"I'm pregnant," Olivia announced tearing up as she handed the positive pregnancy test to Eddie.

"You're what? How?" Eddie asked, not believing it. He snatched the test out of her hand and analyzed it long and hard. "This has got to be fake."

"It's not, Eddie. I swear," Olivia stated. "I made a doctor's appointment for tomorrow. To confirm it."

"You're sure it's mine? I mean, we haven't recently had sex-"

"Yeah, it's yours. It's gotta be… you're the only man I've been intimate with since we started going out."

They were both too drunk to remember they had unprotected sex five days ago. Olivia was showing early symptoms.

"We're gonna have a kid?" Eddie asked himself out loud. He was freaked out by the thought of it, but he thought about it as good news.

"I can't believe it!" Eddie smiled. "We're gonna have a kid- I'm gonna be a dad, and you're-"

"You're excited about this?!" she snapped at him. "We're only twenty-four-but more importantly-I'm gonna have to stop drinking! For nine whole months."

"It's only nine months…" Eddie whispered. "You can do it."

Olivia scoffed, "Yeah. Easy for you to say. You don't have to stop!"

"Liv, if you drink beer- or any alcohol for that matter, our baby will die!" he argued with her.

Eddie placed his hands on Olivia's shoulders, "I believe you can stop for nine months. Do it for me. If not for me, then for our son or daughter."

Eddie started to tear up too when he placed his hands on her stomach. At first, having a baby sounded like something bad, something that would ruin his life. But within seconds his feelings towards their baby changed. He couldn't wait to meet his first child.

The next day they went to the doctor's appointment, even though Eddie was half-drunk when they showed up, and it was all true. Olivia was pregnant. They did an ultrasound, they could see the baby, even though it was still very small. Eddie was happy. Olivia, on the other hand, was not happy she had to stop drinking. She just couldn't wait until the baby was out of her. Not because she couldn't wait to meet it, but because she couldn't wait to start drinking again.

But with the right motivation and with the help of Eddie, she managed to stay sober for nine months. After the fifth month, she didn't really care if she couldn't drink anymore. And if Eddie wanted to drink, he would go to a bar.

Eddie was with Olivia when she went into labor. Eddie missed the entire birth because he wasn't allowed into the delivery room. Why? Because he was too drunk. Too drunk to witness the birth of his first child.

He was driven home and he came back the next day. Hungover, but he couldn't wait any longer. He walked into the delivery room and saw Olivia laying in the hospital bed holding their baby in her arms. She wasn't looking into its eyes smiling. She had a look of anger all over her face.

"Here, Eddie, take her." It was crystal clear that Olivia didn't want to hold her daughter. She was happy the first time she held her, but now she just doesn't care.

Eddie gasped and then smiled. "Her? We had a girl?"

"Yes!" Olivia said sharply. "Take her."

Eddie happily walked over to the bed and slowly and gently took his daughter into his arms. He thought she looked like an angel. He kissed the top of her head and a small smile appeared on her face for a few seconds before going away.

"She's healthy?" Eddie asked. He couldn't stop staring at her.

"Yes," Olivia replied straight-faced and arms crossed.

"How are you feeling?"

"Like I need a beer, vodka, whiskey- anything."

"Already?" Eddie asked.

"The kid's out of me. I wanna get drunk." Olivia looked Eddie dead in the eyes.

"Not here. Not while we have her." Eddie told her.

"Fine then. I'll go home while you stay here with her. Are we good?" Olivia asked.

"They don't let new mothers leave for a few days-"

Olivia was getting heated, "God! We should've just ended it when we had the chance. She's gonna be nothing but a problem."

"Ended it? No way! Now that she's here- now that you're looking at her, how can you say that?" Before Olivia could respond to Eddie, the nurse walked into the room.

"Hi guys," she said happily.

Eddie smiled, "Hi."

"Have you guys chosen a name for this little munchkin yet?" the nurse asked them.

"No-"

"Yes!" Eddie cut Olivia off then looked at her. "Jennifer. And we can call her Jenna."

Olivia shrugged.

The next few days at the hospital. Olivia wanted nothing to with Jenna, but Eddie wanted everything to do with her. The only time Olivia held her was when she needed to be fed.

Then when they took her home, Eddie stayed sober the whole day because Olivia was doing nothing but getting drunk. Eddie was taking care of Jenna. Eddie stayed sober for as long as he could to take care of Jenna before there were days where he needed to drink. But, Olivia would stay out all night at a bar and would refuse to come home. So on those days, he had to hire a babysitter.

It had been two weeks since Jenna had come home when Olivia had decided to drop a bomb on Eddie.

"Eddie, I gotta talk to you." Olivia walked into Jenna's nursery. It was a miracle she was sober.

Eddie said "sure" as he gently laid his sleeping daughter down in her crib.

"You're not gonna like this, but I don't wanna be with you anymore." Olivia crossed her arms.

"You- are you serious? We just had a kid together." Eddie gestured toward Jenna.

"I just can't be with you anymore. You're constantly asking me to get sober. You don't give me attention anymore, and for god's sake, you keep choosing our kid over me. I won't have it."

Eddie took a deep breath, "First of all, you need to get sober to be able to care for your child properly. I'm always taking care of her, Liv! You're not doing your part. And I don't give you attention because I'm always with Jenna! And if I'm balancing work-because you won't get one-and taking care of Jenna, I can't and I won't always put you as priority number one!"

Before Olivia could reply, their yelling awoke Jenna and she began crying for Eddie. Eddie sighed and picked her up in his loving arms. Her crying stopped abruptly.

"You know what, maybe you should go. We're better off." Eddie whispered.

Olivia scoffed, "you think she's staying? She's coming with me."

"No. She's not." Eddie spoke through his teeth.

"Mothers are more important to kids than fathers. You know it. It's just how it is. I'm leaving tomorrow and she's coming-"

"Jenna is staying with me! You want nothing to do with this kid. You never take care of her, you haven't held her since the hospital. If it were just you, you would let her starve! So she's not leaving with you, I won't let you take her. Period!" Eddie didn't mean to yell again, especially right in Jenna's ear. But he was mad. Livid, actually. They argued and argued, but Olivia was not giving. So Eddie took her to court for custody.

The judge found neither of them fit to raise a kid alone. Therefore, the judge ordered that Jennifer Saville was put into foster care. The judge gave them both a chance to get custody back if they got sober.

Eddie wanted to be with his daughter. He wanted to raise her. He wanted to give Jennifer a life. He wanted to be the one to witness her first steps, to teach her how to ride a bike without training wheels. To witness all her firsts. So he didn't hesitate to go into rehab. He missed the next three months of Jenna's life.

When he returned from rehab, he met up with Olivia. She was still drinking. She hadn't even thought of getting help for her alcoholism.

At the end of the week, they both went back to the judge. The judge granted Eddie full custody of Jenna.

Eddie just couldn't wait to see his baby girl again. He arrived at her foster house to pick her up.

"How is she? Do you think she'll recognize me?" Eddie was flooding Janet, Jenna's foster mother, with questions about Jenna.

Her foster father, Dave, was playing blocks with Jenna in her room when Eddie's voice could be heard clear as day from the hallway. Jenna suddenly lifted her head and a smile showed on her face. She recognized her dad's voice. When he set foot into her nursery, she reached out to him, asking him to pick her up. Eddie didn't hesitate to.

Eddie teared up when he realized how much his daughter had grown. He kissed the top of her head.

"I'm so sorry I left, but I'm here now. And I promise you I will never drink again. I will always be here for you. And I don't think you have a mom anymore... but you still have me. You still have a father. You always will." Eddie said to Jenna looking her dead in the eyes.

And he kept that promise to her. By the time Jenna had turned three years old, she and Eddie were closer than close. And she knew the meaning of no.

Olivia had made no efforts to see Jenna or Eddie. But Eddie still calls her once in a while to make sure she's still alive.

Eddie was continuing to raise Jenna alone for another year before he met John Dixon, Gary Mendez, Rome Howard, and Katherine.

Katherine loved Jenna and Jenna loved Katherine. And it wasn't long until Eddie and Katherine fell in love, and got married. Jenna was the flower girl at their wedding. That was supposed to be a positive experience for her, who knew that her aunt Lindsay would ruin that for her. That's when Eddie decided she had to stop being in his life.

Three years later, when Jenna was six, Katherine gave birth to her little half brother, Theo. The three of them couldn't have been happier.

Now, fifteen years later, Jenna is fifteen, and Theo is nine. And Jenna and Eddie couldn't be any closer, even if they tried.
