Chapter 2 The moment Amy knew
Amy was not the type of person to over analyze her feelings, she kind of just went with it. That's why she wasn't expecting her friend Tina Fey to ask her if she was attracted to her other friend, Rashida Jones.
Amy had asked to come over with her daughters for a playdate with her boys since they were friends. They were having a glass of wine and reminiscing over their days being regulars on SNL. They were having a good time until Tina said "Hey you can tell me the truth and I will believe it but… you have a crush on Rashida don't you?"
To say Amy was taken aback would be an understatement.
"I… what!?" Amy said "Why would you ask that?"
It was a couple of days after Amy's 45th birthday party and she had gotten very drunk and made out with Rashida but that wasn't THAT unusual. Kissing her friends as a joke while being drunk was very normal behavior for Amy. Of course, she would never admit to herself that with Rashida it felt a little… different? More real? Intimate?
"Well you are different with her. If she is in the room, you are next to her the whole time. Like you are an old married couple of something. If I'm wrong that's okay but I don't know, it just seems like you like her." Tina said after sipping on her wine. "Plus, you are always talking about how beautiful she is. And don't get me wrong she absolutely is gorgeous, but you pay a lot of attention to it"
"I guess I've never considered that before, but I get where you are coming from. She is just my best friend." As she said those words Amy was not even sure if she was saying the truth.
A couple of hours had passed, and Tina and the girls had left her house. Her kids were asleep, and she was laying on her bed by herself thinking.
She decided that it was time to let herself consider her own feelings since she normally would try to push them aside until she forgot she needed to feel them.
"Okay, what do I feel for Rashida?" She thought to herself as she closed her eyes "She is the most beautiful and smartest woman that I know. When I'm with her I feel supported and loved. She has always been there for me no matter what. When I'm next to her I feel like the rest of the world disappears and I just want to listen to her voice." Amy's eyes opened suddenly "fuck maybe Tina was right"
