Salvatore Boarding House
(Later that Evening)
"You've got to be kidding me!" Damon exclaimed as he eyed the two originals standing at his front door.
"Hey mate." Klaus smiled.
Damon turned towards Athena and stated, "We didn't create a safe house for you to invite danger in."
"Damon…" she grimaced, but was cut off by the original hybrid as he said politely, "You're in more danger than anyone else at the moment."
Athena sighed tiredly and spoke, "Can we please not do this?"
Their expressions said it all and none of them replied. Knowing that they hated each other and would love nothing more than to kill each other if possible, she eyed the two members of her family and said, "Look, I'm doing this because I don't have another choice, but you have to promise me that if I invite you in, you won't hurt Damon, Stefan or any of their guests in any way and they too won't try anything to harm you. All of you."
The look Klaus gave her was full of hurt and stated, "You should have more faith in me. I'm your father, after all!"
Athena had finally figured out how her family worked and knew that he won't do anything to hurt her, but anyone else was a different matter altogether. It was just too easy to kill people rather than dealing with them, especially being someone as powerful as an original, but she wasn't going to let any of these people die because they were too thick-headed. So, she crossed her arms across her chest and arched an eyebrow as if to say 'really? Should I?'
Klaus rolled his eyes, knowing that this wasn't going to go his way and replied, "This is childish, Athena."
"It might be, but I'm not inviting you in until you promise that you won't harm the Salvatore's unnecessarily." She urged with a shrug.
"Fine. I promise." Klaus glared but finally mumbled through gritted teeth, not hiding the fact that he abhorred the idea.
"Of course, I too won't do anything to hurt my favourite niece," Kol added dramatically.
Knowing that this was the best she could get out of the two, Athena invited them in, ignoring the betrayed look Damon threw her way. She could tell that he was angry, but what other choice did she have? The vampire locked in the basement was planning something and certainly knew more than she was letting on, so asking her father to interrogate her had been an only option.
She heard the footsteps and stood up from the ground, hoping that maybe she'll find a way to get out of here somehow. Not only had she been locked in this awful place, but she also couldn't hear anything happening in the house. Klaus's daughter was a powerful witch, but Katherine was anticipating that they'll get rid of her soon and even though she hadn't been able to complete her part, she was certain that Klaus and his family would be the next to die. She wondered how a Klaus free world would be; how it'll feel to not be on the run because she saved herself from a psychopath.
"Uh… I'm bored." Katherine called out. "Are you finally going to let me out?"
Someone opened the door and Katherine's heart leaped in her throat when she saw who it was.
"Klaus…" She whispered so faintly, that it if hadn't been for their heightened hearing, none of them would've heard it.
Klaus leaned against the doorway, lips tilted upwards, and said, "I've heard that you've been busy, Katerina."
Katherine looking behind him, only to see that he wasn't alone. Kol, Damon, and Athena were standing behind Klaus and gulped. There was nowhere to go, but she still tried to run, only to collide with the damn invisible barrier. She cursed the witch internally before taking a deep breath to calm herself. Knowing Klaus, he was going to kill her, and Damon wouldn't do anything to save her this time. So, she readied herself before looking up at him.
"Okay… We can do this the easy way or the hard way." Klaus smiled at her. "…the decision is up to you."
Katherine braced herself, knowing that vervain was out of her system by now and she wouldn't be able to save herself. He was going to kill her if he found out what she had been planning, so she stayed quiet.
Taking a step in the cellar easily, he took her face in his hands, his touch soft like a lover's caress, but she knew what it was – a threat… a reminder, that he could end her in seconds and she was powerless to stop him. So, when he looked into her eyes and compelled, she had no other option. "Tell me everything… who you're working with, how it's going to help you, their plans, etc, etc."
She shook like a leaf under his touch, but didn't dare defy him and replied, "I met someone a few weeks back. He promised to help me if I did everything he asked."
"What did he want your help with? And don't leave a single detail out. It's getting rather interesting." He ordered, staring at her intently.
"He wanted Athena and in return, he promised to take care of you." She couldn't help but answer.
"He wanted you to kill Athena?" asked Kol, glaring at her.
"No… he said that he has a plan and needs her to be alive." She responded.
"What plan?" Klaus hissed.
Katherine shook her head once. "I don't know. He didn't tell me."
Suddenly, it hit Athena like a lightning bolt. Whoever Katherine was working with, didn't want her to know whatever they were planning and whispered with a frown, "That's why I couldn't read your mind… he did something to block me out."
Katherine didn't reply, but she didn't need to. It was clear just by her expressions.
Klaus eyed Katherine for a couple of seconds before asking finally, "You said he'll take care of me for you… How?"
"I don't know, but he didn't want to kill you. He said you could be an asset once he's done with you." She told him in a whisper, wincing when his grip tightened on her jaw, enough to break it.
"One last question…" He tilted his head and demanded, "who is it?"
Katherine swallowed visibly, bracing herself for his wrath and mumbled, "He's a wizard… and his name is Thomas."
Athena closed her eyes and despite knowing who it was going to be, listening from the vampire herself made it real. Damon clenched his hands into fists, even though he sagged back against the wall. Athena had told him that Voldemort was back, but Katherine working with him was too much, not that anything else was to be expected from the bitch. He was angry, knowing that fate was once again playing with him. Why couldn't he be happy for once? And he almost snarled when he heard Katherine's next words.
"Kill me… please. I've told you everything that I know." Katherine pleaded.
"Don't be a buzzkill, darling." Kol sang with a soft smile playing on his lips, but Katherine was focused on Klaus.
He too smiled, but she knew this smile too well. It made her feel like prey and she shuddered visibly when he touched her. His fingers played with her curls as he asked softly, "You see, love, I don't believe you. What if there's something you're keeping from me? Huh?"
The smile he had could've fooled anyone, making them think that he was talking to a close friend, but everyone knew that he was minutes away from snapping.
"Please just kill me, Klaus. Just finish it, please," she begged again, trying to pull away, but his grip on her only tightened further.
"Oh, honey…" Klaus looked at her disappointed and whispered in her ear, "The last thing I want to do is kill you. After all that you've done? After betraying me every single time for the past 500 years? You want mercy?"
Katherine's lower lip trembled and she bit it to control herself, not wanting to give him or anyone the satisfaction of seeing her cry, but she couldn't control her heartbeat which was thrumming, easy enough for every supernatural being in the vicinity to hear.
Abruptly, his smile turned sinister and he said, "Oh… I forgot to give you a small detail… about your family."
Katherine swallowed the bile rising in her stomach and spoke in a detached voice, "You slaughtered them all. I already know it. I'm not running anymore. Kill me."
Klaus took a step back and his smile grew, becoming evil as he told her balefully, "That's where you're wrong, Katerina. If I kill you now, how will I see you begging for the life of your child?"
Katherine's eyes snapped to his along with Damon and Athena's. The news came as a shock to Damon as he had known her for his whole life and he had no idea that she had a child.
She looked at him, petrified by his words, and gasped in horror, "No…"
"How do you think I know about the existence of Katerina Petrova's love child? It didn't take long for your father to tell me everything as he begged for his life." Klaus informed, his eyes filled with mirth.
She shook her head, unwilling to believe him, and mumbled, "You're lying."
He pretended to think for a moment before speaking, "Was it 1497, Kol? Bulgaria, if I remember correctly."
"NO! MY FATHER GAVE HER AWAY." Katherine shouted; eyes filling with tears rapidly, hoping with everything inside her that he was lying. "There's no way… I went back and I couldn't find her…" She continued to mumble as she remembered how she had gone back after getting rid of Klaus in 1498 but was unable to find her.
"Come on, Katerina. You, of all people, should know how difficult it is to die these days." Kol said mockingly.
Katherine looked up, unwilling to believe that they were telling the truth, but one glance and she knew… she knew that they had known her daughter. She wasn't sure if had killed her or not, but she knew Klaus enough to know that he wasn't lying.
"Is she dead?!" She asked desperately, dreading the answer more than anything she had in life.
Klaus kept his eyes on her, but instead of replying, he pulled a dagger out of his jacket. Katherine eyed it, trying to rein in the panic unsuccessfully. It seemed like a knife with some ancient carvings on it, but as the corners of his mouth turned up and the way he held it so carefully, she knew that there was more to it.
He held it for her and compelled, "Here. I want you to stab yourself with it... again and again until I tell you to stop."
She looked into his eyes and took the knife. Once in her hands, she couldn't stop and stabbed herself in the stomach. Her eyes widened when she realised that the knife held vervain somehow and she cried out, loud enough that Athena flinched and turned away from the scene in front of her.
Klaus motioned for her to do it again, earning an amused snort from his brother when she stabbed herself again.
"That's more like it." Klaus praised and his grin widened as Katerina's eyes widened even further with understanding when the wounds didn't heal as they should've.
"Did I forget to mention?" He told her mockingly. "The dagger is charmed. You won't be healing anytime soon, Katerina."
Tears flowed down her cheeks, but not because of the pain or her imminent death… because of the child, she had never forgotten about. Her baby girl who was taken away from her; the one she'd done everything to search for. Knowing that her child's fate had been in the hands of her worst enemy, not knowing if her baby lived or was killed because of her was enough to bring her to her knees. Katherine knew she wouldn't find out anything until Klaus took his revenge was enough to strengthen her resolve to do everything, he said… just to know the fate of her child.
"I'll make you wish you were dead. I'll make you beg for it. If you die now… it'll ruin all the fun." Klaus promised menacingly before leaving. "I'll deal with you soon… until then, I'll let Kol play with you."
When she heard his next words, she knew he was going to make her life a living hell as she stabbed herself again, gritting her teeth to stop the pained whimper from escaping.
Kol's eyes were bright with glee as he said cheerily, "Don't be so glum, darling. We're gonna have so much fun and we haven't even started yet."
Athena followed Klaus upstairs and, scared of his answer but asked in a whisper, "You… You were lying about her child, right?"
He whirled around and his flashed amber; glaring at her, he glowered, "Don't ever interrupt me where it doesn't concern you. Consider this a warning. I won't tell you again!"
She hadn't seen him like this since the first day they met and flinched away from him, suddenly remembering how he had tried to kill her. Her fear must have been palpable in her eyes because in the next second Klaus's face softened, but one look at Damon and his mask was back and he left without another word, slamming the door with a loud bang.
Athena felt Damon's hand on her back, trying to comfort her, but for now, it didn't do much.
Bonnie's House
(Next Day, Morning)
She knew the spell, but no matter how much she tried, she couldn't concentrate enough to learn it and she snapped the grimoire shut.
Bonnie had another dream where grams had told her that she needed to perform the ritual at a specific time, exactly when the moon would be at its peak. She knew Athena was powerful… possibly more than any other witch alive, which was why the witches wanted her gone. Her being here was disrupting the course of nature and if she didn't do anything, many would die, like hundreds and thousands of innocent humans who lost their lives by the hands of these vampires.
Emily had told her that the girl wasn't human, to pity the ones who would die if nothing was done, not to wait until it was too late to do anything and the girl turned into a monster just like her father.
She was still reluctant to hurt an innocent, but the witches insisted that the ritual should be performed as soon as possible… or else it would be too late. Bonnie knew they were hiding something, but she trusted her grams and wasn't going to question it.
She needed all her strength to harness the power from the full moon and there wasn't much time left. Right now, she wasn't willing to deal with Elena or the Salvatore's. It was the last thing she needed, which was why she had turned her phone off after asking her friend to leave. So, she wasn't surprised when someone knocked on the door. She opened the door, only to see Caroline and Jeremy staring at her anxiously.
Bonnie looked between the two and asked concerned, "What is it?"
"Is Elena here? She isn't at home and I keep getting her voicemail." Jeremy asked worriedly.
Bonnie shook her head. "She came here yesterday, but I was busy, so she left."
"Her room has been trashed and everything is askew," Jeremy said worriedly. "Did she say anything?"
"I… no. I didn't pay much attention." Bonnie replied, feeling guilty that she practically threw Elena out, but asked instead, "Did you check at the boarding house?"
"I don't think she'll be there," Caroline muttered before wincing when Jeremy and Bonnie looked at her questioningly. She said in a rush, "Stefan was at my house."
It took a minute for the other two to comprehend the meaning behind her words. Slowly, Bonnie's eyes widened and she whispered, "Oh my God…" while Jeremy looked at her like she had grown another head.
"You and Stefan? When did that happen?" Bonnie gawked.
Caroline cleared her throat unnecessarily and replied, "It's just been a few days."
"Does Elena know?" Bonnie asked, perplexed beyond imagination.
"Look, it just happened and you were busy… and I didn't know how to tell her." Caroline tried to justify, clearly seeing the judgment in her friend's eyes.
"Guys!" Jeremy said loudly, making them jump. "My sister is missing. We need to find her."
The girls shared a look, knowing that the conversation wasn't finished yet, but for now, finding Elena was the priority.
Salvatore Boarding House
(Same Day, Afternoon)
"Ah… the scooby gang. How can I help?" Damon stated sarcastically as soon as they entered the door.
"Where's Elena?" Bonnie asked, eying him as if he was the culprit.
Damon rolled his eyes and replied, "How would I know? Do I look like her bodyguard?"
All their eyes widened at his attitude and how uninterested he seemed, but before they could say anything, Stefan entered the parlor, doing-up the buttons of his shirt and asked, "What's happening?"
"We can't find Elena and she hasn't been answering her phone. They found her car in Georgia, but not her." Jeremy told them worriedly.
"Georgia?" Stefan asked surprised. "Why would she be in Georgia?"
"I don't know. Have you seen her recently?" Jeremy asked urgently. "It's not like her. She would never ignore my calls."
"I …might've." Damon winced. Sure, he had seen her, but in his defense, he had been busy with Athena, and Elena wasn't his priority anymore. To him, she seemed more like Katherine as every day passed… the only difference being – she was human but just as manipulative.
Bonnie took a step towards him threateningly and asked through clenched teeth, "What do you mean you might have?"
"She was here yesterday, but she left," Damon replied offhandedly.
"Left? Just like that? Did she say anything?" Jeremy asked desperately, trying to find any clue as to where his sister could be.
"She saw that Athena and I were busy and left." He shrugged.
"Busy?" Caroline asked suspiciously.
He waggled his eyebrows suggestively and added, "You know… busy."
"Eww…" Caroline wrinkled her nose as soon as she caught the meaning behind his words and stated, "You're disgusting."
Damon rolled his eyes before replying sarcastically, "You're the one to talk. Do you know how many times I had to listen to you doing the tango with my brother?"
"Damon!" Caroline shouted indignantly; Stefan sighed and rubbed his eyes tiredly.
"Can we please focus?" Jeremy shouted suddenly, having had enough. "My sister is missing!"
It shut them all up because no one knew where to find her, so they stayed quiet; while Damon shrugged, moving towards his bourbon and poured some in his glass. He had more things to worry about, instead of focussing with his entire being on the doppelgängers and their unending drama. Athena left with Kol after Katherine passed-out. Even though he didn't want her to leave, he knew he wouldn't be able to stop her from visiting her 'family'. She had been upset after finding out about Voldemort's return and had been unusually quiet. He didn't know how to help her in the situation, knowing that the murderer of her parents was back somehow.
Bonnie broke the silence and asked, "Do you think Katherine did something?"
Stefan shook his head and stated, "Katherine's locked in the cellar. I don't think she did it."
Bonnie's head snapped towards him and she gaped, "What?"
The brothers shared a look and by mutual agreement decided to say the easiest thing for now. "She is planning something, so for now, she's locked in the basement," Stefan said.
"She might know something. We can ask her, at least." Caroline piped-up.
"Good luck with that." Damon snorted, knowing that they weren't getting anything out of the bitch, not by 'asking' at least; especially not in the condition she was in, thanks to the originals.
"Where's Athena?" Bonnie asked suddenly. It had been bothering her ever since she entered the house because lately, Damon and Athena had been attached to the hip. She couldn't even remember the last time she saw Damon without Klaus's daughter.
Damon eyed the witch warily before answering, "With her family."
Bonnie bit her lip in an attempt to stay quiet. To her, it seemed suspicious. Why was Athena gone at the same time as Elena? The witch didn't seem like she was anything like Klaus, but then Emily's warning rang in her ears – 'Athena could turn just like her father.' Also, she wasn't able to understand how the Salvatore's gave the deed of their house to Athena, despite knowing her for a fairly short amount of time. Or how Damon of all people practically worshipped her. She wasn't sure what to make out of everything, but she was sure that Elena's disappearance was somehow connected to Athena.
But before she could voice her concern, Stefan said, "What about the tracking spell? Jeremy's right here."
Bonnie's eyes widened and she almost face-palmed herself. How could she forget such a simple thing? The spell would easily extract the location where Elena is! A look at Jeremy and Caroline, and she knew they were thinking the same thing.
It wasn't long before a map was laid out on the table, a few drops of Jeremy's blood and she chanted the spell. Once done, she opened her eyes only to frown in confusion like the others. The drops of blood stayed where they had been dropped, without moving.
"What? What's happening?" Jeremy questioned desperately. "Why didn't it work?"
Bonnie shook her head as dread filled her, but she couldn't believe it. "It should've… this has never happened before. Wait… let me try again." She replied.
She chanted the spell again, but nothing happened, the blood stayed where it was without moving an inch. She felt a lump forming in her throat, thicker and harder to swallow as she tried once again with everything she had, feeling like it was her fault. She knew what it meant and felt her eyes filling with tears and turned away from the desperation she could see on Jeremy's face.
"It didn't work," Stefan whispered apprehensively.
"BONNIE!?" Jeremy yelled, feeling his heart beating hard and fast, now. "What happened?"
"Bonnie?" Caroline softly whispered, seeing the look on her friend's face.
"It should've worked." Bonnie shied away, but finally muttered, "…but it didn't."
"No," Jeremy muttered, even as his shoulders hunched. "No… Elena…"
Bonnie looked at him, eyes filled with unshed tears, and whispered, "She's dead. I'm sorry."
Mikaelson Mansion
(Same Day, Evening)
Everything was prepared and the only thing left to do was wait… wait for the full moon. Athena knew she wouldn't get a single thing done if she stayed at the Boarding House. The Salvatore's house had become more like a mad-house ever since Elena went missing.
To say that the atmosphere was tense would've been an understatement. Stefan, Damon, Caroline, Matt, and Alaric were trying to search for Elena; while Jeremy and Bonnie were trying to find some spell or anything that would help them. Elena had been missing since yesterday, and no one knew where she could be. With Katherine locked and her dad having no hand in her disappearance, they didn't know who would've kidnapped her. She knew that despite Damon's apathetic attitude, he was worried and rightly so. With Katherine back in town, everyone from 'the Mystic gang' was on edge, positive that she was involved somehow.
Now with Damon somewhat being busy, she could focus on the task at hand. So, she was solely focussed on the book, rereading it just in case she might've missed something because she knew she won't be getting another chance like this. She also wasn't thinking about the upcoming ritual and how it would affect everyone she loved. If she gave it a single thought, Athena knew she wouldn't be able to go through with it and she had come too far to back-off now.
The ritual she needed to perform before the full moon was an intricate part and she needed to be strong for it. It would help her in harnessing the power of her ancestor and the witch. It was the part where she had to be careful because with that much power… if something went wrong… Athena shuddered even the thought and was bought out of her musing when she heard a commotion outside.
Knowing nothing good could've happened, she rushed outside, only to gape at the scene in front of her.
The center-table was broken and the furniture was askew; Rebekah was lying on the floor, probably immobilised; her father was pinned to the wall, trying his best to free himself from the invisible bonds holding him down and was glaring at Kingsley; while Elijah had Neville in a chokehold.
"What the hell is happening here?" she shouted.
"These vampires attacked us as soon as we entered the threshold," Kingsley replied, not looking at her, his wand pointing towards Klaus.
She took a breath and stated calmly, "Okay… could you please let each other go?"
She didn't miss how their eyes widened, but it was Elijah who spoke, "Athena… you can't…"
"They're my friends. I've already warded the house." Athena said. "They could not have entered otherwise… now, would you please let each other go?"
Thankfully, they listened, but it was clear that they were all ready to kill at a moment's notice.
"Dad? This is Kingsley Shacklebolt, Minister of Magic and my friend Neville. We fought in the war together." She turned towards the wizards and introduced them before they could attack each other again. "Eh… He's my dad – Klaus Mikaelson, my uncle Elijah and my aunt Rebekah."
"Huh." Kingsley eyed the vampires curiously and chose his worlds cautiously before speaking, "Ronald mentioned something about your family, but he forgot to mention that they were vampires."
Athena felt a burst of affection for her friend. Ron always tried to protect her, no matter what. But before she could open her mouth to defend him, Kingsley stopped her and said, "It's a good thing that President Quahog told me about the talk you two had a couple of months back or we would've been… surprised."
She winced, not sure how to reply, so she cleared her throat and asked instead, "Uh… I'm sorry, but what are you doing here?"
That sobered the wizards quickly and they shared a look. A look Athena knew too well and her heart sank.
Athena frowned when no one replied and asked again, "What is it?"
"Narcissa Malfoy was found dead at the Malfoy Manor, Aberforth is missing and there has been dark mark sighting… in Godric's Hollow." Kingsley
She gasped loudly, her hands covered her mouth and before Athena could process it, Neville said, "We think it's Rodolphus Lestrange and some other death eaters who fled after the war."
"They're planning something," Shacklebolt added gravely. "I think we're in danger."
No one missed how Athena's face grew white or how she looked ready to faint. After a couple of seconds or what felt like hours, she mumbled weakly, "I think it's worse than that."
Neville's eyes widened, while Shacklebolt took a step towards her as his alarm grew. "What…?"
"He's back. Voldemort's back." She mumbled.
Shacklebolt huffed a breath, looking at her like she was mad and said, "That's impossible. He died in front of us…"
"I know, alright? I was the one who killed him!" Athena almost shouted, losing all her patience, feeling angry that once again they were choosing not to believe her. She was sick and tired of it. Tired of everything.
"Why are you here?" she asked abruptly, startling everyone.
She didn't notice, but the wizards backed away in alarm a bit when her eyes flashed yellow, while Klaus moved towards her, knowing he would've to calm her down before she lost her temper. He knew it came with the transformation, but she had been more irate lately, but he chalked it up to the fact that full moon was near and Voldemort's return.
"Bill, Ron, and some Aurors are already there. We want you to come with us." Neville told her slowly, already knowing how these things would affect her. "There's something you should see."
"Godric's Hollow?" Athena whispered.
"She's not going anywhere with you," Klaus spoke before the wizard could answer. "I won't allow it."
Athena's gaze snapped towards him and gaped like a fish out of water. Did he actually say that he won't allow it?
"You're a muggle and do not understand how important this is or how many lives it could cost… but we wouldn't've asked her if it wasn't important." Shacklebolt waved him off dismissively.
Klaus fisted his hands by his side, glaring at the wizard furiously, and snarled, "She's my daughter and I won't allow her to be used as a pig for slaughter by you people anymore."
Shacklebolt narrowed his eyes and even though he knew that the vampire wasn't wrong, but they had no other choice. They needed Athena to enter the house. "She can make the decision herself. She has been doing it for years now." He stated calmly.
"You don't know who I am… I'll rip your throat out even before you can blink." Klaus threatened.
"ALRIGHT! THAT'S ENOUGH!" Athena yelled, gaining the attention of everyone. She ignored others for now and glared at her father before asking angrily, "What do you mean you won't allow it?"
"Exactly what you heard, sweetheart. You're too young to fight and as your father, I forbid you to go out and fight so that some old men could save their asses!" He told her seethingly, clearly pointing towards the minister and taking a dig at Dumbledore as well.
She gaped, utterly outraged before shouting incredulously, "You cannot forbid me!"
"I assure you that I can, Athena." He looked into her eyes said vehemently, incensed at her stubbornness. "Do not test my patience."
Athena didn't know how to explain, how to make him understand that these people were more than her friends. They've stayed together through thick and thin… they've been with her through a war, a time she wasn't sure she would survive. She understood that he was worried about her, but she knew Kingsley wouldn't be here if it weren't serious. She couldn't say no when they needed her. Not when people were dying.
She moved in front of her dad and said quietly, "Dad, I…I understand why you don't want me to go, but it's something I've gotta do. They're my friends."
Klaus asked after some time, "What if I ask you not to go? What if I ask you to stay?"
"You know I can't…" she grimaced.
"You're asking me to let you go even though you might die?" He asked disbelievingly.
"I won't die. Everyone will be there. I'll be completely safe." She told him confidently.
He arched an eyebrow, stared at her imploringly, and replied, "If so, then it won't be an issue if I come along?"
Athena's eyes widened and she gasped, "You can't!"
"Mr. Mikaelson, being a muggle, you cannot come with us, but I promise that I will do everything to keep Athena safe." Shacklebolt shook his head, trying to appease the vampire, but as far as he understood, these 'men' didn't trust the wizards and wouldn't let Athena go 'alone'. As being Athena's biological father, there wasn't much that could be done against him or his family. At least, not until their existence and relation to Miss. Potter remained hidden from their world.
"That's not good enough," Klaus promised heatedly. "I don't care who you are… if I hear one more word, Minister or not, I'll make you regret ever stepping foot in Mystic Falls."
Shacklebolt gritted his teeth, his hand tightened on his wand, but didn't say anything more. He had faced vampires before and they were cocky bastards. It wouldn't be good to fight with a family of muggle vampires when they've already wasted enough time.
"Fine. You can come along."
"You cannot be serious!" Athena burst-out, unable to believe that he was allowing a muggle to come along.
"I am. We need you to come along, and if it's the only way…" Shacklebolt told her seriously, not willing to participate in another argument. "Now, let's go. We've wasted enough time already."
By the law, the parents or family members were allowed to know the secret and he couldn't do anything about it. Even though having a vampire would raise a hundred questions at least, but being Athena Potter's 'family', the vampire might be able to help in case the situation worsens. He just hoped the decision wouldn't turn out to bite him in the ass. As long as they kept it under wrap, it shouldn't be a problem.
AN: Before anyone of you tells me that Klaus didn't know about Katherine's child, let me tell you – I KNOW! I've changed the plot a bit, but it'll be used in the sequel if I write it. Also, this chapter turned out to be longer than I intended, so I've divided it into 2 parts. I'll try to post the 2nd part soon.
Thank you for the readers who are still with me on this story and I hope you liked it. Positive criticism is always welcome. Hope you and your loved ones are safe.
