Kirell finds herself in what appears in a run down town that looks like something out of a zombie apocalypse movie.
She accidentally bumps into Ron who is on the catwalk over looking the highway. Ron is writing in his book.
"Oh hello. Didn't see you there. My bad." Ron calmly explains.
"Geez pay attention next time." Kirell tells Ron as it seems this run she has an attitude problem.
"I could say the same to you. But I digress. I'm not here to fight. I only want to complete my task." Ron explains.
"Right. Sorry." Kirell apologize feeling bad.
"I'm Ron." Ron smiles.
"Kirell." Kirell introduces herself.
"Seems we have company." Ron gestures to the armed man with greyish brown hair and a creepy smile.
"Hey! So you two are obviously in this test thingy too. Names Balaam!" The armed man smiles happily.
"Kirell." She replied looking at the man with cold brown eyes.
"And you?" Balaam asked Ron.
"Ron." Ron replied not at all nervous of scared.
"Both of you are cold as ice! I love it!" Balaam loads his gun, "Which brings me to my point!" He points at Kirell and Ron.
"What are you mugging me? Get that gun out of my face!" Kirell hissed.
Ron just starts writing in his book.
"Yeah this isn't ordeal..." Balaam looks at Ron and snickers, "What are you doing writing your will?" Balaam laughed.
"Interesting. This amuses you. No Im just trying to complete my task. I just write about the events that transpire as I see them. Feel free to shoot me if you want. It's not like I can stop you anyways." Ron explained.
"Hey I'm just trying to have an honest conversation here." Balaam replied.
"You mean intimidation not conversation." Kirell pointed out looking into Balaam's dull brown eyes.
"You know the rules of the game. Everyone's got their own task. Now show me your equipment!" Balaam ordered.
"Obviously this is mine." Ron shakes the book before continuing to write in it.
"Pff. We'll obviously I know what your task is." Kirell pointed out to Balaam.
"Oh yeah?" Balaam looked amused, "I'm interested. Go on." He urged.
"You need to kill a specific person." Kirell announced.
"What makes you say that?" Balaam asked.
"Else you have no reason to point that gun at us and threaten us." Kirell replied.
"A threat's just a threat." Balaam pointed out.
"If you had something else to do. Then you wouldn't go around threatening people. I mean look at Ron for example." Kirell sees Ron writing and sighs.
"You know I don't know if I should be pissed off that he's ignoring me or impressed at how calm he's taking all of this." Balaam sighs too.
"Sorry. I have a lot to write in order to complete my task. Please continue." Ron replied.
Balaam sighed, "So what makes you think it's someone specific?"
"You were asking questions." Kirell explains.
"Man your good! I like you! Your right and wrong though." Balaam pointed out.
"Huh what?!? Right and wrong really?" Kirell looked so confused.
"No and dam. I'm impressed dare I say proud of you! But enough with the games. Tell me what your tasks are." Balaam ordered.
"Okay. So. My task is witness all of the people playing this game different interactions and record them in my book here. When the day ends and if I've recorded everyone's story. My book will than show me a hint that will lead me closer to my resurrection but it'll be a riddle. I need to solve all these riddles to earn my right to be resurrected." Ron explains.
"That sounds impossible! We don't even know how many people there are in this game let alone where they are." Kirell explains.
"Well I was never told how many riddles I actually have to solve before I can be resurrected. But I was told that the riddles will lead me to my final task that once I complete will get me resurrected." Ron explains.
"So wait... your telling me you actually have two tasks? And one you don't even know what it is! Sounds suspicious. Your last task might to be kill me and I'd never know until it's too late." Balaam points out.
"Hmmm. I've made myself appear suspicious by hiding all of my task because it be to suspicious to reveal all of my story." Ron thinks deeply.
"I don't think so. Because I think my task has something to do with my observations and recording them. I mean why make me observe everyone just to kill someone in the end? Maybe... I'm suppose to do something else." Ron explains.
"I guess we won't know until we help solve your riddles. It kinda sounds fun! Like a mystery!" Kirell smiles.
"Pff. A murder mystery. Who is Ron suppose to kill." Balaam jokes.
"Well... if so I'm sure you'll both find out once we solve my riddles together. Until than I can humbly swear I plan on not killing anyone plus it's not like I have anything to kill people with. Just a book. What do you want me to do? Bash their brains out with my book?" Ron asked.
"Pfff. That be awesome!" Balaam smiles.
"Yeah no thanks. I rather not unless I absolutely have too." Ron protested.
"Alright. Fine. Fine. What about you?" Balaam asked Kirell.
"I need to get somewhere." Kirell didn't look like she trusted anyone.
"Than you got to follow something." Balaam replied.
"Wait could you give me a moment?" Kirell begged.
"Masked man two o'clock down there." Ron pointed to the highway below them.
"Oh yeahhh! That's what I'm talking about! This is what I've been waiting for!" Balaam jumps off the catwalk to Kirell's suprise.
"Waiting for what? Woah! Holy crap! Is he crazy!" Kirell screamed in horror.
"Possibly." Ron nodded as he continued to write, "Quick let's follow him." Ron explains and Kirell nodded.
"I'm not sure why. But I think I trust Ron more than Balaam. Balaam is just so crazy and hard to understand, but Ron is very quiet and chill... Though that second task does worry me a bit." Kirell thinks.
"Balaam you basterd! It's me Philip! Die! Die! Die!" Philip shouted as Balaam shoots over his shoulder killing Philip in one shot.
"Anyways thanks for the heads up Ron!" Balaam smiles.
Kirell sees a rock but doesn't pick it up not wanting to get killed as Ron just keeps writing.
"Yup. No problem. Hey if Balaam kills everyone I won't have to waste time observing them. So I guess that's a plus." Ron shrugged.
"Haha! I like how you think!" Balaam smiles, "You must be disappointed though you just missed your chance to get rid of me." Balaam proclaimed.
"I'd be dead as him if I tried anything." Kirell pointed out.
"True. Balaam has some nasty reflexes. It'll take a lot for anyone to catch him off guard." Ron nodded.
"Geez both of you need to lose the front. Usually when someone uses a gun or dies you get startled or scared. But you two nothing." Balaam explains.
"Hmmm. Well I don't think it's really settled with me that this all real. I don't believe in the afterlife or reincarnation." Ron shrugged.
"Oh is that so. Want me to help wake you up?" Balaam points a gun at Ron.
"Oh no. Is Balaam going to really shoot Ron? What should I do? What can I do?" Kirell thinks in a panick.
"There's no need to shoot me just throw a rock at me or pinch me." Ron sighed, "Besides. It's not like I'm not taking this all seriously. It just doesn't feel real is all." Ron explains.
Kirell pinches Ron, "There now you know it's real." She tells him.
Ron rubs his arm in pain and looks around pretending to be confused, "Oh my god! Oh my god!!!! Ahhhh!!!" Ron screamed.
Balaam seems satisfied, "Look that's a normal reaction. But you Kirell nothing. What are you?" Balaam asked.
"Just someone who wants to live again." Kirell explains.
"Your real chill huh?" Balaam snickered and pats Ron's back, "Unlike this poor sap who's finally starting to understand this is reall." Balaam laughed.
"Fuck! Fuck! I don't want to die for real! I want to live! I don't know what to live for but... I don't want to be here or die here!" Ron pretends to cry.
"It's going to be okay Ron. I'll help you." Kirell assured him.
"Kirell..." Ron looks at her and looks away softly smiling.
"Hehe there's that kind nature that deserves a second chance at life. Let's finish this game for real Kirell and put your soul to rest." Charon thinks happily.
The compass stops moving and Ron has to move his book to his side as it's eye starts to glow as the death of Philip actives his book of death's power.
"Oh poor Philip... See where revenge has gotten you? Dead for good. No rebirth for you. Be at peace now. Rest forever without suffering." Charon thinks as he kneels by the body and takes his mask.
"He won't be needing this," Ron puts the mask away in his coat pocket, "Maybe we can use it." Ron explains.
"Good thinking Ron. Looks like Kirell's compass is working now and I can guess why." Balaam beamed, "Someone's gotta die for the compass to work huh?" Balaam guesses correctly.
"I'm not about to kill anyone." Kirell explains.
Ron is writing all this down, "So I'm right? I might as well tell you about mine than. I need to find and kill my nemesis from when I was alive, but since so I have no memories there's no way to tell." Balaam replied.
"So your just looking for the one who feels right?" Kirell asked.
"Yup just that gut feeling. I don't think it's you though. Don't know why but I like you! Feels like I know you. Like we're the same somehow!" Balaam explains.
"Spoilers." Charon thinks looking at the audience which just looks like he's staring into space to the others.
"What are you on about? That's disgusting!" Kirell protested.
"Hey Kirell!" Balaam beamed, "Lets work together. I gotta kill and you need people to die." Balaam suggested, "Let's see if we can make this work for the resurrection thingy. Oh and I guess solve the weirdo's riddles. What do you say?" Balaam asked.
"Yeah it's hard to say no to that." Kirell nodded.
"What about you Ron boy?" Balaam laughed.
"The more people who die the less people I have to interact with and observe. And that means less work to get to my end goal. I say it's a win win for me. So long as you both promise to kill me last after I solved my final riddle." Ron explains.
"I think we can manage that." Balaam nodded, "So partners?" He asked them.
"I said it's hard to say no... not that I won't." Kirell protested.
"Wait wait did you just reject me?" Balaam gasped.
"Mother of-" Kirell stopped herself before she could curse.
"Hey I'm a sensitive and vulnerable guy. Seeing how calm you are at a murder site, I'd say we are the same you and I." Balaam replied, "Whatever you decide Imma follow you anyways!" Balaam proclaims.
Ron writes something and tugged on Balaam's sleeve, "I just want you to know. I dedicated this page just for you." Ron smiled.
The page has the sentence "Balaam is a sensitive and vulnerable guy" in normal writing than in big taking up the whole page style the sentence is rewritten.
"Oh haha! Very funny." Balaam glared at Ron, "Watch it. I'll find a way to burn your book if you keep teasing me." Balaam warned.
"Fair enough." Ron shrugged.
"Ugh why are you going to follow me? Don't tell me it's your stupid gut feeling again?" Kirell groaned.
"Ooo feisty so like it. Yeah you and me are going to have fun!" Balaam beamed.
"Whatever guess I have nothing else to lose." Kirell sighed.
The rustling of bushes signal their next encounter as Ron eagerly continues to write the events that happen.
