Aerith
Sometimes it's just a matter of resolution.
Sometimes you can't rely on things to happen by chance, you can't rely on others to do what you'd want them to do.
Sometimes you just have to go straight-forward for what you want, no matter what.
Aerith has waited for the right moment, and this time she's not going to mess it up – nor she's letting Cloud mess it up.
"Cloud, up top."
She says the words loud and clear, she lifts her hand, and she waits.
This time, she will wait until he gets it.
This time, she won't give up.
She doesn't want to give up on Cloud, no, even if there are a thousand reasons why she should – because everything about him screams secret and dark past and mako and problems and SOLDIER and Zack and impossible and pain.
Well, she doesn't care.
She wants to high-five him, and she will.
He's approaching slowly, too slowly, and for an instant she doubts again this is really going to happen – but she stands her ground.
"Aw, don't leave me hanging," she pleads, and she's not ashamed to show him how much she wants this to happen.
She can feel an unusual spark in her chest when the expectation peaks, right in the moment in which she sees him lifting his arm.
When their hands finally meet, all she can think of is that it was worth the wait. His embarrassed half-hidden smile is worth the wait, his fingers lingering on hers are worth the wait.
She smiles sincerely at him.
Deep in her heart, she knows this is not a standalone episode, but that it will be a new habit.

So guys! This is it ^^ They finally made it, and of course I was like, awww, finally! Hope that with this story I've let you live this moment again! I know it's short, but I wanted to try and stick to canon... Though maybe in the future I'll be doing other short story *filler* like... if so, I was wondering, which scenes/locations would you like to see? Let me know!
