Jirachi Wish Maker
A comet known as the millennium comet is seen for seven nights once every thousand years, and it was nearly time for the millennium comet to appear. Legend has it that this comet had a magnificent power to make any wish come true, and one man was eager to use the power of the millennium comet to make a wish of his come true. This man's wish had something to do with Groudon, the legendary pokemon, and he had a strong desire to make this wish come true. He was now in a cave, at a valley called Forina, with a woman by his side and he had found something that looked like a big crystal, in the shape of a cocoon. Whatever this man's wish was; it was something that couldn't possibly be good.
One night Ash and his friends had come to an area, where a carnival called the millennium festival was going to be held. The millennium carnival was an event to celebrate the millennium comet, which was tomorrow night. But the carnival was nowhere in sight. "This is the right area," said Brock "but it seems that the carnival isn't here yet". Since it was already very late, the gang decided to have some dinner and get some sleep, and look for the carnival in the morning. The gang were excited about both the millennium comet and the millennium festival.
While it was still the middle of the night, the gang got woken up by the sound of lorries. The carnival crew had finally shown up and they began to put the carnival together. Ash and the gang watched as all the rides for the carnival were being put into place. There were bumper cars, a big ferris wheel, a merry go round, a roller coaster and some other rides. There were even stalls that were to sell candy, toys and other things being set up. Just then one last lorry and a caravan turned up. A purple haired man came out of the lorry and a blond haired woman came out of the caravan. This man and woman were the same ones who found the cocoon shaped crystal. The man magically made a long stick appear from his hand and then made big balloons appear out of a trunk; he was a magician. The woman helped the man place the big balloons into place with two fans; she was his assistant. When the balloons were placed into a circle they popped, revealing some wooden boxes, and then like magic a big tent was created. The gang was fascinated by that and it made them more excited for the carnival to open.
Next day it was the first day of the millennium festival, and also the first day that the comet would appear tonight. The gang spent the day riding on the carnival rides, eating food and other things. Max noticed a leaflet that had a picture of the man they saw last night. Ash suggested that they go and see the magician's show and the others agreed. The magic show turned out to be more magnificent than the gang thought. The magician first made a flock of Swablu appear out of his hat, and then magically made a Kirlia come out of the hat. He had two pokemon assistants with him on stage; Kirlia and Mightyena. The man had Kirlia in a box, covered the box with a red cloth and then he set the box and cloth on fire. The fire disappeared into smoke, and when the smoke vanished his assistant appeared and she was carrying the big crystal cocoon. The woman lifted the crystal cocoon up to the lights and the lights reflected off the crystal cocoon and lights shone on the whole audience. "Thank you everyone," said the man "I am known as Butler and my assistant is Diane".
It was at that moment that Max heard a voice saying 'wishing' and 'the comet'. Max noticed that no one else heard the voice by him. He thought he just imagined it, but then he heard the voice again saying 'I wish you were here with me'. Max realised that the voice was coming from the crystal cocoon and he got out of his seat and ran towards the stage. Ash got out of his seat too to stop Max. Max ran onto the stage towards Diane. "Excuse me, but you have to get back to your seat" said Diane. "Sorry, but I think I heard a voice from that crystal" said Max. Butler and Diane were surprised to hear that. Just then Ash ran onto the stage, apologized to Butler and Diane and told Max that he shouldn't just run onto the stage like that.
Butler announced that Ash and Max were to be their assistants for their next trick. 'The burning box' trick. Butler explained that Ash, Pikachu, and Max were to sit in a box, and then they had to escape from the box before it gets blown up by a hyper beam attack. Ah and Max weren't so sure about this because they weren't magicians, but Butler's two clown assistants led them into the box at once. Once Ash, Pikachu and Max were in the box and the box closed, Butler called forth his third pokemon assistant; a Dusclops, a ghost pokemon. "In ten seconds Dusclops will fire a hyper beam attack at the box that Ash and Max are in" said Butler. May felt jealous because Ash and Max were part of the show and not her; she wanted to be part of the show too. Butler started the countdown from ten and Dusclops got ready to fire hyper beam at the box. This was nerve-wrecking for the audience and Ash, Pikachu and Max. Just as Butler said the number one Ash, Pikachu and Max fell through a trap door on the stage, and then Dusclops attacked the box with hyper beam. Ash, Pikachu and Max were transported by a railed chair from under the stage to all the way to the top of the audience seats. Bouquets of flowers were also flung to the audience as a special surprise. "Everyone, please give a huge round of applause to Ash, Pikachu and Max" said Butler. Ash, Pikachu and Max went back to the stage and got lots of claps and cheers from the audience. Max couldn't stop staring at the cocoon; he felt for sure that he heard a voice from it.
The two clown assistants were taking care not to be noticed by Ash and Max. The clowns were actually Jessie and James in disguise as clowns; they had come to the festival to earn extra money from working as clowns. "We mustn't let the twerps realise who we are", whispered Jessie "we went through a lot of difficulty for this job and I don't want us to lose our earnings". So Jessie, James and Meowth agreed to stay quiet, and they quietly left the stage before anything happened.
When the show was over, Butler explained to the gang that the crystal cocoon was where the legendary pokemon Jirachi was sleeping in. "Jirachi is a special pokemon that only awakens for seven days once every thousand years. For Jirachi to wake up it requires two things; the millennium comet and a friend". "Then that must mean it wants to be Max's friend," said Ash "which would explain he heard voices from the cocoon and none of us did". Butler handed the crystal cocoon to Max and Max beamed that the pokemon, Jirachi, wanted to be his friend. Ash looked at Butler; something about Butler made him feel uncomfortable.
The gang spent the rest of the evening looking at the stalls of the carnival. May notices some sort of necklace charm on one of the stalls and took a good look at it. The stallholder explained that it was a wishing star charm. He also explained that once every night with the millennium comet, May had to fold down one of the seven sections and make a wish, and if she did it for all seven nights her wish may come true. "You only get one wish so you must choose it wisely". May bought it at once. Just then fireworks started going off; it wasn't long now until the millennium comet would first appear.
That night, the gang stayed up late to watch the millennium comet. Problem was that it was a cloudy night. "I hope the wind will pick up and blow the clouds away," said Tomo "I don't want to miss the comet tonight". As luck would have it a gust of wind perked up and the clouds were blown away, and there hidden by some clouds was the millennium comet. It was a magnificent sight; the millennium comet was white and it left a long tail behind it. The gang found it a magnificent sight and couldn't take their eyes off it. "It's great that we are seeing the comet," said Ash "especially since it comes every thousand years". "It makes me wonder what our planet looked like a thousand years ago" said Brock. May made her wish on her wishing star charm and placed the first flap down. Then she noticed that Max had fallen asleep. She started to sing something. "This is a lullaby what our mum sang to us" explained May. "That sounds nice," said Tomo "sing some more please". So May did. (This lullaby is the same one from the film)
Suddenly the crystal cocoon started to glow very bright and Max woke up. "What's happening?" asked May. Before her question could be answered, the gang heard a voice from the cocoon. It said; "the star is calling". "I think that voice was Jirachi's voice," said Brock "and it was talking in telepathy". The cocoon glowed even brighter, and then it transformed into a small yellow and white pokemon that looked like a star and it had three light green tags on its star shaped head. It was the legendary pokemon Jirachi. Max introduced himself to Jirachi and so did the others. Jirachi said hello to the gang in telepathy.
Suddenly Diane turned up and saw Jirachi. "I'll go and tell Butler that Jirachi has woken up," she said "you lot can sleep in our bus tonight". When she went back to the tent to tell Butler, Butler was sorting out some machines that had some antenna dishes. He was pleased that Jirachi had awakened. "I have been waiting a lot time for this day," he said "this will be my greatest performance". Diane looked at him in worry.
The gang got to know Jirachi while they were in Diane's bus. Ash got out his book of legendary pokemon and he saw Jirachi in it. "It says that Jirachi is a steel and psychic type pokemon," explained Ash "and it says that it has the power to grant wishes". "Wow," said May "I want to make a wish with Jirachi first". "Hold it!" shouted Max "I saw Jirachi first so I get to wish first". Max wished for a lot of snacks to eat. Jirachi's three tags glowed and then stopped glowing. It seemed that nothing happened, but then hundreds of snacks like potato chips and candy bars filled up the bus and then it burst the bus doors open. "I know I wished for snacks but this isn't really what I meant" said Max. Butler and Diane arrived to see the commotion. "These are from the snack stall from the carnival" said Diane, looking at a candy bar. She was right; a snack stall owner was panicking that all of his goods were gone. This also meant that Jirachi couldn't create an object that is desired from a wish; instead, it teleports the desired object to the person that made the wish. May was not happy with this and she told Jirachi to deal with the situation, but all Jirachi did was teleport May into the big pile of snacks. "It's a good thing I have my Kirlia with me," sighed Ash "she can teleport all this stuff back to the stall". "Yeah and we better apologize to the owner as well" said Brock. At that moment Jirachi felt tired and fell asleep in Max's arms. "Jirachi is tired from using its power," said Butler "but it will wake up again tomorrow". Max was happy to hear that, but this meant that Max only had another six days now to be with Jirachi.
Next day Jirachi woke up and was feeling recharged again. Max and Jirachi spent the whole day playing at the carnival, riding on the rides and eating snacks from the stalls etc. Ash, Tomo, May and Brock were helping out with Butler's magic show today. The assistants from yesterday had called in sick so Butler and Diane had asked the gang for help. The truth is Jessie, James and Meowth had heard about Jirachi, and they pretended to call in sick so that they could spy on Max and Jirachi; that way they could get the chance to grab Jirachi and make a wish for them-selves. So Max spent the rest of the day playing, while the others just worked in Butler's tent. Apparently Jirachi was the type of pokemon who loved to play.
Suddenly a dark blue-grey and white cat type pokemon came into the tent. "That's an Absol," said Max "a dark type pokemon". The Absol started to fire razor wind attack at Max. May sent out her Torchic to stop Absol from attacking. Torchic fired ember at Absol, but it didn't do much. Tomo had Growlithe attack next with flamethrower. 'Absol is here for me' said Jirachi, teleporting Torchic and Growlithe outside. He didn't want Absol to hurt Torchic and Growlithe. Absol turned to attack the gang, but Butler used a trap door to make Absol fall into the floor and into a cage. Butler then put Absol to sleep with using his other pokemon, a Butterfree, to use sleep powder. "Jirachi said that Absol was here for him" said Max. Jirachi was asleep now. Ash stared at Absol. 'Max is right', he thought 'Absol was desperate to get Jirachi away from here and us. Something's going on'.
Later that night, while Ash, Tomo, Brock and Max were asleep, May was outside making her wish on her charm and folding another flap down. "This is night 2 of the millennium comet" she said. This also meant another five nights to go until Jirachi went back to sleep again. Just then she noticed Butler walking out of the bus and heading back to the tent. "I wonder what Butler was doing?" she said.
What Butler had been doing was getting Jirachi from the bus into the tent, and getting his machine ready. In his hand was a glass cylinder tube and in it was a fossil shard. Diane was looking at Absol. "I think Absol was here to take Jirachi back to Forina," she said "we should never have taken Jirachi from there to begin with". Butler wasn't exactly listening to her words. "Finally after all this time my wish will finally come true," he said "and once this is all complete, I will finally pay Team Magma back for doubting me". Apparently he had a connection with the evil organization Team Magma. Diane looked at him worriedly; she didn't really like seeing Butler acting like this. Butler turned on his machine and woke Jirachi up from his sleep. "Jirachi," he said "I need you now to open your true eye and absorb the comet's power". Jirachi didn't want to, but Butler used his Dusclops to use psychic on Jirachi. That made Jirachi open up his eye that was on his tummy, and then a beam of light from the eye shot towards the millennium comet and then another beam of light from the comet went to Jirachi. Jirachi glowed once the light hit him, but then Butler's machine exploded, leaving Jirachi hurt.
At that moment, the gang turned up. Thanks to May, they realised that Jirachi was missing and they figured that Butler had him, and their guess was right. Max was not happy that Jirachi was hurt and demanded to know what was going on. "I'll take Jirachi from here" said Butler. Diane ran up to Butler and told him to stop; she had enough of what he was doing. "I've worked too hard for this moment," Butler said to Diane "don't you get it? I'm doing this for you Diane". "No you're not!" shouted Diane "I never wanted this, you're only doing this because of your anger and hate towards Team Magma". Butler couldn't believe Diane's words. Max tried to make a run for it with Jirachi, but Butler had Dusclops stop him with psychic. "Quick Pikachu hit Dusclops with thunderbolt" said Ash. Pikachu did just that and Max and Jirachi were set free from Dusclops. 'I wish to go back to Forina' said Jirachi, weakly. "Quick follow me kids" said Diane, running to the exit of the tent. The gang followed her. Absol managed to set itself free from the cage it was in and flung razor wind at Butler to distract him so it could get away.
Outside Diane and the gang were in the bus and Diane was driving it. "Jirachi said that he wants to go back to Forina" Max told everyone. "That was where Butler found him when he was still in the cocoon" said Diane. "Excuse me Diane, but what exactly happened in the tent?" asked May "and why did Butler want Jirachi so badly?" Diane explained that Butler was a scientist of Team Magma, and one day he tried to create a machine that would create a Groudon for Team Magma, from a Groudon fossil shard. Ash opened up his book of legendary pokemon and found Groudon in it. Groudon was a red coloured pokemon and it looked like a big dinosaur. "Are you saying that Team Magma wish to capture Groudon?" asked Brock. "Yes, and they won't stop at nothing to get it" said Diane. The gang understood now about what Team Magma was up to. "But what has Jirachi got to do with this?" asked Max. "Butler wishes to use the power of the millennium comet from Jirachi so that we will succeed of creating a Groudon" said Diane. "But that could hurt Jirachi" said May. "I know, but Butler is determined for his experiment to succeed" said Diane. She also explained that when Butler tried to create a Groudon for Team Magma one day, the experiment failed and he was mocked by Team Magma and kicked out at once. "So now Butler thinks of nothing but creating a Groudon to get revenge on Team Magma". "Doing that will do no good for Butler;" said Ash "that will make him just as bad as Team Magma. We saw Team Magma and Team Aqua some time ago and we already understand how bad they are". "I suggest we take Jirachi back to Forina, before Butler tries to use him again" said Tomo. Everyone agreed to that suggestion and they headed for Forina at once; Diane remembered the way there.
Over the next few days, Diane and the gang made their way to Forina. Team Rocket and Absol were both following them, and May kept on putting a flap down on her charm each night. On night 4 May had a talk with Diane about Butler. Diane told May that she and Butler had known each other ever since they were children. "When we were children, Butler would do magic tricks for me," said Diane "those were the happiest days of my life, until when Butler ended up joining Team Magma. What I wish for is for Butler and me to go back to those happy times again". May felt sorry for Diane, and hoped that her wish would come true.
Next night it was only two more nights until Jirachi went back to sleep. Max had been feeling depressed because it wasn't long until he had to say good bye to Jirachi and he didn't really want to do that. Ash could see that Max was feeling down and decided to talk to Max. They talked by a lakeside. "I can tell that you don't want Jirachi to go back into his 1000th year hibernation Max," said Ash "but Jirachi will always be with you in your memories. You see when I was still in Johto I made friends with a boy named Sam, and I had to say goodbye to him because he came from a different time period. Of course it made me sad to see Sam leave, but I still have memories of him and I'm sure that Sam still remembers me. So the thing is Max even after you say goodbye to Jirachi, Jirachi will never forget you just like you will never forget him". Max listened to Ash's words. "Thank you Ash" he said.
Soon it was day 7 and Diane and the gang finally made it to Forina. Forina was a big valley full of trees and plants, and it had hundreds of pillar shaped rock formations. Forina was also home to hundreds of wild pokemon. There were Breloom, Swablu, Altaria, Electrike, Linoone, Poochyena, Tropius, Nuzleaf, Vibrava and Flygon. "This place is great," said Ash "I like it". "Me too" said Tomo. Just then the Absol turned up and led them to the cave where Butler and Diane found Jirachi. "It's obvious," said Ash "Absol only attacked us because it wanted Jirachi to come back here to Forina". The others agreed with Ash's suggestion. As Absol lead the humans to the cave, all the wild pokemon gathered to welcome Jirachi back home.
They soon entered the cave. It was now night time and it was almost time for Jirachi to absorb the millennium comet's energy before he went back to sleep again. There was a clearing in the middle of the cave, where Jirachi could see the comet from inside the cave. The comet was now in the sky. 'The star is calling me' said Jirachi. He was just about to open up this true eye but Max grabbed him. "Jirachi, I don't want you to go," he cried "I'll never see you again after this and I wish that you can stay here with me". 'I'm sorry Max,' said Jirachi 'but I must because of the star'. Jirachi floated to the hole of the cave and stared at the comet. Diane explained to the gang that after Jirachi went back to sleep, after absorbing the comet's energy, the energy of the comet would be released into the earth while Jirachi sleeps for 1000 years. "So Forina is a wonderful place for pokemon to live in because of Jirachi".
Jirachi got ready to absorb the energy from the millennium comet. Suddenly some black-purple spikes appeared into the cave and grabbed Jirachi. It also trapped Diane and the gang into a force field. "It's Butler" said Diane. Diane was right; Butler had arrived to Forina and he had a machine ready to use Jirachi with. "Now I can finally present my special trick," said Butler "I will now make a pokemon reappear". This meant he was ready to create a Groudon. Butler pressed a few switches on his machine and placed Jirachi on his machine as well as the Groudon fossil shard. Then Jirachi shot a beam of light towards the comet and then a beam of light from the comet went to Jirachi. The energy went through Butler's machine and then the energy began to draw something on the ground.
At that time, Diane and the gang were trying to escape from the force field but not even Pikachu's electric moves helped and neither did Growlithe's fire moves. Just then the Absol came and started to destroy the spikes with razor wind and a Flygon appeared and destroyed the rest of the spikes with hyper beam. "Flygon we need your help of saving Jirachi" said Ash. He, Pikachu and Max got onto Flygon's back; there was not a moment to lose. Flygon flew to Butler's machine. Butler saw the situation and called out a Salamence from a pokeball. He flew on Salamence's back to make sure that Ash and Max didn't get in the way. "I've got an idea," said Ash "Max, you and Pikachu go and rescue Jirachi while Flygon and I distract Butler". "Okay" said Max. Flygon flew towards Butler's machine, with Salamence following it, and then Max and Pikachu jumped off Flygon to save Jirachi. Pikachu attacked the machine part, where Jirachi was and Jirachi was free. Max grabbed Jirachi and he and Pikachu went back onto Flygon. Jirachi was okay and Max was relieved to know that and so was the others. May was relieved to see that Max was all right; she had been worried about him.
Even though Ash and Max succeeded on saving Jirachi, it was too late about the design on the ground. Butler had succeeded of making a Groudon. But this Groudon wasn't an original Groudon at all; it was more of a zombie Groudon. As soon as the Zombie Groudon awakened, the plants in Forina started to wilt; the Zombie Groudon was absorbing the life and energy from the earth. Butler was watching everything from above, on Salamence, and was not happy with this. "That thing isn't Groudon," he said "that thing isn't what I wanted". He had no idea of what to do about this. The gang and Diane saw this too and they didn't like it at all.
Suddenly the Zombie Groudon released a lot of tentacles from its claws and it began grabbing the wild pokemon and trapping them inside its body. It wasn't a pleasant sight. Team Rocket, who was in their balloon, saw what was happening and they didn't like. "We should leave" suggested Meowth. Before they could do anything they were grabbed by the Zombie Groudon too. Butler didn't like this either. "That is not Groudon," he said "that thing is just pure evil". Suddenly the Zombie Groudon's tentacle was about to grab him, but Diane pushed Butler out of the way and got captured instead. "No Diane!" shouted Butler. After absorbing Diane, the Zombie Groudon went after the Butler and the gang. The gang ran as fast as they could to get away, but Tomo, Growlithe, May and Brock got caught by the tentacles. Ash, Pikachu, Max and Jirachi got caught next, but Jirachi used teleport to help them escape. The tentacles came after them again, but a flamethrower attack stopped them; it was Butler and his Salamence. "Watch out," said Butler "that thing is after Jirachi". Flygon helped Ash and Max too by attacking the tentacles with hyper beam attack.
Ash, Pikachu and Max got onto Flygon's back and they managed to escape the tentacles. Salamence flew over to them. "Listen to me," said Butler "there might be a way to stop this thing, but I need your help. Jirachi might be able to drain the energy from that monster if we put him back onto my machine. If we reverse the polarity it should work". "I don't think we should trust you, since all of this is your fault" said Max. "You must trust," said Butler "because I want to save Diane". Butler realized the error of his ways and wanted to make it right again. 'We should trust him,' said Jirachi 'he loves Diane'. Ash and Max agreed to trust Butler. "What should we do?" asked Ash. "That monster will keep on going after Jirachi," said Butler "you have to keep it distracted, while I set the machine up". "Okay," said Ash "but we better work quickly".
So Ash, Pikachu, Max and Jirachi distracted the Zombie Groudon, while flying on Flygon. Butler and Salamence flew over to Butler's machine. The Zombie Groudon had knocked the machine earlier, and now the machine was dangling on some edges of some cliffs. Butler got the machine ready as quick as he could, taking care not to fall of the machine, and reached for the fossil shard. "Once I reverse this, it should be ready" he said. Unfortunately the machine jilted and Butler dropped the shards and it rolled off the machine, but luckily Flygon made it to the machine and Ash caught it just in time. Now it was time to put the machine into action. Butler placed the fossil shard into place and Max placed Jirachi into place. 'Let's do this' said Jirachi.
At that moment, the Zombie Groudon turned up. Flygon and Salamence fought the Zombie Groudon to distract it, but they caught by the tentacles and Butler lost his footing when the machine shook. Ash ran over to the switch to finish the job. "It's up to you now Jirachi" he said, flipping the switch. A beam of light shot into the earth and then all the energy was being drained from the Zombie Groudon and into Jirachi; Butler's plan was working. The Zombie Groudon was not happy with this and tried to grab Jirachi with its tentacles, but Butler made himself get grabbed. "You must hurry" said Butler, before he got absorbed. The Zombie Groudon's energy was getting more drained by the minute, and it started to melt. It held onto the platform to try and cover Jirachi. But then Jirachi started to glow very brightly and then he attacked the Zombie Groudon with a move called doom desire. Doom desire was a steel type move that attacked opponents a few moments later; like the move future sight, only stronger. The Zombie Groudon got struck by a concentrated bundle of light and then it evaporated.
After the Zombie Groudon was defeated and destroyed, all the pokemon and humans, that it absorbed, were free. Butler and Diane were happy to be together again. The gang was happy and relieved that it was over and that the Zombie Groudon was no more. Jirachi flew over to Max. "You did it Jirachi," said Max "you're the best". 'You're the best really Max,' said Jirachi 'you made all my wishes come true. But I have one final wish'. "What is it?" asked Max. 'I feel very sleepy,' said Jirachi 'and it would make me happy if you sing that song one last time for me'. "I see, you want the lullaby," said May "we'll both grant that wish". May started to sing the lullaby, and Ash, Tomo, Brock and Max joined in. 'Thank you everyone' said Jirachi, 'I couldn't have wished for anything else'. Jirachi closed his eyes, turned back into a crystal cocoon, and then went back into the earth to sleep for the next 1000 years, while the energy was seeping over Forina. Max tearfully said good bye to Jirachi and that he would never forget him.
So Forina was now safe again after that. Butler and Diane decided to stay in Forina to protect it. As Butler nearly made Forina get destroyed because of the Zombie Groudon, he decided to protect Forina for the rest of his life. Diane was happy that she and Butler can finally live happy lives with each other, with nothing bad happening again. May realized that she forgot to put down the last flap on her charm last night. May didn't mind though; she believed that it was best to work hard to make your wish come true instead. Ash agreed with her because he though you would miss out on many fun things if your dream or wish just came true in a flash.
Butler and Diane offered the gang a ride back to town, and they accepted the offer. Before they left Jirachi spoke to Max that he would never forget him and would always be his friend. "I will never forget you either Jirachi, and we will be friends always" replied Max. Then the gang left to continue their journey, leaving Butler and Diane to protect Forina.
Sorry for the wait. I'm sorry if people thought that Max would own Jirachi, but it's obvious that it's too impossible for anyone to keep Jirachi in the anime because it would just go back to sleep after seven days. I don't understand why the gang didn't speak of their encounter of Team Magma before to Diane in the movie. Since the fake Groudon in the movie looked like a zombie, I decided to call it a Zombie Groudon. Ash was talking about Sam, from Movie 4, to Max.
