Jedi Knight Aayla Secura had finally been chosen to train a padawan. The young, blue-skinned Twi'lek had been a full fledged knight for several years now, and she wanted to teach another what Quinlan Vos taught her. Now that she had been given the chance, she wouldn't let it go.

I walked down the halls of the dorms in the Jedi Temple until I reached my best friend's door. I knocked and almost immediately, my best friend Ahsoka walked out.

"So," she said, "you ready for the big day?"

"I hope so." I replied. Today was the day we would meet the Jedi who would train us as Padawans. Ahsoka and I had been brought to the Jedi Temple on the same day, and we would be apprenticed on the same day… just luck? Anyway, we slowly made our way to the council chambers. We had both already passed our Initiate trials and we both chose to advance to the rank of Padawan.

When we reached the doors to the council chambers, we saw a handful of Jedi Knights down the hall and a few padawans waiting outside the door.

Oh, I thought, we have to wait. Patience is not a skill that comes naturally to me. After a while, Ahsoka's name is called and she leaves. They must exit out of a side door because she doesn't come back out.

After what feels like a lifetime, I faintly hear my name.

"Akirah? Akirah Canis?"

Shaking, I walk into the room. Why am I scared? I thought, it's not like I'm in trouble or anything. I walk through the doors, and standing in the middle of the room is a blue skinned Twi'lek who I assume is my Master.

"Knight Secura," the voice came from Grand Master Yoda, "your padawan Akirah will be."

I got back to my dorm room, changed into less formal robes, and went to find Ahsoka. She was in her room and she was expecting my question before I asked it.

"Anakin Skywalker," She responded and smiled at my momentary confusion, "you?"

"Aayla Secura." Ahsoka nodded.

"Hey, our masters have the same initials." I thought aloud. Ahsoka and I looked at eachother and bursted out laughing at the idiocy of the statement.

"It's true though!" I pointed out indignantly.

"Yeah, if only your last name started with a 'T'!"

We laughed again, but only until I heard my comlink beep faintly.

"Akirah, come to the temple gardens."

I shrugged at Ahsoka and left.

Walking onto one of the paths, I scanned the area and found Master Secura kneeling in the sunlight by a small pond. Without opening her eyes or talking, she motioned for me to sit with her. Suddenly, she opened her deep brown eyes and looked right at me. When she spoke, it wasn't with the usual formality of Knights or Masters to padawans, but with a kind, soft voice.

"I'm sure you want to learn about me, young one." She said softly.

"I guess so..." I trailed off, not really knowing what to say.

"Alright. You know my name is Aayla Secura. I am 29 years old, and I was Knighted 4 years ago."

I figured I should say something, so I did.

"My name's Akirah, or just Kyr, Canis, and I'm going to be 15 soon. I was brought to the temple almost 12 years ago on the same day as my friend Ahsoka."

Master Secura nodded and her eyes trailed to the lightsaber at my hip. She looked back at me and nodded again. I wanted to go to the training rooms, of course she knew; I had unwittingly let down my mental guard. We stood up and made for the training rooms.
