PERCY'S POV

"Percy, you know everything you've learned in Greek Myth class? Well... they're all true. Gods and monsters… they exist. And if you can see them through the mist, you're most likely a demigod," Annabeth explained, watching my expression.

My brain was going haywire. I was trying to comprehend this new information but all I could think about was the monster I had killed and the sword that was still in my hand.

I tapped the butt of my sword and like clockwork, the celestial sword retracted into a pen. Okay, way cool.

"Demigod? As in half mortal half god?"

Annabeth nodded. "One of your parents likely met a god or goddess sometime in their life and had… you. Demigods all have some sort of power or skill set given to them by their godly parent."

My eyes moved from Annabeth to . As crazy as the idea seemed, it oddly made a lot of sense. I pictured my mother's distanced gaze whenever I brought up my father and how she'd tell me he was lost out at sea. I pictured my lack of interest at school and how my attention span always felt extremely short. I pictured how my mother would fidget every time we were out alone and how nervous she felt when something odd appeared on the news.

"So is like a demigod too?"

He chuckled before he lifted himself up from his wheelchair. As he stood up, his feet seemed to disappear. Or well his lack of feet, should I say. Instead of feet, there were hooves. was a horse or half man half horse. From the waist down, he had a horse's body.

"I'm a centaur Percy but call me Chiron," he said as if reading my mind.

Woah, this was real.

"I'm the daughter of Athena," Annabeth said.

I racked my Greek myth brain to remember which goddess she was. Athena, the goddess of wisdom and strategy. It was the epitome of Annabeth and her intelligence. I looked into her stormy gray eyes and I could tell her brain was planning for battle.

"Chiron, they were looking for Percy. I don't like this one bit but I think we're going to have to take him to camp. He needs proper training and knowledge before we can see what we're up against."

"You're right. The sooner we leave, the safer he'll be. I notified Grover earlier to let Sally know of the situation. Grover will bring over his belongings. I'll bend the mist and let the principal know."

I turned my head fast. "Wait, my mother knows about this? And who's Grover and the mist?"

Chiron waved his hand off while Annabeth gave a curt nod.

"C'mon seaweed brain, I'll explain to you as we go. But right now, you're going to have to follow and listen to me."

I surveyed the situation and saw 's reassuring nod. With a sigh, I followed Annabeth out of the school while she explained to me. The mist was apparently a sort of camouflage against the naked mortal eye. It changed magic and godly activities to events humans would understand. My mother, Sally, had apparently known I was "special" or a demigod since I was born and tried to shield me as long as possible. She didn't tell me who my father was in order to delay monsters from coming. Grover was a satyr sent to protect me since a year ago when he noticed signs I wasn't completely human.

The sound of Annabeth's whistle pierced the air as a chariot suddenly appeared from thin air. There were two beautiful pegasuses attached to the hem and they whimpered, waiting for Annabeth's command.

"We found a chariot during one of our quests last summer and the Hephaestus cabin altered it a bit for emergency transport. I'd say this is an emergency, don't you think?"

I stepped on the chariot and noticed there were no safety belts. Annabeth got on after me and the pegasuses set off. "Oh boy," I thought. I took a deep breath. A couple of deep breaths. Being in the air was never something I usually liked to do. My mother was always busy working part-time shifts being a single mother and we've never traveled, much less been on an airplane.

Although I didn't like being in the air, the view literally took my breath away. I could see clouds and beneath the clouds, I saw skyscrapers and buildings that seemed to float away. Bodies of water glistened below and in a flash, the chariot halted on the grass.

At first, there seemed to be nothing in the landscape. But as I looked past a pine tree, I saw cabins and teenagers around my age. I heard laughter and the clinking of metal. It felt like a summer camp, parents would send their kids off with camp counselors and activities. The foreign air felt strangely comfortable.

"Welcome to Camp Half-Blood Hill," Annabeth said, a welcoming smile on her face.

I decided I liked her smile. I gave her a wary smile back as I stepped past the barrier, forgetting how my biggest worry 24 hours ago seemed to be whether or not I would pass my next Gatsby test.

A/N: This chapter was a slight filler where Percy is introduced to the world of demigods so it is more explanatory than action! Again, it's my version of a retelling of Percy's adventures of sorts so I hope it's interesting! To think Percy's biggest obstacle before this was passing his English lit class. I love reading your thoughts so leave a review & stay tuned for Chapter 4!
