Penny Perish-
The first week of classes were supposed to be the easiest, at least that's what I thought in all my previous years of Hogwarts. Then again, in all my previous years I wasn't taking as many advanced or N.E.W.T.-level classes as this year: Study of Ancient Runes, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Ancient Studies, Charms, Advanced Arithmancy, and Transfiguration. I also was personally asked by Professor Flitwick if I would be interested in attending an Alchemy class, which was only for a select few to study. I was so excited to have most of my classes with Marietta and Cho, all except for Alchemy of course.
We woke with the sun, all in our dormitory. Marietta was always the last to wake-up, she was such deep sleeper. Cho on the other hand was thankful if she got any sleep. She didn't sleep much since Cedric's passing due to nightmares that she would have about him. Though, last night she seemed to sleep fine. I put on my white button-down, gray cardigan with the Ravenclaw Eagle in the house crest, and a black skirt. It's been an entire summer since I wore my school uniform, and I guess my body grew a bit since last term, considering my button-down blouse was popping out around my bust and my skirt was just long enough to cover what it needed to. Walking over to Cho and Marietta's beds, they began to giggle at me.
"Pen, what in the name of Merlin happened to your clothes?" Cho questioned shocked at the fit of my uniform.
I felt my face go red. "I didn't try it on before I came back to school."
Marietta giggled in a pitying way. "Penny, you always should try on your Hogwarts uniform before returning! Last year I needed all new clothes, but luckily my mum and I got them before I came back."
"I know, I should've! Ugh…help me," I pleaded, trying to cover the gaps in my blouse that were exposing my chest.
Cho and Marietta started rifling through their own clothes in the trunks at the foot of their beds. Cho, who was significantly smaller than both Marietta and I, handed me her spare knit sweater. I held it up to my body and stood in the mirror. "Err…Cho there is no way that this will fit me."
Marietta threw a blue sweater with black trim at me. "Try this one."
I pulled it over my white blouse, and it just barely fit. It still drew a lot of attention toward my bust with the way it stretched out, but at least everything was covered. The skirt was the next problem.
"Try your dress slacks on instead," Cho suggested.
I did as I was told but the pants wouldn't fit over my much-larger butt. I looked at both of my friends. Neither of them would have pants that could fit me; I was much curvier than either of them. Shit. I guess the skirt was my only option. I left feeling very uncomfortable and self-conscious, that I kept my chest covered by my books the entire walk down to the Great Hall for breakfast.
Walking into the Great Hall, I felt all eyes on me—wait, there were a lot of eyes on me. It seems every seventh-year boy from nearly every house were checking me out, including the Weasley twins. I turned red in the face. This was going to be the longest day ever. I sat down at Ravenclaw table and placed my books on the table in front of me. I heard a whistle from down the table. Marietta stared down at my chest. "Wow, Penny, I didn't realize how much you…changed over the summer," she stated still staring. I picked up my books and held them in my arms to cover myself.
"Is it really that bad?"
"No…" Cho lied.
Marietta nodded; she was never a good liar anyway.
"Oh, dammit." I reached into my bag and pulled out a loose piece of parchment. I needed to write to mum immediately to buy my new clothes. I could not deal with another whole day of this. I written about the urgency and called over a school owl to deliver my note. Hopefully, she would be able to send it before tomorrow.
End of breakfast was nearing, and I was already dreading the day ahead. I stood up, books in hand, and walked out and into the Entrance Hall.
"Hey, Penny, right?" I heard a voice say next to me. It was a seventh-year Ravenclaw Quidditch Captain, Roger Davies. "How was your holiday?"
I blushed—our Quidditch Captain was talking to me! "Oh…err…hey, Roger. Holiday was good, thanks."
"You look…wow," he revealed checking me up and down. I blushed harder at he looked towards my butt. I had a crush on Roger for forever, but never expected him to actually notice me. I couldn't tell if I was uncomfortable or flattered by the attention from Rogers though.
"Oy, Davies, cool it!" yelled a husky voice down the halls. Roger and I turned in succession to see who yelled it. And to my surprise, strutting down the hallway accompanied by his twin, was a Weasley. "You're making her uncomfortable mate."
Roger sized up the Weasley twin, facing toe-to-toe, as I stood off to the side with Marietta and Cho. "As if you weren't looking at her just then in the Great Hall there, huh, Weasley?" Roger tested, slightly taller than the twin, and trying to make the height difference more noticeable by puffing up his chest.
"No need to objectify her though. It's not a good look," the Weasley calmly persisted as his twin came to join his side. Roger knew that if he started anything with the two, that he was clearly outnumbered.
Roger turned to head the opposite way down the hall. "Whatever, mate. No need to start a fight over some girl. We will deal with this on the Quidditch pitch this season." He turned the corner and was out of sight.
Cho put an arm around me, trying to comfort me. Was it weird that I was offended by the fact that Roger Davies called me some girl? I had idolized this guy for years and always thought he was this perfect gentleman. Cho whispered to me, "That was odd, huh?"
"You okay, Penny?" I snapped out of my deep thought and returned my attention to the Weasley twin. The one was closer to me now, not smiling or checking me out, but just looking me right in the eye. I nodded. "Roger is a real git," he stated, then began to walk away.
George Weasley-
It was what seemed like a normal morning for the first day of classes. All the students were still abuzz from talk of the holidays, and the first-year students were looking frantic about their classes. I was walking through the Common Room with Fred and Lee Jordan when I spotted a light blonde-haired boy sitting in an armchair by the fireplace.
"Oliver? What are you doing, mate?"
He looked up, with exhausted eyes, and replied, "I've been studying."
"Studying? For how long? You look exhausted," Fred added.
He looked at his watch, then his eyes popped open. "Oh, I guess all night."
I was flabbergasted. Maybe he was meant to be a Ravenclaw. "But we haven't even had our first class yet."
He collected his books and began packing them into his bag. "Yeah, but I need to know everything for classes."
Fred crouched down to his eye-level and I followed suit. "Olly, all the first-year kids are in the same boat—they know nothing. Don't worry about studying just yet," Fred explained. Fred got up, grabbed Oliver's bag and began to walk out of the Portrait followed by Lee.
I sat Oliver down and seated myself next to him. "I know you are nervous about your classes, but you are supposed to be at Hogwarts. Believe me," I told him with complete confidence.
He looked up at me, and I couldn't tell if his eyes were glossy because he was going to cry or because he was extremely tired. "What if they made a mistake, George? What if I am not magical enough to be here?"
"Well, Oliver, I think you are magical enough. And if you do need help with your classes, I know at least three people who would gladly help you. Me, Fred, and…" I paused as he began to smile, "…your sister."
He showed a broad smile and shook his head in agreement, and together we began the descent down the hallways toward breakfast.
I left Oliver to sit with his first-year friends and joined Fred and Lee at the table. Setting up a plate-full of food, I felt a good portion of the room stop breathing for a moment, then felt an elbow in my side from Fred. "Georgie, look."
I glanced up at the rest of the room and saw that a good amount of the guys was staring at the door to the Great Hall. In the doorway was none other than Penny, followed by her two friends. Penny walked over to her house table and placed her books down, exposing her very tight sweater to the hall. "Damn," said Lee, also staring at Penny. I heard a whistle echo across the room, clearly directed at her. My ears got hot with anger as she grabbed her books to cover her chest again, obviously very uncomfortable. As much as I wanted to see her tight sweater too, I would never want to make her feel like that. As she ate, I caught myself, as well as other guys, taking glances her way here and there. Every time I looked, I hated myself, but I couldn't control it.
I watched as she walked out of the room and into the hallways, and Fred, Lee and I followed on our way to class. I noticed Roger Davies catch up to her pace, and I got angry watching him blatantly check her out—or was I jealous? Rogers said something that made Penny red and I felt the need to jump in. "Oy, Davies, cool it!" I yelled and as soon as I did, Fred shot me a shocked look. "You're making her uncomfortable mate," I continued.
Davies pissed me off on the Quidditch pitch, but I never had an issue with him outside of the sport before now. Davies looked baffled, but replied, "As if you weren't looking at her just then in the Great Hall there, huh, Weasley?" Now I was really mad. Sure, I was looking, but I wasn't being disrespectful per say.
In the corner of my eye, I saw a petite toad-like woman lurking at the end of the hall. I needed to calm things down, or else Umbridge will most-certainly just in. "No need to objectify her though. It's not a good look," I explained as calmly as I possibly could, meanwhile the anger in me bubbled as the closer he got. Fred noticed Umbridge too and stood at my side in moral support.
"Whatever, mate. No need to start a fight over some girl. We will deal with this on the Quidditch pitch this season."
I clenched my fist, ready to swing. How dare he objectify her then call her 'some girl'! Before I could even move my fist, Fred grabbed my arm and pulled it back, subtly so no one noticed. Davies walked away down the hall toward Umbridge, who smiled to herself and disappeared too. I got myself to calm down enough to speak and said, "You okay, Penny?" She nodded softly, but still noticeably. "Roger is a real git." I headed back through the hallway and toward my first class. Fred and Lee followed.
"Wow, brother, you got really feisty back there."
Lee added, "Yeah, George. Davies looked like he could've pounded your face in, mate."
Being a twin has its perks, like when Fred knew I was going to punch Davies but stopped me before I even fully thought it through. Then there are times when being twins suck, like when I have a crush and Fred immediately knows. This was one of those times. Fred wasn't about to say anything to embarrass me, but I knew he knew—and that was embarrassing enough.
