So, this was supposed to be my last chapter but as I was writing it, it has turned into three. Also because, as you may have noticed, I'm terrible at updating at the minute so I'm just going to post all my chapters now to stop myself from forgetting.

(Because this was supposed to all be one chapter there will be no AN at the beginning of the next two chapters, the final note will be on the third post)

Percy POV

It didn't take long for the two of us the reach the front of camp, but when we got there all the campers were in position and almost ready to go.

Across the field I could see the monsters shifting within the tree line, ready to charge. Just waiting on the signal.

Nico and I walked to the front of the demigod army in silence. Not much had been said since we left the tent, the son of Hades had grabbed my hand and walked stubbornly towards the front of camp.

I knew that he was terrified, but he was putting on a brave face for the others. His head was held high and he walked calmly to the front. But I could see the fear in his eyes.

I gave his hand a quick squeeze. Nico smiled at me, appreciating the comfort.

Honestly, I knew how he was feeling. I was terrified too. My heart was pounding so hard that I could feel it and my palms were beginning to sweat.

The last time I had gone out to fight I had been captured by the enemy and there was nothing I could do about it. And the time before that I had gotten stuck in literal hell.

I was on a losing streak.

So to have the fate of the world resting on me... yeah, a lot of pressure. A hundred years ago fighting to save the world would've been an average Tuesday – but not anymore.

I was pulled out of my thoughts as we approached our friends. "You won then." Leo stated gesturing at my armour.

"Unfortunately." Nico answered for me. "He was annoyingly persuasive." I shot my boyfriend a goofy smile, he scowled back.

"Where do you want to be?" Jason asked me, practical as always.

"Nico says I'm not allowed to leave him, so, wherever he is will be fine." I told him. I knew that Nico would probably be at the front of our forces but that didn't matter to me. If I was going to fight in this battle the titans would find me no matter where I stood – last time showed me that. So this time there was no hiding.

I could help the most if I could use my powers to their full extent, that meant I needed to get a bit away from the rest of our forces. Otherwise they might get caught in it.

If Kronos saw me, then I guess I would have to cope.

"Ok," Jason replied, looking over the campers. "I think everyone is ready."

Everyone suddenly got very serious. There were several mutters of "May the gods be with you" and "Good luck" before everyone separated and faced the army.

Nico and I went left with Leo and Thalia, while Frank, Hazel, Piper went to the right where the Romans were stood. Jason stayed in the middle.

The army, realising we were ready, quickly quietened down to hear what the son of Jupiter would say.

"Demigods!" He yelled. "Behind you is Mount Olympus, the root of the gods, the heart of Greece." Several of the campers turned to see the mountain. Its presence was ominous, ever present and looming over us, it was hard to forget where we were.

"In front of you," Jason continued "is a monster hoard led by the titans. They want to get to the mountain and destroy the gods. If we allow that to happen, they will fade from existence and the titans will rule the earth."

"If the titans rule the earth, we will be made to swear ourselves to them or be hunted down and killed. The mortals will be enslaved to their service and suffer in their rule." A low rumble of whispering ran through the gathered crowd.

"Will we let that happen?!" The son of Jupiter bellowed over the noise.

The replying yell of "NO" was so loud that the ground shook. I smiled to myself, if this morale was held then we had a chance of actually defeating them.

Jason looked ready to order the gods' army out on to the field, but I stepped forwards – effectively stopping him and drawing the attention to myself.

"Today," I called trying to mask the fear in my own voice "we fight for those who cannot fight for themselves. Today we fight for our family and friends. We are fighting for those who have fallen already!" I paused for breath.

"But most importantly, we fight together. As a unit, as friends. And when we do, we will defeat those who oppose us!" I finished. There was a pause, no one spoke - I thought I had failed.

And then a cheer erupted from the gathered demigods.

A smile broke out across my face and I turned to grin at Nico. "You've still got it." He laughed. Then he seemed to notice someone over my shoulder and suddenly got very serious.

It was time.

"Good luck." he told me, pressing forwards to crash his lips on to my own. I hurried to respond, desperate to hold him for a little while longer. But he pulled away.

"Don't go dying on me." I told him solemnly.

"I wouldn't dream of it." He smiled, slipping his black helmet on to his head. I followed suit, sliding my own bronze helmet onto my head.

Around me my friends were all putting their helmets on and drawing their weapons.

"Let's go!" Jason called out. We turned to lead them out and, as one, our army left the protection of the outer barrier of camp and on to the battle field.

There the monster army was beginning to leave the trees and enter the field. In front of them Koios and Krios stood in full battle armour.

Koios, the titan of the north, was dressed in white armour with a wolf head engraved in it. While his brother Krios, titan of the south and constellations, was wearing black armour with a star on the front.

Both were in their 9-foot form and wielding deadly blades that were at least 5-foot-long from hilt to point – it would be difficult for anyone to get near them without being pulverised.

I had thought that Jason would stop our army near the gates, but when he saw that the opposing force was not ready, he took full advantage of it. The son of Jupiter started the charge and ran towards his old foe Krios.

I wished that I could go help him, but I was too far away and settled for attacking the monsters.

I did not let them get within ten feet of me before I leapt into the air and stabbed riptide into the ground. Instantly, the earth began to rumble and the monsters in front of me were sent tumbling down.

Before they could even begin to get up, Nico and I had dispatched of them all.

We quickly moved on to the next set of monsters that approached us, cutting our way into the middle of the group before standing back to back and letting them form a ring around us.

It was exhilarating to battle with Nico, we both knew how the other would attack and could work together to turn monsters to dust while still protecting the others back. It was even more thrilling to finally be able to use my powers again.

I hadn't had much chance back at camp half-blood or at the war camp, the only time I had used them was at the end of the last battle. So it was nice to be able to use them freely again – it was almost like stretching your legs after a long time sitting down.

The battle was pretty easy until a hellhound jumped over the monsters to get to us.

It had jumped at Nico, who had the sense to duck and pull me down with him. That resulted in the monster killing the Empulsa that had been attacking me.

It wasn't pleased to have killed an ally instead of us and barely gave us time to stand before it was slashing its razor like claws at my legs. I jumped over them and sent a burst of water into the beast's face.

That distracted it and gave me the opportunity to spin to its side and drive my sword into its heart. Before it had even disintegrated, I rushed back towards Nico and launched an ice spear through the Telkhine that had been trying to stab him in the back.

Being in battle made it as if we were in our own little bubble of murder. We couldn't even see the battles around us, we could just hear the constant monotony of clashing weapons and the calls of monsters.

It became obvious that Jason's plan to attack the army while they were still emerging from the trees as it meant that they didn't have time to truly form ranks. Instead we could focus on attacking small groups of monsters and be ready for when the next wave of monsters hit.

But we knew that eventually they would come in full force. And it wasn't long until that came true.

Nico and I had just finished off our group of monsters and were looking for the next targets when an earth shuddering roar echoed out from the trees. All around the field heads turned to look at the forest.

I could taste the fear, even the monsters had become distracted. Suddenly, the beast burst from the trees.

Its golden fur was shimmering in sun as it bound towards us, its mane blowing in the wind. The infamous monster stopped 50 yards away from us and let out another fearsome roar.

"I think this is for us." I told Nico, annoyed that I was having to face it again.

The son of Hades nodded and took off running towards it with me hot on his heels. Around us the battle continued but the lion waited for us to reach it.

We were slowed slightly by a number of monsters that tried to kill us along the way, but we cut them all down and continued running. When we were almost there, I heard a shout off to the left.

"You look like you could use a hand." Thalia called. I smiled at the lieutenant of Artemis as she joined us when we stopped 10 yards from the Nemean Lion.

"You remember the Smithsonian?" I asked her.

"Yeah." she answered with a sly grin.

"I'd like to point out that I was ten and not there." Nico interjected, eyeing up the beast wearily.

"You and Kelp Head need to annoy it, preferably while not being killed, and I'll shoot it in the mouth when it roars. That's his only weak spot apart from the eyes – but they're too small." Thalia explained quickly.

"Ok." Nico said, catching on to the plan "Hit and run."

I nodded in reply and together we took off towards the lion while Thalia protected us from the other monsters, she would attack it when she got the chance.

"Hey ugly! Remember me?" I shouted to grab the lion's attention. It quickly turned towards me, apparently it did remember, and got ready to pounce on me. Before it got the chance Nico hit the flat of his blade against the lion's back leg as hard as he could.

It quickly turned towards him, but the son of Hades had already shadow travelled further away from the Nemean Lion. I ran closer to it and formed several spears of ice, directing them to strike different parts of the lion. They shattered on impact but the definitely hurt as the lion howled out in pain.

As soon as it opened its mouth three arrows punctured into the vulnerable skin in its mouth. But it wasn't enough to kill the monster. It soon closed its mouth again and growled at me.

Unable to run away from it, I ran towards the monster as it pounced at me and slid under it when it jumped. I quickly appeared on the other side of it and sent a torrent of water at the lion.

While that didn't injure it, no cats like being wet – 'mythical' or not. The lion roared again in anger and this time I helped Thalia by forming the biggest ice spear I could and fired it into the monster's mouth.

When it hit the Nemean Lion's eyes bulged out. Nico quickly came to catch me as I stumbled slightly from the effort and we watched together as the monster tried to take another step but fell when its legs weren't strong enough.

We watched silently as its paws began to disintegrate. The lion let out one last mournful roar and then burst into dust, just leaving behind its skin which shimmered, before shrinking and forming a jacket – just like last time.

Thalia, being the closest, ran and grabbed the jacket and handed it over to me.

"Here, you killed it this is yours." She told me.

I was about to protest when Nico said, "You're going to need it to finish to prophecy." I knew he was right, so I reluctantly took the jacket.

As soon as I did it shimmered again and turned into a navy-blue cloak, seeming to know that a wearing a jacket doesn't really work with armour on. I was obviously pleased with the change and hurried to slip on the cloak.

I suddenly felt very grateful for the extra layer of protection when there was a mighty yell came from the trees and a second wave of monsters burst out. Just as we were managing the first ones too.

I looked at Nico and sighed. He simply shrugged and started summoning skeleton warriors from the earth. I followed his example and formed as many ice spears as I could and then, together, I threw my spears while Nico's skeletons charged – leaving the two of us to run behind them.

Around us I could see other demigods peeling away from the first wave of monsters and joining us in charging the second. I just hoped that those who stayed behind could deal with the remaining monsters so that we wouldn't get trapped in the middle – that would be bad.

As I looked around the remaining monsters I noticed that Krios was nowhere to be seen, Jason had obviously managed to take care of him at the start of the battle, and Koios was surrounded by a group of Ares and Mars campers who were clearly about to send him back to Tartarus.

As I hit the first row of monsters and began the hypnotic dance of flashing weaponry, I realised that the titan numbers were beginning to dwindle. From the ones that I had seen their number had halved, out of the 14 I had seen only 7 remained. And we had taken out most of the big hitters.

I was knocked back into reality when a spear almost stabbed me in the face.

I blinked a few times; my godly instincts were the only reason I was still alive. "Eyes up Kelp Head!" Nico told me, stabbing the offending monster in the back. I flashed him a smile and plunged back into the battle beside him.

We soon became a well-oiled machine of violence. I held a small flurry of ice shards flowing around us at all times to keep the thick of the monsters away while we cut down the brave ones who made it through.

Occasionally, I would signal to Nico and would drop the ice around us and instead fire a focused blast of water and ice at a particularly strong group, before resuming the protection. In these times Nico would shadow travel amongst the monsters stabbing them quickly in the middle of their ranks before returning to me.

It was almost fun.

That was, until the manticore.

It was on one of our quick flashes of more offensive action, when Nico left me, that I heard him cry out.

I whipped around, launching myself sword first towards him. I hacked away any and every monster that tried to stop me. Without even realising it I had started my own personal hurricane that threw the creatures away from me in every direction – that was if they didn't vaporise.

I struggled to get my anger under control as I got closer to the son of Hades, desperately trying to reel in the storm so that I didn't hurt him.

After a few moments, the storm dissipated, and I cut the last brave group of Telkhines that dared to stand before me. After that I could see him.

Nico was standing alone, swinging painfully at the monsters that tried to take advantage of his weakness. As I watched I saw him swing out beyond his reach at an Empulsa, he managed to kill the she-demon but toppled over on to the floor.

That was when I noticed the spike that was halfway into his thigh.

Panic shot through me as a harpy dived down towards his unprotected back. Without even thinking I thrust my arms forwards, a torrent of water flew forwards – blasting the bird far away and back to the forest.

I took advantage of the path I had made and created a wave to ride the last few meters to Nico. The stylish mode of travel got me there just in time to cut the next spike out of the air.

I quickly positioned myself above Nico, who was now in too much pain to be useful, and settled into a defensive stance. As soon as I saw the monster attacking him, I got a sudden sense of de ja vu.

I was fourteen again, stood in the snow with two young children. The eldest was a girl of 12 and the youngest was a boy, he was only ten. They had their backs against the wall while I was in front of them, promising it would be ok while the monster threw spikes at us.

But I was determined not to let this meeting with him go down the same way, this time I wouldn't lose anyone to the manticore.

"Well isn't this cute." he drawled in his thick French accent. "I've only had the displeasure of meeting you twice and both times you are here protecting the runt." The manticore smiled, showing his spiked yellow teeth.

The faint swish behind him was the only indication that he had fired another spike. This time I dropped my blade and let it shield Nico from the arrow. It hit with a pleasant 'ding' and dropped to the floor.

"I'm not letting you hurt him." I growled.

"Pfft. You have no chance." The beast dismissed. "Look around you son of Poseidon, you are alone, and your precious boyfriend is bleeding out." I turned to look, keeping an eye on the threat in front of me. Sadly, he was right.

The ring of monsters around us was edging closer and there was no help in sight. The only other demigod was Nico, who was trying his best not to whimper as he painfully bled out.

"If you give up now and surrender to us. I will kill him quickly when we reach Lord Kronos." The manticore told me. "If you don't... well. He will die here in agony and I will drag you to our Lord."

The manticore's blue eye twinkled dangerously, while the brown one promised nothing but death. I reset my stance to be able to defend 360° a raised Riptide. "He is not my Lord." I told the beast, creating as many ice spears around me as I could.

The manticore bared his lion's teeth and shook his mane furiously, "Get him!" he yelled.

With that the monsters around me charged, I hurried to fire off my ice spears and froze a dome of ice around Nico. As soon as I was sure he was safe I leapt towards the manticore.

He roared out and tried to swipe me with his claws, but I quickly rolled beneath them and popped up on his other side. I had been intending to end it by stabbing him in the side, but his barbed tail shot around to block my swing.

I jumped back out of his reach and sent a small burst of water at his face. That part was a big cat after all.

My plan worked perfectly and the manticore spluttered closing his eyes. That gave me the chance to vault over him and strike his tail. He tried to stop me by raking his claws across my back, but he had obviously not noticed my invincible Nemean Lion cloak his swipe was harmless against it.

That was what I had been hoping for and I took his moment of thinking he had won to use Riptide as a cleaver and cut off his tail. The manticore howled out in pain, sending another desperate swipe towards me. It caused me to stumble back, but I used the momentum to roll backwards and reappeared on my feet.

I quickly spun and cut the head off an Empulsa that had finally gotten the courage to attack me after my initial outburst but turned again in time to see the manticore burst into a shower of golden dust.

Before the dust had even settled, I sprinted back to Nico where a group of monsters were trying to get to him within the ice. They were dead before they knew I was back.

I had just lopped the last head off a Dracenea when something hard hit me from behind.

I fell and hit the ice face first. I would certainly have a bruise if I lived to see the morning. I couldn't dwell on that though and turned as quick as I could. Luckily, I was able to stab the Telkhine in the gut before it killed me but as soon as I stood, I realised that I could never make my way through the crowd of monsters.

Not before Nico was dead.

I needed to protect him, and I needed to heal him. I couldn't do both at the same time, but he needed me to.

It was starting to become more apparent to me that if something didn't happen quickly Nico would die, and I would probably follow him soon after.

I was quickly running out of energy after using my powers so much, but I was prepared to do one last blast in the hopes that I would give me time to save Nico's life.

I was just gathering the power within me when a strong voice said, "You leave them to me." That was when a trident smash through the line of monsters.

An exhausted grin spread across my face as I turned to face my father.

The gods had finally arrived.

"You're late." I panted, finally allowing the exhaustion to set in.

The god of the sea sent a small wave of salt water over me, filling me with new power. "You know what Zeus is like." He answered, recalling his weapon. "Now see it your boyfriend."

I nodded and waved my hand to melt the ice while he set about laying waste to the monsters around me – they didn't stand a chance.

"Neeks." I said urgently, kneeling beside him. Now that I was closer, I could clearly see that his wound was serious. The thorn had gone deep into his thigh and blood was pooling on the ground beneath him, causing the son of Hades to look even paler than usual.

"Neeks." I called again. He stirred slightly in his pained slumber as I lifted to water up from the ground and pressed my hands to his thigh.

Nico hissed in pain. "I'm sorry." I muttered, but really, I was just glad that he wasn't unconscious anymore. I carried on pushing the water into the wound until I was sure it was clear.

When I looked up again, Nico's eyes had fluttered open.

"Hey," I whispered, he just smiled back. "I was kinda hoping you would just stay out for this part." I told him honestly. "On three I'm going to pull it out." The son of Hades nodded at me.

"One, two..." I pulled the spike out and desperately pushed water into the gaping hole in his leg, stopping the blood coming out. "Three." I smiled innocently at Nico as he glared daggers at me.

After that I got to work focusing on the muscle reconnecting and mending. I occasionally looked up to see if my father needed me when Nico was stable, but he seemed thrilled to be dispatching of the monsters, so I left him to it.

After about ten minutes of work Nico was able to stand on his feet, although he was leaning on me still. When he noticed my father came back to us smiling, "Good you're ok." Poseidon said, giving Nico the once over.

He did however place his own hand over Nico's leg and sent a pulse of power into it. That allowed him to finally take all of him own weight. The son of Hades took a few experimental steps before thanking my father. "The sea looks after its own." was the gods only reply before he announced "Perses is in the tree line so I'm going there, I'll see you later."

We closed our eyes and when we reopened them the god of the sea was gone.

"Come on," I said grabbing Nico's free hand. "We should go help the others."

He grinned at me "I feel like getting some titans off the field." With that we ran off to do exactly that.
