Here's a brand new fireperformershipping one shot for your viewing pleasure. Pokemon do talk in this one shot today. Synopsis- While having some trouble training for the next showcase in Dendemille Town, Braixen discovers a dance group practicing for a concert tonight. As she watches them practice, Braixen can't help but dance with them as the group's leader notices Braixen's stellar moves and asks for her to perform with them tonight. Braixen says yes, and that night, performs with them, however, as Serena watches her partner under the spotlight, she contemplates on whether this is actually what Braixen wants to do...even considering giving her to the group. That's all I'm going to reveal. Disclaimer- I do not own pokemon, nor the songs and lyrics that I use today.
Our heroes are currently outside of the pokemon center in Dendemille Town, training hard on the battlefield. Ash is preparing for his seventh Kalos gym battle against the Anistar City gym leader while Serena is preparing for tomorrow's pokemon showcase. After her debut loss in Coumarine City, Serena was determined more than ever to win this time, and her pokemon felt the same way. Braixen and Pancham were working to their limit, not stopping unless they were perfect.
At the moment, Pancham used stone edge to create tall pillars as Braixen was trying to jump and flip onto each one. However, a mistake in her footwork caused her to slip and fall, landing on the ground with a hard THUD. Serena rushed towards her, asking,"Are you ok? You're not hurt, are you"? Braixen easily got up, saying with a hint of annoyance,"[ I'm just fine ," before sighing in frustration.
Pancham walked up to her, saying,"[ Don't worry B. We still have time to try it again. Let's give it another go ]." Braixen breathed in and out before saying,"[ Ok. Let's run through it again. ]." So, they tried it again, but the same thing happened as a frustrated and slightly angry Braixen got up, saying,"[ What went wrong this time?! My feet were in the right place, so, why did I slip again ]"?! Serena was taking note of how the stone edge formed and got an idea, saying,"I think the problem is that the top of the stone edge doesn't provide a lot of room for your feet to properly land Braixen. Pancham, do you think you can create your stone pillars more like cylinders instead of its usual pointed style"?
Pancham smiled before saying,"[ You know I can Serena! Let's do it straight from the top ," before Braixen said in frustration,"[ Yeah, and mess up for a third time today? No thanks ]"! This behavior was new to Serena as she said to her partner,"Braixen, I know you're frustrated, but there's no need to be like that." The firefox bit her lip before saying,"[ It's more than just being frustrated about getting this right! I don't want to mess up like I did in our debut! I don't want to make the same mistakes as before! It's so much pressure to perfect everything and...I feel like one wrong move and I'll cave in, ruining everything ]"!
Seeing how anxious and upset Braixen looked, Serena placed a comforting hand on her shoulder and said,"It's ok. There's nothing to worry about. We don't need to be perfect and if we do make a mistake, that's all right because we can learn from it and get better." Her words didn't seem to make Braixen feel better as Serena sighed before saying,"Tell you what. Why don't we take a break? Then, later on, we can practice the routine again, step by step. Ok"? Pancham nodded in agreement as Braixen gave a small smile and nodded as well.
Luckily, Clemont had finished making lunch and called everyone inside. As the group ate, Serena shared her troubles with Braixen, saying,"She feels like the pressure is based on her and it's stressing her out. I honestly don't know what to do to help her." Ash seemed to get how she felt as she says,"Maybe you should do something with her that's fun and relaxing." Clemont added,"Ash is right. A quiet, calm activity can really help the mental mind and relax the body, freeing it of pent up tension and anxiety."Meanwhile, Braixen was sharing her troubles with the rest of the pokemon as they all listened and wanted to help.
Frogadier then suggested,"Why not take a walk by yourself? Back when I was a Froakie, when I felt frustrated or stressed out, I just took some time to be alone and walked anywhere I wanted. The sounds of nature are very soothing towards your soul." Braixen seemed to like that idea, saying,"[ You know? That might just be what I need ]." She finished eating her food before standing up and saying,"[ I'm going on a walk! I'll be back later ," before exiting the pokemon center. Serena looked up, only hearing the "I'm going on a walk" part, and started to get up and follow her. However, Ash stopped her, saying,"Just let her have some time to herself. This could help her calm down," as Serena, reluctant as she was, sat back down, agreeing with him. However, what he failed to realize was that Pikachu snuck out to follow her, just in case she ran into danger.
Meanwhile, Braixen was strolling the sidewalks, viewing the passing cars, people, and store windows with each step. The breeze tousled her fur with each pass, and the Fletchlings chirping were like a soothing melody. She smiled and sighed in content; Frogadier was right, this was just what she needed. Suddenly, she heard speedy footsteps follow her as she turned to look, seeing Pikachu coming towards her. She asked in curiosity,"[ Pikachu, what are you doing here? Not that I'm not happy to see you, but why'd you follow me ]"?
Pikachu just scratched the back of his head, saying,"[ I just thought you might need a friend. Besides, I can help protect you in case Team Rocket tries to catch us; you know how they are ]." Braixen couldn't help but blush and say,"[ I guess I didn't consider that, but even if they don't attack us, I'd love to have you join me Pikachu ]." So, both pokemon walked side by side around the streets of Dendemille Town, soon stopping at the stadium where the showcase would take place tomorrow. Pikachu looked up at it, saying,"[ Tomorrow, you're going to be up there and you're going to shine like the star you are ]."
Before Braixen could respond to that, her ears twitched as she asked,"[ Did you hear that? It sounds like...music ]"? Pikachu heard it too as both pokemon followed the sound, coming across a big field next to the stadium. At the field was a trainer and a couple of pokemon: Gliscor, Lucario, Luxray, and a shiny Braixen. On the turntables, with headphones on and resembling a DJ was an Umbreon, and sitting next to the turntables was a Glaceon. Pikachu and Braixen hid behind a bush to watch as the group seemed to be practicing a number.
The trainer looked to be Ash's age, had ocean blue eyes, tan skin, mid waist length brown hair with colorful neon highlights, and was sporting a shirt that said "Dance Revolution," a jean jacket that had a pokeball and music note on the back and said "Pokemon Dance Squad," black denim jeans, and colorful sneakers. She was facing her pokemon and saying,"Ok guys, the concert is tonight and we still need to go over the final number, so, I only have one question to ask. Who's ready to have some fun"?! Her pokemon cheered in agreement as Pikachu whispered,"[ They must be a dance group ]." Braixen was able to mutter,"[ They sure look like they love to have fun ]."
The trainer then pointed to her Umbreon and shouted,"DJ Moonlight! Let's get into the zone," as it pressed a big red button, saying,"[ You got it Marley!! One rad beat coming right up ]"! Her Luxray stood on the other side of the turntables, ready to beatbox to the beat. It used psychic to manipulate the controls carefully as music started to play. Marley and her pokemon began to tap their feet, getting a feel of the music. Braixen couldn't help but do the same thing, finding the song quite catchy.

As the group was dancing, Braixen was dancing along with them and her moves surprised Pikachu a lot. It was like he was seeing a whole different side of her, a side where she was free and having a ball. Braixen was stepping, twisting, spinning and dancing...just like a professional dancer. Little did they know was that her moves caught the eyes of Marley as she was really impressesd. Braixen's dancing abilities made her smile as she said,"Sid, Luke, why don't you give her a dance squad welcome"? They nodded and moved towards her, making Braixen stop and watch them in awe.
Sid: They can try to deny our style, but we were born this way. 'Cause you can take the VK out of the Isle, but you can't take the Isle out the VK.
Luke: If you wanna make it hype, not a moment to waste. Make it loud, make it hype, make it jump to the bass. Make it what you want, but you better make your case. 'Cause the Isle makes us and we're reppin' this place.

As Luke and Sid break danced in front of Braixen, she couldn't help but join in, moonwalking before spinning perfect pirouettes. Marley watched in awe, impressed by the firefox's skills, even Violet was awestruck.

Once the song ended, Marley went up to Braixen, saying,"Those were some of the greatest moves I've ever seen. Who are you, who's the lucky trainer to have you on their team, where are you from"? Pikachu came out from behind the bush and joined up with Braixen. Marley noticed Pikachu, asking,"Is this Pikachu a friend of yours"? Braixen nodded as Marley smiled, saying,"It's nice to meet you two. Allow us to introduce ourselves. We're the Pokemon Dance Squad!!
I'm Marley from Santalune City. These are my partners. Violet, my special Braixen and #1 partner, Luke the Lucario, Sid the Gliscor, by the turntables are Leo the Luxray, DJ Moonlight the Umbreon, and Flurry the Glaceon." Marley's team all waved at the pair as Braixen and Pikachu waved hello back. Before Marley could ask another question, someone shouting,"Pikachu, where'd you go," caught her attention as Pikachu recognized that voice anywhere.
Luckily, that voice belonged to Ash Ketchum, who spotted Pikachu and reunited with his faithful partner. Trailing behind him were Clemont, Bonnie, and Serena, who noticed Braixen standing next to Marley. Marley walked up to the group, asking,"Are any of you guys the trainer of this very talented and well-trained Braixen"? Serena walked up to Marley, saying,"I am, Braixen's my partner. I'm sorry if she was interrupting your rehersal."
Marley chuckled before saying,"Are you kidding? If she didn't show up, I wouldn't have gotten to see her talent. You got a real superstar on your hands Serena. In fact, I'm glad you're here because I want to ask a favor of you." This made everyone quite curious as Braixen could only wonder what Marley would want with her. Marley then asked,"You see, we're having a concert tonight and I was hoping that it'd be ok if you'd let your Braixen perform with us." Hearing that, everyone gasped in shock, having such an opportunity come towards Serena and Braixen so fast. Serena recovered quickly by saying,"I'd love to let Braixen do this, but...we're getting ready for tomorrow's pokemon showcase and..I don't want Braixen to overwork herself."
Marley seemed to understand as she says,"Need not to worry. Our routines never exhaust anyone out. Besides, I can tell that you've been working hard and deserve a little break. What's one night of performing going to do? Plus, your Braixen looks like she really wants to do it," which made Serena look to see Braixen really excited. She really, really, really wanted to do this. Serena grew concern, saying,"I really don't know..." Braixen basically hugged her trainer tight while giving the most heartbreaking pleading eyes while saying,"[ Please please please let me do this!!! I really want to go up there and sing and dance and have fun!!! Please ]"?
Finally, Serena caved, saying,"Ok ok. You can be in the performance." Braixen cheered and hugged Serena tightly again while bombarding her with thanks as she went up to Marley as the girl said,"Splendid! Tonight is going to be a great show! As a little treat, here are four tickets to tonight's concert and you guys are lucky enough to have the best seats in the house," which made everyone jaw drop in amazement as they received the tickets. Bonnie was excited, saying,"I've never been to a concert before! This is going to be so much fun," with Dedenne chirping in agreememt. Clemont said,"This is such an honor thank you." Ash added,"Yeah, thanks so much for the tickets."
Marley bowed before saying,"Think nothing of it. Consider it my way of thanking you guys. I promise Braixen will be in great hands and paws. We'll meet up with you guys at the end of the show and bring her to you guys. Sounds good"? Serena nodded as she says,"Sounds good. If it's ok, can I stay and watch you rehearse? It might give me an idea for tomorrow's showcase." Marley nodded while saying,"Sure thing. We still have time before we need to go in and set up the stage. Stay as long as you need."
Serena told her friends that she'd meet them at the pokemon center later on as they headed back. Luke led Serena to a rock seat so she could sit and watch from a safe distance. Pancham sat on her lap as the two watched Marley and her pokemon warm up and stretched. Marley then said,"Ok, since Braixen will be joining us tonight, in honor of this, we're going to create a dance number and have her sing and dance in the shining center. I selected a song for you to sing Braixen. All you need to do is memorize the lyrics," as she gave her a music sheet with the lyrics. Braixen took a look at them before rolling the paper up, fitting it in her tail.
Marley smiled before saying,"Now, you guys are ready to have some fun," as everyone cheered in excitement. Serena saw the smile on Braixen's face as she thought Braixen was never this excited for rehearsing before. Before, she was so stressed out and worried about the pressure, but now, she's relaxed, excited and having a lot of fun. I wonder why.
Over the next few hours, Marley and her team, including Braixen, rehearsed their routines and created the ultimate dance number for Braixen's song. The firefox kept practicing the lyrics until she could say them with her eyes closed and no need of looking at her lyric sheet. Overall, she was having the time of her life, spinning and moving professionally to the beat of the music, all while keeping a care free enjoyable attitude. No pressure, no stress, no mishaps or mistakes, no worries. Braixen was having the time of her life.
While Serena and Pancham were getting plenty of ideas for future routines, Serena kept her eyes more on her partner rather than the dances. Seeing her with a huge smile on her face and having loads of fun, it got her thinking Man, Braixen is really enjoying herself. Plus, I've never seen her dance this well before. I guess since she's doing this for fun, she doesn't have to worry about making a mistake or slipping up. She can be able to experiment with her dancing abilities, try different styles out, all while having fun without a care in the world. It's as if...she belongs on stage. She remained silent for the rest of rehearsals as Pancham looked at her in concern.
Later on, after Serena went back to the pokemon center, Marley and her crew went into the stadium and started setting up the stage, fixing the lights, setting up the turntables, even setting up a smoke machine. Afterwards, they were all in the dressing room getting changed into their performing gear. They all were wearing jean jackets much similar to Marley's. For Braixen, she was wearing a black leather jacket, the collar bedazzled with silver sequins, even the team's logo on the back. She also had 2 light up ribbons tied in the fur of her ears. She was even wearing sequined bangles on her wrists and had a sparkly headband. Tonight, she wasn't Braixen, she was Flare, a young upcoming pokemon music star ( she made up the "young upcoming pokemon music star" and Marley came up with the stage name ).
Once nightfall came, the stadium was becoming packed with people coming to watch the concert. Our heroes were in the audience, awaiting for the show to start. Bonnie was giddy with excitement, saying,"I can't wait to see Braixen perform. I know she'll be great," with Dedenne chirping in agreement. Ash says,"This is going to be so awesome! First Braixen will light up the stage, then you will tomorrow Serena." Serena was silent at the moment, but after hearing Ash say that, responded with,"Let's focus on tonight at the moment." Suddenly the lights went out as the spotlights turned on and circled the stage.
A booming voice, DJ Moonlight's, came from the speakers, saying,"[ Good evening Dendemille Town!! Are you ready to dance the night away ]"?! The audience cheered loudly and clapped just as loud, as DJ Moonlight continued with,"[ Then, let's welcome to the stage ladies and gentlemen the one and only: Pokemon Dance Squad ]"!!! Smoke appeared onstage as rising onto it was Marley, who shouted,"How's everyone doing tonight"?! Receiving loud cheers from the crowd, she continued with,"We have a very special treat for you tonight, but first, let's meet and give it up for the Squad!!
First, he's an aerial acrobat and a great break dancer who is known for breaking hearts and flashy starts. Give it up for my glamorous Gliscor, Sid"!! Sid appeared in a puff of smoke, spinning on his head before landing on his feet, crossing his arms. When he lifted down his shades and gave a wink, almost every female fan squealed in excitement. Marley then said,"Up next, she's feisty and tough, but when she moves, you just can't get enough. Plus, when things get heated, she helps to make it cool. My gracious Glaceon, Flurry"!! Flurry also appeared in a puff of smoke, spinning on her back while using blizzard to create a beautiful display before jumping to her feet, letting the snow make her coat shine. Ash was impressed as he says,"Awesome! It's did a countershield," as Pikachu said in amazement,"[ Didn't think we'd see that again. Awesome ]"!
Marley then said,"Up next, you know and love him. A terrific dancer with big moves and an even bigger heart. My lucky Lucario, Luke"!! Luke appeared in a puff of smoke as well, doing a one hand handstand before flipping to his feet, bowing towards the audience. Marley then said,"Finally, the one who's been there by my side since the very beginning. An expert in ballet, break dancing, Bollywood, you name it, she can do. My #1 partner and beautiful Braixen, Violet"!! Violet jumped high out of her puff of smoke before launching flamethrower in the air, creating fiery fireworks. The audience went crazy with their cheers and applause as the Squad bowed and prepared to dance.

The Pokemon Dance Squad was dancing and having loads of fun with every turn, spin, twist, step, and dance step. The audience was either clapping along, dancing along, singing along, or doing all the above.
Marley: Patience running thin, running thin. Come again? Tell me what I get! Opposite, opposite. Show me what is real. If it breaks, does it heal? Open up your ears, why you think that I'm here?
Marley and Violet: Keep me in the dark, are you even thinking of me? Is someone else above me? Gotta know, gotta know. What am I gonna do? 'Cause I can't get through to you. So, what's it gonna be? Tell me, can you hear me?

The audience cheered wildly as the Squad bowed, with Marley saying,"Thank you. However, save the applause because the night's just getting started. It's time we reveal to you our little treat. Now, who here in the audience wishes they were a superstar"? Almost everyone in the audience rose their hands as Marley counted before saying,"It seems like a lot of you wish that. I wish that myself as well. However, what if I told you that that wish...could become a reality"? The audience whispered in wonder and intrigue.
As Marley's squad, with the exception of Flurry, headed backstage, the Santalune City native continued with,"Well, I can easily say that one pokemon had that wish...and tonight...it's going to become a reality. Ladies and gentlemen, for the first time tonight, I give you a duet by Flurry and our special guest...Flare"!! As Marley went backstage and the audience cheered, Braixen rose onto the stage via platform in her music outfit, ready to tear the house down.
Once the spotlight was put on her, the audience cheered in amazement, our heroes stunned at Braixen's sudden transformation. The firefox looked out at the audience before saying,"[ Who's ready to have fun tonight ]"?! The audience applauded and cheered loudly in response as Braixen winked at Flurry, who said, "[ Hit it ," which got the music to start.

As Braixen and Flurry were dancing and singing, the audience were intrigued by "Flare," many saying she was a born natural. Serena overheard many of these comments and actually agreed. Braixen was a natural at this, being on stage, singing and dancing, and not having to worry about doing something wrong or losing. On one hand, Serena felt torn on what she wanted best for her partner. On the other...she did have one idea...but she doesn't like it and she knows her friends wouldn't like it either.
Flare: The best of both worlds, yeah. You go to movie premieres ( Flurry: [ No way!! It's Diantha!!! ] ).
Both: Hear your songs on the radio ( Flurry: Woah Woah )
Flare: Living two lives is a little weird. Yeah, but school's cool cuz nobody knows ( Flurry: Nobody knows )

The audience was silent for a minute before they all got up from their seats and clapped harder than they ever had and cheered so loud, they could get sore throats. Our heroes were up from their seats cheering as well, happy for Braixen doing such an outstanding job. Serena got up from her seat too, but she was silent. Her gaze was on Braixen's smile, which was prominent on her face. Serena knew then, what she thought at least, what she had to do after the concert.
Hours later, after the concert finally came to an end, everyone was leaving, excitement still buzzing after such a fun night. Ash and the others already went back to the pokemon center while Serena volunteered to pick up Braixen. As she waited, Marley came out, her team in her pokeballs, with Braixen by her side still in her music gear, spotting Serena easily. The firefox ran and hugged Serena tight as the Vaniville Town native had a small smile.
Marley smiled, saying,"I cannot thank you enough Serena, your Braixen was the star of the show tonight!! This was one of the best concerts we've ever had thanks to you." Braixen blushed and said,"[ Happy I could help!! I had so much fun today!!! I feel so much better ]." Serena then looked at Marley before saying,"Oh Marley...I want to give you something before you go," while fishing through her waistcoat pocket. Marley started to say,"If it's a flower, thank you very-," before getting interrupted by what was placed in her hand: a pokeball.
Marley looked at it curiously before saying,"A pokeball? Not the most unusual gift I've received from a fan, but..what am I supposed to do with it"? Serena then pushed Braixen away from the hug while saying,"It's...Braixen's. I want her to join your dance squad." This shocked both Braixen and Marley as Serena continued with,"Seeing her onstage tonight, I saw that she was much happier just singing and dancing without the pressure and stresses of competition weighing her down. I knew that if she continued showcase with me, she'll just remain stressful and always feel pressured. However, with you, she could be at peace and truly be herself."
Braixen shook her head, saying,"[ Serena, I don't get what you're saying ]." Serena started to develop tears as she turned away from Braixen, saying,"This is just as hard for me as it is for you. I know this is what you really want. I know you'll have a happier life doing this instead of showcases and I know that well, I really do." Braixen and Marley wanted to protest, but Serena ran off just before they could say something.
Braixen could only shout,"[ Serena!! Come back!! Serena ," as she watched her trainer disappear. Braixen faced Marley and asked,"[ Why would she leave me? I know I love to dance and sing, but I love her most of all. She's my best friend and without her, a part of me is incomplete ]." Marley responded with,"Then, you need to find her and convince her that." She gave Braixen back her pokeball while saying,"Go. Find her. What she needs right now is a friend." Braixen smiled and nodded as she ran to try and find Serena and she had a pretty good idea where she might be right now.
"YOU RELEASED HER"?! Our heroes exclaimed as they listened to Serena, who explained what happened. Bonnie was upset, saying,"But why?! Braixen was your partner"!! Serena lowered her head and said,"I had to. She's been unhappy with me lately and this is what's best for her." Suddenly a voice came through the doors, shouting,"[ That's not true Serena ]"!! Everyone turned and saw that it was Braixen, who was catching her breath from running towards the pokemon center.
Serena was the first to respond, saying,"What are you doing here? You were happier with Marley and her friends! Go back now"! Braixen was persistent, saying,"[ Serena, I'm happiest when I'm with you. I get you were looking out for my best interests, but what you were looking at were dreams. I love performing, I love to sing and dance, but what I love most of all is you. You're my best friend and nothing will change the fact that I love spending time with you ]." Serena didn't know what to say, except,"But you seemed happiest when you were dancing for fun and when you were practicing earlier with Pancham and me, you felt stressed out and frustrated." Braixen responded with,"[ Only because I was messing up in front of you. I was having an off day and now, I'm better and I want more than anything is to help you become Kalos Queen. Your dream is my dream as well and we'll accomplish it...together ]."
Serena was touched as she quietly said,"Oh Braixen...," before putting her in a tight hug, sobbing into her shoulder while repeating,"I'm so sorry Braixen! I'm so sorry! You mean so much to me"! Braixen just rubbed her back, saying,"You mean so much to me too." Once she separated, Braixen offered her pokeball, saying,"So, you ready to do it..together"? Serena grabbed the pokeball while saying,"I am. Return and rest up for now partner," as Braixen was returned to her pokeball for a good night sleep. Serena was lucky to have Braixen just as much as Braixen was lucky to have Serena. They were partners; always have been, always will be.
