Ron wanders with purpose and sees Philio happily being stalked by the deceased that dare not hurt him.
"Ah. It's you. Good to see you again doc." Ron reveals himself to Philio who looked shocked.
"Oh hey I found a person finally!" Philio beamed happily.
"Not quite. It's me Charon." Charon admitted.
"Charon? You mean the god of death? What brings you here?" Philio asked.
Ron smiles at the brown haired boy with innocent brown eyes, "Just doing an investigation of sorts." He explained.
"Can I help?" Philio offered.
"Hmmm," Ron considers it, "No if I give you such an impossible task and my book binds you to it... I fear it might effect your resurrection. Your the only one guaranteed resurrection..." Ron admitted.
"Please! My task is to help people. That means I should help you with yours!" Philio begged.
"The task I've created for this role is not the task I'm truly focused on." Charon admitted and thinks about, "It you must help me. Tell me what you did today even though. I pretty much know." Charon explains.
"Well! I made lots of undead friends it seems! I feel safe with them. Though doesn't appear I can help them with anything. I'm still looking for the others I need to help." Philio replies smiling.
"It's kind of funny. You don't know it... but it's actually you who is responsible for this game to begin with." Charon laughed, "Yes. You were the biggest key to unlock this game. I remember it well." Charon nodded.
"I don't remember much. I don't even know how I died." Philo explained.
Charon looks away wondering if he should tell him or not, "I guess I could tell you a little bit more. If you desire." Charon decided.
"Really? Thanks!" Philio beamed.
"You died as you lived and as your task forces you to do. As the ultimate and selfish sacrifice to help another person." Charon explains.
"Wow! So I was helping folk even before my death!" Philio smiled.
"The one you loved was brought before you wounded badly and on the verge of death. There was no way any medicine would cure them. Nothing you could do for her." Charon pointed out, "So you decided to do something that people would call you crazy for. You sacrificed you life to do a ritual of death to bring her back. Your sacrifice started this game. This game exists because of that ritual. I will ensure everyone including you gets reborn. All you have to do is show me your determination to complete your task at the same cost you started it with." Charon announced.
"Oh wow! I did all of this?!?" Philio was shocked.
"Yes my good doctor. And I god of death Charon have given you my awnser. Complete your task in peace. I shall do all in my power to see that these souls finally get the rest they deserve." Charon explains.
"So will I see her again? The one I love?" Philio blushed.
"You will but you will not remember her until the last day." Charon nodded.
"I see. I hope we become friends and grow close again than." Philio smiled.
"Only time can tell. I must be off. I must find the others as must you." Charon replied.
"How about I just follow you than?" Philio suggested.
"No no. That's cheating. You'll find them have patience." Ron vanishes into the wind and flies away so Philio can't follow him.
Ron appears behind Hilde and manifests. Hilde turns around and sees him and screams. Argo cocks his gun and tries to shoot Ron, but Ron raises his hands in surrender.
"Wait!" Ron begged.
Argo held his gun pointed at Ron, "Are you okay miss?" He asked.
"Yeah he just scared me that's all. Your Ron right? You were with that nasty murder Balaam. What do you want?" Hilde asked.
"From my knowledge... Balaam has only killed one person which is Philip who wanted revenge on Balaam for the things he's done in his mortal life, but if you ask me. Philip isn't much better than Balaam. Philip has killed many just like Balaam in his past." Ron announced calmly.
Hilde wasn't sure what to say, "We asked you a question! What are you doing here?" Argo threatened.
"I just observe everyone. I'm not here to kill. I wanted to get Hilde's story since we ran into her. It's for my task. It deeply help if you could comply to mister." Ron announced.
"I don't really trust you. You don't seem to much against letting Balaam kill everyone." Hilde pointed out.
"Technically Balaam only needs to kill one person to get resurrected." Charon tried not to glance at Argo, "Can I assume that your task is the same. Since you have a gun?" Ron asked Argo who looked nervous.
"I didn't think about that. But he's right! Why else would you need a gun if not to kill people with it!" Hilde panicked.
Argo was in a bad spot right now and he wasn't happy about it, "I'm not a murder like Balaam." Argo replied.
Charon laughed at that unable to hold back, "Oh really? You and Balaam and Kirell are more alike than you guys think. And you dare call yourself not a murder. I'll forgive you since you have no memories of your past." Charon thinks.
"Sorry. I just can't believe you. But I rather not get shot in the face so please hear me out." Ron suggested, "This is my equipment. It's the book of memories. My task is to observe everyone and record their interactions. If I've recorded everyone who participates in the game. At the end of each day it'll give me a riddle to solve which will lead me to my final task I need to complete to be resurrected. At the moment. I have no motive or reason besides cheating death to be resurrected. I'm hoping my book will give me clues." Ron explains.
"Than you must know where everyone is otherwise how else would you be able to complete such an impossible task?" Argo insisted.
Charon looked at the gray haired old man with an eye patch like him, "Nah. I just been following all the tracks you all been making." Charon points to their tracks.
"Interesting. So you can see my tracks even though I hid them so well. You must be trained." Argo pointed out.
"Maybe. I don't remember." Ron shrugged.
Hilde thinks about this, "You could tell Balaam where we are!" Hilde accused.
"Just relocate than." Ron sighed.
"No wait. We could use him. If he was tell Balaam our location we could make a trap and jump him." Argo explains.
"Good luck with that. Balaam won't be easy to take down." Ron sighed.
"Well... since you told me your task. I'll tell you mine." Hilde hands him a blank letter.
"Sweetie you have to write something first on a letter before you give it to people." Charon tells her softly.
"Ugh. I hate writing though. Besides there's nothing to write with." Hilde replied.
"Ha true!" Charon laughed at that fact.
"Anyways Im suppose to write a heart felt letter to someone but I don't know who so I'm just giving them to random people." Hilde replied.
"I will cherish your blank paper and hope you figure out how to write on it and remember to say something nice to me." Charon slightly teased her, "But if you do want to give it to random people. Don't forget old man over there, Balaam and Kirell. It be interesting to see what you'd have to say to all of them." Charon beamed.
"Ugh! Anyone but Balaam!" Hilde cried.
"Here. I want to show you something funny. Kirell has rejected Balaam by accident to be his partner and than he said this hilarious line and I wrote it down." Charon shows Hilda the one page dedicated to Balaam.
"Balaam is a sensitive and vulnerable guy. Balaam is a sensitive and vulnerable guy!" Hilda read out loud.
"If you ask me. No one is truly evil. So long as they own up to their sins and try to repent." Ron replied, "As I've watched Balaam and Kirell interacted with each other. I've grown to wonder... That perhaps... Balaam just needs more time to realize or consider repenting or a little push in the right direction." Ron replied as Argo looked at book curiously.
"May I read your book?" Argo asked.
"Yes but it may not show you certain things. Such as weakness of others or other things. Guess the book is stingy like that." Ron shrugged giving the book to Argo as he read through it.
"Today I have met a girl with quite an attitude problem. Though she was quick to apologize to me when I seemed to point it out in a passive way. Seems she is putting up a front. Is it because of her task that keeps her from her true feelings or perhaps something else. The armored man was my next encounter. A man who is as mysterious to the girl as he is me. When I thought I had him figured out he began to speak and do things out of character. I now doubt myself." Argo read out loud.
Argo pauses for a moment before continuing to read, "Poor Philip died today trying to exact his revenge. This is why revenge is never ideal reason for anything." Argo nodded seeming to agree with that as he continued to read, " In the face of death. I stand completely unphased. I have long forgotten how to feel fear of any kind and this scares the others. Instead I tell them that I haven't accepted this game as reality and put on a show. They have relaxed. I don't think they'd understand how desensitive I am to death. It's nothing for them to be concerned about. I still have a consequence... at least I think so do..."
Argo looked at Ron suspiciously but continued to read out loud, "After gaining Balaam's trust we ran into the sweet Hilde. Kirell tried to protect her but upon hearing from Hilde's lips that she did in fact hear about her task that requires someone's death to progress in completing her task, she alerted Balaam. Though something odd happened. Balaam seeing the scared girl didn't shoot instead asked Kirell to decide her fate. Kirell chose to spare the girl. Hilde got away safely and hopefully she'll be more careful in the future." Agro looked at Ron, "Some of your writing is blacked out. In fact this whole page until it gets to us is blacked out." Argo hands the book back.
"It's the books will not mine." Ron shrugged, "Why not tell us about your gun?" Ron declared.
"You might share it with the enemy." Argo refused.
"Maybe. Maybe not." Ron shrugged.
"I want to know how your gun works!" Hilde frowned, "After all how can I trust you won't kill me?" She got defensive.
"If your that scared Hilde why not take your chances with Balaam. He spared you the first time but maybe as long as you don't get in his way like me he'll let you join us?" Ron suggested.
"Wait please!" Argo panicked, "I'll tell you about my gun." Argo sighed, "I can't shoot it myself. It only shoots if someone else wants it too. I'll show you." Argo points at Ron.
"Permission to shoot you?" Argo asked Ron.
Charon thought about giving him permission just to mess with him, but decided against it, "No." Charon tells him.
"Imma shoot you anyways." Argo tried to shoot as Hilde jumped in the way.
"Noooo- oh?" Hilde sighed in relief, "I really thought you were going to kill him." Hilde sighed in relief.
"Seems like he couldn't even if he wanted to. He needs someone else to want me dead." Ron nodded.
"Correct." Argo sighed, "Though I hate telling this in front of what could possibly be my enemy... I had no choice. If nothing else... I need someone to tell me to shoot the undead or I will be defenseless." Argo sighed.
"I'll tell you both a super secrete in exchange... but if I do... You both must swear that at least one of you will still try and kill Balaam." Charon decided.
"Oh a super secrete!?! Like what?" Hilde asked.
"Balaam's gun has conditions of its own. He can't just kill everyone he sees. Much like Argo there's a certain requirement that needs to be full filled." Charon smirked.
"What seriously!?! What is it?" Hilde looked excited.
"Balaam can only shoot the person who wants to kill him. Otherwise his gun won't work." Charon declared.
"I see! So that's his secrete than. Than if we don't wish to kill Balaam we could get close to him and knock him out than strike." Argo nodded in understanding.
"Wait!?! So Balaam has been pissing people off and saying creepy stuff on purpose!?!" Hilde realized.
"Partly yes but also partly no. Balaam like Philip is dead set on revenge and will kill those who get in his way. In that sense he is dangerous. But now that I've unarmed him with his weakness it'll be interesting to see what happens." Charon smiles.
"While I thank you for telling us his weakness. I now have to wonder what your end goal is." Argo replied.
"Hmmm... I'm not sure. But the more I can interact with everyone. The more chances I will have to complete my task. So I guess in a weird way. I'm hoping for a stalemate on both parties. So I can observe everyone in one whole group." Charon announced.
"I see. That way you won't have to wait for Balaam to pick us all off to complete your task. You can just gather us up in one place where neither side can hurt the other to observe us all. I got admit. Your a scary genius." Hilde replied.
Charon laughed, "So what happens when we do meet in this stalemate?" Argo asked, "Is Balaam and me going to have to duke it out old school fist style?" Argo replied.
"That's very possible. Of course. You have the advantage... if you want Hilde to kill him you can, but at the same time. The moment you or her want to kill him his gun can be used on you and or her. First one to wish the other ones death dies." Charon laughed, "It'll be quite the duel." He admitted, "It maybe possible for Kirell to want you to kill Balaam herself or perhaps others. Only time can tell. But now you know. I look forward to what you decide to do with this knowledge." Charon explains.
"Wait. So maybe no one has to die!?! Maybe we can talk this out and be friends!" Hilde begged.
"Unforately that's impossible. As Charon said. If you don't complete your task you will turn into the undead by the end of the seventh day." Charon tells them.
Argo thinks about this, "But on one hand... You've given me the means to talk to Balaam and Kirell peacefully and decide if I wish to complete my task or not. Hmmm. And If I reject my task... than maybe my death will at least help those who need it." Argo nodded.
"You don't want to get resurrected?" Hilde gasped.
"I'm not sure. I don't want to go into specifics but my task isn't something to do lightly. I'm not sure if resurrection is worth finishing my task." Agro explains.
"Please tell me your task." Hilde begged.
"It won't make any difference telling us now as you've already told us your hesitation in completing it." Ron sighed.
"I... My task is to kill someone precious to me. I don't know why. I still refuse to accept it. I think what I want to know most of all is why I was given this task." Argo replied.
"That's horrible! That's a cruel task to give someone!" Hilde felt bad for him, "But your right there has to be a reason and maybe thanks to Ron we can find that reason together!" Hilde decided.
"So you'll stay with him?" Ron asked.
"Yeah! I want to help him! I don't want to fight Kirell. I think she's actually a good person and I'm not sure about Balaam but you defiantly gave me a lot to think about." Hilde explain.
"I feel in a way... That shedding some light on what's happening is a step to completing my task even if might make you all fail your own tasks. So I apologize. Remember your tasks come first. Never forget that. And if you must fail please accept death so you don't wander as the undead forever." Ron suggested.
"Alright. So I'm guessing your heading back?" Argo asked.
"Yes. Before I go. May I have your name?" Ron asked.
"Argo. And thanks for coming to us today. I don't know who's side your on if anyone's but your information is most valuable and appreciated." Argo replied.
"No thank you. For this lovely interaction. I look forward to seeing more from everyone." Ron bows and runs off disappearing once he gets behind a building out of their sight.
"I got a feeling that Ron guy knows a lot more than he let's on. Though I don't think he's particularly menacing... Just in case we should keeps our heads up." Argo suggested.
"Yeah that's probably a good idea." Hilde nodded.
"Let's get some rest. We'll figure out what to do tomorrow." Argo sighed and they went to look for a place to sleep.
Ron appeared behind a building and ran up to Kirell and Balaam, "Geez guys! I was shouting your name and everything! When did you get ahead of me!?! I was left all by my lonesome!" He cried.
"Ron your okay!" Kirell was relieved.
"I figured you ran off cause you didn't want to be with me anymore." Balaam shrugged.
"No. I was writing in my book and I look up and boom you both were no where in sight!" Ron protested.
"That's what you get for having your head in your book all the time!" Balaam laughed.
"I'll be sure to keep a better eye on you next time. Sorry." Kirell apologized.
"Thanks. I'd really appreciate it." Ron beamed.
"Anyways let's hit the bed. We got a long day tommarow." Balaam yawned and they all went to bed.
"Is it me or does Ron seem kinder?" Kirell thinks as Ron finished writing for the day smiling.
"Seems I've mettled a lot in my own game even though I promised myself not to. Still I'm eager to see the results and mostly because I know that my presence here will most definitely destroy the loop. However what end will these souls get? I'm both scared and eager to see." Ron wrote down heading to bed along with his experience with Hilda and Argo.
