This has been bouncing in my head for a while. Might turn it into a story. I'm not sure.
Based off the song; Somewhere with you by Kenny Chesney
Mox leaned against the bar his grey eyes fixed on her across the room. She was beautiful her hair was let down and fell in long blonde waves. She was smiling; that smile fuck what that smile did to him. That used to be his smile. She wore tight blue jeans and a buttoned up red and black flannel shirt. She was perfect.
She wasn't his anymore.
The dumb blonde he had dragged with him was rambling beside him. If she had moved on so was, he, there was no time for a pity party or heart break. He was Jon fucking Moxley, he didn't feel. The ice clinked in the glass as he threw back another round of Jack.
The pain was slowly fading replaced by the sweet numbness the liquor provided. The one love in the world that never let him down. He hadn't even noticed he was staring until her eyes met his from across the room and he had to bite back the whine that bubbled into his throat. She smiled sadly at him before looking away.
Mine his mind snarled as he remembered how good it had been.
"Move your big butt over Mox" She teased as they settled into the seat of the Ferris wheel. She had begged him to go on the ride with her. And as with all things he couldn't tell her no.
"How can someone so damn small take up an entire bench" He laughed as she stuck her tongue out. The ride lurched into gear making her yelp and cling to him. She breathed in his cologne and the smell of his old leather jacket.
"I love you"
"Another round Mox?" the bartender hollered snapping him from his thoughts. Nodding he shoved his glass over rubbing his hands roughly over his face. He could do this; she had no call on him.
"SWEET CAROLINE BUM BUM BUM" Mox hollered into the night as the car drove through the dark. She rolled her eyes, but that smile was there regardless. She loved his quirks and how carefree he could be.
"You're insane this is a horrible song"
"It's a great song sung by a great voice"
The car hummed into the hotel lot and Mox ignored the curious glances she threw his way. Tonight, was they're anniversary and he was going to make it exactly what she deserved. Opening the door, he ran around to open hers and took her hand as they made their way to the hotel door.
"Mox what's going on?" She whispered gripping his hand as he fiddled with the lock. His rough palm came over her eyes as she heard the door click and he gently guided her into the room. It was warm and she could smell flowers.
Clearing his throat, he dropped his hands smiling shyly at her as she took in the room.
Candles were lit and there was roses everywhere. Her favorite meal was on the table and they're song played quietly in the background.
"I hope you like it I tried I mean I'm not exactly a romantic kitten, but I wanted it to be..." He didn't get to finish his sentence before she launched into his arms kissing the breath out of him.
"I love it, I love you" She whispered as he held her tight. Mox breathed in smelling the coconut shampoo she used.
"I love you to"
Ditching his date Mox stumbled down the street and into a cab. His mind was reeling, even the alcohol was failing to take the edge off seeing her leave with that POS. Knocking his head against the seat Mox closed his eyes willing the world to stop spinning.
Groaning Mox rolled over to smack his phone as it buzzed obnoxiously against his wooden nightstand.
"Y'ello"
"Jon?" He sat straight up instantly awake at the break in her voice. She almost never called him Jon.
"What's wrong kitten?" He found himself whispering fearful of breaking her.
"My mom I just…she's…. can you come get me?"
"I'm on my way"
Throwing on jeans and a black hoodie he stepped out in the rain and jogged to his car. He'd always come to her rescue. Always.
Paying the cab driver and stumbling through the dark Mox passed out in his bed. But even sleep wasn't peaceful, she haunted his dreams. Morning rolled around and he dutifully ate his breakfast and headed to the power plant to train.
The day dragged on with Sami desperately trying to light the fire that used to be Jon Moxley. Clocking out Mox headed for home only to find himself on her street. She was dancing in the kitchen bouncing from counter to counter. He laughed quietly when she dropped her spoon shrugging and shaking her head as she picked it up. But the happiness was short lived as the guy from the bar wrapped his arms around her. Moxley's stomach rolled. Hours ticked by and without even realising it Mox had sat there until midnight when the lights turned out.
Growling Mox snagged his phone and dialed the number he knew would pick up. His ex would always come when he called. He imagined she was to him what he was to her, but the pain outweighed the guilt. Later that night he laid there listening to the waves crash against the beach. Even the beach was tainted with thoughts of her.
"It's so beautiful" She sighed watching the boats skim across the water. She was in her red and black bikini curled between Moxley's legs.
"You're beautiful"
They laid together for what felt like hours before a slow drizzle began to fall.
"We're going to get wet" She groaned glaring at the sky with her lip out.
"We were wet from the ocean anyway babe" He laughed when she threw sand his way.
A loud clap of thunder shook the beach underneath it, making her yelp and dive into his arms. He nuzzled her neck placing kissing along her collar bone as she clung to him.
"I don't want to go home" She whispered as he lifted her to her feet. He knew her home life was bad her mother drank, and her father drank more. She had cried herself to sleep in his arms more times then he could count.
He held her hand as they walked the pier climbing into her car as the rain clouds opened into a down pour. She shoved him against the seat climbing into his lap as desperation rolled off her in waves.
"I hate my life" She whimpered bending down to whisper in his ear "hold onto me"
His arms snaked around her waist, he would do anything to take her and run away but neither of them had the means.
"If you go, I go" He whispered holding her tight against him.
It had been weeks since he had seen her, his entire body ached for her, but she was happy now. He wouldn't ruin that for her. Eventually his body would forget, maybe his mind wouldn't but eventually the pain would fade.
Party after party, idle minds. He refused to stand still or let his brain have a free moment. Sami would take him out and they'd burn the town down. The bar was pounding and Mox was half cut with his arm around some ring rat. They were so loud Mox failed to hear her come up beside him.
"Hi Mox"
Her voice was enough to knock the wind out of him. He stuttered out a hello watching as she took her drink and walked away. Dropping his drink and some cash on the bar he walked out of the bar. Stealing a glance at her snuggle up with the other guy.
Gone.
I can go out every night of the week
Can go home with anybody I meet
But it's just a temporary high 'cause when I close my eyes
I'm somewhere with you, somewhere with you
