The Forgotten Origins of Willy Wonka
There was a man named Willy Peterson. He was a single father of a four year old girl named Emily. Two years ago, he was divorced by her mother, Janet who left them both for an affair. Since then, he dedicated his life for Emily. They would do everything together. Together, they ran a small candy shop downtown. It was called Willy and Emily's Sweet Shop. They made all kinds of sweet, homemade goodies. They loved making candy, despite having little business.
In their spare time, they would watch Emily's favorite show " Wonka the Snail." It was about a talking snail who taught children puzzle solving skills. They had fun watching it together.
Whenever Emily was asleep, Willy would stay up late. He would work down in his basement working on new inventions. He dreamed of changing the world. However, everything he built would blow up in his face. One night, the night of his birthday, Emily came downstairs with a gifted package and a cupcake. Willy was working on another one of his inventions that could change the world. Emily set the cupcake and gift next to Willy as he looked at her gracefully and said "Thank you." He opened the gift and it turned out to be a purple coat. She said she hand knit it herself and it would look good on him. Willy smiled at her with such kindness and said "Yes it would". They shared the cupcake and afterwards, Willy walked her to bed.
One horrible day, Emily says she feels sick. She begins to cough loudly and feel a tightness in her chest. Willy rushed to her and called the hospital. At the hospital, the doctor told Willy that she had a serious case of pneumonia. The hospital has done everything they could to save her. Emily was going to die. Willy had tears in his eyes when he heard this news. He held her hand and kissed her on the head as she was slowly dying.
After Emily died, Willy spent weeks working in his basement alone. He didn't bother coming to work. The candy shop was out of business. But as time went on, Willy began to remember how much he dedicated his life for his daughter. So he figured that is what he will continue to do. The first thing he did was legally change his last name to Wonka. Willy Wonka. He remembered how much Wonka the Snail made Emily smile and how much it reminded him of her because of its child-like nature and wonder. Then he would continue his candy legacy by opening a new candy store. There, he would come up with new and better ideas for candy so business would be booming. He wished his daughter could see it.
