nihal27 - Hi I loved hearing from you with your constructive criticism about Percy. I am sadly less aware of the stages of victims trauma than you and was therefore unable to add those into my story, however that is something I would certainly do if I ever did something like this again. But for this story I think that the stages such as anger that you mentioned would have been in the 100 years that I briefly skipped through, so maybe we can say that they were in the years that I didn't cover? Once again thank you for your comment, I loved hearing your opinion/ways to improve.
Percy POV
I slowly twisted Riptide in an arch, getting used to the feel of my bronze and leather armour. Nico and I were currently stood on our side of the hill crest, helping our friends prepare for war. I had been given one of the red plumed helmets of the Ares cabin to help me blend in, as that was where Nico and I would be positioned in the fight.
I wasn't happy that I was not going to be with my friends to have their backs, but I understood why I should be hidden. Lord K wanted me back, so if he found me all Hades could break loose.
"Percy!" Annabeth's voice broke me from my musings. I walked over to where she, Jason and Hazel were discussing their plan. "My mother has told me that she thinks Hyperion, Krios, Theia and the King are down there." She said, careful not to say HIS name. "Run me through how to take them again."
"Theia should be the easiest to take down if she joins in, as her powers are light based. So just stay out of the beams she can shoot and take her down. I'd recommend archers do it because they'll be harder to hit." Jason hummed in agreement.
"Jason, you've fought Krios before. He is the most powerful at night, so he will be at his weakest right now, but he is Hecate's grandfather so watch out because he can use some magic."
"The issue will be the other two. The King is just a game of chance and smarts. But with Hyperion, you can stop him easily with water. That would be easy but you lot aren't letting me…"
"No." Nico cut in from behind me. "If you use your water powers then they know it is you. They are for emergencies only."
"Yes. I know." I drawled, I knew he was only trying to protect me, but they were a part of me. It felt unnatural to not use my powers in a fight. "Your best bet would be Leo then." I told Annabeth. "If he can take control of Hyperion's fire for a few seconds while someone kills the bas*ard, it will be much easier."
"Thanks Percy, we're ready to go now." Jason said, giving me a pat on the shoulder. "May the gods be with you."
"And with you all." I replied, as Nico took my hand and led me to the middle of the Ares cabin. Here we would be at the front of the action, but not too close that the King would see me. I hoped.
As we stopped I pulled Nico towards me and gave him a firm kiss. He was surprised at the PDA but soon melted into it, allowing himself to respond. Finally, I pulled back and said, "Just in case."
"I'm staying with you Percy, nothing will happen." He told me in a sincere tone. I wanted to believe him but, in all honesty, I was scared. The reality of what I was about to do was kicking in. I smiled and slipped on m helmet, Nico doing the same with his own stygian iron one.
I took his hand and together we walked forwards, ready to fight.
Nico POV
I took a deep breath as we stopped, hearing Jason call the order. I should have been there at the front with my friends, I hated to leave them without me. But Percy needed me, and I needed him. I had to know that he was safe.
From where I was stood I could just about see as the titan King stepped out of the monster army again.
"Demigods." He greeted sternly. "Your ranks seem to be looking a little thin. What happened?" He paused to think for a moment. "Oh, wait. Me." He laughed at his own joke.
"What do you want now!?" Annabeth yelled at him from her place in front of us.
"I just came to say last chance." He smirked. "I intend to decimate your puny forces today and then when I see the rest of you again on the battle field. It will be the end of the gods." He spoke as if it were a fact. Percy tensed next to me. "Calm." I whispered, rubbing circles into the back of his hand.
"Now is your final opportunity to surrender and join my side." The titan announced so that everyone could hear him. The army shifted uncomfortably as he spread his armoured arms wide, but no one moved to join him. Not after he had killed so many of our own.
"No one wants to join you Kronos!" Thalia yelled, from where she stood in my place. The hunters had arrived again some days back, so she had happily agreed to stand in for me.
"Daughter of Zeus," he sneered at her "I thought Hades boy stood there." He said, suspicion lacing his tone. "He hasn't died already has he? No, I think not." He answered his own question.
I shuffled so that I could no longer see the titan, knowing he could then not see me either. I had a feeling the plan was going horribly wrong.
"Son of Hades!" The titan boomed. "I hear you have taken a liking to my prized possession. Don't get comfortable." I could feel Percy trembling slightly beside me. I just hoped that the titan didn't think Percy was out here.
How could I have been so stupid as to let him fight? I should have stopped him. I should have done something.
"I'll be fine." Percy whispered as if he had read my thoughts, but the doubt in his voice didn't really settle my nerves. But there was nothing more I could do as at that moment the titan's army rushed towards us and we charged them.
I was forced to let go of the sea prince to draw my sword as I ran, he did the same. And soon we met the first lines of the monsters.
Instantly a Hellhound dove at Percy, but he ducked and held his sword high – gutting the beast and being showered in golden dust. He sprang back up with a grin on his face as he rammed his sword through the face of the Dracaena I had been fighting.
Quickly, we moved on to the next monsters, weaving a path of destruction into the army. After a few minutes of fighting I realised we had gotten separated from the rest of the Ares campers and told Percy that we had to hold our position.
He nodded and put his back against my own.
Not a second later he cut an arrow in two that had been heading towards me. To thank him I stabbed the Empulsa that was trying to use his distraction as an opening.
Like that we fought seamlessly. Slashing, ducking, stabbing, blocking. But never leaving the other undefended.
We were like a well-oiled machine.
Percy was incredible. My ADHD brain couldn't help but note the fact that every swing of his sword was precise and struck exactly where he wanted it to, watching him fight was to see a deadly dance of blades.
It took a while for the campers to reach our position, but once they did it was easy for us to break the monster ring surrounding us in a whirlwind of attacks and move onwards with them.
I fell into the rhythm of battle. Duck, swing, parry, jab, roll, attack, repeat. As terrifying as fighting is there is always the slight thrill that comes along with it. My heart was pounding.
As I spun to avoid the club of a cyclops I looked to see how Percy was doing.
I almost fell when I couldn't see him.
Regardless I continued my attack on the one-eyed beast and quickly dispatched it to Tartarus. Frantically I spun around 360 to try and spot the son of Poseidon. But I couldn't find him. For a moment I considered calling out to him. But I soon dismissed it as that was a sure way to tell Kronos he was on the field.
I would just have to keep going and hope that I found him again.
Percy POV
It felt exhilarating to be fighting again. Yes, I had been training but there was nothing like the real thing. That's not to say that I didn't hope it would end. Just that I was glad to be helping the campers defend our home.
I was trying to stay as close to Nico as I could so that I could keep an eye out and hopefully stop him from being hurt, but occasionally I couldn't help being drawn away from him.
On one such occasion I turned as I heard a scream from my left. With one last look at Nico I plunged into the monsters. I quickly decapitated the Empulsa stood in my way and found the boy who I had heard; he was on the floor with a snarling Hellhound stood over him.
Without another thought I charged the beast, knocking it off him with my shoulder. I stood in front of the young boy and, when the monster charged, I jumped on to it plunging my blade deep into its body.
The monster crumbled to dust and I scrambled to my feet to pull the boy up. "Are you ok?" I asked him.
"Yeah, yeah… Watch out!"
Without any other notice I felt a hand grab me from behind and I was sent flying. Luckily, I managed to roll backwards as I landed and come up on my feet to kill a Telkhine.
I wobbled slightly and prepared for the giant that now running towards me.
As it got closer I ran towards it and did a baseball slide between its legs. Springing up on the other side I stabbed the creature in the back of the knee and as it fell to the floor in pain I jumped up and drove Riptide into its neck.
I stood up and looked back the way that I had come, hoping to see Nico. But unfortunately, the giant had thrown me too far.
I called out his name a few times, in the hope that he would hear me and call back. But there was no such luck.
I would just have to keep going and hope that I found him again.
Sadly, luck never seemed to be on my side and after a few more minutes of fighting I caught word of a titan wading around the battle. I knew that Nico wanted me to keep a low profile, but I couldn't let anyone die when I could stop it.
I would just have to avoid using my powers.
I hurried, cutting my way through the monsters. Following the rumour of the titan. And, soon enough, I found him. I really was out of luck.
I saw his fires before I saw the titan himself, but the screams of dying demigods would have showed me the way anyway. I quickly found Hyperion in the middle of despatching a group of Romans.
"Hey Ugly!" I yelled as soon as I reached the clearing that he was stood in.
"What's this?" He mocked. "A son of Ares thinks he can take me on alone. Come on then God Spawn." I didn't bother to correct the arrogant titan, I simply charged towards his avoiding the flames he shot at me.
Eventually, I was within the reach of his fiery sword and he swung it at my head – going for a quick decapitation. I rolled under the swing and cut a gash into the grieves on his leg.
The titan laughed as I was forced the jump back from him, as he tried to hit me with his other hand.
I was quickly put on the defensive having to dodge or parry a wild flurry of blows aimed towards me. "Impressive." He stated once he finally let up. "It will be a pleasure to kill you."
I took my chance and charged towards him, parrying away a heavy swing to send him off balance. I pressed my advantage and cut deep into his flesh where his armour connected by his shoulder. The titan howled in pain.
It seemed that another group of demigods had banded together to try and take down the titan. They took his moment of weakness as their opportunity to charge him. But upon hearing their battle cry he turned quicker than expected and fired a strong blast of fire their way.
They were on the other side of the titan to me there was no way I could get there in time. So, without considering the consequences, I thrust my hands forwards. A wall of water shot out of the ground, it sizzled but held strong as the last of the fire was destroyed. The demigods had been inches from death.
I lowered my hands and took a deep breath, "Shit". I knew that everyone in the area had seen my trick. That meant that Nico would be on his way here, but it also meant that Kronos would soon be coming for me.
Hyperion turned around to look at me as the demigods disappeared back into the battle. "Son of Poseidon." He grinned. "Of course, no mortal could stand up to me. Our king will surely be happy to see you again."
"He is not my king!" I yelled through gritted teeth.
Having no more reason to hold back I sent a torrent of water, made from the vapour around me, at the titan of light. It doused his fires for a moment, pushing him back and giving me the chance to cut the other side of his shoulder. Fully incapacitating the arm.
The titan cried out once more, but I didn't allow him the time to recover. I swiftly sent a flurry of attacks mixed in with ice, to his already injured leg. Eventually it gave out and he had to place his sword arm on the floor so that he didn't fall over.
I kicked the sword away from him and prepared for the final blow. "You'll see your king again soon." I hissed before driving my sword through his heart.
It took a few moments for the titan to fall after I had removed my sword. In that time, he smiled and before I knew it a final shock wave of power was sent flying out from him.
I hit the deck as quick as I could. But even then, I was partially caught in the blast and hit my head on the ground, hard.
I groaned as I rolled on to my back. I tried to blink the stars out of my eyes but I couldn't quite do it. I just laid there for a second trying to sort my head out.
Despite the fact the world was still spinning, I eventually managed to sit up.
As I looked around me I saw that many monsters had been vaporised by the attack and every demigod had been throw back at least fifty feet. I was glad to see that the other demigods were starting to get up, and I was going to go to them until I heard a voice behind me.
"Perseus." That was all they said. But I immediately knew who it was. They didn't sound close, but if he knew where I was, he was too close for my liking.
I closed my eyes and prayed to every god I could think of that I was wrong or to come and save me. But no one came.
"Don't make me say your name again, boy." He growled. And finally I opened my eyes to see my friends and most importantly Nico staring at me in horror, then I turned around.
It was him. In the glory of his 9 foot form, clad in golden armour from his feet to his helm. Kronos. I couldn't help but quiver in his presence. I quickly turned to look at the demigods. They were still fifty feet away, I realised in dismay that they were frozen. Unable to help me.
I took another deep breath and stood up to fully face the titan king who was stood seventy feet away. If it was anyone else I would have tried running at that distance, but the distance didn't matter with Kronos.
"There we go." He mocked me, his golden eyes glittering. "I see you tried to hide yourself in the Ares cabin, a good plan."
"I-I don't ne-need to hide from you." I stated, tossing my helmet to the floor so that he could see my face. It probably would've been a good line if I could have stopped my voice from cracking in fear.
The king just laughed.
Tears were starting to brim in my eyes, but I was trying desperately to hold them back. "That's cute." He finally told me. "Now come here."
"No!" I heard the shout from behind me and saw that the demigods were no longer frozen in time, just fear. Nico was stood in front of them, his black hair whipping in the wind and a stormy look in his eyes. "No Percy. Don't! You don't have to listen to him any more you are free."
I was drawn back to looking at the titan, his army milling behind him, as he laughed once again. "He is not free." Now Kronos was looking at Nico. "That boy," he spat "is my property and no matter what the Styx says I will have him."
My head sank as I took a step towards the king.
"Percy!" A different voice shouted. Annabeth. "Listen to us, you have a life here and friends. Don't throw that all away. You don't have to listen to him anymore, please come back to us." By the end she was crying and melted into the arms of Piper.
"Come on Perce." Nico tried again. "Please come back to me. I need you."
"I won't tell you again." Kronos's voice held anger now. I flinched involuntarily, I remembered what that tone meant. "If you come now, my army will leave for the day. If not…" He left the threat hanging.
I looked up at my boyfriend once more. I could faintly make out tears rolling down his face but he was trying to stay strong for me. "You know that is a lie." He said barely loud enough for me to hear it. "Come home Percy. Come back to me." He took a step forwards and held a hand out for me.
I couldn't believe what I was about to do but I knew I had to try. "Rot in Tartarus." I told Kronos in a quiet voice before sprinting towards the rest of the demigods as fast as I could.
I got about half way there before I felt something wrap around my leg and then pull me to the ground.
"Percy!" Nico cried out sprinting forwards to try and reach me, the rest of my friends following him. I scrabbled at the floor, desperately trying to find anything to stop me from being dragged back towards the furious titan.
I found a rock, but with a sharp tug on the rope and almost dislocating my shoulders, I let out a yelp of pain and was pulled away. I saw my friends stop and Jason grab hold of a fighting Nico, I knew that was it I was done for.
Not a second later I was flipped onto my back and an armoured boot stomped on my chest. I tried to curl in on myself as I coughed in pain, but the boot remained planted on my chest.
I tried to resist looking up, but a bit more pressure on my chest told me he wanted to see my face. Sea green met gold once again. Tears began to fall from my eyes, from the pain, from the loss of my freedom, from the fact I may never get to see Nico again.
"Let him go you" Nico was cut off as the titan planted a firm kick into my side, rolling me over a few times. As I came to a halt his foot was on my chest again as Kronos ordered "Tell your dear boyfriend what he is to call me."
I closed my eyes wishing for this to end and muttered, "Lord Kronos."
"So, everyone can hear you!" He yelled.
"L-Lord Kronos, my lord." I cried out, my tone begging him not to hurt me again. He seemed satisfied with this and looked across the field. A cruel smirk playing on his lips.
"Jackson here, knows his place you see. I feel your influence has been bad for him. You won't see him again until he dies." Kronos directed the last part at me, but I wasn't looking at him, I was staring at Nico. The son of Hades was being held by both Frank and Jason, he was struggling wildly against them.
"Stop, Neeks. He'll kill you!" I yelled to him before a fist connected with my face. I cried out in pain as my eyes began to water and my cheek throbbed.
"You do not speak unless told to!" The titan above me roared, I nodded minutely and turned my head back to Nico. The two other boys were basically holding him up as he finally broke down.
"That's all we have time for anyway." Kronos stated gleefully. "We will be going now; the gods will be here soon." I took one last look at the few people I classed as my friends before the world was painfully turned to black when the king of the titans' fist connected with my face again.
I'm sorry! Please don't hate me. It will get better, maybe.
Please review and stuffs. See ya.
