The Secret Marriage
Chapter 12
(In Scott's point a view)
It had been a couple of hours since I went to see Rebecca's parents, I know how hard it was for them to say goodbye to their daughter. After they went, I made my way in there to say goodbye myself. On the way back to our family apartment so I walked in and I saw Dad on the phone. LeAnne most be down for a nap. As soon as Dad came off the phone, I walked into the living room.
"Hey Dad is everything okay?"
"Yeah, I was just on the phone to Virgil to check that the island was still standing. Did everything go okay at the hospital?"
"Everything went fine Dad but I need to make a decision here about LeAnne, I don't think that I could bring her up as a single Dad. I can't do this."
"Scott you have your whole family behind you here, you aren't on your own here. What are you trying to say?"
"That maybe LeAnne is better off with her grandparents over here, I won't be able to cope with this father thing. Dad I am a complete wreck here and I don't know what to do. Would LeAnne have a better life away from me? I really don't want to run away from this Dad."
"You know whatever happens or what you decide that we will support you as a family. Scott if you decide to give your baby to her grandparents then we aren't going to judge you, so long as you are happy. Why don't we call Virgil in on this because he has been there with you since this nightmare had happened?"
"Why not Dad"
"Okay Jeff Tracy calling Virgil Tracy come in son."
"Hey Dad is anything wrong?"
"No Virg, I just need your advice about LeAnne because I don't think that I could bring her up on my own. I told Dad that maybe handing her over to her grandparents. I know it sounds as if I am running away from being a father but I don't feel that I could do it right now." I said while Virgil was on the line.
"Scott you just can't give LeAnne up like that, we told you that we would be there to help you. You aren't on your own here and never have been"
"I'm sorry I don't think that could do this right now, if I hand her over to her grandparents then maybe in the future, I might be able to look after her now."
"It's okay Scott we are still here for you no matter what you decide. Dad do the others know about Scott?"
"Yes, Virgil the others do know but not the whole story, but you are welcome to explain it to them while we are here. Try not to worry about Scott I have him."
"Okay Dad and Scott no matter what you decide then we will still be behind you a 100%. If you feel that way then there is nothing that we can do just do what is right for you and your little girl." Said Virgil before he went off the line, this is going to be a tough job for Virgil because he has never broken any news good or bad. He always left that to me to do. So, while Dad went to get himself a coffee I decided to go up and get LeAnne ready, I made my decision that I was going to call Rebecca's parents and hand LeAnne over to them. My heart is going to break when I do this but I felt it was the right thing to do for now. So, I made the phone call, it didn't take them long to pick up and I told them that we would meet them in a coffee shop.
So, Dad came with me to hand LeAnne over, we had met Rebecca's parents and I handed my daughter over to them. I gave them my number in hope that they will keep in touch. I had offered to send them some money over once a month so I felt that I was doing something. A couple of hours later we were heading to the airport to get back to the island. I don't know where I would have been if it wasn't for Virgil and Jo plus now that Dad knew I felt a lot better in myself, I am hoping that the others won't have a lot of questions but I am trusting in Virgil to explain everything to them.
