Chapter 15: Beach Volleyball / Mattrex
For a staff trip, everyone at Maid Latte came to Satsuki's sister, Nagisa's, place to enjoy their first day of vacation along with Tendou and his family, and now it was morning of the second day. Truthfully, everyone was up late last night, and it was already afternoon.
Misaki was the last to wake up. She wore a pink shirt and black shorts. Yawning, she walked out the balcony with a toothbrush in her hand. She slid the window and saw Tendou standing outside already. He wore a red Hawaiian shirt and dark blue shorts.
"Ohayo (Good morning), Tendou." she greeted, but the latter didn't respond. "Tendou? Huh! ?" she gaped in astonishment to see something that was impossible.
He was sleeping while standing! ?
Sonia entered the room and saw Misaki on the balcony. "Oh, good! You're up! Your late breakfast is almost ready.
"S-Sonia, how is Tendou able to sleep like that?" Misaki questioned in disbelief, pointing at him.
Sonia quickly approached and saw her sleeping-and-standing son. "Oh, well, uh, he practices sleeping like that some time." she lied, knew the reason, "Tendou, have you been up guarding the whole night?"
Misaki moved a bit closer and waved her right hand at his face. "Wow. He really is sleeping while standing. I don't think it's possible."
A grin grew on the purple-ish pink-haired mother's face, "Hey, Misaki, wanna draw his face?" she asked perkily with a black marker in her hand.
"Here you go, Misaki." Hope placed a bowl of chicken ramen and a plate of two bacon on the table.
"Arigato (Thank you), Hope."
The door was heard open as Tendou entered the dining room with a drawn mustache on his face.
"Who's the one that drew my face?" he asked with a small frown.
Everyone saw the teenage boy's face and blurted out a laugh.
"That's what you get for sleeping while standing!" Misaki stated, holding her laugh.
Tendou walked to the sink and turned on the faucet to wash it off.
Standing beside him was Draco, "Master Tendou, would you like to have leftover pizza from last night?" he asked.
"Sure."
The Maid Latte girls stopped laughing and widened their eyes at Draco in disbelief.
In their minds: "HE'S STILL WEARING THAT! ?"
Nagisa was the first to break the silence. "Would any of you girls like to enter the beach volleyball tournament?"
"A beach volleyball tournament?" Sonia questioned.
"Nagisa, isn't that where earn the Beach Princess title?" Satsuki asked her younger sister as the latter nodded.
"Beach Princess?" Misaki asked after swallowing her ramen.
"You've never heard of it?" Satsuki stood up from the table as the black-haired girl shook her head. "The winning team will become the Prince and Princess of the night." she pointed at the wall that had several photos of Nagisa at the beach volleyball tournament. "There'll be lots of photo shoots going on the main event. You'll get lots of costumes to wear as part of the show, and you can choose from many bikinis."
"I see. I'm not very interested in that, but it's my motto to take challenges seriously. I'll go for the win." Misaki replied, finishing the rest of her ramen.
Sonia and Hope examined the photos and were surprised to see Nagisa's victory.
"Wow, Nagisa, you must be good at volleyball!" the purple-ish pink-haired mother praised.
"Thank you, Sonia! The tournament must be a pair. Since Tendou is the only boy here, he should pair with Misaki." Nagisa pointed.
Tendou took a bite of his slice of pizza and shot his head at the long dark purple-haired woman. "Wait a minute, Nagisa! Sports isn't one of my best activities! I don't know how volleyball works!" he retorted in defense.
"Don't worry about that, Tendou. I'll train you and Misaki." Sonia replied, "Your father and I used to play volleyball when we were young."
"Nagisa, are you gonna join the tournament, too?" Geo asked.
The long dark purple-haired responded with a sigh, "Unfortunately, no. Starting this year, they added an age limit. You must be under twenty to participate." she explained in disappointment, "I'm 24, so I'm out of the picture."
"Hahaha! You better not lose to the heat, Tendou!" Kelvin cheerfully patted the boy's back shoulder, "Because you're going to sweat like a waterfall while you're at it!"
Tendou sighed and continued to eat his leftover pizza. He had to figure out how to endure the heat and prevent himself from slipping on the sand.
"Misaki, have you ever played beach volleyball before?" Hope asked the black-haired girl.
"No, I haven't. I only know indoor volleyball, but running on sand is more difficult." Misaki answered the latter.
"Neither is Tendou. He's more of a... slow learner when it comes to sport."
Later at the beach volleyball tournament
"Hello, everyone! It's that time of the year again! Sponsored by the Hakusen Beach, the beach volleyball tournament! Your enemy isn't just the opponent in front of you! It's the blazing sun! The sand under your foot! And the gusting wind! Who will be the ones to conquer the tournament through teamwork and become the Beach Prince and Princess tonight! ? Let's all have fun tonight, too!" the host announced as the crowd cheered.
The Maid Latte girls and the Stelar family arrived at the tournament.
"Oh, looks like it's starting." Satsuki spoke, using an umbrella to shield herself from the heat.
"But where are Misa-chan and Tendou?" Honoka asked.
"They're not here?" Satsuki scanned the area and didn't find the two teenagers, "Sonia should be done helping them practice by now." she suddenly saw the three from afar, "Look, there they are!" she pointed.
The two teenagers walked forward with dark looks on their faces. Misaki had her eyes on fire, and Tendou had a monstrous look on his face, growling as if he turned into a Noise Jammer.
"We will DEFINITELY win!" they declared.
The crowd shrieked in fright and immediately backed away from them.
Next to the two teenagers, Sonia had a happy look on her face.
The Maid Latte girls stared at the two with confused looks on their faces, but Geo and his parents had disturbed looks.
"Uhh... that's Misa-chan and Tendou... right?" Honoka asked uncomfortably, "What happened to those two in such a short period of time?"
"What kind of training did Sonia teach them?" Subaru asked in stutter.
The Maid Latte girls' face turned blue and were officially scared of Sonia.
"Oh dear." Hope said.
"That's my daughter-in-law." Kelvin linked his right arm around Geo's shoulder, "Geo, tell me again how did you meet her."
"That's a very long story."
The competitors gathered up and checked their names on the board to see who was against who.
Misaki was in her red sports bra with pink and white vertical strips and red panties. Tendou still wore his red Hawaiian shirt and dark blue shorts.
"Wish... we have... more time for his." Tendou said, panting heavily from the heat.
"Don't worry, Tendou. We'll definitely win! Besides, your mother helped us train for this!" Misaki assured him, then noticed he was sweating badly. "Are you sure you can go on just like that? Why can't you just take your shirt off?"
"I-I have a reason." the spiky brown-haired replied through panting.
Misaki wasn't sure why he wouldn't remove his shirt but shrugged it off.
"There you two are!" a voice called as the two turned, seeing Erika a bit of distance from them; she wore a blue swimsuit. "You two look totally pumped up for this."
"Erika?" Misaki gaped in astonishment to see her partner was a certain cosplaying dragon. "D-DRACO! ?" the two walked towards them, "Wh-Why are you two here?" she asked in confusion.
"When I heard Misa-chan would participate, it made me want to participate, too! There wasn't any boy I'm familiar with so I asked Draco to be my partner, and he agreed! I love beach volleyball, since it's so much fun!" Erika explained cheerfully.
Deadpanning, Misaki eyed at the cosplaying dragon in bewilderment, "D-Draco, you agreed and participated here, too?" she questioned with a skeptical look on her face, "Do you know how to play volleyball? More importantly, aren't you still burning up in that costume?"
"Of course, Misaki. Tendou's mother taught me once." the Imagin dragon nodded, "And I'm fine."
"I don't want to be rude, Draco, but how old are you?" Misaki asked nervously.
"Eighteen." Draco lied.
The curly auburn haired noticed Misaki's panting partner was drenched in sweat, "Tendou, are you okay? Shouldn't you take your shirt off?" she asked concernedly.
"My thoughts exactly." Misaki replied.
"This... is nothing... "
And so, the beach volleyball tournament had begun.
The first round.
Misaki smacked the ball with her fierce strength and won the challenge.
The second round.
"Tendou, go for it!" she notified him.
The spiky brown-haired lifted his head up and formed his right arm as a sword. He twirled his body and swung his right arm, knocking the ball back in the air as it landed on the far left corner.
The third round
Their two opponents were scared-stiff at Tendou and Misaki's fiery aura, causing them to forfeit the match.
"Those two... are incredible." Honoka said.
"Every round they play, their opponents get even more terrified." Subaru stated.
"They're like two peas in a pod." Hope followed.
"Those two are like demons." Kelvin sweatdropped.
"Sonia, what did you do to them?" Geo asked his wife.
"Oh, I taught them something like "dominate your enemies and achieve victory"." Sonia answered happily with a bright smile.
The Maid Latte girls turned blue at Tendou's mother. They were scared of her even more than the Misaki and Tendou.
The final round.
It was Tendou and Misaki against Draco and Erika.
Tendou and Misaki were pumped up with intense flames in their eyes.
"It's going just as I hoped for!" the black-haired girl said.
"Draco, I won't go easy on you!" the spiky brown-haired followed.
Erika let out a nervous laugh, "I'm sure there are several schemes going on there."
"Do not fret, Erika. Leave it to me." Draco assured the curly auburn-haired girl.
"Uhhh... before we start the final match, hey, uhhh, you in the dragon costume, are you still feeling all right in the heat?" the referee asked in concern.
"I am fine." Draco answered with a nod.
Sweating heavily, Tendou panted and couldn't take this heat much longer. It was driving him insane. He suddenly shot eyes at the audience behind Draco and Erika and heard their conversation due to his sharp hearing.
"Say, who do you think will be this year's Princess?"
"I hope it's that sexy girl in blue."
"Is that really her boyfriend? He seems to have a death wish in that costume."
"I'm hoping for that girl in red. I bet she's available."
"Wait a minute, is that really a guy? He has a girl's face."
"Seriously? That's a guy? I thought he was a girl."
"Are those two together?"
Narrowing his dagger eyes at them, Tendou couldn't believe those filthy men would go near Misaki when the match is over. He refused to let anyone touch her. Draco heard them as well. He eyed at the teenager as the two gave each other a nod.
"The final match, begin!" the referee announced.
Erika was the first to toss the ball to the other side as Misaki bounced it back. Draco jumped above the net and smacked the ball into the sand. Tendou quickly appeared and gave it an uppercut, sending it back in the air. The Imagin dragon wouldn't let that happen as he parried by bashing his head on the ball, hitting the sand.
"The first set is won by Draco-Erika pair!" the referee blew the whistle as the crowd cheered.
"Wow. Draco is good at this." Misaki complimented between panting, "To think he can actually move so well in this heat. Seriously, Tendou, what's with him?" she asked her panting partner.
"Hey... this is Draco... He has his way."
"I've never thought Draco can endure this heat very well, even though he is a cosplayer." Nagisa thought.
Tendou grew a smirk and had no choice but to use his secret weapon. "Batoru Kaado (Battle Card). HobaaShuuzu (HoverShoes)." he mumbled.
"The second set, begin!"
Draco tossed the ball high in the air as Misaki chased after it before it could hit the sand.
"No good! I won't make it!" she shouted inwardly until a figure passed by her at a quick speed, "Huh?" she looked to see Tendou jumped in the air but didn't know he could run this fast.
"HIYA! !" Tendou punched the ball to the other side and hit the sand.
"The second set is won by Tendou-Misaki pair!"
"Nice one, Tendou!" Misaki praised with a thumbs-up.
"If Draco is going all-out, then so am I." the spiky brown-haired replied with a smirk.
"The third set, begin!
The ball was smacked by Tendou as Draco jumped up and sent it back. Chasing after it, Tendou leaped up and countered.
Misaki and Erika dropped their mouths to the ground, deadpanned. They were astonished to see those two sending the ball back to each other one after another. The two girls watched them as if they were sparring.
Instead of playing the beach volleyball, they had completely forgotten this was just a tournament.
The black-haired girl noticed something odd about her partner. "How's Tendou running so fast on the sand?" she questioned thoughtfully, then eyed at his feet in astonishment.
He wasn't running on the sand.
He was actually sliding on it as if he was skating!
"How's he doing that! ?" she questioned again with her eyes widened.
The Stelar family noticed it as well.
"Geo, is Tendou cheating?" Sonia asked her husband with a disappointed look on her face.
"I think he is."
"Oh, dear. Our grandson still doesn't understand what sports are." Hope sighed.
"This reminds me of when I was in high school." Kelvin said with a small laugh, "Ah, the good youth."
The audience and the referee were literally scared of those two and their monstrous' strength and speed.
In their minds: "Are they really humans?"
The ball was in the center of the air as Tendou and Draco jumped forward to see who would hit it first.
"Here I go, Draco!"
"Bring it!"
Suddenly, the sand burst beneath them as the mechanical tyrannosaurus in red-and-orange armor came out in the air with a loud roar. "RRRRAAAAAAAAAWWWWWHHHHHH! ! !" It caught the ball with its teeth, making a loud pop, then spun and smacked Tendou and Draco with its tail.
The two landed on the sand as their respective partners helped them up.
Geo and Sonia stood up in shock to see one of the Repliforce's armies right before their eyes.
"Why is there a dinosaur here! ?" Satsuki questioned in fright.
"I don't know, but it looks scary!" Honoka replied, trembling.
The mechanical tyrannosaurus set a small flame in its mouth and burned the ball until it was shredded into little pieces. "WHERE IS MEGAMAN! ? I KNOW HE'S HERE! ! I CAN SMELL HIM! ! I, MATTREX, A REPLIFORCE, WILL HUNT HIM DOWN FOR REVENGE! !" he roared in the air with a flamethrower, igniting clusters of flames on his back and tail.
(Mattrex was from Megaman X5.)
The crowd screamed in fright and quickly fled their way to the exit.
"Misaki, let's get out of here!" Tendou grabbed her left wrist and bolted to the exit.
"Erika, let's go!" Draco carried her in a bridal style and dashed to the exit.
"Draco, you don't have to carry me!" Erika pointed.
As the crowd left the arena, the Maid Latte staffs and the Stelar family were waiting at the exit until the remaining four arrived. Soon, they four made it as Draco placed Erika on the sand.
"Why is there a monster here! ?" the curly auburn-haired questioned.
"Don't know! For some reason, they can track Megaman by smelling his scent!" Misaki answered her friend, "I hope I don't have his scent anymore." she pleaded thoughtfully.
A loud boom was heard near them as Mattrex bashed through the audience seat, crumbling it down to the sand.
"RRRRAAAAWWWWWHHHH! ! COME OUT HERE AND FIGHT, MEGAMAN! !"
"Grrrr! This monster has to be the toughest one! How can Megaman beat that?" Misaki assumed, shaking her right fist in anger. Then, she noticed Tendou was missing. "Huh? Where's Tendou?" she asked, looking around.
The Stelar family stammered and tried to think of something to cover up their son's secret identity.
"Tendou? Uhh, he went to the bathroom!" Geo answered quickly.
"Yeah, that's right! He was sweaty at the beach volleyball tournament!" Sonia followed.
"It's true. The boy needs to cool off." Hope added nervously.
"When you gotta go, you gotta go!" Kelvin finished.
Misaki eyed at Tendou's family and found them a bit suspicious. "Are they hiding something from me?" she questioned thoughtfully.
Tendou ran his way to the forest and stopped, "Phew. I managed to slip away." he lifted the right sleeve of his dark blue shorts and removed his Hunter-VG off his thigh. He placed it at the center of his waist as it shot out silver belt strap around him, then paused with a confused look. "Wait a minute... that Repliforce dinosaur said he can smell me?" he questioned, wondering what made them track his scent. He sniffed his sweaty left armpit, then the right. "I don't think it's my armpits." he noted blankly before calling out, "Henshin!" his body was consumed by a ball of light and transformed into his Megaman form. Once his transformation was finished, his dark blue armor released a coolant steam. "Oooohh man! Cooling system, thank you for the cold air!" he exclaimed happily, feeling refreshed before leaping in the air.
Mattrex smacked the volleyball stand to the sand and roared, "COME ON OUT, MEGAMAN! ! I AM NOT A PATIENT TYPE! !"
Suddenly, multiple bullets rained down from above and hit the burning mechanical tyrannosaurus, who quickly blocked them with his right arm.
Megaman (Tendou) landed with his armed-Gatlings and reverted them back to his arms.
His armors were dark blue. He had wings of Cygnus Noise form. His helmet had no spiky hair. His lens was red, and a silver mask below it. His streamlines were green.
"Megaman's here!" Misaki brightened a smile at the hero.
"AAAAAAAAHHHHHH! ! MEGAMAN! !" The Maid Latte girls screamed in excitement.
"Wow! When did Tendou become this popular?" Geo questioned inwardly in surprise.
"So you're finally here, Megaman!" Mattrex growled and inspected his appearance in confusion. "Wait a minute, you didn't have wings back then. Are you sure you're Megaman?"
"Hey, it's not cool to judge a hero by their-"
"Fureimu Bonbaa (Flame Bomber)!" Mattrex spat out several fireballs at him.
"Whoa!" Megaman (Tendou) quickly avoided them by doing barrel roll thrice, "HEY, I WASN'T DONE TALKING! !" he barked.
"Talk is cheap! Revenge comes first!" Mattrex retorted and ignited himself with an intense flame, "Baaningu Takkuru (Burning Tackle)" he charged at him with a loud roar.
"Batoru Kaado Konbo (Battle Card Combo)! BigguDoroppu (BigDrop)! SutoonKyuubu (StoneCube)! ...BigguSutoon (BigStone)!" The dark blue armored Megaman immediately called out his combo and summoned a heavy stone in front of him.
Mattrex tackled the stone and bashed his way through with a monstrous strength, scattering it into tiny pieces with loud cracking sounds. He finally made it through with a roar and widened his eyes at his enemy with a large blue fist on his right hand.
"Furoozan Nakkuru (Frozen Knuckle)!" Megaman (Tendou) fiercely punched the mechanical tyrannosaurus's face and knocked him in the air.
"AAAAAAAAHHHHH! !" Mattrex cried as a small ice formed on his face. He landed on the sand with a soft thud, then the ice melted slowly.
As the blue fist vanished, Megaman (Tendou) extracted red blades on both his forearms and approached the fallen enemy. The mechanical tyrannosaurus groaned and slowly grabbed some sand on his right hand. Hearing the dark blue armored Megaman walking closer, he quickly turned and threw sand at the latter's face.
"Hey, that was a dirty trick!" Misaki shouted in anger. However, the sand hit the face of his helmet as it dropped down. "Oh, I forgot his helmet protects his face." she noted quietly in embarrassment as Hope placed her hands on the teenage girl's shoulder, soothing her.
Failing to hit his eyes, the dark blue armored Megaman retracted both red blades back to his forearms and shook his head in disbelief. "Oh, yeah, like that's gonna work. Going back to the classic playing dirty strategy! Hello, I have a helmet!" he proved sarcastically, pointing at himself. "Seriously, no one uses the throwing-sand-on-your-enemy's-eyes anymore because that's just-" he was cut off by Mattrex, who tripped his enemy to the sand by sweeping his tail, "Okay, I didn't see that coming."
"Now that was a dirty trick!" Nagisa claimed.
Mattrex stood up and walked forward to his fallen enemy. "I'm gonna chomp you up!" he grabbed the latter with tight grips and brought him close before opening his jaws, revealing his sharp teeth.
"MEGAMAN! !" Misaki shouted, wanting to stop the mechanical tyrannosaurus, but Geo and Sonia quickly caught her.
"Misaki, don't! It's dangerous!" Sonia warned her.
"But that monster will eat him!"
"Don't worry, Misaki! Have faith in him!" Geo retorted.
"RRRRAAAAAWWWWWHHHH! !" Mattrex planted a hard bite on his enemy's left shoulder with a loud clang. On cue, his own teeth shattered and immediately removed his grips, backing away in pain. "OOOOOOOWWWWWW! ! MY TEETH! ! WHAT THE HELL IS WITH YOUR ARMOR! ? WHAT KIND OF A MEGAMAN ARE YOU! ?" he demanded.
"Whoa!" was all Misaki could say, and finally calmed down. She didn't expect his armor would be that sturdy.
Megaman (Tendou) quickly grabbed a volleyball stand and fiercely swung the object at the mechanical tyrannosaurus's face with a loud smack, breaking it in half.
"GAAAAHHHH! !" Mattrex shook his head from the small impact and glared at his enemy with a growl. He made a quick turn and swung his tail, smacking him away.
Dropping the broken volleyball stand, the dark blue armored Megaman made a reflex and landed on the sand before forming his fighting stance.
Mattrex let out a loud roar and ignited flames on his back and tail. "Fureimu Bonbaa (Flame Bomber)!" he spat out several fireballs at him.
Megaman (Tendou) raised both arms in a defensive stance and formed two blue hexagon-shaped energy shields on his forearms. His armed-shields blocked the fireballs and withstood several hits.
"Ugh! Don't know how long I can keep this up!"
The burning mechanical tyrannosaurus spat out a few more before charging at him. "Baaningu Takkuru (Burning Tackle)" he successfully rammed into his enemy.
"Gaaaaahhhh!" Megaman (Tendou) crashed on the sand, sliding backward a little.
Mattrex wanted to finish this quick and opened his mouth, igniting flames on both his back and tail again. "Gurando Faia (Ground Fire)!" he breathed out several fireballs at him.
The dark blue armored Megaman stood up slowly as the fireballs made their hit with explosions around him. "Aaaahhh!" The ball of fire scattered and set the sand ablaze. "Aaaaahhhh!" With more hits and explosions, Megaman (Tendou) was surrounded by a wildfire and stumbled from the enemy's attacks.
"RRAAAAAWWWWWHHHHH! ! HAHAHAHA! ! BURN TO HELL, MEGAMAN! !" Mattrex exclaimed triumphantly.
"Megaman... " Misaki gasped at the sight.
Nagisa and the Maid Latte girls couldn't believe their own eyes, seeing their hero was defeated by a mechanical dinosaur monster. Suddenly, their eyes widened at the wildfire.
The sea of fire began to turn into a ball and spun in a rotation, then formed a tyrannosaurus's head with a roar.
"Wait, that's not my fire." Mattrex noted in confusion at the sight.
"Wh-What's going on?" Honoka asked in confusion.
"What's happening to Megaman?" Erika followed.
"Is Megaman all right?" Subaru added with a worried look.
TORAIBU ON (TRIBE ON)!
BUREIJINGU SAURIAN (BLAZING SAURIAN)!
The ball of fire vanished as Megaman (Tendou) was on his knees in dark red armor. He slowly stood up and revealed his transformation that resembled a dinosaur. His armor was based on Fire Saurian - except with a darker color, bulky armor, orange streamlines, a black mask below the red lens, and no spiky hair on the back of his helmet. His shoulder guards were replaced with Omega-Xis Saurian's heads. His forearms had three claws.
"Whoa! Now that is hot!" Nagisa exclaimed.
"AAAAAAAAHHHHH! ! MEGAMAN! ! GANBATTE! !" The Maid Latte girls cheered happily.
"What's going on?" Misaki stared at the hero in confusion, "Just how many transformations does Megaman have?" she questioned and felt a hand on her left shoulder as she turned to Tendou's father.
"That's because this Megaman inherited the original Megaman's power, and he recreated them as his own." Geo answered the black-haired girl.
"He inherited that many?" she asked again, feeling speechless, as the latter nodded.
"Not all of them." Draco noted.
"Huh? What do you mean, Draco?" Misaki asked the cosplayer.
"Some of Megaman's powers were given a while back. Others... well, to be frank, he stole some from the enemies and claimed them for himself." Draco explained.
"WH-WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU! ?" Mattrex questioned, taking a few steps back.
Blazing Saurian Megaman (Tendou) lifted his head slowly and formed his fighting stance. "Time to bring the heat." he flitted forward at a quick speed and swung his right forearmed-claws at the mechanical tyrannosaurus's torso, earning a large slash.
"AAAAAARRRRGHHH! !" Mattrex cried in agony.
Blazing Saurian Megaman (Tendou) upwardly swung his left and cut off the latter's right arm.
"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH! !" Mattrex stumbled and held his right shoulder in pain as his sliced right arm exploded in the air.
Blazing Saurian Megaman (Tendou) ignited intense flames on both arms. "Baaningu Nakkuru (Burning Knuckle)!" he gave the mechanical tyrannosaurus a right hook on the torso with a ferocious punch.
"AAARRGHH!"
Next, it was the left hook.
"GAAAAAHHHH! !"
Then, a fierce right uppercut on his chin.
"AAAAAAHHHHH! !" Mattrex flew backward in the air and landed on the sand with a thud.
Blazing Saurian Megaman (Tendou) jumped forward with his fiery arms in the air and slammed them on the mechanical tyrannosaurus's back.
"AAAAARRRGGGGGHHHH! !" Mattrex cried, pinning on the sand from the heavy impact.
Taking the flame out on his arms, Blazing Saurian Megaman (Tendou) leaped back as the Omega-Xis Saurian heads ejected from his shoulders and attached on his arms. He opened the mouths and charged an orange-red energy, preparing to finish him off.
RINKU FOOSU BIGGU BAN (LINK FORCE BIG BANG)!
JURASHIKKU KYANON (JURASSIC CANNON)!
He released two large beams of fire and collided on the mechanical tyrannosaurus.
"NOOOOOOOOOO! ! THIS... IS... NOT... POSSIBLE! ! AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH! ! !" Unable to retaliate, Mattrex fell backward to the sand as his body enormously exploded in defeat.
*BOOM! !* *KA-BOOM! !*
Blazing Saurian Megaman (Tendou) lowered his arms as the two Saurian's heads automatically detached from his arms, returning back to his shoulder guards. Suddenly, he heard loud cheers nearby. He turned and saw the Maid Latte girls running towards him.
"What the?" he gaped, seeing lovestruck expressions on their faces.
"MEGAMAN, LET ME HUG YOU! !" Honoka pleaded with her spread arms.
"MEGAMAN, LET ME GIVE YOU A KISS! !" Erika followed.
"MEGAMAN, TAKE ME TO YOUR ARMS! !" Subaru added.
"MEGAMAN, LET'S HAVE A GROUP PHOTO! !" Satsuki continued with a camera in her right hand.
"I'm outta here!" Blazing Saurian Megaman (Tendou) quickly turned and leaped in the air.
"MEGAMAN, COME BACK! !" they pleaded loudly in disappointment.
"*sigh* Geo, can I ask you something? How popular is Megaman?" Misaki deadpanned.
"Well~ that depends on his reputation." Geo answered simply. "Tendou, you are one lucky son of a gun."
After the battle with Mattrex, the beach volleyball tournament was sadly cancelled, and no one won the title of the Beach Prince and Princess. Erika was disappointed to hear that, but was happy to see Megaman again.
That night
Tendou stood on the sand with both hands in his pockets and let the cool wind flow; he watched the wave hit the shore back and forth repeatedly. He was in deep thought until a voice interrupted him.
"Tendou?"
The spiky brown-haired turned to see Misaki approaching him. She was back in her pink shirt and black shorts.
"What's up?" he spoke.
"I wanted to check up on you." Misaki replied.
"Can I ask you something, Misaki?" the spiky brown-haired asked.
"Sure."
"Did you have fun? Your first summer trip that is."
The black-haired girl responded with a smile. "To be honest with you, Tendou... I had fun, and it was a nice trip. I wish it was like this every summer. I'm also glad to see your family and get to know them. They sure are nice people."
"Well, this is also my first summer trip, too. We've never had one before until the manager invited me here. When I brought it up to my family, and they really wanted to have one together. Hehehe. I'm gonna be straight. I actually had fun, too." he admitted with a nervous smile.
Misaki was glad to hear that. She finally remembered the reason why she was here.
"Tendou, back at the tournament, you seemed like a different person when you and Draco were going at each other. It's almost like... you were... Megaman."
Tendou lowered his eyes and sighed, "That's because I happened to overhear some guys wanting to get their filthy hands on you when you become the Beach Princess and take pictures of you for their vulgar reason. Men like that make sick." he told her with a frown. "And I don't want that to happen... to you." he finished shyly.
Gasping, Misaki widened her eyes from his explanation. "Then, is that why you went wild back there?" she asked.
Tendou chuckled nervously and walked closer to her. "Yeah... I thought I might make them lose interested by going all-out with Draco, but I didn't expect that dinosaur monster to show up." he rubbed the back of his neck.
Misaki didn't expect him to defend her that much. She remembered he protected her from the three upperclassmen that nearly violated her that day, and from Tora at Miyabigaoka High. Somehow, she was touched by his thoughtfulness.
She smiled at him, seeing he was the first kind guy she had ever known.
The two went silent and stared at each other for a moment. Tendou was the first to make a move and reached out his right hand to her left cheek, caressing it. Misaki suddenly felt this strange feeling again. She blushed from the warm contact and held his right hand with her left, not believing this was real. The two slowly moved forward and closed their eyes until they were inches apart.
"Hey, you two! We're ready for a-Oh!" a certain purple-ish pink-haired mother froze at the unexpected sight.
Tendou and Misaki turned and saw Sonia standing near them. They quickly backed away with red blushes on their faces, avoiding eye contact.
"Was I interrupting you two?" the purple-ish pink haired mother asked as the two continued to stay silent, then figured out the atmosphere. She held out her hands in defense with a smile. "Don't mind me. Please continue." she gestured sweetly.
"That's impossible, Kaa-san!" Tendou retorted.
Sighing sadly, Sonia couldn't believe her son's first summer romance failed. "As I was saying~ We'll going to have a group photo." she informed, "Let's get going, you two lovebirds!"
"Kaa-san." Tendou groaned in embarrassment as the three walked back to the Beach House.
Misaki stayed silent and couldn't believe that almost happened. Ever since they shared their first accidental kiss and he blurted out when fighting Tora, she finally figured out why she had that strange feeling towards him.
She was in love with him.
And not just Tendou, but... Megaman as well.
However, she couldn't decide between the two.
Honoka was watching them from the Beach House with a pair of binoculars in her hands.
"So how did the two go?" Subaru asked her blonde friend.
The blonde woman placed the binoculars down with a disappointed sigh, "A failure. Sonia interrupted the best part."
"No way! How could she do that?" Erika questioned in disbelief.
"She didn't know her son and Misaki were about to kiss." Honoka answered sadly, "And they were this close."
Fireworks appeared at the sky with many different colors.
Everyone gathered up in front of the Beach House as Satsuki set the timer on the camera. The Stelar family linked each others' arms and smiled. Draco just stood there in a butler pose. Satsuki and Nagisa waved at the camera. Honoka cutely formed a peace sign. Erika had her arms behind her neck. Subaru adjusted her glasses with a smile. Tendou and Misaki stood next to each other with a shy glance and a small smile.
Back at Maid Latte
The Moron Trio sat at the closed café with desperate looks on their faces and scanned the road side-to-side. Unfortunately, they didn't realize summer vacation was close to an end.
"Misa-chan's not back yet! ?" Ryuunosuke asked sadly.
"No way, I don't want to believe it!" Sarashina followed.
"That our summer is going to end just like this!" Shirokawa refused to accept it with tears falling on his eyes.
"MISA-CHAN, COME BACK! !" they pleaded loudly to the sky.
Late night
Everyone was already fast asleep - except for a certain spiky brown-haired.
Unable to fall asleep, Tendou stared at the ceiling, still thinking about that thought he had earlier. He got up and walked towards the window. He slid the door open and stepped out of the balcony, staring at the sea.
A ball of light came out of his Hunter-VG and made its way to the balcony before turning into Draco, standing next to the teenager.
"Draco... did I really attempt to kiss her?" Tendou asked his partner.
"Why, you certainly did. It was a nice moment." the Imagin dragon answered and noticed the teenager was quiet, "Something troubling you, Master Tendou?" he asked.
"...I'm thinking about telling Misaki the truth." the spiky-brown-haired replied softly.
"The truth?"
"My secret as Megaman."
