Pokemon Ranger and
The Temple of the Sea
Deep in the ocean in Kanto laid a mysterious pokemon egg. This egg was blue with a big red dot in the middle and small little dots around it. The water pokemon had been keeping an eye on it and making sure it hadn't cracked. Normally pokemon eggs weren't supposed to be in water or they would be too cold to hatch. But somehow this pokemon egg was fine in the ocean.
Just then something disturbed the water pokemon and made them swim away in terror. It was a huge submarine-ship made out of metal. This ship was run by pirates. Their leader Captain Phantom was bad news; he went around stealing everything he wanted like gold, jewels etc. What he was interested now was the mysterious pokemon egg. He told his second in command Galen to retrieve the egg. A mechanical came out of the submarine, grabbed the egg, and then brought it into the ship and into a chamber where some pirates were securing it. The sub was brought to the surface and some helicopters that the pirates also had landed on it. The captain and Galen entered the chamber. Phantom had a pokemon called Chatot, what was a flying pokemon and a parrot type pokemon and it could mimic anything it hears. It was also a Sinnoh region pokemon. "Galen," said Phantom "there are two types of men in this world. There are those who have unlimited desires and those who do not, and I am one of those who has an unlimited desire". "Absolutely Captain" said Galen. "This egg will give me what I desire, the sea crown" said Phantom.
Before Phantom could touch the egg, a pirate grabbed it quickly. "What?!" said Phantom. "Sorry but you won't be using this to satisfy your selfish desires" said the pirate, and he ran off with the egg. "Seize him!" demanded Phantom. The truth was this pirate was not a pirate at all, he was actually a pokemon ranger named Jack Walker, also known as Jackie. Jackie had heard about Phantom and the mysterious egg and it was his job from the pokemon ranger headquarters to protect the egg. Jackie ran all the way to the top of the sub, with the pirates chasing him. Jackie was soon cornered and a Pinsir and Parasect that also belonged to Phantom were out to attack him. Jackie quickly used a capture styler to catch a wild Mantine and ordered it to use confuse ray. Thanks to that, Jackie was able to escape with the egg safely while the pirates and the pokemon were distracted. Phantom was not happy with Jack escaping with the egg, but he wasn't going to give up on his desire yet.
Out in the middle of nowhere the gang were struggling with walking. It was a blazing hot day and the gang was very thirsty because they didn't have any water on them. And the worse part was they were lost. "Oh I wish we were at a town already," complained May "I'm so thirsty I could drink a bath full of water". "If we don't find any water soon I fear I'm going to shrivel up like a raison" said Ash.
Just then the gang saw some big watery bubbles floating in the air. "Is that a mirage?" asked Ash. "Let's check it out" said Brock. When the gang went to see what the bubbles were, they saw some water pokemon swimming around in the big bubbles and a girl with blue hair was with them. Max ran up to the girl and asked if they could have some water. Brock explained to the girl that they were lost and thirsty. "We have plenty of water here" said the girl, whose name was Lizabeth. Lizabeth introduced her family; Meredith her mother, Kyle her father, and her grandfather Ship.
The family invited the gang into their home, which was a trailer and a wooden boat on wheels; this family were travelling performers. There was also a non-speaking clown living with them. The gang were delighted to get something to drink, since they had been out in the hot sun for ages. The family had an orange weasel like pokemon called Buizel, which was a pokemon that can be found in the Sinnoh region. Ship offered the gang to come with them and see their show. The gang were curious to see what show they were going to put on and they wanted a lift to the next town so they accepted Ship's offer.
What Lizabeth and her family did was a travelling circus called the Marina Group, using water pokemon. The trick for the big watery bubbles the water was created by the water pokemon and then Meditite and Medicham would use psychic to make the big bubbles with the water. For the show Lizabeth and her parents were dressed in outfits that made them nearly look like tropical fish, and then they would swim around in the bubbles and jump from bubble to another with the water pokemon like a water ballet. Ship was the ring master. The clown was acting on the ground doing juggling and doing funny acts. During the end of the show the gang got pulled into the act as well, except Growlithe. Growlithe avoided being put into a watery bubble. All the watery bubbles were moved into one big bubble, and then the bubble burst ending the show.
While the show was going on Buizel was being curious. In the trailer, behind a curtain on a bunk bed, there was a container. Buizel was curious of the container and couldn't stop wandering what it was. Its curiously nearly made the container fall off the bed and to the floor, but Buizel managed to catch it. But the container was heavy for Buizel and it stumbled out of the trailer with the container. Luckily May saw Buizel struggling and helped it. As soon as May grabbed the container, she pressed a button and it revealed what was inside. The egg that Jack saved from Phantom was in the container. Just then the clown took the container, waved its finger at Buizel saying not to touch the container and bowed to May saying thank you for saving the container. Then the clown gave the container back to Lizabeth. It seemed Lizabeth and her family and the clown were taking great care of protecting the egg.
Unfortunately Team Rocket, who had followed the gang and spied on them like usual, saw the egg in the container. "Hey I've seen that thing before" said James. He put down his binoculars and opened up a Team Rocket gazette. A Team Rocket gazette was a newspaper that the organization wrote only for Team Rocket members. This also held information and adverts about other criminals that Giovanni knew of. James went through some of the pictures till he found what he was looking for. He found a picture of Captain Phantom and next to him was a picture of the egg. "Here it is," said James "that blue egg thing is the same one in this gazette". "Awe do you think this Captain Phantom will pay us treasures if we tell him where that egg is?" asked Meowth. "I wouldn't really bet on that," said James "pirates are real crooks, which means they never pay their side of bargains and never keep their words". Jessie looked thoughtful. "I say we go ahead and tell this pirate where the egg is, and if he doesn't pay us we'll just follow him to get our payment" she said. James and Meowth agreed with that, and so James phoned Phantom and told him where the blue egg he was searching for was. After finishing the call Team Rocket decided to follow the Marina Group so they could get the egg to Phantom themselves.
The family offered to give the gang a lift to the next town on their caravan, and the gang accepted. One night, while they were travelling May had a dream. She dreamt that she was swimming under the sea, with thousands of water pokemon swimming alongside her. Then a mysterious, glowing pokemon was swimming beside her, and then she saw a temple that stood under the sea. The pokemon swam to the temple and May tried to keep up with it, and then she woke up.
When morning came and everyone was having breakfast, May told everyone all about her dream. "A temple in the sea sounds wonderful" said Ash. Lizabeth and her family stared at each other. "To tell you the truth I have had that same dream too May" said Lizabeth. "Have you heard of the people of the water?" asked Meredith. The gang replied they hadn't and Brock asked who they were. Ship explained the people of the water were a race of people that travelled the oceans and lived in harmony with all water pokemon. Meredith revealed that the family were descendants of the people of the water, and Ship revealed that there were many of them left now "In order to receive the ocean's blessings and show their gratitude to the water pokemon, our ancestors built what has been called the Sea Temple" said Ship. "That was what you saw in your dream May" said Lizabeth. "The people of the water still see the temple in their dreams" said Meredith. "A memory written straight in your DNA?" said Brock "amazing". "Then if May had the dream, then that means Max and Max must be descendants of the people of the water too" said Ash. Max was astonished with that, and he thought that maybe his dad or mum were descendants of the people of the water too.
Meanwhile trouble was happening in the trailer. Team Rocket was in the trailer, searching for the mysterious egg. Jessie found the container behind a curtain and revealed the egg. "Pretty" she said. "An egg like this must be worth a fortune" said Meowth. "Now we present this to Phantom ourselves" said James. Suddenly the egg glowed pink and then three orbs of pink light came out of the light and went into Jessie, James and Meowth. "What just happened?" asked Jessie, but she was talking in Meowth's body. "Hey why are you in my body?" asked Meowth, who was talking in James' body. "This is crazy" said James, who was talking in Jessie's body. This crazy thing made the trio talk and shout loudly and went outside the trailer to leave.
Unfortunately for Team Rocket the family and the gang saw them. Team Rocket took off with the container once they realized they had been seen. The clown ran after them at once and so did everyone else. Team Rocket ran to their blimp and started to fly away. Ash took out a pokeball and released his Masquerain. "I'll help you out too" said the clown. He looked around and saw a Fearow sitting in a tree, and then he took out, what Ash realized was, a capture styler and used it to catch the Fearow. Fearow and Masquerain flew off to the blimp, with Pikachu riding on Fearow. "Masquerain use bubble on Team Rocket and Pikachu get that container back" said Ash. Masquerain fired hundreds of bubbles at Team Rocket and Pikachu managed to grab the container out of Jessie's arms. Finally Fearow pierced the blimp with its beak and sent the blimp and Team Rocket flying far away.
Ash was proud of his two pokemon, and the clown thanked Fearow and Fearow flew away. "Since that's a capture styler, that means you are really a pokemon ranger right?" Ash said to the clown. The clown was really Jackie in disguise. Jackie took off the clown costume and introduced himself to the gang. Jackie explained he was on a mission and the family was helping him. "So what's important about that container?" asked Ash. Jackie revealed the egg to the gang. "This is a pokemon egg, and it's an egg of the legendary pokemon Manaphy" he said. "Manaphy?" said Tomo. "Oh I've read of Manaphy in my book of legendary pokemon," said Ash "it's a legendary water pokemon. It's also known as the prince of the sea, which is funny to me really because I always thought Kyogre was the ruler of the sea". "A common mistake, because it's really Manaphy that is said to be the ruler of the sea" said Jackie. Jackie explained that his mission was to get Manaphy hatched safely and deliver to a place called Samiya, also known as the sea temple. "Then that temple must be what I saw in my dream," said May "and that mysterious pokemon I saw in my dream must have been Manaphy". "You're lucky May" said Max.
Suddenly trouble arrived. Some helicopters turned up and they belonged to Phantom. Thanks to Team Rocket's directions and the helicopter's radars, they were able to find Jackie and the egg. "Hurry into the trailer," said Ship "we must get out of here". Two Beedrills were sent out of a helicopter and they chased the group. Phantom was watching. "There are two types of people in this world," he said "those who are chased and those who do the chasing. And I go with the role of the chaser". He jumped out of his helicopter to get the egg and Calen followed him. During the chase Ash and Jackie split up from the others. Phantom and Calen went after Ash and Jackie to get the egg. "Pokemon Ranger, I suggest you give up" said Phantom. "A pokemon ranger never gives, and you are going home empty handed" replied Jackie, and he and Ash ran off again. While being chased by Phantom Jackie and Ash played a trick on Phantom. Jackie ran off in one direction while looking like he still had the container and Ash secretly ran another way holding the real container.
Phantom was chasing Jackie and he found out that Jackie was just holding two juggling balls under the blanket. Jackie threw a ball at Phantom. Phantom hit it back, but the ball bounced off some rocks and hit Phantom hard. He became very angry. "You're not getting away with this" he said, angrily. He charged towards Jackie, but Jackie jumped onto a boulder to dodge. While Jackie was still on the boulder, Phantom easily picked up the boulder and threw it without even struggling and trying. Phantom revealed to be very strong for an old man. "You take vitamins?" asked Jackie.
Meanwhile Ash and Pikachu were still running with the container. They caught up with May, Max and Tomo and Growlithe. "We have to get out of here and away from these pirates" said May. Just then Calen turned up. "You think you're so smart," he said "Beedrill pin missile". Ash ordered Pikachu to use thunderbolt and Tomo ordered Growlithe to use flamethrower. May and the boys tried to run away again, but Beedrill stopped them with sludge bomb. Ash got knocked off his feet and the container flew out of his arms. "Grab it May!" shouted Ash. May heard Ash and caught the container. "Get back to the trailer these men are after the egg" said Ash. May, Max and Tomo ran ahead while Pikachu and Ash stayed behind to fight the Beedrill.
May, Max and Tomo and Growlithe ran as fast as they could with the container. Suddenly the egg began to glow. "Do you think it's going to hatch?" asked Tomo. Before his question could be answered, Phantom turned up. "That egg belongs to me," he said "give it to me". "No, Manaphy doesn't belong to anyone!" shouted May. "Anything that doesn't have an owner belongs to me" replied Phantom. Max and Tomo tried to fight Phantom, while May tried to stop him from taking the container. During the struggle, Phantom ended up opening the container and the egg flew out. May quickly jumped in and caught the egg before it hit the ground.
Suddenly the egg started to glow very brightly; this meant it was going to hatch. Jackie wanted to get the egg from May at once, but Phantom grabbed hold of him to stop him. It was then that the egg hatched into a blue pokemon with stubby feet, two long arms, a pair of long antennae and a red gem and yellow dot on its chest. This pokemon was Manaphy. May was surprised with what happened, and the baby Manaphy started to cry. Phantom was disappointed with himself; he wanted the hatch the egg himself.
At that moment Meredith, Kyle, Ship, Lizabeth and Brock turned up with the trailer. "Come on let's go" said Jackie. Everyone ran to the trailer at once. Phantom tried to chase them, but Jackie managed to trick him into running into Calen. So everyone got into the trailer and they set off to get away from the pirates.
In the trailer Manaphy was still crying and May tried to calm it down. "There, there, Manaphy its okay, it's okay" she said, gently rocking it, "don't cry, don't cry". A minute later Manaphy calmed down and fell asleep in May's arms. "Phew what a relief" sighed May. Meredith offered to take care of Manaphy now, but as soon Manaphy was in Meredith's arms it began to cry again. May took back Manaphy and then Manaphy stopped crying and went back to sleep again. "I think Manaphy prefers you May" said Meredith. "Well May this means you're a mother now" said Ash. He reminded her that the first thing, the baby pokemon sees when they hatch, is considered the parent.
Suddenly Pikachu sensed trouble was outside. Ash opened up the roof of the trailer and he saw the helicopters. "They're back!" he warned everyone. Kyle picked up more speed to get away, but two of the helicopters launched grabbling hooks to the trailer to stop it from getting away. Ship came into the trailer from the front car and told everyone to leave the trailer at once. Once everyone got into the front car, Ship unlatched the trailer. The two helicopters got out of control, but they unleased the wires and the trailer fell down a cliff. Kyle was able to speed up without the trailer and he drove into a forest.
Meanwhile Jessie, James and Meowth, who had crashed their blimp in a forest at some ruins, woke up from their unconsciousness. "I just had the weirdest dream of my life," said Jessie "I dreamt I was Meowth". "I dreamt I was you" said James. "And I dreamt I was James" said Meowth. "But what if that wasn't a dream" said Jessie. Just then Wobbuffet and Mime Jr who were out of their pokeballs pointed to something. It was the group with the front car; they had come to the ruins. "Since the twerps are here let's have another go at taking that egg" said James. They watched the group enter the ruins.
At that moment the helicopters and pirates arrived. The pirates surrounded the front car. "They're not here sir" said a pirate. "They must be in them ruins, let's follow them" said Phantom. The trio saw the pirates. "Hey is Phantom" said James, recognizing him from the Team Rocket Gazette. "Well since he's here let's get our payment from him" said Meowth. "No wait," said James "Phantom doesn't look the kind who would pay us after working for him. We should disguise ourselves as pirates and follow these pirates to wherever they're going and see what they're up to". "Good idea," said Jessie "and if they are looking for treasures somewhere else we can nab it from them and then leave as quick as we can". "That's a brilliant idea" said Meowth. "Leave our pirate disguises to me and my sewing skills" said Jessie.
In the ruins, the group walked to what looked like a dead end. Ship held up his bracelet of crystals to a red gem on the stone wall. The crystals glowed and then the gem revealed an ancient combination two circled lock. Ship unlocked the lock by spinning the circles and opened up a secret passage. "Do you kids have any water type pokemon" Ship asked the gang. The gang said they did and Ship told them they would need them now. The reason for that was there was a tunnel of water in the passage and everyone had to swim from here. Tomo told Growlithe had he had to get in the pokeball now, and Growlithe didn't mind doing that because he didn't want to swim.
At that time Phantom and his crew had entered the ruins and they came to the dead end. Phantom owned an old worn out bracelet of the same crystals Lizabeth and her family had. He revealed the lock and unlocked it. Once they got into the passage they saw the tunnel of water. "These ruins were built from the people of the water," said Phantom "which means that must be who those people are". He ordered everyone to get back to the helicopters; he didn't want to bother wasting time of swimming through the tunnel of water.
By now everyone were riding on water pokemon through the tunnel. Ash and Pikachu were riding on Lanturn, May on Squirtle, Brock on Marshtomp, Tomo on Poliwhirl, Max on Buizel, Jackie on a Politoed, Ship on Seaking, Kyle on Dewgong, Meredith on Poliwrath and Lizabeth on Gorebyss. They arrived at an underground ruin. Kyle flipped a rock switch and the underground ruin lit up like magic. There was an ancient painting of a temple, Manaphys, the ocean and shadowed people on the walls. "Hey that's the temple I saw in my dream" said May. "That's the sea temple, Samiya" said Lizabeth. The family explained there was an ancient treasure in the sea temple called the sea crown, and many thieves had tried to take the sea crown for years. To protect the temple and sea crown, the people of the water set some traps in the temple, so now the temple couldn't be seen by anyone because it blended in with the water. One day the temple was carried away by the tides and the temple had drifted along the ocean continuously ever since, making it impossible to find. However the temple would appear only at the time of the total eclipse of the moon, and that was when the people of the water used to hold their festival to honour the water pokemon. "Wow a temple that travels the ocean by itself, amazing" said Ash. "But if this temple can't be seen, then how do you find it?" asked Brock. "Manaphy can find it" said Lizabeth. She explained that the temple was built where wild Manaphy lived. Ship explained that ever since the temple started to move about freely the Manaphy had been born with homing instincts that allowed them to locate the temple at any time no matter where it was. "So that is why those pirates want Manaphy so badly," said Ash "they want it to find the sea temple so they could take the sea crown". "We must protect the sea temple at all costs" said Ship. "We must also protect Manaphy at all costs too" said Jackie. "Excuse me Jackie, but who was that pirate we were fighting earlier?" asked Ash. "That was Phantom the pirate, a real mean dude" answered Jackie. Now the gang knew what was going on, they knew that Manaphy was in real trouble.
At that time Phantom and his crew came out of the temple to get back in their helicopters. Jessie and James and Meowth were standing near the helicopters, but they were in disguise; Jessie and James were dressed in the same pirate uniforms as the other pirates, whilst Meowth acted like a normal Meowth. (Jessie had quickly used her needle work to create the pirate uniforms) "What are you three doing?" asked Calen, who seemed suspicious about them. "We were keeping an eye on the helicopters like we were asked to" replied James, quickly. Phantom stared at the trio. "I don't quite remember asking you three to do that, nor do I remember seeing you three," he said "but since you are here you will be swabbing sub when we get back". The trio were delighted that Phantom fell for their disguise, and were happy with them-selves for being able to follow them. Once the pirates got back to the sub Phantom ordered Calen to set up the radars. Since Manaphy was with the group, Phantom had decided that they will follow the group and have them lead him to the sea temple. While the trio got to work on swabbing the sub, they quietly sniggered to each other. "Now we wait and see where these pirates are up to" whispered James. Jessie and Meowth agreed.
Meanwhile the group were riding small rowing boats down the river and into a cave. "I want to thank you kids for helping me up to this point," said Jackie "but once we get out of this grotto I will be leaving with Manaphy. You kids have gotten too far in this and this is a mission only for a mission". This meant that Jackie didn't want the gang's help anymore. This didn't feel right to the gang because they still wanted to help Manaphy.
Once the group reached a dock Tomo released his Growlithe from the pokeball at once, which was a relief to Growlithe. Ship was keeping an eye out for a boat he owned. When Ship was a young man he used to travel all over the world on his ship 'The Blue Lagoon'. Once the ship arrived, Ship thanked his old friends Gabu, Dabu, and Zabu for taking care of his ship all this time and told them that he, his family and Jackie were going to travel on it for a while. The three men wanted to go with them too, but Ship reassured them they would do this journey alone. He didn't tell them they were going to Samiya. Gabu, Dabu, and Zabu and the gang bid their farewells to the family and Jackie once the boat started to leave. Jackie held on to Manaphy, who was asleep all this time.
Even though Jackie had told the gang to leave the rest of the mission to him, the gang was not happy with not getting to go with them. "I wanted to know more about Manaphy" said Max. "I wanted to see the undersea temple too" said Tomo. "Jackie should let us help him get Manaphy to Samiya;" said Ash "with those evil pirates about he won't be able to keep Manaphy safe by himself, never mind get it to the temple safely". "But what can we do?" asked Brock. May felt terrible because Manaphy was leaving her; she was getting that feeling that real mothers have when their own child is leaving them. On the boat Manaphy woke up from its nap and started crying out for May. May heard Manaphy's cry and became worried. Gabu, Dabu and Zabu turned to the kids. "Being young means you never turn away from adventure" said Zabu. "What are you afraid of?" asked Gabu "this is your only chance". "If you want to go, then you should go" said Dabu. "There is nothing worse than regrets kids" said Zabu. The gang agreed with Gabu, Dabu and Zabu and they started to run after the ship calling out 'we want to go with you!'
On the boat Jackie was trying to calm down Manaphy, when suddenly Manaphy let out two pink orbs of light energy from its antenna. One went into Jackie and one went all the way to Ash, making them glow pink for a second. When the light died down Jackie started talking in Ash's body and Ash started talking in Jackie's body. (The same thing that happened with Jessie, James and Meowth) Ship and Lizabeth saw what happened and they decided that the gang should come with them.
Once the gang was on the boat, with Manaphy calming down with May around, Jackie explained to Ash what had happened. By now Ash and Jackie were back in their own bodies. What happened what Manaphy had used a move called heart swap which had an ability to swap two souls with each other. That was why Ash's soul was in Jackie's body and Jackie's soul in Ash's body. But it wears off after a while. May figured Manaphy did that because it didn't want her to leave. "Manaphy you make me so happy" said May, giving it a cuddle. "Happy, happy" said Manaphy, suddenly. The gang couldn't believe it that Manaphy was starting to talk and it made May happier.
At that moment Kyle, who was driving the boat, stopped the boat. He told May to release Manaphy into the sea now. Jackie explained that Manaphy had to swim by itself now, while the group just watched and follow it. May wasn't sure about this, but Manaphy was eager to swim in the ocean and it jumped in right away. Kyle started up the boat again so everyone could follow Manaphy. "Manaphy will travel the entire ocean until it finally reaches its home, the sea temple, all by itself" said Ship. "But how can Manaphy know where to go, when it hasn't even been there before?" asked Max. "It's a pokemon instinct thing," said Ash "for some unknown reason pokemon always seem to where they have to go and how to get there, even at migration time, even though they had never been there before and no other pokemon had taught them yet". "But that doesn't make sense Ash" said Max. "No and it never will" said Ash. "A pokemon instincts is a very strange thing" said Brock.
So everyone started to follow Manaphy, on the boat, while Manaphy led the way to Samiya. Along the way, they met up with many, many wild water pokemon as Wailmer, Wailord, Luvdisc, Remoraid, Mantyke, Mantine and Lapras. Tomo pointed out that Misty would have loved this, if she was here, because of her love for water pokemon. Ship and Kyle kept an eye out for the night when the lunar eclipse came. Jackie kept a sharp lookout for Phantom and his crew in case they turned up again, but so far they hadn't yet. May and Manaphy's mother and child bond grew stronger over the days, and May taught Manaphy how to say 'love you'.
One day, when everyone was taking a break and having a swim, Ash had a talk with Jackie. Ash wanted to know why Jackie became a pokemon ranger. Jackie explained when he was still a kid he got lost on a snowy mountain and in a terrible blizzard. He took shelter in cave, but since it was so cold he feared he would freeze to death. But then he noticed wild pokemon living in the cave. There were Swablus, Altarias, Sentrets, Furrets and Shroomishs. The wild pokemon curled around Jackie and kept him warm. Next day the blizzard was over and Jackie was still alive and well. "Because the pokemon saved my life," finished Jackie "I decided to become a pokemon ranger so that I would protect all pokemon at all costs". "I understand that because I went through something like that myself" said Ash. Ash explained to Jackie that when he was seven years old he got lost in a forest and it was raining hard. When he took shelter under a tree some wild pokemon were outside in the rain. There was an Oddish, Weedle, Caterpie, Rattata and Butterfree. Ash called them over to take shelter with them and they did. "Cuddling up to the wild pokemon made me decide that I defiantly wanted to become a pokemon trainer so I could catch many pokemon friends and other things like that" finished Ash. Jackie understood Ash.
Over the days Jackie kept watch on May and Manaphy's bonding and it made him concerned. One day he spoke to Ash. "Ash I need you to do something for me," he said "I need you to please help separate May and Manaphy. If those two stay closer and closer to each other Manaphy won't want to leave, and then it will never become the prince of the sea and leader of all water pokemon". "I hear what you are saying Jackie, but I can't do that," said Ash "May and Manaphy like each other every much. And the time that May and Manaphy can spend together will be over when we get to Samiya because they will never see each other again after Manaphy starts living in the temple. So May and Manaphy should still be close to each other while they still have the chance". Ash understood this because of the time he had being close to Lucario was over in a flash after he died. Jackie was just about to say something but then May interrupted; she had been listening the whole time. "You don't have to worry," she said "Ash Jackie is right, Manaphy is to be the leader of all water pokemon and I cannot be with it forever. I'm alright with that", then she left. The truth is May wasn't all right; she didn't want to be separated from Manaphy and the thought of it made her feel very sad. All through the rest of that day May kept her distance away from Manaphy, even though Manaphy wanted May with it.
Lizabeth went to comfort May; she had heard everything too. As soon as Lizabeth pulled May into a hug, May started crying. As soon as May stopped crying Lizabeth gave her something to make her feel better. She gave May her bracelet of the people of the water's crystals. "I want you to have it May" said Lizabeth. "Thank you Lizabeth" said May.
Meanwhile Phantom and his crew were following the boat in the sub under the sea. Since the boat had Manaphy, Phantom decided they would follow the boat and have the people lead him to the temple. Jessie, James and Meowth, who were swabbing the cabin, were listening to Phantom's plan. "This is a great opportunity," whispered Jessie "we will follow him to the temple too". "Yes and we can take whatever treasure lies in there" whispered Meowth.
The next day all was still peaceful. Ship was excited because today was the day of the lunar eclipse and he and the family wanted to see Samiya. Ash, Tomo and Max went to feed Manaphy. Manaphy was looking for May, but May was still trying to keep her distance away from Manaphy. Ash knew what May was doing and thought this was wrong. To lighten the mood he sent out his five pokemon the two Aipoms, Beautifly, Lanturn and Masquerain to play with Manaphy. Thanks to Ash's pokemon Manaphy started to have a good time. May just watched Manaphy far like usual, but then as she was putting on her bandana the wind made the bandana fly into the sea. Manaphy saw May's bandana and went after it. However the bandana got caught on a Sharpedo and Manaphy had to swim after it to get the bandana back.
Hours went by and Manaphy didn't come back yet. Lizabeth and the gang were getting worried and they decided to go and search for Manaphy. Ship kept a mini submarine on his boat for exploring under the sea and he said to Lizabeth they can use it to find Manaphy. "You must be careful" he warned. "Don't worry grandfather we will be back safely with Manaphy" said Lizabeth. Tomo told his Growlithe to stay on the boat with Lizabeth's family. Since Growlithe was a fire type it wasn't the best idea to involve Growlithe with water. Lizabeth and the gang got into the sub and set off to find Manaphy. May was worried and she feared that Manaphy ran off because she had kept her distance away from it all this time. What had happened really was other water pokemon ended up getting May's bandana and Manaphy had to swim after them to get it back, until at last the bandana landed on a Cloyster and Manaphy got it back. In the sub everyone looked carefully for Manaphy, and then Ash spotted Manaphy swimming over to the sub. May saw her bandana and realized that Manaphy was only getting it back after she lost it. Lizabeth contacted her family and Jack and told them what had happened and then said they'll be back to the boat shortly.
But suddenly the sub was caught in a strong current and Lizabeth found it hard to control the sub. Jackie and Lizabeth's family saw what was happening on the radar and feared for the kids' safety. Manaphy swam up to the sub, called out to May and then swam away from the current. "I think Manaphy wants us to follow it" said May. Lizabeth fought for control of the sub and thanks to Manaphy they got out of the current safely. "You can count on the prince of the sea to lead us in the sea safely" said Max. Everyone was grateful to Manaphy.
Unfortunately for everyone was Phantom was following them in a mini submarine of his with his Chatot. He and his crew had seen on their radars that the group were following Manaphy. So Phantom decided to follow the group himself in his mini sub. Team Rocket decided to go with him too. There was a life pod on Phantom's mini sub and, without anyone knowing, the trio got into the life pod.
Back on the boat Jackie and Lizabeth's family were relieved themselves that the kids were out of the current. "The lunar eclipse is starting" said Meredith. She was right because the moon started to go dark. "Hey the kids have disappeared off the radar" said Jackie. "What, how?" said Meredith. "I think I know how" said Ship. At that moment the lunar eclipse was full and then like magic a temple appeared in the sea. "It's Samiya!" gasped Ship. Samiya was protected by a big bubble shield, which made the temple invisible until the lunar eclipse. So Lizabeth and the gang were at Samiya. Suddenly Jackie noticed something on the radar; he saw Phantom's mini sub. Jackie knew he had to get to Samiya, so he dived into the sea and used his capture stylus to catch a Mantyke to give him a ride to Samiya.
Upon arriving at Samiya, Lizabeth and the gang got out of the submarine and stared at the temple. "I don't believe it," said Max "we are under water but this temple is flooded at all". "It must because of that shield we just went through;" said Brock "it probably keeps the water out so this temple doesn't sink". May called out to Manaphy and Manaphy jumped into May's arms at once. May was happy to see Manaphy and she apologized to it for leaving it alone. Lizabeth and the gang decided to check out the temple at once. It was beautiful with water fountains everywhere, a real sight for sore eyes.
At that moment Manaphy started to sing, and while it sang the crystals on Lizabeth's necklace and May's bracelet lit up and the temple sounded like it was responding to Manaphy's song. "It must be the people of the water" said Lizabeth. Then a waterfall parted ways like magic revealing a secret passage way. Manaphy jumped out of May's and swam away, and everyone followed.
Meanwhile Phantom and his Chatot made it to Samiya themselves. Phantom was happy to be at the sea temple at last and couldn't stop smiling and laughing. "Now it is time for my precious sea crown" he said, skipping away with Chatot following him. Team Rocket got out of the life pod; it had been a tight squeeze for the three of them in there since the pod was only for one person. "Ugh finally" gasped James, who was feeling sore. "That's the last time I'm sharing a cramped room with you two" said Meowth. "Come on you two," said Jessie, shakily, "let's go found some treasure". So the trio started their search for treasure.
At that time Manaphy was guiding the group through the temple. Even though this was the first time Manaphy had visited Samiya, Manaphy seemed to know where it was going. (Must have been an instinct thing) Everyone came to a chamber of the temple which held a stone pillar with some ancient writing on it. "This is the sign of the sea crown" said Lizabeth. "What does the writing say?" asked Max. Lizabeth didn't know what the writing said and thought maybe her grandfather would know. "I can translate for you kids" said a voice. I was phantom; he and his Chatot had followed the kids. "It's the least I can do to thank you for leading me here". The kids were not happy to see Phantom. "You have no power here," said Lizabeth "this temple only belongs to the people of the water". "I know all about the people of the water," said Phantom "and this writing says beyond this door, which may only be open with the people of the water's mark, lies the crown. Whoever shall wear this crown shall be known as king of the sea". He revealed his people of the water's mark to the kids and said we went through a lot to obtain it. Lizabeth hated to think what the phantom did. Phantom held his crystals again the pillar and both the crystals and the sea crown mark on the pillar lit up, and then the pillar sunk into the floor and revealed a combination lock, like the one back at the underground ruins, on the wall. Phantom unlocked the lock and then the wall opened up a secret passage way. Phantom ran ahead and the kids followed him.
At that time the lunar eclipse was over and the sea temple became invisible again. With Samiya invisible again, it would be hard for Jackie to get there.
The secret passage way led to a chamber and in this chamber was a big stone, shaped like a layer cake, with light blue crystals sticking out of it and a big watery bubble surrounding it. It was the sea crown. "Finally the sea crown and it is all mine" said Phantom. The kids couldn't believe how gorgeous the sea crown was. "There are two types of men in this world," said Phantom "those who look good with rare jewels and those who do not. For my money the sea crown and I are a match made in the heavens". Manaphy jumped out of May's arms and swam in the watery bubble around the sea crown; it was happy to see the sea crown. Suddenly Phantom grabbed hold of a crystal and started to pull it out. "Hey you can take that!" shouted Ash. "I risked everything to capture the sea crown," said Phantom "and from now on it belongs to me".
Suddenly the watery bubble surrounding the sea crown burst and water started coming in like crazy. Because the Phantom had removed a crystal, Samiya was now in danger. Truth is the sea crown is what made the big bubble shield that protected Samiya, and with a crystal loose the bubble shield was now leaking water in the temple. Now Samiya was visible again. Jackie saw what was happening and he had to get into the temple fast.
Inside things were looking dangerous because of the start of the flooding. "We have to get back to the sub" said Lizabeth, who knew that it was too dangerous for them to stay. Ash wanted to stay and stop Phantom, but with how things were this was no time to argue. While the kids ran away, Phantom stayed to take more crystals.
While the kids ran they ran into Jackie who made it to the temple. Brock told Jackie that Phantom was at the sea crown and taking crystals from it. Jackie told the group that the temple was sinking because of the flooding. "You kids must get out of here," said Jackie "I'll deal with Phantom". "It's bad in there Jackie" warned Ash. "Don't worry Ash, I'll be fine because I'm a ranger" said Jackie. Jackie ran off to find Phantom while the group ran to get back to the submarine.
At that time Phantom was getting more crystals out of the sea crown. The flooding didn't prevent him from continuing. "You've seem to have forgotten old man that this crown belongs to the people of the water and the water pokemon" said Jackie. "This is all mine now" said Phantom. "Oh really?" said Jackie "your mind is on the fritz. I'll take care of that". Jackie started running and grabbing onto two crystals and putting them back in the sea crown. Phantom dropped his bag of crystals and tried to stop Jackie. Jackie tried to tell Phantom about the sinking of the temple, but Phantom wouldn't listen. At that moment a huge gush of water made Phantom and Jackie fall into the water. The currents of the water fountains made Jackie and Phantom separate from each other. Being tossed about by the water fountains made Phantom lose a crystal that he managed to hold on.
Meanwhile Lizabeth and the gang had made their way back to the submarine. Things were starting to look really bad for Samiya now. Ash and May were about to enter the sub, when suddenly Manaphy jumped out of May's arms and swam back into Samiya. May started to run after it and Ash followed. Lizabeth, Brock, Tomo and Max had to leave in the sub at once because the waves were getting rough. Manaphy swam all the way back to the sea crown and tried to pick up a crystal itself. "Manaphy must want to save the temple since this is its home," said Ash "let's help it May". "Lets" agreed May. She and Ash swam and ran to the sea crown and started to put the remaining crystals back, but since the last crystal was missing because of Phantom Ash and May were at a loss.
Meanwhile the Phantom just realized that Jackie was telling him the truth about Samiya sinking. He decided this was a good time to leave and headed towards his mini sub to get away. Team Rocket, who found no treasures to take, was already at the mini sub; they saw what was happening and wanted to leave the temple too. They were just about to get in the sub but the phantom, being a strong man, threw them out before they closed the door on him. But before he got in a big wave swept him and the sub and Team Rocket away. Jessie and James quickly sent out Cloyster and Chinchou to swim away and get to shore.
At that time Jackie was running away from the flooding too. He saw Lizabeth's sub and believed that she and the gang were in it; what he didn't know was Ash and May weren't in there. He saw Phantom's mini sub below him and jumped onto it. Phantom's Chatot flew over to the mini sub and it and Jackie got into it together. Phantom managed to grab hold onto the mini sub and got out a torpedo to get away from the temple.
Inside the temple Ash and May were running away from the flooding; Samiya was really flooded by now. While they were running Pikachu noticed the lost crystal resting in a fountain. Ash grabbed it at once. "It must have floated here by the water," said Ash "we better get back to the sea crown and put it back". Suddenly a big wave of water headed their way and Ash and May ran away at once. They ran to get back to the sea crown. By now the way to the chamber where the sea crown was flooded. "What should we do?" asked May, worriedly. Just then Ash saw the life pod, which Team Rocket used to get to Samiya. He placed May, Manaphy and Pikachu into the pod, shut the door and locked it. "You stay there," he said to them "I'm going to put this crystal back". And he left. May and Pikachu could do nothing but wait in worry for Ash; they feared he might drown from the water. Ash ran on top of stone pillars to get to the sea crown.
Meanwhile Lizabeth, Max, Tomo and Brock were waiting with worry about Ash and May. Lizabeth's family heard about what happened and they were worried too. At that moment Jackie and Chatot showed up in the mini sub. "Jackie are you alright?" asked Ship. "I'm fine, where are the kids?" asked Jackie. "May and Ash haven't come back yet" said Ship. "What?!" gasped Jackie. Now that Jackie knew that May and Ash hadn't come back, he knew he had to get back to the temple to help them before they drowned.
Meanwhile Ash was swimming his way to the sea crown; he had none of this pokemon with him because he left his pokeballs behind on the boat so he had to rely on himself to safe Samiya. Once he arrived at the chamber of the sea crown he first went up for some air. Then he swam all the way down to the sea and put the crystal back into its place. Once Ash did that the whole sea crown began to glow yellow and then yellow tentacle-like auras began spreading about. Because the crystals had all been put back, the power of the sea crown was able to heal the temple and safe it from sinking.
At that time Jackie, Lizabeth and the boys were making their way to Samiya to help Ash and May. Growlithe was joining them this time because he was worried about Ash and May and Pikachu. It was then they saw thousands of wild water pokemon heading towards Samiya. It seemed they knew the temple was in danger and came to help. Brock thought that Misty would definitely have liked this if she was here. Suddenly Max saw a Kyogre; it had come to help too. On the surface thousands of Wingull and Pelipper was flying in the sky. At that moment Samiya made its way to the surface. Kyle, Meredith and Ship were awestruck when they saw the temple. May, Manaphy and Pikachu got out of the life pod, happy to see the temple was all right again. "Ash did it, he saved the temple" said May. But then she and Pikachu feared that Ash had drowned.
Suddenly Phantom came out of the ocean on his torpedo and grabbed Manaphy. "As long as I have you with me I can always find the temple," said Phantom "I will claim the temple and the sea crown". He wasn't giving up yet. Just then Ash burst out of the ocean, surrounded by yellow aura. The yellow aura made Ash able to swim in the water very fast, jump high out of the sea like he was flying and breathe under water. It was like Ash was using aqua jet. "Whoever shall wear the sea crown shall become king of the sea," said Ship, who was watching Ash with Kyle and Meredith, "it is the touchstone between the people of the water and water pokemon". Because Ash had repaired the sea crown, the sea crown had made Ash the king of the sea and given him the power of breathing underwater and swimming very fast.
The wild water pokemon came to help Manaphy. First a large school of Remoraid and Wailord and Wailmer distracted Phantom. Then Kyogre pushed Phantom out of the water. Ash saw his chance and grabbed Manaphy out of Phantom's arms. Manaphy was grateful to Ash and the water pokemon for saving it.
But Phantom wasn't down yet. His sub and crew had turned up and he was riding on top of the sub. Galen sent out supersonic waves from the sub and all of the pokemon went into a confused state. To stop the confusion, Manaphy used heart swap and it helped snap all the pokemon out of their confused state. Then Manaphy ordered all of the water pokemon to attack Phantom's sub. The Wailmer and Wailord pod tackled the sub, some Mantine attacked Phantom with bubble beam, and then a school of Chinchou swam into the electrical chamber of the sub and they electrocuted it with discharge. Phantom's submarine lost all its electricity and the crew didn't know what to do. Last of all Kyogre attacked the sub with hyper beam, destroying the sub and the helicopters. Phantom stood amongst the destruction and revealed that he wore a mecha suit, which explained why he processed brutal strength. "There are two types of men in this world," he said holding a big pillar from his sub, "those who are completely crushed and those who do the crushing. I am not the type who gets crushed". Unfortunately for him his mecha suit broke and he got crushed by the pillar because he no longer had the strength to hold it. So phantom and his crew were defeated.
Ash and Manaphy swam to the mini sub, where Max, Tomo, Brock, May, Jackie, Lizabeth, Pikachu and Growlithe had been in all this time. Everyone was glad to see that Ash and Manaphy were okay. Lizabeth and her family and May, Max, Tomo, Brock and Pikachu got surrounded by the yellow aura and swam underwater with all the wild water pokemon. Growlithe didn't join in due to being a fire type pokemon. Everyone had a great time. Seeing both Manaphy and Samiya safe made Jackie know that that his mission of protecting Manaphy from Phantom was over and he contacted his headquarters and told them the mission was completed.
That evening the big bubble shield surrounded Samiya and it began to make its way under the water. It was time for Manaphy and the temple to leave. Manaphy and May hugged each other one last time because it was time for them to say goodbye to each other. "I'll never forget you Manaphy and don't you forget me either Manaphy" said May, who looked like she was about to cry. "Love you May," said Manaphy "love you Mama". "I love you too Manaphy" replied May. Then Manaphy dived back into the ocean and swam away with the temple, never to be seen again. Max asked his sister if she was okay. May replied saying she wasn't, but she would be. She was going to miss Manaphy a lot, but she would never forget it.
Suddenly Ash remembered something. "I nearly forgot to say this sorry," he said to everyone "when I was still next to the sea crown this came out of it after I put the crystal back". Ash took out a crystal sort of whistle from his pocket. "What would a whistle be doing in the temple?" asked Max. Ash blew into the whistle but nothing, not even a sound, happened. "That whistle must be broken if it doesn't make any sounds" said Lizabeth. May took the whistle and had a go blowing in it. This time it made a light humming sound. "Hey that sounded like Manaphy's singing" said Max. At that moment there was a light glow coming from the ocean, and then a Manaphy came out of the ocean. "What, Manaphy?" said May, in surprise. "Wait that's not our friend Manaphy," said Ash "that's another wild Manaphy". Everyone was surprised. The Manaphy leapt into May's arms. "Hey what are you doing?" asked May. "I think I know," said Ship "you see there is another part of the legend with Manaphy and the people of the water. I never believed this part was true but now it does seem to be true".
Ship explained that in the time of the people of the water, whenever a member of that clan protected the temple of the sea and the Manaphy that person would be rewarded with their own Manaphy by the sea crown. "What?" cried out everyone. "Wait a minute though," said May "Ash was the one who helped put the temple right, shouldn't he have this Manaphy?" "Ash may have helped the sea crown but he is not a descendant of the people of the water," said Ship "and besides May you cared for Manaphy, kept it from harm and did everything you could to help it". "Grandpa is right May," said Lizabeth "besides you were the only one that could make the whistle make a sound, and that Manaphy has become attached to you". May couldn't believe it, but at the same time she was happy. Even though this Manaphy could never really replace the Manaphy which saw her as a mum, she promised to take really good care of it and she hugged it with happiness. So May got to keep a Manaphy after all and this time for always.
And so with Samiya safe, the ocean and all the water pokemon were at peace again. Phantom and his whole crew were arrested by the police and were condemned to stay in prison for life for all the crimes they had done. With the mission complete Jackie could now leave the area to explore somewhere else for his next adventure. Phantom's Chatot was no longer Phantom's pokemon and it became Jackie's pokemon. Team Rocket, who had made it to shore, were relieved to be back on safe dry land again. Lizabeth and her family went back to the port town with the gang, and the gang bid farewell to the family and Gabu, Zabu and Dabu to continue on their journey. As for Manaphy, it lived a new happy life with the water pokemon in Samiya.
I'm so, so sorry for the long wait; I had a lot of trouble with how to get May a Manaphy and other things. I couldn't have her get the Manaphy that hatched from the egg because it was a guardian of the sea temple, and I did say in the second pokemon movie chapter that I'm not fond of having any of the gang get any guardian pokemon. So I finally came up with the idea that May would be rewarded her own Manaphy like Ash was rewarded with his own Lugia. Jessie and James and Meowth should have gone into Phantom's sub as pirates; they had been in situations like that before, especially when the leader would never pay them for their work. I know you readers asked me to have Ash use a pokemon when he delivered the last crystal, but doing that would have been too easy. Ash should have stood up for May to have Jackie not separate May and Manaphy during their time together in the anime movie; his time with Lucario and other pokemon in the past in the anime series didn't last long when they died or left etc. I couldn't have use his psychic power to stop Phantom because as you know having Ash use his powers in front of villains like Phantom is not a good idea because the villains would know and try to use him for their evil deeds. There's no doubt about it; Chatot definitely became Jackie's pokemon after Phantom's defeat.
