Chapter 2
"Izuku! You'll become a number one hero and make me proud!"
Yes! I will!
"Why are you quirkless? FUCKING USELESS!"
Wait! Don't leave me!
"You're nothing but a garbage."
Don't hate me! Please!
"Do you think you can save people? You make me laugh. You should just die."
...
"Why are you even alive?"
"WHY? BECAUSE I AM HERE!"
The voice of all might shook Midoriya's brain. Heavy breathing choked his lungs. "Who was that?..." Mixture of tear and sweat trickled down his cheeks. Hands and finger were trembling. Echoes of the conversation still lingered. He didn't know the person, yet the negative words pierced his heart. Even when Bakugo called him out, it wasn't the same. He shook his head, sat up from the bed, looking at himself in his uniform. "Huh?" Slightly crumpled white dress shirt brought back his memory from yesterday. 'That's right, I fainted...yesterday.' Midoriya's cheeks flushed in bright tomato with the flashback of himself falling in to his childhood's arm.
Knock! Knock
Midoriya's eyes darted to the door. Surprised to have a guest at such early time. "I'm coming!" He opened the door to see Uraraka, Iida, and Torodorki; standing there with a morning smile. (Todoroki seems stoic as ever though) "Deku kun! you're up! How are you doing?...You're so red!" Iida grabbed his shoulder worriedly; "Are you still sick? Fever? Nauseous?"
"Eh!...Ah! Nonononono..Ummm...I'm alright. Hahaha Uraraka san, Iida kun and Todoroki kun good morning... " Flustered Midoriya hid his face, still embarrassed remembering that moment he had with Bakugo. "I'll change quick do you mind waiting outside for a moment?" The three nodded, closed the doors, changed quickly, and ran out to meet the three.
"Sorry to make you wait." As they started walking Uraraka awkwardly asked; "Deku kun, did u have a weird dream last night?"
"Eh!? Did I say something weird?"
"Ahh...NONO, you seemed like you were having nightmare." Uraraka answered. Midoriya went to his mumbling habit, making Iida and Uraraka smile. Glad to see their friend back to usual. "Hey Midoriya?" Todoroki interrupted straightforwardly. "Yes?"
"What's your relationship with Bakugo?" Midoriya's foot stopped. "Wha-wha-what d-d-d-do yo-you mean!?" Red shade appeared, quickly covering his face to hide. Todoroki stood there, still stoically waiting for his answers. From the side, Iida and Uraraka face-palmed themselves. Scared to show that they are acting weird because of yesterday but how innocently did he asked such question. 'What kind of question is that!'
"So...?" Midoriya's brain circled around; 'Childhood friend...Rival? Friends?...NONONONONONO. That's never going to happen.' ,giving him few ideas of what the relationship was with the explosive blond. After the true fight with him, Midoriya seem to look at Bakugo very dearly. He finally acquired the title as a rival. Yet it wasn't enough. His heart was never satisfied with whatever that was. Searching for the closest answer, he answered Todoroki.
"W-We are just childhood friends!"
"How long have you known him?"
"Hmm...Probably since early kindergarten."
"Probably?"
"I'm not really sure, my memory seemed vague around that time." Midoriya pondered.
"Hmmm. I see." The conversation had brought to their classroom. Arriving to the class seemed faster than usual. Midoriya's mind occupied with what he said. 'Memory?...When have I know Kacchan? When and where did I meet him? School?...No even before that...' Small pain electrified his mind. Shuddering slightly. 'What was that?' He thought.
"Midoriya chan!/Midoriya!/Midoriya san!" All the student in the class gathered around, giving him a big relief and worries. "Are you alright now Midoriya chan?" Asui started. "When we saw you yesterday behind Bakugou's back, we were so worried!" Kirishima dragged his arm around Midoriya's neck. Pulling him close.
"Sorry...Eh! Kacchan?"
"Yea! He carried you behind his back, you were unconscious! He was pissed off too. Scary." Kaminari explained. Midoriya immediately looked at the direction of Bakugo's desk, surprised to see no one there. "Where's Kacchan?"
"Ah! He went somewhere, saying that he had stuff to do!" Kirishima answered. The students went back to their own conversation while Midoriya wondered. Hearing that he wasn't here, Midoriya heart sank. 'Oh Where did he go?...I wish he come back soon...Wait...Wait why do I sound like a girl who is feeling lonely...NONONO' He shook the thought away, feeling little sad and confused.
Meanwhile, Bakugo was heading towards the staff room. Looking for a certain teacher. "HEY!" He stood in front of one desk. "Bakugo..." Aizawa turned his head, staring at the blonde. "What are you doing here?"
"I have something to ask. Not here."
"Ask me later, i'm busy."
"Now." With a bossy attitude, Bakugo glared. Aizawa sighed, amazed by how high and mighty he can be to anyone. He stood up and followed the boy outside. "...So?" Bakugo looked into his yes serious. "What did you and that guy talk about after class yesterday?" The serious tone in the blonde's voice gave the teacher better attention. "That guy?" By not getting the immediate response, Bakugo lost his patience. "HIM! DEKU!"
"Oh,Midoriya?..." Aizawa looked at Bakugo intently, who was losing it's temper every second. 'This guy...' Aizawa sighed. "This is a private matter, just because you guys are close I cannot just tell you things we talked about. Nothing to worry about. It wasn't a big deal." The irritated blonde snapped; "I AIN'T CLOSE TO THAT NERD! AND DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO! TELL ME NOW!" The pause between the two man seemed so long, once again he sighed. "...I guess it's fine..."
"HUH!?" Bakugo's eyes turned serious and calm once he saw Aizawa's eyes. "If you're that worried, let me tell you. Midoriya's focus hasn't been well these few days."
"AIN'T ASKING BOUT THAT! I knew that, that's why i'm asking."
"...Just let me finish. So I was just talking to him what was wrong."
"That's it? What did Deku say?"
"He mumbled some things that did bother me; which he has been having headaches and sleep depravity."
"Hah? Say that earlier!"
"Something is up with him, and this is not because of the Shie Hassaikai's incident. I can guarantee that."
"How do y-"
"When I asked, he just smiled. Nothing else...Bakugo, if you're that worried make sure you keep eye on him." With that he left, no room for Bakugo to talk back. "Why do I have to be his fuckin' babysitter" Annoyance was in his voice yet he wasn't specifically uninterested.
Once he got back to the classroom, everyone acted normal except one. Midoriya Izuku's mind seem above the clouds, neither talking or doing anything. His eyes just stuck towards the other side of the window. Even Bakugo felt weird not hearing him mumble, nor interact. The day went by fast with the last bell and Bakugo's mind occupied with thoughts about Deku. Once the teacher left the class, green head silently packed his things quickly with deep thought in process, failing to hear whats in front of him. "Hey...hey...Deku!...Tsk'...Izuku!" Midoriya's head swung forward towards the owner of the voice. Bakugo's vexed face was right in front of him. Surprised to hear his first name from his childhood friend's mouth, he couldn't hide his embarrassment burying his face in his own arms. "Deku stop ignoring me! You shit nerd!" While spewing roughly Bakugo smirked, slightly satisfied to see his Deku to show sincere emotions in front of him. Also happy with the fact that he was the one who did it. "Ka-Kacchan, you scared me." His eyes still not meeting the other while he picks up his bag and tries to run away. As he stood up with maximum speed, two figure stood in front of Bakugo intercepting his reach towards the other. Midoriya looked away apologetically and used the chance to run away. Midoriya did not know how to face any of his classmate right now with his muddy feeling that bothered his mind for the whole day. It wasn't a easy task to hand out the smile that he has been trying to reassure his friends. But mostly he didn't know how to NOT lose composure in front of the blonde head.
"Bakugo kun, can we talk for a minute?" Uraraka perked Bakugo's attention, losing the chance to follow the latter. "If you can come with us..." Iida spoke quietly. Bakugo's patience snapped, already furious with things not going his way "SHUT UP! Why don't you shits ask me right here and now." It wasn't a question, statement if you call it. Bakugo knew what their plan was. Without any backup, Uraraka and Iida paused. The class too begin to watch the exchange. "But..."
"But or But. You three wants to know something about Deku? Then i'm sorry it's fucking useless to ask me since I don't give a shit about him." Bakugo looked away, packing his bag ready to go. "Hey, you are worried too right?" Behind the two, harshly questioned Bakugo. Todoroki stepped forward, looking down on the blonde with heterochromatic eyes. "Why do I have to be worried for that shit nerd?"
"You were there yesterday...by the corners." Bakugo's eyes widened, still leaving the rest of the class including two behind with confusion. The air between the two was thick as Bakugo glared at the other. "Todoroki kun, what do you mean?" Iida questioned. "He was listening to our conversation yesterday night. He was there the whole time. That means you are worried about Midoriya right?" Those words pierced Bakugo. He wasn't worried about that nerd. He just hated that Deku he knew was no more. The more he looks at him properly, he doesn't know what he is thinking. Giving just a slight hint, never an answer. Todoroki stared into Bakugo's eyes. Within a second, everyone heard a sound snap. Viciously standing up with chair thrown aside. "SO WHAT? GET THE FUCK OUTTA MY WAY! DON'T LOOK DOWN ON ME!"
"What is this about?" Kirishima butted in curious, also to calm Bakugo down. Todoroki without any restraints answered. "Midoriya is acting weird. We want to know what it is. We are just worried...And since Bakugo knows him more than anyone here, we are asking him about Midoriya." Even though he'd been told to keep it within the three, Todoroki knew that it wasn't right. His heart told him that this was the right time to tell everyone. He glanced over the two, comprehending that Uraraka and Iida also felt the same. "Why didn't you ask Deku yourselves? If you push him, he could've answered you." Bakugo's tone was calm yet intimidating. "Even if we did, he won't tell us! He always smile at everything, even if he is facing hard times. How can we hurt him by forcing him to tell us?!" Uraraka slammed the table, on verge of tears. Iida carefully caressed her back, calming her down. The rest of the class caught up, knowing that it was about Midoriya, and it was something that related to Midoriya's awkwardness these past few days. Some of the girls gently comforted Uraraka. Calming her down. "...So you're saying discussing behind his back is justified because you're doing it for his sake. HA, WHAT A JOKE!" Bakugo kicked the desk with loud slam that came along with. "Hey! That's going too far Bakugo. She must have been worried too." Kirishima stood between Bakugo and Todoroki. The air fell heavy as nobody dare to interrupt.
"It's true that we are satisfying ourselves by solving what Midoriya's been going through. Without his permission. But we can't be blamed for worrying about him." Todoroki countered. Uraraka and Iida both zipped it's mouth, feeling a slight guilt. Bakugo clicked his tongue, signaling towards the rest of the class. Iida, Uraraka and Todoroki looked towards the end side of Bakugo's gaze. There was class 1-A looking depressed and worried sick, as much as the three were. Immediately meaning behind the words that Bakugo meant shown throughout. "Ochako chan, I know you wanted to keep it to yourselves for the sake of his privacy. But we are...Me too..I noticed the different feeling from Midoriya chan and we're worried about it." The voice out of Asui Tsuyu encouraged the rest to open it up. "That's right, don't look down on us, whether we knew or not, if there is someone in need, helping out is what hero do. Right?" Kaminari smiled. Lifting the tension once again. Jiro and Sato laughed all together, praising the electric boy for saying such cool cheesy lines.
Soon after, Todoroki and Uraraka and Iida opened it's opportunity to explain the situation to the class. It was one of the big commotion as Midoriya was indeed the core of the class and for him to lose his sincere smile was a big problem. He was someone who would sacrifice himself for the other. By the side, Bakugo was still irritated. Class all came together to discuss the continuation from the dorm lounge. "Maybe he had some past trauma?" When mentioned everyone stared at Bakugo. No offense, they still had the bully image between the two. "How long have you known Midoriya?" The class curious to the same question as their relationship with the green head was extremely terrible from the beginning of their highschool. "...SINCE WE WERE FUCKIN' BABY ASSHOLE!" Honestly but rudely he answered. "Since you were born...?...WHAT! Wow...why are you guys such bad terms?" For the answer Bakugo just kept his mouth shut as for that relates extremely to All Might's secret [One for All] as well as the current suppressing emotions that he has been facing. The hot air flushed his mind, wanting to explode any minute. "Hey, but Midoriya doesn't remember when he met you...Isn't that weird?" Todoroki's words opened Bakugo's eyes. "That's a fucking lie! That shit nerd doesn't remem-..." He paused and stood there inconceivably. The quick flashback appeared in his mind.
"Kacchan!" Small green lock reflected in his scarlet eyes. "Izuku! You're late!" The boy arrogantly stated. The apologetic green head, smiled and hugged the other. The blond embrace him back tightly. Flash of purple wound attracted his eyes. "Izuku, what is this." The taller boy poked the wounded area, Izuku winced and fell back on his bum. Tears slowly forming in his eyes. Kacchan studied Izuku, locating few other wounds. "...Izuku, are you hurt?" Izuku's eyes widened in fear. "N-n-no!" He shook his head violently. Still young as they are, Bakugo knew by instinct: The instinct of wanting to protect the precious ones. He softly embraced the small latter once again, drifting the two in peace. Once Izuku's tears dried up, the two begun their exploration once again. Heading towards the isolated park, deep in the back to their secret base.
"Izuku, don't forget." Bakugo took his hand, "Forget what Kacchan?"
"That I am your hero! No matter where you are, I will find you." Wide smile appeared, and like a domino effect Izuku smiled back.
'Doesn't remember?...Past?...We were always together. No matter where we were, or when...Wait...Trauma...?' The memory with Midoriya that still stuck in the back of his mind played its puzzle game. Bakugo began to piece the puzzles together. Leaving with one possible answer.
"SHIT!" Pushing others aside, he dashed out the door. "Bakugo! Where are you going?" Kirishima yelled, but by the time, he was nowhere to be seen. Todoroki, Uraraka, Kirishima, and Iida immediately chased after the blonde head. Asui also was eager to follow the rest but before that she also was worried about Midoriya himself. "We should look for Midoriya chan...I don't have any good feeling about this." As she stated, the rest of the class divided in groups to find Midoriya. Bakugo could hear his heart beating crazy, unstable breathing drained his energy. He knew that some of his classmates was following him but that did not matter at this point. He had to hurry to make sure that what he realized was not true. The foot stopped at a certain door of certain apartment. Very nostalgic and has been a while for him to be here. He settled his breathing before he rang the doorbell, and few moments later the front door creaked. The long jade locks flattered by the light breeze. "Ara, Katsuki kun!" Bright smile that reminded him the green latter. With a polite bow, Bakugo answered "Long time no see. Auntie." The rest of the class finally caught up. In front of them stood the blond and in front of him was a lady who looked like Midoriya. "Bakugo?" The voice reached to the two figures. No question asked, the lady answered. "Are you Izuku's classmates?" While the rest stood there motionless, Iida quickly responded. "Hello, you must be Midoriya kun's mother? My name is Iida Tenya, this is Uraraka kun, Kirishima kun and Todoroki kun." Iida bowed low as he can go, while rest followed his movement.
"Katsuki!" The name shocked everyone; the voice sounded husky and straightforward. Behind Midoriya Inko came out another blonde head woman. Bright smile on her face, but still sharp and spiky like Bakugo. "Bakugo's mother?!" The blonde turned to his classmates and smiled widely. "Thats right! Nice to meet you. My name is Bakugo Mitsuki!" The two looked alike but his mother seemed more honest and nice, while Bakugo was always violent and dishonest. Murmur immediately stopped once the young Bakugo glared harshly at the classmates. "Katsuki what are you doing here? It's rare to see you here."
"Old Ha-" He felt the sudden shiver down his spine, feeling the pressure of his mother from above. "Tsk...So I have a question I wanted to ask Auntie Inko."
"What a great timing. I was going to go back to my house with Inko. You should come with us...And your classmates too. Is that okay Inko?" Inko nodded with scrunched up smile. The mothers of Midoriya and Bakugo walked towards the house of Bakugo. Behind, the class was following them quietly. Some were starting to feel awkward. "Are we a bother? Sorry to follow you without permission..." Kirishima checked in with the blonde boy who was walking in the front line. "I don't care. You care about that shit nerd as a friend right?" Kirishima smiled, and everyone who heard that released the sigh of relief. Too scary to confront the young man in front, but still everyone knew that he was just hiding his embarrassment. It didn't take that long as they arrived to his house. Mitsuki turned and welcomed the four as well as her own son. The place wasn't as big and luxurious as Yaoyorozu but it was indeed a big house.
They entered the house, curiously looking around. Unlikely of stereotypical Bakugo, the house was very casual yet neat and clean. "I just need to ask a question. I need to go back after this." Bakugo stood there at the doorway, confronting the two mothers. "Katsuki kun...What was that you needed to ask me?" Inko stepped in front of Bakugo. "De-Izuku, was he...abused by someone in the past...?" Bakugo winced at the fact that he too was bullying him. Even if it was out of insecurity, he couldn't get rid of the guilt behind. The four people behind him was surprised by the fact that this hot headed blond man to call Midoriya in his first name. Moreover from what he just said, unbelievable in their ears. Inko let her mouth open, but no words came out. The tears that seemed to be held back since Bakugo saw her fell continuously. The crying face was exactly duplicate of the young Midoriya. Mitsuki who was right beside her held her shoulders, pulling her close for comfort. "What make you think that Katsuki." Mitsuki looked at her son. From her tone of voice, Bakugo knew that something was going on.
"Mrs. Midoriya, Mrs. Bakugo...When I asked Midoriya, he doesn't remember when or where he met Bakugou...I find that very weird..." Todoroki followed quickly with the conversation. It was a minute of pause, until Inko calmed down. She clenched her handkerchief. "Katsuki kun...everyone, this is something Izuku himself doesn't know. I will tell you..." Inko forced her smile. "Is that alright?" Mitsuki asked worriedly. "I was planning to talk about this with you today."
Mitsuki welcomed his son's friends inside (he is complaining that they're not his friends though). In the spacious living room five kids sat down on to the couch. On the other side was two mothers. "...So what's going on?" Bakugo spoke as gentle as possible to Midoriya Inko. Her tears on verge of overflowing again, Mitsuki spoke instead. "Katsuki, he doesn't have any memories until 6 years old."
"Why."
"It's all because of Hisashi."
"Hisashi?"
"Izuku's father" Trembling voice answered.
"Father?" Iida slipped out a word. "What's wrong?" Mitsuki asked.
"Ah...Ummm...Not to intrupt but last night when Iida kun and I was in Deku kun's room, he was..ummm asleep. He was calling for his father, rather it seemed like he was having a nightmare." Uraraka's voice was nervous, biting side of her inside mouth to stop her trembling. " Inko came up to Uraraka, gave her a .warm embrace.
"...I will tell you all of what happened to Izuku in the past."
