Happy late Mother's Day everyone! Heads up, there is previously established Puzzleshipping in this story.
Also this is part of an AU I have.
Yugi smiled softly as he carefully walked through the forest outside of Domino City, his path clear. He knew what day it was, and he didn't need his friends and Yami worrying about him, for he was just fine. This was his day, the day to spend to his mother. And while he loved the others, he wanted this day to be with just the two of them.
Walking into the clearing, Yugi smiled as he saw that this mother had already arrived, her beautiful magenta hair matching the tips of his hair. He quickly hurried up to her and embraced her, wrapping her in one of the blankets he had brought with him when he realized how cold she was. Feeling her warm up, Yugi steps away and takes off his backpack, taking out all the picnic supplies he brought with him.
"I'm sorry I was a little late Mom, but you know how Grandpa can be," the King of Games explained softly, setting up the picnic. "The Game Shop is his life, and he always enjoys it when I help. But you've lived with him your whole life, so that's no surprise to you."
His mother remains silent, and after Yugi finally set up the picnic, he began to talk about how much his life got so much happier when he started dating Yami, eating a delicious fruit salad all the while.
"I'm so glad I can finally spend Mother's Day with you Mom!" Yugi exclaimed in happiness while munching on an apple. "It feels so good to spend time with you, with everything being so crazy for so long."
Not bothered by his mother's silence, Yugi gave a great yawn and curled up next to where his mother sat. "I hope you don't mind me taking at nap Mom, but everything around is perfect for one."
His mother still stayed quiet, as Yugi closed his eyes and allowed the sounds of the forest to soothe him to sleep.

A strong but gentle hand through his hair was what woke Yugi up, and he looked up to see Yami with a sympathetic look in his eyes.
"Yugi," he said lovingly. "it's time to go home."
Doing his best to hide this sadness, Yugi nodded and began to pack up his things. "I have to go now Mom," he explained softly, smiling sweetly at the woman who he loved so much. "Happy Mother's Day."
Beginning to walk back, Yami looks down at Yugi and gives a caring smile. "Did you have a good time with her?" he asked.
Yugi smiled and nodded. "It was the best thing I could have asked for. Other than you staying of course." he responded.
Yami gave a deep chuckle and kissed the top of Yugi's head. "I love you Aibou."
Yugi giggled. "I love you too Yami."

In the center of the forest clearing, oblivious to anything going on around it, a lone tombstone sat. And on the stone itself, it read:
Here Lies Aiko Muto
1945 - 1990
A loving Daughter and Mother
May she rest and peace and watch over her son Yugi
