Like A Surrogate Mom To Us

Eclipse was giggling as she worked on making a Mother's Day card for her mother, making sure to put plenty of hearts and stars on it. Bumblebee saw her and went up to her. "Whatcha making, Eclipse?" He asked.

"A card for Mommy, cause tomorrow's Mother's Day," she said.

He smiled. "She'll like that," he said.

Eclipse looked curious. "Bee, what do you think of my mommy?" She asked him.

He blinked. "What do you mean?" He asked curiously.

"Like do you see her as a mom or an aunt?"

He began to see where this was going. "Well, your mom reminds me a lot of my mom," he said. "So, I guess your mom is like a mom to me too."

Eclipse giggled. "I noticed she would get worried about you, Sides, Sunny, and Smokey," she said. "And when she was really feeling down, Sides helped her feel better."

Bumblebee nodded with a smile before seeing the small dragon perk up. "Hey! I know! You guys can make Mother's Day cards for Mommy too!"

"You'd be okay with that, kiddo?" He asked.

She nodded and he called up Smokescreen, Sideswipe, and Sunstreaker, telling them what Eclipse's idea was. "Not a bad idea," Sunstreaker said with a nod.

"She is like a mom to us, always making sure we're okay and we refuel and rest properly," Sideswipe said.

"And she cares," Smokescreen said. "I'd say let's do it."

They got going and it wasn't long before they were finished and set the cards in the rec room where Shadow would see them when she came in the next morning.

Mother's Day morning...

Shadow stirred as something softly traced her jaw, making her giggle before she opened her eyes to find Ratchet hovering over her and he smiled, holding up a red rose. "Good morning, my love," he said, kissing her.

She returned the kiss and smiled at him. "Good morning, handsome," she said before stretching and accepting the rose. "What's this for?" She asked curiously.

"It's for Mother's Day, an Earth tradition," he explained.

She smiled. "Earth has some amazing holidays," she said.

Ratchet smiled as he received a comm. "I've just been told there something for you in the rec room," he said.

"Really?" She asked curiously before getting up. "Let's go see."

When they arrived, Shadow noticed five cards on the table and they were all addressed to her. She picked one up and opened it.

"A warrior who is strong,

Someone who looks on the bright side,

There to comfort in times of sadness,

Never forget you are the best.

Happy Mother's Day, Shadow.

Love, Sideswipe"

She saw the card was of a sunrise and she smiled, showing the card to Ratchet, who smiled. "Looks like Eclipse isn't the only one that sees you as a mother," he said.

Smiling, Shadow picked up the second card, seeing it had beautiful flowers on it. She opened it to read what was inside.

"A Mother's touch is one never forgotten,

Because it is full of love,

The first face one sees,

Always beautiful and loving.

Happy Mother's Day, Shadow.

Love, Bumblebee"

Tears began to fill Shadow's eyes at the sweet words as she gently set down that card and picked up the third one that had a picture of a meadow filled with flowers.

"You've been through a lot,

But you've never lost your strength,

One of the most amazing people I know,

Never forget how much you're loved.

Happy Mother's Day, Shadow.

Love, Sunstreaker"

More tears fell down her face as she smiled at the true words. "They must have written these from their sparks," she said to Ratchet.

"Looks like it," he said with a smile as he watched her pick up the fourth card that had a female in full battle armor standing on a rock with a sword held high and read it.

"You make sure I'm alright after I've been hurt,

And you always believe in me when I doubt myself,

You're so amazing that words cannot express it,

But I hope you know just how much you mean to the team.

Happy Mother's Day, Shadow.

Love, Smokescreen"

"They're just so sweet," she said before picking up the last card, seeing it had a picture of a full moon and a sky full of stars and hearts.

"To my mommy who loves me always,

Gives me kisses and hugs when I need them,

She's the person I want to be when I grow up,

Because she's the very best mommy in the world.

Happy Mother's Day, Mommy.

Love, Eclipse"

Shadow picked up the five cards and held them close to her spark. "I never realized they saw me as a surrogate mother," she said.

"I knew," Ratchet said gently. "Because you look after them as if they are your own children and they appreciate that. They all lost their mothers years ago."

She nodded before smiling. "I wonder where they are," she said. "I have to thank them for these wonderful cards."

He smiled. "I think they're in the training room," he said. "Though Eclipse is with Wheeljack."

Nodding, Shadow went to go find the four young mechs.

Bumblebee had just finished a session in the paint ball run and was drying off. "Top that, Sideswipe," he said.

"Watch me," the red Twin said as he started the session.

The yellow mech watched before turning and yelping in shock as something tackled him to the floor and he looked up to see it was Shadow, but before he could say anything, she began 'attacking' his face and neck with playful kisses, making him giggle. "Who's my sweet little Bee?" She cooed to him.

He giggled before she let him up. "What was that for?" He asked with a smile.

She held up the card he gave her and he blushed a little. "Do you like it?" He asked.

She nodded. "Yes," she said. "Because it's from a sweet mech who is like a son to me."

He smiled and saw Sideswipe was almost done the course and hadn't gotten hit. "Show-off," he groused goodnaturedly. "He didn't get any paint on him."

"I can fix that," Shadow said, seeing the session had ended and she ran in, tackling Sideswipe, who yelped in shock as he fell down in a puddle of pain and began laughing as the femme gave him playful kisses on his face and neck, to which he squealed as his neck was his worst spot. "You're just a sweetie, Sides," she cooed. "Thank you for the lovely card."

"AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! YOU'RE WEHEHEHEHEHELCOME!" He laughed out, still giggling when she let him up before she left to find her next target, which was Sunstreaker, who was standing on a mat nearby with Smokescreen in front of him and the two were practicing hand to hand combat.

Sunstreaker had just dodged a punch when something tackled him to the floor and he yelped in shock, his shock growing when he saw who had done so. "Shadow?!" He exclaimed, but began giggling as she planted playful kisses on his neck and face.

"Who's my little ray of sunshine?" She cooed to him.

Sunstreaker would normally hate that, but he decided that he didn't mind if Shadow called him that and he was still giggling as she let him up before she turned her attention to Smokescreen, who looked nervous. "Um, hi, Miss Shadow," he said shyly.

She giggled. "I didn't forget you, Smokey," she said as she ran to tackle him. He squeaked and tried to escape, but she caught him and he was soon giggling from her playful kisses to his face and neck.

Wheeljack walked in with Eclipse on his shoulders and he chuckled as he saw the scene before him. "Something tells me Shadow liked the cards you mechs gave her," he said.

"Yeah," Bumblebee said with a chuckle.

Shadow helped Smokescreen up before going up to Wheeljack, smiling when she saw her daughter. "Good morning, sweetspark. Did you have fun with Uncle Wheeljack?"

"Yeah!" The small femme said before leaping at her mother and hugging her. "Happy Mother's Day, Mommy."

"Thank you, sweetie," she said before turning to the four young mech. "And thank you four too."

"It was our pleasure, Shadow," Sunstreaker said with a nod.

The other three nodded, glad that Shadow was like a surrogate mother to them.

Happy Mother's Day! :)
