The Secret Marriage
chapter 4
Whilst Robyn was getting settled into the car, I wanted to have a quick word with my brother and his wife before they left for the island.. I don't think that I could face bringing up my new born daughter on my own. I know that my whole family will be there for me, but I feel so alone now.
"Scott, are you really sure that you are going to be okay? I don't want to leave you the way you are at the moment."
"I will be fine, Virgil, you and Jo get yourselves off to the island and enjoy the break."
As I spoke to Virgil, Jo came out the door talking on her phone. It looked as if she was up to something, but I couldn't make out what it was, or who she was talking to.
"Okay thanks for that Penny, yeah Scott isn't moving from here anytime soon." said Jo as she got into the car.
"Hey Virg, what is that wife of yours up to? Because I know that she is up to something."
"Don't ask me, I am married to her, but she does take after her mother there, Scott. Okay, Scott, don't go mad when I tell you this, but Jo thought it would be a good idea to phone Penny and get her down to keep you company. What about Leeanne, Scott? Do you want us to take her with us?"
"I don't, Virgil. If you take her, then its going to look like I am not interested in my new born. Rebecca wouldn't want that. So I will keep her here with me, and Dad can give me a hand when he arrives."
"That's fine, Scott, you know where we are if you need to talk. We are only a phone call away, you are not going through this alone. We wouldn't let you." said Virgil.
"I know you wouldn't, Virgil, I just wish this didn't happen to me. Once we had celebrated our first anniversary, I was going to come out and tell everyone that I was married. Thank you so much for keeping this to yourselves. I know that it was hard for you both, so again thank you."
"Scott you don't have to thank us, I will always have your back, no matter what happens to you."
"Thanks Virgil, well you better get a move on, so that Jo can get to her next appointment."
"If I am honest, Scott, I am a bit nervous about this, I just don't know how I am going to react when I first see the scan."
"You have had a second chance with Jo, then one with Robyn, plus now this. Not many people would stick with you with the line of work we do. Jo is one in a million and she loves you. Now get in that car and get moving."
"Oh, by the way, Jo phoned Penny because we didn't want to leave you on your own here."
"Tell Jo thanks from me."
"I will, Scott, and you will be fine, take it from me, Fatherhood isn't all that scary. You will be fine. Well I better go now, we will call you once we are on the island."
