The Secret Marriage
Chapter 3
When I told Dad what had happened, I half expected him to go mad at me. If I am honest I don't think that Dad was happy about Virgil getting married. He did come around to the idea of course but still. I know that Virgil was the first to get married and I wanted the same happiness that he had.
I knew when I got the phone call from the hospital that things were going to go from bad to worse. I always knew no matter what happened that Virgil and his wife would both be there to support me. Dad wants to come over but in order for that to happen Virgil would need to go over to the island to help keep an eye there. With three of us off the island that would only leave Gordon and Alan to take care of rescues. Don't get me wrong I know that Virgil has a brain in there somewhere and he will use it. It's the first time that Dad and I have left the island together.
Just then I see Virgil putting suitcases into the car. It got me that if Virgil can look after both Robyn and Jo plus go into the office then he could manage the island for a few days.
"Hey Scott, we have made our minds up and we decided to go over to the island. Jo is right, it is her last chance to get over until the twins are born."
"I thought Jo had an appointment to go to?" I asked my brother.
"She does, so we are heading off afterwards. Once we get to the island Dad will be over to support you. Look Scott, are you sure you don't mind popping into the office for me?"
"No problem, Virgil, is there anything that you need me to do?" Scott wanted to do the job correctly.
"Not that I can think of Scott just a bit of paperwork to do but the meetings are all up to date. It's just calling in and checking that everything is running okay really."
"Thanks Virgil." I said to my brother as both Jo and Robyn came out to the car.
"I am so glad that you are going over to the island, make the most of it Jo. These babies will be here in no time." I said to my sister in law while putting my hand on her small bump. She smiled at me before hugging me tight.
"Are you not saying goodbye to me Uncle Scott?" Robyn pouted as she crossed her arms.
"Sorry sweetie pie blame your Daddy for that. Well I hope you have jokes to pull on Uncle Gordon. You can tell me all about them next time you see me. Why don't you be a good girl and go and get into the car. I need to chat to your parents a sec." After a hug and a kiss she bounced off towards the car. Before she got in she turned back and waved.
"I will Uncle Scott. Love you."
