"It looks like we're taking a little vacation. Forever" Hiccup said to Toothless. Toothless crooned as if in answer and allowed the viking boy to clamber onto his back. Within seconds they were in the air gracefully soaring away from the isle of Berk.
o
Tailing Hiccup had been easy for a warrior such as Astrid.
She saw him slip between the pair af large grey boulders which marked the entrance to a cove hidden deep in Berks forests. But when she slipped through in pursuit he was nowhere to be seen. This mystified her to say the least.
She new that the very gap between the boulders that she had came through mere seconds ago was the only way in or out of the cove.
That left her with absolutely no theory of where Hiccup had gone. He seemed to have disappeared as if by magic.
In sheer frustration Astrid slung her axe at a nearby tree. It was no coincidence the axe struck the tree, cleaving a deep gash at the height of which Hiccup's head would have been if he had happened to be standing there.
"No one beats me at dragon training. I'll make sure of it." She growled whatever it takes." She added as she stalked of into the forest, her axe held in one hand and the shaft resting against her shoulder.
o
Hiccup and Toothless glided on, riding the air currents with hardly a beat of Toothless's wings.
The seemingly endless expanse of ocean streched out as far as the eye could see in all directions with the exception of one in which a fog bank billowed beside them, concealing the multitude of sea stacks hidden within.
Suddenly Toothless jerked towards the fog bank abruptly and effectively shaking Hiccup from the monotonous state he had entered.
Ahh, the joys of prolonged flying with next to no changes in sight for quite some time.
Dragon calls echoed out of the fog and the realisation at what was happening struck Hiccups head with the subtlety of a thrown warhammer. Toothless was taking him on a possibly one-way trip. Straight to the dragons nest. The very thing vikings had been searching for since the first arrived in the Barbaric Archipelago many generations ago.
His curiosity aroused Hiccup allowed Toothless to carry him ever closer to the nest. Brimmed with a mix of fear and apprehensive anticipation Hiccup listened to the calls of nearby dragons. They sounded closer by the second.
From all sides winged shadows of varying size and shape loomed out of the fog like apparitions. only apparitions usually don't growl or breathe fire or gas, or spew lava or shoot poisonous spines or do anything that dragons do actually Hiccup reflected.
Dragons weren't the only things looming out of the fog. A spooky desolate island of craggy rock loomed out of the darkness directly in front of them.
It was then that Hiccup noticed that all the dragons seemed to have something hanging from their claws.
"It looks like their hauling in the kill." He whispered to himself with rising dread.
The closest dragon to him and Toothless, a bright green Zippleback swung its heads around to eye him beadily.
The Zippleback hissed. It seemed to be considering attacking him but when Toothless snarned back at it, the Zippleback seemed to decide against it, instead it flapping away.
As they continued to draw nearer to the dragons nest Hiccup began to appreciate just how impenetrable and hard to reach this place was.

Stoick the vast awoke happier than most days. Today his son Hiccup would finally become a viking. After all those years of showing an absolute lack of potential he had gone from useless to coming first in dragon training in a week.
Stoick didn't have a clue in the matter of what could have bought such a change over Hiccup, But that wasn't what he cared about, what he cared about was the fact that Hiccup was finally following in his footsteps and beginning the path to become a great great leader.
He stretched his powerful frame causing several loud clicks before stomping of towards Hiccup's room.
He burst into the room and then stopped as Hiccup was nowhere to be seen.
Unsure of where Hiccup was, he decided to simply wait at the ring until he showed up.
o
Hiccup almost screamed at the expected collision which could possibly be a fatal mistake, but instead Toothless soared through a nearly invisible crevice though to Hiccups mind he did seem to be going to fast with a slight disregard for safety.
The crevice they were soaring through suddenly ballooned out into an immense cavern which Hiccup realised to be both the cone of the volcano itself and the dragons nest.
The terror of seeing so many Dragons around him stopped him from fully appreciating the milestone of being The very first viking to ever get to the dragons nest.
