The sky's hue seemed oddly green that day in Marlboro. Especially odd given the summer season brought more heat than life to the world. One thing I learned that day is that green skies aren't telling you that today is going to be normal. Chances are it'll be pretty bizarre.

My life changed in the span of 30 seconds. I never got a quick minute to prepare. I barely had food in my stomach. And my phone was only at 27%. In 30 seconds, those that used to be the most important things in my morning lost their relevance. My name is Joshua Jolt. My friends call me JoJo. And this is my bizarre adventure.

I sat down at a bench to eat the donut I just bought. "The world might not run on Dunkin but I sure as hell do."

30: A guy wearing bright blue and orange starts running down from the nearest pharmacy with a half-unlocked briefcase in his hand.

20: "Hey, I know baseball season's still going on, but you don't have to be that ready for the mets to lose!" I laugh to myself. He never even noticed the comment. He was running away too panicked to hear anyone else say anything.

10: "Woah, hey, slow down!" He's running straight at me.

5: He trips and loses his grip on the briefcase.

4: The briefcase hits the ground, opening up.

3: The contents of the briefcase, an arrow pops out flying towards me.

2: I panic and put up my hand in an attempt to stop the arrow from hitting me

1: The arrow pierces the skin of my hand

"Ah, what the hell? OW! Watch where you're going!" I yell at him, but before I can even get a sentence through, he picks up the arrow and runs off again. "You know, it's people like you who are ruining this country! Damned Mets fans. Just root for the Yankees like the rest of us." I see my donut on the floor and wince. "And that is just icing on the shit cake we'll be having today, ladies and gentlemen." I started walking to the pharmacy the Mets fan raced past in order to get some medication.

I saw IT as soon as I turned the corner. A giant greyish red, muscle bound man was floating in mid-air. It's skin covered in cracks as if it was broken asphalt. If that was weird enough, its arms' diameters shrunk the closer it got to the wrist to the point where the hands seem more like blunt points from a distance.

Underneath the unbelievable apparition was a man in a glittering blue suit and sunglasses. Both of them had hair cut down to no more than half an inch from their scalps. He looked at me and smiled. "I see, so you can see my Road Jack, huh? I knew me and that blue and orange weirdo weren't the only stand users in town."

I was so shocked by the last minute of my life that I couldn't string a decent sentence together. "A-a stand user? What-what do you mean? What's a stand? How am I using it?"

The smile fell away from his face. "Really? Either you're new or you're faking and I can't say I like either one of those." He took out a notebook and threw it at me. "The name's Charles. Charles Ray. I will give you exactly two minutes to read that guide. After that, anything I do is fair game."

"What?" I asked in complete bewilderment.

"1 minute and 55 seconds left."

I didn't need another warning after that. I looked through the book and it gave me the basic rundown of stands. "Manifestations of our fighting spirit." "Six primary stats." "Special abilities." "Way to unlock a stand after creation: Feel the sudden urge to fight for your life." I stopped on that last one. "Ah, shit."

"Times up! Road Jack, hit it!" In a second the greyish red ghost, Road Jack, sped towards me taking up the two meters between us and thrusted his blunt, pointed fist straight in the direction of my face. I wince and prepare for the pain. Seconds past but the only thing I felt was a dull pain in the center of my palm. I opened my eyes expecting to see the color of Road Jack's brick skin. But instead, the color wasn't dull. It wasn't cracked. And it wasn't red. Quite the opposite, I saw shining, pure green. I stared at the back of this new apparition with awe. Standing at least six feet tall, The full body of it seemed to be pure neon green. It had a broadsword running down the full length of its back as well as purple chain mail adorning its torso. The sword and shoulder pads were the brightest silver I'd ever seen in my life. Its face was normal in all but the eyes. Instead of two normal eyes, it had one down-ward slanted line similar to the opening of a knight's helmet.

"What in the world?"

"You're welcome. I unlocked your stand for you. Care to tell me its name?"

I wasn't sure why or how, but a name was already stuck in my head. A name that feels like it was always there, but never allowed to come out until now. As if something was finally free from the prison of my mind and wanted to roam straight from my tongue to the rest of the world.

"Neon Knight."

"Nice. But I think you're going to find that even with a stand, you won't be getting out of this easy."

No time to think about this. I need to run away and regroup. As I tried to pivot and run away, I fell straight down onto my back. Why can't I move my legs?

"Thanks to my stand's special ability, you won't be going anywhere. Whenever I land a blow on an opponent, they lose the ability to run away. A radius is created around me with the distance being however far apart we were when I hit you. Any time you plan on using your foot to move out of this radius, your foot won't be able to take that step. You can't drag it out either, so don't waste your time. Your body is stuck being at most that far away from me. And that's not even everything. Whenever you step forward, once both legs are even closer to me than the original radius, the radius changes to match the foot furthest away from me. Take even two steps closer, and you won't be able to take those steps back. Sorry, jack, but you can't go back no more! No more! No more! No more!"

That is a lot of information. He's been talking a while so I'm over freaking out. Basically, I can only stay where I am, move around him or get closer. If I lean too far while going back, my foot won't follow and I'll fall over.

I get up using my hands.

Even though it didn't hit me directly, I can tell that Road Jack has a stronger punch that Neon Knight. Going head to head in a brawl isn't ideal. Wait a minute, what's that on Neon Knight's shoulder?

Neon Knight's shoulder pads seem to have two small orbs on top of each of them. And the one furthest to its right is glowing bright.

What are those? Do they have something to do with Neon Knight's ability?

Then I got a sudden feeling inside of me. It almost felt like information was downloading into my brain.

That's it!

I took a step forward.

"Oho, you're approaching me?"

"Neon Knight, hit it!"

Neon Knight rushes forward and attempts to punch Road Jack, but Road Jack catches the blow.

"Hah! What did you think that would accomplish? It's pretty obvious my Road Jack is stronger than your Neon Knight."

"Maybe, but first, why don't you try taking a step back?"

Charles Ray wondered what he meant and attempted to step back, but couldn't move his foot. He then noticed that the glow from Neon Knight's shoulder orb vanished. "What?"

"Yeah, it looks like one of my stand's abilities is to save any attack that hits it, as well as any effect it might have. It's all saved in his shoulder's orbs. Which means I'm stuck in your radius as much as you're stuck in mine."

I take two steps closer.

"So what?! Even if I can't get away, Neon Knight has nothing on Road Jack's strength and speed!" Road Jack started attacking Neon Knight. One blow landed in Neon Knight's hand, but it was followed by a blow to the arm. I bent over a little in pain. Two orbs shone on Neon Knight's shoulder. "Maybe you can hit me just as hard, but only if I hit you first. So I'll just keep on hitting you!"

Road Jack landed a blow on Neon Knight's face. Three Orbs. The last blow went straight into the gut, keeling over both Neon Knight and me. Four orbs Charles started to laugh maniacally.

"Hahahahaha! Congratulations. Most can't give me this good of a fight, but alas our time ends here. Goodbye, boy!"

But before he can do anything, I start to laugh. "Hahahahahaha. Yeah, you're right. It looks like things are done, but not the way you think."

Charles gets angry. "Road Jack, hit it! You won't come back no more! No more! No more! No more!" As Road Jack winds up his punch, all the orbs on Neon Knight's shoulders vanish.

"Go, Neon Knight!" Neon Knight takes the sword off its back and cuts Road Jack's hand open, doing the same to Charles Ray.

"WHAT?! How?" Charles Ray screams from the top of his lungs due to the rage and pain he feels.

"Quite simple. Neon Knight can only draw his sword by using up all his orb lights. When he does, the sword gains the strength of all the blows stored up. Only issue is that it gets rid of all the effects Neon Knight put onto you. That's why I got closer. So you wouldn't be able to run away fast enough to stop me from cutting you down."

"What the hell? Five minutes ago, you didn't even know what a Stand was. How could I have lost to you? God Damn it!"

"Now take your effect off of me or there'll be more to deal with." I threatened him pretty bluntly.

Good thing I didn't tell him the power only lasts one attack.

"Ok. OK. Just please don't hurt me."

He let me go and I walked into the pharmacy. Needed bandages and stuff for some new wounds now.
