"Take your damn shoes off. I just cleaned the floors."

Yusuke held up his hands pulling himself back at the feel of the sword's blade pressing to the side of his neck. "Sheeh man, let a guy at least get inside."

"If you track mud in here," Hiei went on to threaten with a glower.

"Relax man, relax. I know." Yusuke toed his sneakers off which caused Hiei to huff again, muttering a complaint about him not even bothering to untie his laces. But the fire demon retracted his weapon.

Clothed in his usual pants and sleeveless shirt, Hiei stood before his friend with the addition of an apron covering his front and a bandana protecting his hair. Hands on his hips the shorter man continued to glare. "What are you here for? I don't have time for you to loiter, Yusuke. I have things to do."

"Can I take your picture? I gotta send it to the group chat." Yusuke pulled out his phone and snapped a blurry candid, shoving the device back into his pocket immediately at the sound of a growl. "She's really got you by the balls lately huh?"

"Participating in the household isn't an act of subservience. You would know that if you bothered doing the dishes."

"Keiko tell you that?"

"Maybe." Hiei headed into the kitchen to get back to cleaning out the refrigerator. "Shinpi's not here so you can't play her consoles. You'll end up in my way."

"Yeah, yeah." Yusuke made his way to the sink, rolling up his sleeves before diving into the dishes that were leftover from lunch preparation and breakfast. "I do dishes for a living you know? Running a ramen stand has its downsides. Speaking of food, what's with the bento?"

"Bento?" Hiei straightened with brows pulled down.

Both men looked at the lunch left on the counter near the sink. Hiei felt annoyance well up in him. What was the point of him packing food if that woman was just going to forget it all the time? She'd been working in the office more and more lately, keeping her from home, so he'd done his best to make up for her absence. Doing chores made him feel productive and it helped that Shinpi couldn't seem to keep her hands off of him when she saw him cleaning.

There were benefits to being 'her bitch' as Yusuke teasingly called him.

Hiei tossed his bandana onto the kitchen table and closed the fridge door before marching over to the lunch. "I'll be back."

"Uh, someone is here for you." The office secretary approached Shinpi's desk with a look of trepidation. "It's that scary man again."

"Hiei?" Shinpi rose up and nodded following her to the foyer of their floor. "Did he say what he wanted?"

"You forgot your lunch. Again. Idiot." Hiei extended the wrapped bento box to her with an expression that warned of his limited patience. "Do you just go hungry when I'm not around?"

"I eat out when I get hungry, if I need to." She smiled at him. "I'm not accustomed to being pampered this way, darling."

Darling? The group of her coworkers that hovered just behind the door exchanged glances. They'd seen the wild haired man before, always looking sour and never inside the building. He only ever met the woman on the street doing his best not to draw attention to himself.

"Pampered." He snorted. "It's a simple meal, Shinpi. Eat it. And stop forgetting your lunches."

"But if I stop forgetting them you'll stop bringing them to me." She grinned warmly, and expression that brought color to his ears. "I like that my coworkers can see and admire you. You take such good care of me, so showing you off is a privilege."

He does? The others all thought in unison.

He looked like a thug, with his torn up tank top under a stained apron. Not the sort of man who made homemade lunches and hand-delivered them to his...spouse? (They guessed but were too scared to ask).

With an eye roll he shook his head and then tossed her a look, as though he was waiting on something. A vaguely threatening aura radiated off of him until she stepped closer and placed her lips to his cheek with another smile.

"I'll see you at home, darling. I'll pick dinner up on my way home, you should relax. It looks like you've been working hard."

"I just have a few more things to do." He assured her then, his own smile lesser but still present. "Don't be late or I'll come find you."

"Of course."
