A Day To Okaa-san
It's Mother's day, so I decided to write this small one-shot about how the Kamado children celebrate the special day to their beloved, kind mother. Takes place before the family died, set on a Mother's Day. Grab tissues and all you need, it has cuteness, fluff overboard.
Kamado Tanjirou woke up first before the rest of the family woke, wanting to do something special for his mother, knowing what day was today. He slowly made his way to the kitchen, she was going to cook Kie's favorite plate, smiling he grabbed everything he needed. It wasn't long before Tanjirou felt his sleeve tugged on upon which he looked over his shoulder with a warm smile.
"Nii-chan, what are you doing up so early?" Hanako asked him.
"Yeah, why?" Takeo echoed.
"Where you already hungry?" Shigeru inquired, he was holding little Rokuta.
Nezuko knew why and just smiled at her brother.
"I'm preparing Kaa-san breakfast, it's Mother's Day today, so I thought doing something nice for her." Tanjirou replied them and the children widened their eyes, remembering the day themselves.
"We want to do something for Kaa-san as well!"
Tanjirou turned to them. "Well, how about you all write her a letter, with everything you want to wish her, hm?" at the thought, they all nodded. "Go get the ink, paper and start working, it's only a few hours before Kaa-san wakes.
"I'll help you prepare breakfast, O-Nii-Chan." Nezuko stood next to him, while the others scrambled away to go work on that.
"Kaa-san will get plenty surprised with this." Tanjirou smiled, as he chopped sausage and some vegetables, while Nezuko worked on the rice.
Meanwhile, outside, Takeo had pulled out the paper for everyone to write something to their mother, and had given the ink brushes to the others. Hanako being the second youngest daughter of the family was very artistic, she drew flowers around the message she wrote to her mother, Shigeru was writing a very profound message as well, Takeo grabbed some pieces of bamboo and molded them into hearts next to his messages, they painted Rokuta's little hand and stamped it on the paper, since he was just a toddler, unable to write just yet and then his hand was washed up swiftly so he wouldn't lick it or mess it around.
"Dekita!" Shigeru shouted a little to loud and his siblings shushed him quickly.
"Urusei! You will wake Kaa-san." Takeo and Hanako hushed him and he quickly covered his mouth nodding. Then Takeo let their letter dry off a little by the window the sun was starting shine upon. Then they all hurried to tell their brother they were done.
"We're done, Nii-chan!"
"Ah, already?" Tanjirou smiled and they nodded happily, he patted their heads. "Well done, now let's go put this on the table." he started carrying stuff to the table, Nezuko as well and so the children started grabbing as well.
"Yoshi, it's all done, now to wait for Kaa-san to wake up."
The sun rose and light up Kie's face and she slowly started to wake, she noticed the empty futons around her.
"Children?" She wondered where her children have gone, so she got up from her futon and started walking, she noticed sakura petals leading to the table, she rose a brow and shrugged with a smile, starting to follow the road of pink petals, when she reached the place she was warmly greeted.
"Okaa-san no hi omedetou gozaimasu!"(Happy Mother's Day!) The children cheered, holding the big letter that they write to their mother.
"Children..." Kie looked on, her eyes quickly filling up with tears, she read the messages her children wrote her, then she quickly moved to hug everyone tightly. "Thank you, thank you, my darlings..." everyone hugged her back, plenty of kisses given to her. Rokuta giggling kissed her nose as his mother held him.
"Mama!"
"Oh, how much I love you, my dears!" Kie was so happy all her children thought on making her day a special one.
"Happy day, Kaa-san, I cooked you your favorite," Tanjirou smiled, showing her.
The happy mother sat down and started eating, everyone else did, it was just a wonderful day. Kie thought this was the best Mother's Day celebrated to her, as much as she would've loved to have her husband around, but she still had the six best gifts that she could ever ask for.
"Kaa-san, we made you a big letter since we didn't know whatelse to give you, in your special day." Hanako said to her, drinking her juice happily.
"Yeah, I hope it's enough for you," Takeo nodded with a smile.
"We put all our hearts in that letter!" Shigeru the ever happy child said, smiling up at Kie.
"Oh but you already have given me my gift already, even before Mother's Day," their mother started.
"We already have?" her children inquired confused.
"All of you. All of you are my best six gifts, I couldn't ask for better presents, than my already wonderful children. I love you all the same, I don't need anything else, just you six are more than enough,"
And the children hugged her again, continuing to enjoy the day, exclusively dedicated to their mother.
"We all love you, Kaa-san,"
