Sorry for the late update! I'm really sorry.. I've just been really busy trying to think of my other chapters and stories, guess that's what I get for starting multiple stories at once. And also schoolwork, it's been pretty hard. Ok, thank you! Enjoy!
After the encounter with Hermione, Fred went back up to his room. He found his owl with a letter, most likely Hermione's. He took it, pet the bird for a while, then opened the envelope. The letter read:
Dear person,
I do not know who you are, so I called you person. Please forgive me. Thank you for all those compliments, although I do not know if you mean it. Please tell me who you are because without knowing you, there might not be a chance. Thank you.
Yours, Hermione.
"Yeah, sure. I'll tell you who I am then people will have a laugh at me." Fred said aloud. He shook his head, folded up the parchment and tucked it under his pillow. He stripped his shirt off and got into his bed. Might as well take a nap, Fred thought. Although he couldn't sleep. His mind kept wondering about Hermione. Should I really tell her that it's me? I won't stand much of a chance if she doesn't know. What if she turns me down? I'll make a big fool of myself, that won't be pleasant. Fred, you've got to make up your mind. Soon, Fred finally fell asleep to his thoughts.
Back in Ginny's room, Hermione was also in deep thought. She thought recognized the handwriting. It's gotta've been Fred, I know that handwriting! Who else would it be? Ugh, Hermione, no. It's not, it can't! I wish. Then Ginny entered the room.
"Hey, uh, Gin?" Hermione called.
"Hm?"
"I was wondering if you know, or at least have an idea, of who's sending me these letters?"
Ginny stopped what she was doing. Great, just great, Ginny thought. She hated lying to her best friend, but Ginny most definitely didn't want to hurt her favorite brother. "Gin?"
"Oh, yeah, sorry. No, I don't know. Have you asked anyone else? Or wrote back?" Ginny answered. Hermione nodded. "Yes, I've asked Fred after writing back." She asked Fred, Ginny thought. "Oh." Was all that Ginny said. Hermione shrugged, and pulled out a book. She could hear Ginny's eyes roll to the back of her head and it made her laugh. Ginny, knowing what Hermione was laughing about, laughed with her.
Some time later, Mrs. Weasley called for dinner. Hermione had fallen asleep while reading, and her head lay on the pages.
"Hey sleepyhead." Someone called. Hermione looked up to see who it was. It was Fred. She smiled.
"Hey." Hermione replied, sitting up straight.
"Falling asleep while reading? Typical Hermione." Fred joked. Hermione giggled. She closed her book and put it away while Fred sat down on her bed. Then Ginny walked in the room. She raised an eyebrow at Fred but saw Hermione.
"Morning sleepyhead." She called.
"I already said sleepyhead." Fred said, making Hermione grin.
"Fine. Morning Sleeping Beauty." Ginny said with a wink. Hermione laughed and when she wasn't looking, Ginny gave Fred a look meaning what are you doing here? Fred gave her a look as well saying I wanted to talk to her. Ginny's eyes widened and nodded.
"Kids! Dinner's ready!" Mrs. Weasley called from the stairs. The three of them groaned and Ginny was the first to leave the room. Fred got up and held out a hand to help Hermione up. She smiled at this gesture and gladly accepted. They went down together and sat next to each other. Ginny smirked at Fred who shook his head at her. The rest came down and Mrs. Weasley started dinner.
Dinner was ok. There were many conversations, plates full of food flying around, laughing, it was lively. But one thing kept bugging Hermione: who was her secret admirer? She had a hunch on who it is, but there were so many reasons why it wouldn't be him. Hermione sat in silence for a while, staring blankly out the window.
"Hey." Someone called. Hermione broke her gaze and slightly turned her head. It was Fred and he was smiling at her. She smiled back.
"Hey, sorry." Hermione replied.
"No, you're fine. You just kinda blanked out there." Fred said.
"Oh, yeah. I was just thinking 'bout something." Hermione explained, looking down at her finished plate.
"What were you thinking' 'bout?" Fred asked. Think of something, Granger! Hermione thought. She couldn't think of anything.
"You know, the letter." She answered truthfully with a shrug.
"Oh." Fred flatly answered. He looked down at his lap, contemplating about whether he should tell Hermione or not.
After dinner, Hermione filled a glass with some water and downed it quickly. A hand was placed on her shoulder. She whipped her head around to see who it was.
"Relax." Fred said calmly, now placing both hands on her shoulders and rubbing them. Hermione liked this.
"Fine. You help me then." She answered, smirking. Fred smirked back and continued his doing. Hermione tilted her head a little back, enjoying this.
"C'mon, let's go somewhere else." Fred said. Hermione nodded and Fred took her to Mr. Weasley's "garage".
The two entered the shed full of many items and Fred led Hermione to a sofa there. She sat down and Fred sat with her.
"Come here." Fred said to Hermione, patting his lap. Hermione layed down there whole Fred started to play with her hair. She loved it and felt so relaxed. She closed her eyes, savoring the sensation of it all.
"Who do you think is your secret admirer?" Fred asked. Hermione dared not to open her eyes.
"I dunno, honestly. I have a hunch, but I'm pretty sure it's not him." Hermione answered.
"Really?" Fred asked. Hermione nodded. "Care to tell me who it is then? Or who you think it is?"
This made Hermione open her eyes and sit up. She looked straight at him. She shrugged.
"I don't want to embarrass myself." Hermione explained, looking down. Fred pulled her into a hug.
"You could never embarrass yourself in front of me. Everything you do is amazing." Fred said reassuringly.
"You mean it?" Hermione asked against his neck.
"Every bit of it." Fred answered. She sighed and pulled away. Hermione opened her mouth slightly to speak, but nothing came out. Fred reaches out and held her hands in his.
"Mione?" He asked softly. "C'mon, there's no need to be shy in front of me. Tell me."
Hermione sighed. "Ok, fine. I- I think.. I think it's you." Hermione shut her eyes at the last part, fearing what Fred would say. She felt one of his hands escaping hers and she got scared of his reaction. Instead, she felt that hand lifting her chin up so Hermione could look Fred in the eyes. She opened hers, and saw Fred smiling softly at her.
"You don't think it's me, you know it's me. You're right. I have been sending you those love letters and that's why I asked you for advice. There was never really another girl, it was always you. Just you. I understand if you don't feel the same way-" Fred got cut off by Hermione's lips on his. He closed his eyes and kissed back.
"Of course I would feel the same. I have always liked you, hell, even loved you. I'll never stop." Hermione said, pulling away. She snaked her arms up onto Fred's neck, his hands holding her hips.
"Me too, Hermione. I love you, and always will." Fred said, leaning in again. They're lips met, the two loving every second of it.
2 years later...
The war had been won. People no longer had to live their lives in fear. Hermione was a big part of winning the war, being in the Golden Trio and all. Fred was so scared for Hermione, not wanting her to go. She assured him that she will come back in one piece and will come back to him. Fred had kissed her so passionately, before saying ok. Then I love you. Hermione started crying a bit, going to miss Fred so much. When the Trio returned to Hogwarts, Hermione immediately started looking for Fred. She found him and practically leaped into his arms. He hugged her tightly and she did the same. Hermione kissed him for a long time, Fred doing the same. They were happy to see each other again. But then they had to fight in the battle. They got separated. When they were able to stop fighting for some time, Hermione ran to the Great Hall, looking around. She saw the family of red heads. She ran over to them and saw Fred on the ground. Hermione immediately started sobbing, looking at Fred's body. Then he spoke.
"Hermione?" Fred hoarsely asked. The Weasley family was shocked but happy. "Mione, that you?"
Hermione cried happily while nodding. "Yes, Fred, it's me."
"I'm never leaving you." Fred said. Hermione cried even more and hugged him.
"Me neither."
Then Harry finally defeated Voldemort. The war was won. Fred was taken to St. Mungo's to recover from his injuries and Hermione stayed with him the whole time. After he had gotten better, the couple left the hospital, hand in hand, and headed to the Burrow. But Fred felt scars on Hermione's wrist.
"Hermione, what's this about?" Fred had asked. Hermione felt his fingers running over the scar saying "mudblood" that Bellatrix had carved in. Hermione's eyes stung with tears. Fred had lifted her hand close up to his face and examined the scar on her wrist. Hermione looked away, not wanting to relive the pain.
"Who did this to you?" Fred had asked, so hurt and gentle.
"B-Bellatrix." Hermione said, having a hard time to not let the tears fall. Fred turned Hermione so she could face him and looked at her. He pulled Hermione into the best comforting hug. Hermione started crying.
"It's ok. It's all over now. I heard Mum killed her off. Guess dealing with 7 children really payed off." Fred said. Hermione laughed lightly at the end, and thanked Fred.
After the two had started doing more things together again, Fred had an idea. On Hermione's birthday, they were going to celebrate at the Burrow. They surprised Hermione greatly and she thanked them so many times. Fred kissed her softly, Hermione kissing back. His arms cradled her waist while her hands played with his hair. Then at the dinner, after Hermione opened her presents, Fred found this the perfect time.
"Actually, Hermione. I have one more gift for you." Fred said, standing up. He walked over to Hermione's seat, took her hands in his, and led her over to the front of the table.
"Hermione Jean Granger, when I first met you, you were only Ron's best friend, the smarted witch there was, but then I realized there was something more." Fred started, getting down on one knee. Hermione knew where this was going and she covered her mouth in surprise. "I realized that you were the only girl I have ever actually loved. I wanted you in my future, I wanted, and still do, you for eternity. I love you so much, Hermione. So, will you do the honors and be my wife? Will you marry me?"
Hermione's eyes filled up with tears of joy and she nodded. "YES!" She squealed out. The Weasley's and Harry all applauded and congratulated them. Fred lifted Hermione up into another kiss. He set her down and rested his forehead on hers. "You're my forever." Fred said. "You're my forever as well." Hermione replied.
Then the wedding came. It was so beautiful. It was held in the Weasley's backyard. There was a tent where Hermione and Fred would vow to be with each other and love each other forever. It was decorated with flowers of all sorts, fairy lights, lanterns, many decorations. After the "I do" then they were finally a married couple. They kissed each other like never before, and everyone was either crying happily, squealing excitedly, wolf whistling, or that was just George and Lee, and applauding. The party and celebration was amazing.
Now, a year later, Hermione was cradling a baby in her arms. Her head was on Fred's chest, Fred playing with her hair.
"She's beautiful." Hermione said in awe.
"Well she takes after her mother." Fred said, Hermione smiling at this. She quietly said, "Thank you" and Fred added, "But you can't run from the hair. The Weasley's famous red hair will always come through."
Hermione laughed at his statement. It was true though, their daughter had bright red hair like her father. And her many uncles, aunt, and grandparents. It was curly just like Hermione's. Fred kissed the top of Hermione's head.
"It all started with a love letter." Fred said, smiling.
"It all started with a love letter." Hermione echoed. She turned around to face Fred and the two kissed.
"I love you Hermione." Fred said, slightly pulling away.
"I love you too Fred." Hermione said. They leaned in again, and kissed.
It all started with a love letter.
