Tony was awake when Peter woke up. Tony massaged the back of Peters hair, combing his fingers through the brown curls.
"How do you feel?" Tony asked.
"I'm a little sore, but I feel fine."
Tony smiled and had the doctor come check up on Peter.
"I've been thinking of something." Tony said, looking at Peter. "Maybe you should have your own room here, for when you're staying over?"
Peter nodded, excited about Tony wanting him to have a room. He looked at Tony and asked when they could start decorating. Tony chuckled
"Let's wait till you've healed." He said.
"But Mr. Stark! I'm fine! Really! I'll even walk to prove it to you!" Peter tried your get up but Tony held him down. Peter sighed.
"We can start when we've got a go." He smiles and looked at the doctor. She nodded.
"As long as he's careful."
"Yay!" Peter exclaimed and nearly jumped up from the bed. Tony stopped him again and got up to support Peter's weight. Told him that he had to be careful.
They finally made it to the room that was soon gonna be Peter's and Tony spread some plastic out over the floor. He fetched a few cans of paint and some brushes and a chair for Peter. And so they painted in comfortable silence. A smile was stuck to Peter's face the entire time and it warmed Tony's heart.
Suddenly Tony felt something wet seeping through his pant leg and he looked down seeing Peter painting the leg white. So Tony took his brush and painted a blue stripe over Peter's brown curls.
Peter giggled and put more paint on his brush and that's when hell broke out. The two of them splattered paint onto each other and it got everywhere. Clothes, skin and hair. It was a mess. A fun mess. Peter's happy squeaks filled the room and melted together with Tony's laughter. Tony wouldn't give this up for anything in the entire world.
"Okay! Okay!" Tony yelled. "That's enough! That's enough! It was fun, but now is the time to stop!"
Peter nodded, obeying Tony who then ruffled his hair.
"Hit the shower, okay?" Tony smiled, explaining that he would be in the lab if anything was needed and so he headed off.
It only took ten minutes for Peter to show up in the lab, still in the messy, painted clothes. Tony looked up smiling at Peter.
"You good, kiddo?" He asked and continued working. Taking his gaze off Peter.
"I uhh... I don't know how to shower without getting paint in my stitches.." Peter's voice was quiet and embarrassed. Tony looked at him with that blank look where you had no idea what he was gonna say. Wether he was angry for some reason or if he was gonna tease you. Peter felt his nervousness grow.
"Okay. We'll have to fix that then." Tony finally said giving a small smile which relieved Peter. Tony wrapped his arm around Peter's shoulder and guided him to the bathroom.
"Shirt and pants off. Underwear can stay on."
Peter did so. Stripping off with Tony's help. Tony helped Peter sit down in front of the bathtub.
"Alright kid. I'm gonna need you to place your elbows on the edge of the tub and hold yourself up. You're gonna have to hang your head over the edge. Can you do that?"
Peter gave a hesistant nod and did as Tony told him to. Tony mumbled a quiet praise and grabbed the shower head, gently using one hand to comb through Peter's painted curls as he wet them carefully. He then massaged shampoo into the roots and started washing it out.
"Mr. Stark.." Peter whimpered. "My stomach hurts.. my stitches they... I don't think I can hold on.."
"You're almost there, kid. Don't give up yet." Tony finished as fast as he could, dropping the shower head into the tub and grabbed Peter under his armpits to help support the weight.
"You're gonna have to step into the bathtub now kid, then I'll get the paint off your body with a cloth."
Peter obeyed even though he didn't want to keep going. Tony washes his body over as fast as he could and helped him out of the tub, wrapping the boy up in a towel.
"I'm gonna check your stitches okay?" Tony said, not waiting for a response as he gently peeled off the thick bandaid. Peter winced and let out a yelp as he did so.
"It's infectious.." Tony mumbled, and Peter stared at him with wide eyes. Tony noticed the scared look on the boy's face.
"I'll get you some antibiotics. You'll be okay. It's not serious."
Tony left Peter on the bathroom tiles and went to get the pills. When he came back he saw Peter sobbing.
"Hey," Tony said. "Listen to me. You're okay. Do not panic. This happens. It's gonna be okay. You're not in danger."
Peter looked at him, wiping his cheeks as Tony handed him a glass of water and the pills along with it.
"Okay. Bed time." Tony said as Peter swallowed the pills. Tony carried Peter to his bedroom and laid him on the bed, tugging him in. Reassuring him that everything was okay. And so he left the room, heading to the lab.
