Chapter Ten

Rodolphus looked conflicted, just like Bella did.

"I can't promise Mother and Father will take this well, but I think Regulus will be good for you" He finishes with a small smile at his brother and Rastaban pulls him into a big hug.

Bella came back with an annoyed look on her face.

"Lucius couldn't you have at least warned me before leaving me to put up with her" She laughed but I could tell she was still annoyed.

"I didn't think my parents would actually let me out of the betrothal." His voice holds wonderment that they really did.

I can tell that they were all shocked that his parents did.

"I can't blame you Lucius, I couldn't imagine having to marry Narcissa" Rodolphus made a face and Severus let out a laugh.

"I'm glad I got you Bella" Rodolphus said to Bella as she leaned her head on his shoulder.

Both of their eyes told me they were deeply in love.

Come to think of it I always used to hear the only person Bellatrix loved was The Dark Lord, but as I'm sitting here, I can tell that's not true.

"So, what did I miss?" She asks me and Severus get back to studying.

Regulus fills him in on the news of him and Rastaban, she beams and congratulates him on being in love.

Now that I think about it, this is another similarity between Regulus and Sirius.

Both fell in love with their best friends at Hogwarts.

As I glanced up from my book, I see James, Sirius, Remus and Lily waving me over.

I tell the group I'll be back, and I can see jealously in Lucius's eyes.

I kiss his cheek softly and hurry towards the Marauders and Lily.

"Hey guys, what's up?" I ask them brightly as I embrace each of them.

In the time I 've been here I've gotten quite close to these four during our time in Gryffindor Tower.

Since me and Lily share a dorm, I've gotten to know her and Alice Longbottom, well now she was Alice Prewett.

The Marauders on the other hand made it their business to make sure I was doing alright in classes and that no one was giving me a hard time.

Getting to know these people was amazing, Lily is so much like Harry, and James has his quidditch attitude.

I always feel a pang of sadness when I look at Lily's eyes.

I wonder if Harry misses me?

"Just making sure you're doing alright Hermione" James tells me while ruffling his hair.

I giggle while he does it and he shot me a teasing smile.

"Thanks guy, I'm actually doing really well." I see Lily and Remus share a knowing look.

They know about my feelings for Lucius, to my surprise they accepted it.

"I see you've gotten quite close to that lot" Sirius started in an offhand voice.

"Yeah, they're quite lovely." I tell Sirius, hoping he and James accept this.

"Are you and Malfoy seeing each other now?" James tries to copy the voice Sirius used.

They're not fooling me.

"Yes, Lucius asked me out and I accepted, he's a really good guy once you get to know him" I hope they hear sincerity in my voice.

I also hope I can persuade Lily to become friends with Severus again.

She's admitted to me that she does miss him.

"As long as their treating you well" To my surprise this was Sirius speaking.

Sirius who hated everything to do with Slytherin and Blood purity was accepting my relationship with a Slytherin.

Lucius Malfoy, the freaking Slytherin Prince for Merlin's sake.

I was touched at this.

"But we're not going easy on them in quidditch just because he's your boyfriend." James says in a joking voice and I know everything is going to be okay.

"But you know if he does hurt you Hermione, we'll take care of him" Remus said as a rakish grin flitted across his face.

"I understand guys, thank you for being so accepting of my relationship." My eyes started to tear up and Lily put her arm around my shoulder.

"We told you already Hermione, we're the big brothers you never had" James stuck his tongue out at me, and we all burst into fits of laughter.

"Hey, Lily you should come hang out with me and Bella in the library tonight." That idea just occurred to me.

I'm sure Bella wouldn't mind; I mean the first time we met she said I could bring a Gryffindor.

"Do you think she'd mind?" I can hear a hint of uncertainty in her voice and I give her an encouraging smile.

"Trust me, I think you two will get along perfectly." I hope she agrees.

"Alright then, what time?" She flashes me a big smile and I feel myself get excited at the prospect of uniting these people together.

"After the feast, does that sound alright?"

"Sounds good Hermione" I see a flash of hope in her eyes and I can tell she's nervous.

"I can invite the guys along if you three would like to come as well?" As I say this I realize they probably won't.

Just because they accept my relationship does not mean they'll be all friendly.

I see Lily pleading with her eyes at James to say yes.

It's Sirius though who looks like he'd give anything to say yes.

Remus notices this as well.

"Alright, that sounds fun" Sirius replies as Remus squeezes his shoulder in an encouraging motion.

His tone wistful.

"I'll come as well, can Peter come as well?" I had almost forgot about him till James brought him up.

"If he wants, I guess" I say in an off-hand voice hoping he doesn't want to.

"Great, we'll go tell him." I hug them goodbye and make my way back to the Slytherin group.

I settle myself back in Lucius's arms and begin to tell them about tonight.

As I expected Severus perked up almost immediately and said he'll come.

I noticed a flash of hatred as well though, since the Marauders would be there as well.

Rabastan and Regulus said they will as well.

I noted that Regulus had the same look in his grey eyes as Sirius did.

A look of hope, of reconnecting with each other.

Bella looked doubtful at this being a peaceful interaction but, in the end, Rodolphus convinced her to accept.

I had to persuade Lucius the most.

But he soon agreed when I gave him a puppy dog look.

He kissed me and swore I'd be the death of him.

A memory flashed by in my head, him Narcissa and Draco leaving the Battle of Hogwarts.

Narcissa lying to the most fearsome Dark Lord to save Harry.

Draco throwing his wand to Harry, leaving himself defenseless.

Lucius trying to keep his son alive.

No matter what happens while I'm in the past, I owe my best friends' life to Narcissa Malfoy.

That was a hard thought to think.

My mind starts whirring, if Lucius broke off his contract with Narcissa because of me in this new version of the past, do they get married?

How different will the future be if I was the next Lady Malfoy?

Would Voldemort win or could I keep my new friends all alive and on the side of good.

"You alright Hermione?" Severus asks me, I quickly say I'm just thinking, and he goes back to studying.

He gave his life to save the Wizarding world.

To save Harry.

He always accused of still being Voldemort's right hand.

Hated wherever he went.

And with that thought still lingering in my head I head into the Great Hall for dinner.

Preparing myself mentally for whats coming after dinner.
