In the training rooms, there were a few younglings and a padawan.
"Ahsoka!"
I called out to my friend before turning red when I realized everyone in the room could hear me. Ahsoka's master looked at me then talked to Ahsoka for a second. Walking over to me, Ahsoka said, "Hey! Master Skywalker said we could practice together… If it's alright with you." with a glance at my Master. I looked at her.
"Go." She said with a small nod. I smiled and narrowed my eyes, trying to open myself to the force.
I reached for the familiar metal handle and grabbed it just as Ahsoka pulled out her green and yellow lightsabers. I quickly blocked her then spun to land a strike of my own which she deflected with one of her sabers. We dueled back and forth, neither gaining the upper hand until she tripped me. I lost my grip on my lightsaber and saw its familiar blue blade retract. Ahsoka stood over me and pointed her saber at my neck.
"You're beaten." she said triumphantly.
"I don't think so." I smirked and motioned with my head. I held my unignited lightsaber an inch from her stomach. Stalemate.
In that moment of confusion, I backflipped over her and, using the Force, I called another saber from the spares into my hand. I wasn't very good at fighting with two sabers, but I did the best I could; I blocked with one and attacked with the other. I spun around, blades flashing, and ran towards my friend preparing to jump. Ahsoka jumped, too and we collided in midair. By now our bodies were streaming with sweat. Panting, I whirled around and faced Ahsoka again. My hair was wet with sweat and my padawan braid hit me in the face as I spun. My friend managed to laugh at my blunder between panting breaths. Trying to catch our breaths, we both insulted each other as a break.
"So, Kyr, is that all you have?" Ahsoka smirked.
"Well, if you wanna find out, come and get me… Togruta."
Calling someone by their species is the ultimate insult. Ahsoka launched herself at me. I ducked and brought my blade up behind me to block the attack I knew was coming. It didn't. I spun around and saw Ahsoka locked in combat with her master. I turned around again and saw Master Secura pulling out her weapon. Within a second, Ahsoka and I were back to back.
" 'Nother lesson, younglings. Just when you think you're done, there are two new enemies." Master Skywalker said.
Unbeknownst to us, while we were fighting, our masters were watching, whispering about our techniques, and discussing when to intervene. Now, all I could think of were the defensive maneuvers I'd learned. Ahsoka and I turned, our backs touching each other as a constant reminder that we were together. Ahsoka grunted as our masters forced us to separate. They then assumed a defensive position. I could barely breathe; I was so tired. I focused my energy and used the Force to refocus my strength. I struck hard and tried to best my master's defenses. I couldn't, of course. I looked over at my friend and saw that she was equally tired. She nodded, and we both deactivated our lightsabers.
"Well played, young ones." Master Skywalker said, genuinely impressed.
"Now you two can head to the 'fresher." Master Secura said, and we smiled.
I sat down onto my bed with a fresh set of robes on. My wet hair dripped down my back and I quickly pulled it up into its usual style, leaving my padawan braid out. I put on my belt and walked out of my room.
I walked towards the communal dining area of the Temple and quite literally ran into my master.
"Akirah," she said, "You fought well today."
"Thanks, Master. I'm starving now though." Master Secura Laughed, and we walked towards the mess hall together.
