"We need to find the nest and take it." The council of war had been summoned and to their immense displeasure found that Stoick was leading them on let another dangerous mission to Helheims gate on the search for the dragons nest. "We have to finish them or they'll finish us." Stoick went on.
"But chief, don't you think that if it was possible to find the nest we would have found it by now." Spitelout said. "Only the dragons can find the nest."
Stoick got a crafty gleam in his eye. "Only the dragons can find the nest." He rumbled. "Of course! Ready the ships, we leave in the morning. For Helheims gate."

Hiccup and Toothless landed on a small island to spend the night on. The island was dismal with a small wooded area and not much else.
It was cold and the freezing wind tore straight through Hiccups clothes as he set about gathering anough dry wood to make a fire. Toothless then shot a small firebolt at the pile of sticks Hiccup had arranged opon the ground created a small campfire which heated Hiccups chilled flesh.
That night Hiccup and Toothless fell asleep together in the comforting heat of the campfire with Hiccup leaning against Toothless.
In the morning the black dismal remains of the fire that had burned so cheerily the night before lay stone cold apon the ground. Hiccup and Toothless took of towards Berk, Hiccup formulating a plan of action as they went.
They landed in a patch of Berks forests that couldn't be seen from the village which was necessary as if the vikings saw him riding Toothless they would kill Toothless and exile him.
Leaving Toothless in the forest Hiccup walked alone to the village planing to tell them he had simply gotten lost in the forest. He almost hoped that they still thought of him as an accident prone walking disaster just to add credibility to his story but his plan was foiled from the beginning due to an unexpected variable.
He stepped into the village to find it almost completely deserted. Where is everyone? He pondered. The village seemed to have emptied itself in his absence.

All that was left was the young, the old and those who had to care for their young along with a few valued tradesmen.
He raced to the harbour. Nobody saw him as they were tucked up inside their warm homes, sheltering from the cold outside.
Hiccup reached the harbour. It was empty of ships just as he had feared. Obviously they had left. For Helhiems gate.

Astrid saw Hiccup pass. The other teens saw him pass as well as he sprinting to the harbour. They ran after him debating or more accurately, arguing why he hadn't shown up for his final test.
When they found him he was in the harbour staring forlornly out at the ocean in mute desperation.
Astrid still didn't know what to think. He had beaten her in dragon training but hadn't attended, never mind completed his final test.
The other teens all started shooting questions at him but he answered none. Instead he whipped his head around to face them and immediately turned and ran straight towards the forest. They all gave chase and though Hiccup was never particularly fast they lost him amongst the trees.
Astrid was just telling to fan out when an inhuman roar sounded through the trees and a big, black... something leapt out of the trees. They all saw that in that something's back there was a someone. The teens faces all wore the same expression of astonishment.

The fleet of ships glided through the water parallel to the towering fog bank. Stoick looking around.
"Take us in." He said grimly. "To Helhiem gate."The fleet of Viking war vessels turned in unison straight into the fog bank.
Stoick new that many of his men thought that this mission would turn out the same as all the other missions to find the dragons nest. That they would be attacked and have no success. But this time it would be different, because this time he had brought a dragon from the ring to show them the way.
