Prom day was here and Piper was freaking out. Today was supposed to be this amazing day to really celebrate the end of her high school career. It was supposed to be the last time she sees her graduating class and talk to those kids she wished she had talked to or made friends with anytime during the last three years. It was supposed to be the night to dance with her friends and really take that last step to moving on.

Today was supposed to be a lot of things, but now, here she was, at 5:15 PM looking in the mirror and really feeling like shit.

Her hair was in a sophisticated mess of a fancy hairstyle, her makeup barely done and she was second guessing the dress she was so sure was the one two months ago. It was in that instant that it finally dawned on her.

She didn't want to go to prom anymore.

Prom was also supposed to be with Larry. They were supposed to match, at least resemble a young couple in love and do the whole high school romance movie cliché thing of booking a hotel room at the Hilton Stockton post-prom in hopes of getting laid and room service in the morning.

Prom used to mean Larry and now he wasn't in the picture anymore. And she realized then too that Larry isn't the one she wants to go to prom with.

Alex is the one she wants to be dancing with tonight and that's not possible because that's the price of being together.

Secrecy, no first dates, she can't tell her friends, etc... All because they can't risk anything when Alex's job was still at stake.

Suddenly, this horrible feeling crawled all over her body and before she knew it, she was running to the bathroom. She barely got the toilet seat up before she was emptying all the contents of her stomach in the hole.

"Shit."

Alex was in the middle of making a life changing decision about what to eat for dinner when she got the 9-11 emergency text from Piper.

Her mind started racing to a million different thoughts about what might've gone wrong. The scenarios she came up with made her literally sick to her stomach.

She was out her door running before she even sent back a reply.

...

Alex was breathless when Piper opened the door to her apartment loft. The blonde was wearing simple boy-shorts and a loose t-shit lounging barefoot around the place and normally, that would've had Alex pining her up against a wall because she loosed sexy as sin but Alex was currently heaving for air.

But more than breathless, she was also very confused. She didn't even feel Piper pulling her inside the apartment; much less hear her close the door behind them.

"Hi." Piper then placed a kiss against her still gasping lips.

"Hi." Alex blinked, feeling lost. "Do you realize that I just ran here?"

"You ran?" Piper mused.

"Yes!" Alex exclaimed. "You 9-11'ed remember? That's for serious emergencies only. Like if your apartment was on fire."

Piper laughed as she walked inside the kitchen with Alex following at her heels. She opened the fridge and retrieved a cold bottle of water before sliding it across the counter to Alex.

As Alex chugged her bottle of water, she started taking in her surroundings. This was actually her first time inside Piper's apartment and she had to admit, it looked pretty fucking awesome for someone her age.

She had these cool multi-changing-colored lights illuminating the place. It was large and homey without being lonely. Her furniture looked comfortable and welcoming and she also had personal paintings on all the walls. One painting in particular was of a naked woman with an exotic look on her face. Alex couldn't help but focus on her the most.

Outside Piper's floor to ceiling windows, she had a sliding-door balcony with a pretty sick view at night.

Pretty freaking cool.

"Nice place." Alex complimented.

"Thanks." Piper smiled. "I got a good deal on it." She explained while gesturing her hands to the awaiting couches on the living room for Alex to take a seat.

Alex sat down and watched the tiny little fishes swim in the large aquarium tank against Piper's wall as the lights and background design continue to change.

That's so freaking cool! Alex thought.

Finally, she snapped out of it when she remembered the matter at hand.

"What's up babe?" Alex asked. "While I'm glad that you're not on fire, you still 9-11'ed. What's going on?"

"I'm not going to prom." Piper told her as she joined her on the couch.

Alex's eyes widened. She had forgotten that today was prom Friday for many high school students.

"Why aren't you going anymore, baby?"

Piper shrugged nonchalantly. "Because it doesn't matter."

Alex didn't believe that for a second. Girls like Piper live for prom.

But then she quickly had to remind herself that Piper wasn't just like every girls. She was different in every sense of the word.

"Tell me. Tell me why it suddenly doesn't matter." Alex pleaded. "I thought you were all ready and excited to go with your friends?"

"I was." Piper admitted. "But then I realized that it's just going to be a stupid night spent with a bunch of people I don't even fucking know. So what's the point?"

"Come here." Alex pulled her in her arms and tucked the blonde against her chest then begin running her fingers through her soft, silky golden locks.

"What's this really about, Pipes?" Alex asked, softly placing a kiss against the blonde's temple.

Pipe sighed a long, deep breath with closed eyes before she spoke again.

"Did you go to your high school prom?" She asked.

Alex continued to stroke the blonde's hair. "No. I didn't." She replied. "But this isn't about me, pretty girl."

Alex gave her time without forcing anything out of her. If what Piper needed was exactly what she was doing, which was sitting with her and gently running her fingers through her hair while holding her, then that's exactly what she was going to do until Piper felt better.

A few minutes of a comfortable silence settled profoundly between them before Piper sighed again.

She turned in Alex's arms and sat up; burying her face in the crook of the brunette's neck.

"Whatever it is, it's okay, baby." Alex soothed, drawing invisible circles on the blonde's back.

Alex didn't know what was wrong. But she could only guess.

Maybe today was too much for Piper.

Parents were supposed to get teary eyes watching their kids, (specially their daughters) go to prom. Fathers took pictures of their daughters with their date after scaring the ever-loving-hell out of the boy who will be taking their daughter from him by promising to break their every bone if they hurt their little girl, while the aforementioned little girl blushed of embarrassment from head to toe.

Parents are there for their daughter's prom. It's almost as important of a day as their wedding day will be.

But Piper's different. She doesn't have parents and while that's made her stronger, more independent and an amazing human being, it's always going to be a constant reminder whenever something important happens.

It wasn't until then did Alex realize how that must suck. She couldn't even imagine a world where her mother didn't exist.

"What do you need, baby?" Alex whispered.

Piper shook her head. "Up until a few weeks ago, prom meant Larry." She murmured as they pulled away. "And now, we're us. I knew what it meant when I decided I wanted this between us and I was fine with it. I am fine with. It's just..."

It's just that she wants more. She wants first dates, random-out-off-the-blue-soul-melting-heart-racing kisses; walks when the sun sets and all the things in between that couples have and do together when they're dating.

"I just realized that when tonight ends, when that last romantic song plays, I want to have that last dance with you. I want to be kissing you. But you're the teacher and I'm the student and as long as that fact remains true, this is what it is and I'm fine."

Wordlessly, Alex pulled her back into her arms and hugged her against her chest. She felt like a puppy that got kicked in the face because Piper deserves everything from her.

But this is how it has to be for now.

"I'm fine." Piper said.

"I know." Alex whispered, still not letting go.

An hour later, Piper felt a lot better. They didn't talk beyond what was said earlier. They just stayed on the couch cuddled up until that became enough.

"Did you eat today?" Piper questioned judging by the angry grumbling sound of Alex's stomach.

"I had coffee and a power bar this morning." Alex replied.

"Baby," Piper meant to chastise her for her lack of nutrition for the day but then their lips met and all thoughts of reprimanding just scattered from her mind.

They pulled away breathless and just mirrored each other's glassed lust gaze.

"We're going grocery shopping." Piper announced.

Alex raised an eyebrow. "We are?" She questioned.

"Yes." Piper confirmed. "I got nothing to make a decent meal here." She said. "Unless you want popcorn and yogurt for dinner..."

"Yeah, no. We're going shopping." Alex agreed.

"We're going shopping."

Forty-five minutes later, they were standing at a check-out register with two carts full of grocery goods.

Alex also learned a lot about Piper from shopping with her.

One, she's very picky.

Two, she only buys organic food. Organic everything.

She claims it's better for you. Which Alex agreed it was, but organic food was also more expensive but that's beside the point which brings us back to point one. Picky!

(And oh, by the way, did you know that they made organic gummy bears too?) Crazy isn't it?

Three, if the thing can be homemade, she doesn't buy it because she prefers to make it herself.

Like whipped cream for example.

Alex didn't get it. Hell, she didn't even know how they made whipped cream.

Four, Piper can apparently bake anything. It shouldn't have been a surprise considering the cake she baked on her birthday was pretty damn delicious but she didn't know Piper could bake anything beyond that.

When she said that baking was one of her talents, she wasn't joking because she sure stoked up on baking ingredients.

Five, Piper cares about the environment and the saving of trees. She refused to use plastic bags or paper. Instead she asked for her groceries to be packed in boxes at the register.

The bill was coming at a whooping three-hundred and Alex had a mini heart attack when she realized she had no credit cards or any source of money on her or whatsoever.

When Piper 9-11'ed, she didn't really have the time to grab her wallet because she literally ran out of the house in a hurry to get to her and now she felt like shit for not being able to pitch in half of the money for the groceries.

"It's okay. I got it babe."

"You're sure?"

Piper nodded. Fingers entwined behind her neck, the blonde couldn't help but smile even as she looked up at Alex with questioning eyes.

They haven't before displayed public affection towards each other because they've always done that and more indoors and it's been great.

But this had a novelty to it. It was good. It felt amazing to know that there could be first dates, movies, dinners at restaurants and walks at night in the near future.

"Someone at school might see us." Piper whispered.

Alex smiled. "I don't care." She whispered back. "You're my baby. Let the whole goddamn world know." Then, she melted their lips together in the sweetest kiss Piper's ever known.

It wasn't those kinds of kisses you see in the movies. But it was something. It was one of those soft kisses that lingered for a long time and then followed by a series of little chaste pecks in between whispers of sweet nothings. The whole world around them seemed to have faded in that moment. All that mattered was her.

And in that exact moment, something happened to Piper that was totally out of her control.

Though they never really defined what this thing between them was, but now Piper definitely knew what it wasn't to her anymore.

It wasn't just fun or lust or a fling that will soon expire.

This was everything to her now. Alex was everything now.

It wasn't supposed to happen so soon but somehow, in that very moment, she'd fallen in love head over heels for Alexandra Vause and it was beyond her control.

This was a whole different ball game.

Alex smiled and playfully bit at her lower lip when they pulled away.

Piper giggled. The sound though of complete joy sounded foreign to her own ears. Nobody's ever given her enough butterflies in her stomach to make her giggle.

They turned and their eyes met the cashier and the bagger only to see the poor kids blushing Crimson.

They probably scarred them for life.

"You guys are so cute together." The cashier said, barely on a whisper.

Alex chuckled, planting a loud smacking kiss on Piper's cheek. "I think so too." She agreed. "Thank you."

When the last item rang up, Piper fished out four hundred bills from her little hand-held wallet. Her change came back and she tipped the cashier and the bagger ten dollars each to show her appreciation.

They looked at her with mouth agape as they praised their thank yous' with smiles mirroring their gratefulness.

"No. Thank you." Piper winked at them. "That was a lot of groceries to scan."

...

After a stop at Savers for baking utensils and another at the corner 24-hours liquor store on Belle-View Av. they made it back to Piper's loft.

They unloaded Piper's half of the groceries, moving around diligently around her kitchen and achieving their goals of putting things away efficiently.

"Are we staying here?" Alex asked.

"Piper shook her head."No. We're going to your place after." She replied. "We got your half of the groceries to put away and then I'm gonna make use of that beautiful kitchen of yours. We're gonna get drunk then after you can take advantage of me by defiling me against a wall or something."

Alex couldn't help the hysterical laughter that burst out of her. Piper Chapman is something else and she can honestly say that she's finally winning at life.

"Let's get to it then, pretty girl." She teased, the grin on her face growing wider. "The sooner we get out of here, the sooner I can get to defiling you."

They were out the door after Piper packed an overnight bag.

Alex opened a chilled bottle of wine as soon as they got to her house. She opened the back door and let the Los Angeles sunset salty breeze in. One of the main reasons why she loves this house and bought it in the first place is because of how peaceful it was at all times. She privately owned half the beach at a good twenty mile distance and she could breathe in that salty air and look at the vast ocean anytime she wanted to because it was all hers to do whatever she wants with.

And she had yet to defile Piper on that white sand beach.

They cheered to the beautiful evening as they finished putting away the groceries.

"What do you want for dinner?" Piper asked.

Alex shrugged. "I'm fine with whatever you make." She replied.

"Okay. I need your help then." Piper stripped off her cardigan and pulled her golden locks up in a messy bun before washing her hands under the sink and instructing Alex to do the same also.

"You're gonna make whip cream and cheese cake filling for me."

Alex's eyes brightened. "Cheese cake filling?" She questioned.

"Yep. Cheese cake brownies babe." Piper replied. "And we're also gonna make M&M cookies."

Alex moaned. All that sugar was so-not-good but it still didn't change the fact that it also sounded oh-so-delish!

"You do know that I have no idea how to make any of that, right?" Alex said.

"I know." Piper smirked. "I'm gonna teach you though."

All cutesies! I can't help it with these two!

I hope you guys enjoyed it so please review and let me know what you thought!

And oh, one more thing, Piper and Alex are not necessarily into BDSM in this story. They're just little kinky. If you want BDSM though, I suggest you follow my story Passionately Entwined. I do plan to continue with my other stories after I finish with this one. But since it's my main focus at the moment, I don't want to advert from it.

Until next time…
