Still in quarantine, for now. Still bored. Started watching "The Black Donnelly's" again and this is just a new take on an old fanfic I never finished on here. So, enjoy! If anyone else still looks at these, which is doubtful.
"There were the Donnelly Brothers: Jimmy, Tommy, Kevin, and Sean, along with Jenny Reilly, and the Princess herself: Cassie Farrell," Joey Ice Cream was saying.
"Farrell? Dokey's daughter?" the detective across from him asked.
"Oh yeah," Joey said, leaning forward. "Yeah, her father may not have been okay with her hanging out with them much, but her Uncle Huey encouraged it. He was hoping it would toughen her up, and it did." He paused for a moment. "She could kick anyone's ass in a bar fight, mine included." He blanched when he realized what he said. "Not that she ever did," he said quickly. The detective chuckled.
"The bodies, Joey," he was reminded.
"I'm getting to them!" he said.
"Kevin, two thousand dollars?" Tommy looked incredulously at his brother. Cassie was sitting on the opposite side of the table from Kevin, drinking her alcoholic beverage through a straw and watching the scene unfold in front of her. Kevin just shrugged. "How could you lose two thousand dollars on Jai-alai?! You don't even know what it is!" Tommy sat his beer down on the table. "Show me how you play, Kevin!" He sighed. "Only you could lose two thousand dollars on something you never even seen." And with that, Tommy walked away with his beer in hand towards the bar and Sean.
At that moment, Cassie stopped sucking on her straw, setting her own beer down on the table and turning to face Kevin a bit more, leaning in.
"So, you didn't tell him the real amount?" she said with a smile at him. Kevin gave a guilty grin.
"Three thousand dollars?!" Tommy yelled from the bar, right at Kevin. Cassie turned to suppress her laugh with her hand.
"Shut up," Kevin said, smiling in spite of himself. Kevin watched as his brother went over to the pool table and Jenny before bringing his attention back onto the Irish girl before him. Her auburn hair was pulled back into a ponytail, her green eyes lit up from her smile, and it all really complimented her pale skin with a slight smattering of freckles across her face. "Why didn't you tell him since you find this so amusing?"
"I didn't want Donnelly blood all over my face," she answered, still smiling. They were both leaning into the table. Not too long after that, Jenny came over with a drink and a bowl of chips, setting them down on the table between the two.
"So, did you figure out how you're getting that four grand yet?" Jenny asked, hands on her hips, facing Kevin. Cassie couldn't help it, she burst out laughing. "What?" Jenny asked, confused.
"Oh my God," Cassie slapped her knee, rocking the table slightly.
"Shut up, Cass," Kevin said, rolling his eyes.
"Hey, no banging on the machines!" Jimmy yelled at Joey from behind the bar.
"It took my money," Joey retorted.
"It's supposed to take your money!" Jimmy yelled back.
"You wanna yell in my other ear?!" a random man at the bar shouted at Jimmy. Kevin and Cassie shared a knowing look, this wasn't going to end well. Cassie removed the straw, swigging down the rest of her beer. Not even two seconds later, Jimmy was crawling over the counter, attacking the man.
Cassie turned to grab Joey by the collar, pulling him out with her as the boys dealt with their bar brawl their own way.
"Thanks," Joey said. She just nodded. They quickly walked away from the bar as the cops pulled up out front. Before long, they split up and Cassie headed back to her apartment.
She slipped her key into the lock, walked in, and closed the door behind her. She slipped the heels she had been wearing off and peeled off her thin jacket, throwing it onto her couch. That's when her phone started ringing. Sighing, she fished it out of her purse and flipped it open immediately, noticing that it was Kevin.
"Did you finally tell Tommy the actual amount?" she said, smirking.
"Not really," he told her.
"You know I can help you out, Kev," she told him.
"That isn't fair to you," he told her. She just rolled her eyes, opening her fridge and fishing out a bottle of water. "Plus, we got it figured out," he told her.
"Define 'we'," she took a swig of her water.
"Don't worry, Cass, it's covered," he told her. Then there was a slight pause before he said, "I gotta go. I'll talk to ya later."
"Alright, bye, Kev," and with that, they hung up the phone.
A few hours pass before Cassie's phone rang again. She was sitting on her couch, engrossed in a book, grabbing for her cell phone blindly in front of her.
"Hello?" she answered.
"Did you know that my idiot brothers were planning on kidnapping Louie Downtown?" Tommy's voice asked in her ear. She was in such shock, she dropped both her book and her phone.
