A/N: Hey everyone, hope you're all doing alright during this quarantine. I've had this on my laptop for quite some time now, and figured it might be fun to share. Please read on for a short story about what happens when May makes a brief visit to Drew in his hometown.

Drew's CoverGirl

A knock sounded on the front door. Sighing, Drew put down the magazine he was reading, Coordinator Craze: Hoenn. The green-eyed teenager still couldn't believe that he'd caved and purchased a magazine produced by the tabloids. He hated the tabloids, but once he'd seen the front cover of this issue, he simply couldn't help himself.

The knock sounded once more, and Drew rolled his eyes as he went to tell whoever it was to leave him be.

Drew opened the door, and surprise crossed his features as he saw Hoenn's glorified princess standing in his doorway. She was shivering, her cheeks rosy from the cold as her breath came out in short, cool puffs.

"May? What are you doing here?" He opened the door wider and motioned for her to come in. She stepped in gratefully, rubbing her arms in a feeble attempt to warm herself up. It was mid-January, and Hoenn had seen far more snow than expected this winter. The region was at the coldest it had been in over a century. So why on earth was she even on the road in the first place?

"Well, I was out travelling towards Lilycove and I thought I'd stop by LaRousse to check out the Battle Tower. But when I got here I didn't really know how the sidewalks worked," she trailed off, looking down at her coat. It was only then that Drew noticed her jacket was soaking wet, dripping bits of muddy water on the ends. No wonder she was so cold.

Drew smirked. "Ah, so you fell off the moving sidewalks. Typical thing to hear from you."

May rolled her eyes and chose to ignore his remark. "Could you throw this in the dryer for me? Please?"

"Sure, why not," he said with a flick of his hair. She handed him her jacket and he proceeded down the hallway towards the laundry room. When he came back he noticed that she was still shivering, and he raised an eyebrow at her. "You're not even wearing a sweater?"

She merely nodded her head 'no.' Sighing, he agreed to let her borrow one of his for the time being and led her up to his room. Without thinking, he told her to sit on his bed while he looked for a sweater in his closet.

May sat quietly on the bed, observing her surroundings. As she leaned back on her hands she felt smooth paper crinkle beneath them. She turned around on the bed and saw an open copy of a magazine, facing down. May removed her hands and saw that it was an issue of Coordinator Craze: Hoenn.

"I didn't think he kept up with the tabloids," May murmured to herself as she turned it over in her hands. Her eyes widened slightly and a blush crept up her face as she saw the page he'd been reading, or rather, looking at.

He was supposedly reading Hoenn's Hottie of the Month section, and this month their little 'hottie' just happened to be May. Of the two pages devoted to the rather popular column, one was a full picture of May modelling in a long, flattering dress she'd worn for a photo shoot a few months back. The other page contained an article about May and what she'd been up to the past couple of months.

May's cheeks tinged red as she looked towards the closet. Was she the reason that Drew purchased this magazine? She quickly scanned his room for other issues. The desk, the bookshelf, his dresser – and found nothing. So, if he didn't normally read Coordinator Craze, maybe he did see something special about this issue. Turning back to the magazine in her hand, a sly grin settled itself on her face.

Maybe he had bought it because she was featured in it. She could have some fun with this.

"Hey, Drew?"

"Yes?"

"Remind me how you feel about the tabloids again?"

May heard a loud "hmph" coming from his closet. "They're a load of crap."

"Really?" May flipped a page nonchalantly. "You don't use them to keep tabs on anyone?"

Drew emerged from the closet. "Why would I-" His mouth dropped, and he stopped abruptly as he took in the sight of May. Sitting there on his bed with a telling smirk on her face, she continued to flip through the pages with a hint of attitude as she looked him dead in the eye. Her smirk grew when his cheeks tinged red, and he wished for nothing more than the ability to go back in time and hide that damn thing before he had let her into his room.

"Is there anything you want to tell me?" May said.

"Nope." Drew handed her the sweater and swiftly left his room.

Waiting for the dryer to finish was absolutely agonizing for Drew. May had caught him red handed and she knew it. He knew it. So, he decided he would spend the next thirty minutes avoiding a conversation with her by distracting her only way he knew how: food.

May eagerly consumed her sandwich, both enjoying the flavour and the fact that Drew was notably awkward and didn't know what to do with himself after she caught him reading up about her. He sat on the couch watching the PokeNews while she ate, and he got up to fetch her coat the second he heard the dryer stop.

"Alright, here's your coat. Nice and dry." May walked to the front door and grabbed it from Drew. "So, uh – have a safe trip to Lilycove," he said with a flick of his hair, trying to make small talk.

May zipped up her coat and looked up at him with that small smirk she'd been wearing earlier. However, when she met his eyes, she could see the slivers of nervousness in them, and her smirk melted into a soft smile. "Thanks for helping me out." Boldness overtook her, and they both hesitated for a second before May leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on his cheek.

Drew's mouth opened slightly as a blush crept up on his cheeks. He was stunned – at a complete loss for words. He watched as May opened the door and stepped out into the frosty air.

"By the way," May said as she turned around, "you should call me sometime."

"Yeah," Drew said, standing a little taller and trying to regain his composure. However, he couldn't help it as the corners of his lips pulled slightly upwards. "Yeah, totally." May shot him one last award-winning smile before she set on her way. Drew closed the door after watching her for a few more moments, before trying to comprehend what had just transpired between them. Usually he felt calm, cool and collected around May, but that hadn't been the case at all this time around. Then again, being so calm and collected had never gotten him a kiss before.

Maybe purchasing that magazine hadn't been such a bad idea after all.
