Chapter 4

"Mom, mom can you turn on the computer again!" Curly hair boy flushed with excitement pulled the hedge of his mother's apron . "Izuku, again? Alright." With a big smile on her face, she walked up to his father room to the computer. Turning on Izuku's favourite video. The heroic incident of All Might rescuing uncountable people from the disaster. Izuku sat on the over-sized chair and with mimicking laughter, he repeated the video over and over. For Izuku's mother, that was a pleasant happiness that happened everyday. Izuku was frail and he didn't have much talent. But she knew that he was someone who never forget to smile. His smile bring others happiness. He will become a wonderful hero.

Until the nightmare started...

Midoriya Izuku was the only one in the kindergarten class who did not develop his quirk. No signs whatsoever. Maybe there might be something wrong...So Inko and Izuku went for a visit to check in with the doctor. "Doctor..." Inko looked at the doctor with the last string of hope. However, all she received was a shake of his head sideways, insisting the answer [NO]. It was obvious that he was born quirkless. Izuku who sat beside her froze, as if his heart, this world had frozen in time. It was too much of a shock. Without question to ask anymore, mother and son went back home.
"Mom, I can be a hero too right?..Like All Might...He can save many people and overcome with a smile you know..." The words broke Inko's heart. She couldn't do anything, anything to change...The time simply pass by, shock covering Izuku's heart. However Izuku was not overwhelmed in despair, as his childhood friend stood by his side, giving light to his heart. Inko was grateful for Bakugo family standing by their side in tough situations. Although there was a doubt in Inko that one person would never accept Izuku was his
father. He was a gentle person yet he was infatuated with strength abnormally. Since himself didn't have the best quirk, he dedicated his dream to his own son.

Midoriya Hisashi was on the way home. He was excited since he will be able to see him family in a long time. Especially Izuku who inherited Hisashi's dream; dream where he would be a top hero. Developed into amazing quirk and a image of him being accepted in the most famous highschool in Japan: UA Highschool, was something he had always talked about in the family. Hoping that his son has already developed his quirk that surpass his own. As he enter the door way, Inko welcomed her husband. "Welcome home honey. How was your trip?" He smiled and gave her a peck, claiming that it was one of the longest job he had taken and he had finally got some long time off from work. Hisashi looked around to see his son. "Where is Izuku?" Inko winced at the question, avoiding Hisashi's eyes. "Izuku went out to play with...Katsuki kun."

"Oh, Bakugo family's? I hope Izuku can come home sooner. I can't wait to see his quirk! I was talking to my co-worker about Izuku. He said he wants to know what kind of amazing quirk he have!" Hisashi handed his bag to Inko sat down on the chair by the dining table. Looking at her husband pained her as she clenched her palm. "Honey...Izuku is..q-" The door creaked open. With a cheerful voice, "Mom! I'm home. You know? Kacchan and..." Izuku stood there with gaping surprise. "Father!" He ran up to the suited man with a big warm welcome hug. "Welcome home father!" Hisashi also overjoyed to see his son but also was more excited to see his quirk. "Izuku! Show me your quirk. I had bragged about it in my co-worker that I am going to have an amazing son with amazing quirk!" Izuku flinched, it was still fresh wound, dug deep into his heart. "Father...I..." Perplexed expression appeared on Hisashi as he turned towards Inko for proper explanation. "Honey...Izuku doesn't...have a quirk...He's quirkless..." Hisashi's eyes darted to the young boy and the silence continued until the two felt slight change of the room temperature. "That's unbelievable! Both of us have quirks you know...What?!" Hisashi slammed the table and grabbed Izuku's slender arms. Throwing him on the ground hard. "Izuku!" Inko ran to protect him from the violent Hisashi. However, he took her wrist and threw her in the opposite direction from his son. "Don't interrupt me, there must be something wrong with Izuku! We have to go see a doctor!"

"We did! But they said Izuku didn't have any quirk." Inko explained while staggering in slight pain. Izuku watched his pained mother in horror, looking down depressed. "Don't dare to look like that! We must look for a way to get your Quirk..."

Hisashi took off in a hurry slamming the door of their apartment room. The night went by fast as Hisashi didn't come home.

Izuku's eyes flattered own with slight pain on his arm. Small bruise appearing on his left arm as he remembered yesterday's memory. He sat up and walked out of his room, and with slight fear, he peeked the living room seeing his father. "Where is your greeting?" His father's voice seemed normal which gave the small latter a slight relief. "Good Morning" Izuku walked carefully and sat in front of him. Looking around, there was no presence of his mother. "Where's mom?" Hisashi slowly placed the newspaper that was in his hands and looked directly at Izuku. "She went out for a while. Today you are spending day with me." Hisashi smiled. However Izuku felt the small discomfort with his own father's presence. "Father?"

"I have been on the edge yesterday, sorry for hurting you." Hisashi gently cupped Izuku's cheeks. With tender touch, pulled him into a hug. Izuku was scared but embraced back to happy to see his gentle father back. "Father!" Before he can hug his father back, Hisashi pulled apart. "Don't worry I will make you the best hero."

"Eh? But Doctor said I am born quirkless?" Izuku question. It was near impossible to be a hero without a quirk. Even if Izuku wanted to deny that fact, he still understood.
"Yesterday, I asked my friend who investigate on quirks about you. He said he know someone who can transmit quirk to someone else. For him to do that, he need you to withstand that power. In order to do that we should train your body. Some strain to your body and mind might help with the process he said." Hisashi stood up, pulled his bruised wrist once again. Gentleness disappeared as evil smirk appeared.
His fist contacting him hard on his underdeveloped abs. Izuku's vision blurred then fell down onto the ground. He faced whatever is front of him, shivering in fear. Chanting stop like a madman.
"Please s-stop..." Regretting few seconds later of what he said. Another blow flew him across the room. Slamming on to the wall.
"ARE YOU DEFYING ME?! YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE A QUIRK TO BECOME A TOP HERO! YET BEING SO DEFECTIVE..." Blow after another landed on the small boy, coughing desperately for air. Izuku's instinct crawled away for safety as he never dared to look back. "Why are you running away? Don't you want to have quirk? LISTEN TO ME!" Hisashi kicked his body, aching in indescribable pain. Izuku held his stomach gently; "P-please...stop". Without any hesitation, Hisashi took a glass ashtray throwing right by Izuku's face, slightly glazing his cheeks. He then grabbed Izuku's curly hair and pushed near the shattered small pieces.. Through the pieces, Izuku could see nothing but a blur with so much tears pouring out. "Why are you born so useless!" Hisashi's stabbed Izuku hard. "I'm s-s-orry" was all he could choke out from his tightened throat.

Relief was definitely in Izuku's mind after he felt floating away from the glass shards. But the pain did not subdue, instead intensified from being dropped on to the hard floor. "I'm not going to be a laughingstock because of you!" Hisashi paused and stared down disgustingly. "I wish you weren't born so useless...Clean all this up before your mother know! Don't think someone will help such quirkless human." He left the house in calmed anger leaving Izuku to clean up the glass shards that scattered on the floor; it looked like a duplicate of his own heart breaking apart. That 15 minute seemed too long for Izuku. With his young understanding, he knew that this wasn't the end of it. Able to comprehend the action and words behind his father. 'Why am I quirkless?' Izuku thought, dropping by the couch fainting from fatigue and pain...

"-zuku! Izuku! IZUKU!" He opened his eyes with the call of his own name. In front was his darling mother looking at the boy if someone had died. Her face was pale and her hand was trembling. Her hand traced the fresh cut on his cheek before hugging him hard. Although the pain shot Izuku up, shaking strongly."Where is father?" Inko looked away, "He wasn't home when I came back..but what's wrong? What happened? Are you okay?" Inko cupped his cheeks. "Mom, I was..." Izuku bit his lips, he wanted to run into her warmth. However the image of his mother in pain like yesterday lingered in his mind. "I was training with father in the house today and I broke father's ashtray. I'm sorry." Inko sighed in slight relief. After yesterday, she was extremely worried if he was going to be violent. "It's alright, as long as you are safe." The worried face she made stabbed Izuku's heart. He was lying to his mother.

"GET HERE USELESS!" The routine of the morning begin from [training] while Inko was away. It has been 5 days and Hisashi stopped looking at Izuku as his own son, instead a slave for his anger control. Izuku's small body can barely handle the forceful training. Everything must be done in the way Hisashi wants and one mistake means more pain. It couldn't be helped since it was for him to gain his quirk for his father but day by day, his body was battered in pain. Izuku's heart and body was already fragile to begin with yet all the intense torture he have to take in was for non other than his daring mother. He can't handle have his mother being hurt because of him.

After the day he came back, Hisashi was drowning himself in alcohol. From the shocking news of his son and the humiliation he received from most people in the neighborhood. The alcohol was poured into Hisashi everyday to the point where [training Izuku] turned into more of [releasing anger on Izuku]. Consistently been told "USELESS" , "I WISH YOU WEREN'T BORN" , "I HATE YOU" hurt the young boy so much but somewhere in Izuku's heart, the gentle eyes His father used to have was still existent. Hoping to see him back. Worriedly he stated,"Father, you s-shouldn't d-d-d-drink..." Hisashi looked at the boy in daze. And in the matter of seconds, the beer bottle in front of him shattered onto Izuku's shoulder. "AAHHHH!" The blood oozed out and Izuku's tear falling continuously calling in unbearable pain. He curled up into a ball holding somewhere close to his open wound. "Hahahaha, look at you! If you had a quirk you wouldn't have been in this situation...It's all your fault. Why can't you at least do what I tell you to do! That's why you are nothing but a garbage." Hysterically laughing at the boy before returning to his own room. The broken beer glass was thrown on the floor, his clothing seeped in red stain. The boy knew the routine. It was one of the most painful experience, but wanted to be strong like All Might. Izuku gently wrapped a band-aid terribly on his shoulder. It didn't look as bad, but still wrecked him in pain.

Izuku stepped out, meeting with his childhood friend as promised. "Kacchan!"Izuku carefully dashed moderately towards the blonde head. It was one of Izuku's favourite moment. Watching Katsuki gives Izuku power, a power to over come anything. "Izuku! You're late" Katsuki arrogantly stated as usual, yet so gentle with a hidden blush. In his emerald eyes, the red orbs flashed in the sunlight. Izuku jumped on to the blonde, feeling the warmth from the other. Snuggling into his vest, Katsuki also gave the latter a strong embrace. Katsuki sees a flash of purple wound and a wrecked band-aid. Katsuki poked the bruised seeing Izuku jumped up away from his embrace, cringing from pain stabbing him like needles. The boy fell backwards falling on his bum. Katsuki stares at the latter for a second and he questions; "...Izuku are you hurt?" Izuku's eyes widened in fear, he cannot let him know. Not about him and his father. "N-n-no!" He shook his head violently. After few seconds, Katsuki shrugged and embraced Izuku once again, gentle as he can ever be. The tears betrayed in Izuku's eyes, hugging the other latter.
The two headed
towards the isolated park, deep in the back to their secret base with their hands still intertwined. "Izuku this is our hero base. It's a secret between two of us. Anything here cannot be known by anyone." Izuku's face brightened with brim happiness. He doesn't need to be scared and the only one here was Kacchan. Katsuki then took out a small box, filled with the smell of the medicine. "What's that?" Izuku hovered over to see what's inside the box. Katsuki grinned and with a most smug looking face, he pulled Izuku close. "Gimme you arm. I can treat it for you! Since you are so weak, I have to protect you." he delicately treated the green latter. "Wow Kacchan! You can do anything! That's amazing!" Izuku looked at Katsuki with eyes filled with sparkles and admiration. Although something still struck in Izuku's heart. "Kacchan..." His eyes turned depressed, remembering what his father said. "Are you happy i'm here? Do you like me? Am I a garbage?" The silence that Katsuki gave pained Izuku, feeling that maybe he also think he was worthless. With no Quirk, no talent and on top of that he was very frail. He had nothing...Who would love someone who is worthless in this world. Katsuki on the other-hand wasn't sure what Izuku had gotten into. However what he knew was that if anyone can protect Izuku, he himself will be the one. "Izuku, don't forget." Katsuki took his hand, "Forget what Kacchan?"

"That I am your hero! No matter where you are, I will find you." Wide smile appeared, and like a domino effect Izuku smiled back.

The time passed by too fast for the two. As they separated their ways, Izuku solemnly walked home. Expecting to see his own father drunk and violent. He took each step slowly, praying that his mother will be at home. Once he arrived, he could hear his father shouting.
"DON'T PAMPER HIM! HE NEEDS TO BE EDUCATED!"
"HONEY! YOU ARE SCARING IZUKU! ONLY THING YOU DO IS DRINKING NOWADAYS! YOU MIGHT THINK I DON'T KNOW BUT AREN'T YOU ABUSING HIM? HIS BODY IS BEATEN UP, AND EVERYDAY IT IS GETTING WORSE!"
"WHAT'S WRONG WITH THAT? HE NEEDS TO BE TRAINED, THEN HE WILL RECEIVE A QUIRK! IF YOU HAVE COMPLAINTS THEN WHY DON'T YOU HELP HIM? YOU GAVE BIRTH TO A USELESS THING!"
"U-Useless?...Izuku...also had to give up on his dream of being a hero. Don't think that you are the only one feeling despair!"
"You also are feeling like a garbage don't you? Everyone in the neighbor knows Izuku is quirkless. That's why you also don't say much nor help. You are also been blamed for giving birth to a useless child!" Inko backed down, losing it's composure. Everyday, she has been within the gossip of the neighbor.

[Did you know her son is quirkless?]
[Wow, but the parent's has quirk though...]
[It seems like abnormal has happened.]
[That's unfortunate! I bet he can be something else other than HEROES]

Every words stabbed Inko. There was never a day like today when she strongly wished this world to not have superpowers called Quirk.

Izuku couldn't believe his ears, knowing that his mother was suffering because of him. Many questions floated in his mind. 'Does she hate me? Did she regret that I was born? Is it my fault?' He shut his eyes tight and covered his ears until the argument calmed down. His trembling fingers touched the knob turning to see his mother came up with a forced smile, "Welcome home Izuku." Izuku couldn't help but to cry. Inko's eyes were tired, with bag under her eyes. Soon Hisashi began to change his attitude, there was no more love in the family. All he can think of was to force the superpowers on Izuku, without doubting the fact that he will never develop one. Izuku's bruises was ugly; purple becoming dark blue, cuts and scrapes are never healed. Over and over. There were many times where he had hope to see mother come home during the -lesson- he have with his father. But at the same time, Izuku wasn't sure anymore that she will love him like in the past. The air in the apartment room were cold as ice. He can always hear his mother crying. All she chant was sorry. Izuku didn't understand what she was sorry for and who she was sorry for. But all he knew was every morning seemed more like a nightmare, compared to his dream where his family was once loving and happy.

The morning came, yet Izuku was already awake. He couldn't have slept. Knowing the truth that his mother will never save him nor love him anymore. It was already a fact than a question in his mind. Before his father can call him, he stood up and headed towards the living room. The remaining beer bottle from yesterday and today resulted the man snoozing at the couch. Every movement Hisashi makes scares Izuku. His right arm pushed the beer bottle from the table, crashing loud on the floor. It was a worse mistake Izuku ever wished for. Hisashi's eyes shot open from the noise, calmly seething every words. "Good morning useless. What are you doing?" Izuku's body petrified, stuttering his words like a new born baby. "F-f-fa-father...I'm s-s-s-s-sorrry" Hisashi walked up close. Izuku couldn't find anything similar to his father that he knew. It was totally a different person as pure hatred reflected Hisashi's eyes. He immediately grabbed Izuku's slender neck, seemed easy to break it with small amount of power. The temperature around his face rose, steam forming around Hisashi's mouth. He was ready to blow his quirk at his son. Izuku struggled to runaway. A sudden image of his time with Kacchan brightened something in his heart. 'I have to be strong...This is not my father. I-I have to-' The last struggle was a tiny fire that lit, memory of Kacchan and the secret base resisted his mind, not giving up. Izuku wanted to go back to the warm place. He kicked Hisashi's chest to get away and finally creating a small opening for the latter to escape from the grip. Izuku's eyes went straight head towards the door, "Kacchan...Kacchan..." Holding on to the last hope.

DING DONG

Sudden doorbell rang, Izuku's heart lightened with hope to see someone there to help him. Izuku never dare to look back as he opened the entrance door with full power. There stood strange looking man with a proper attire and flowing figure, "Hello there. This must be Midoriya household?" His voice deeply vibrated in Izuku's mind. He looked at Izuku then glanced towards Hisashi before looking back at the boy. "Izuku fell back from the menace that the villain emitted. "Mr Hisashi, you haven't done your part. You have to break him remember?"
"Kurogiri san...I just didn't have time..." Hisashi calmed his anger towards Izuku and apologetically spoke to the other. In the middle of the two, Izuku wasn't comprehending what was going on. The fact this villain and his father knew each other, the fact that their conversation was regarding Izuku himself. "It's fine. I am taking him as we promised." Person named Kurogiri pulled the young boy. One thing that Izuku had to do was to stay away from the stranger. He gravitated his body trying to get away from the other. "Aren't you lively...It can't be helped..." Once he sighed, two figures appeared from his body. It was non other than the number one person Izuku had to see. "Mom?...Ka...cchan?"

Hisashi walked up beside the stranger. "You who once was my proud son, destroyed my dream for being a quirkless human. You caused this to happen...Look.Useless thing like you shouldn't have existed or born. Your existence is a crime, and if so, you should be villain instead of Hero right?" Hysterical laugh broke his heart at last. His world crumbling in bit and pieces, especially when he couldn't help but to acknowledge the fact that the proof of his existence was nothing more than a garbage bag on the side of the street. He brought this present with his own hands. "I...I..." Hisashi grabbed Izuku's hair pushing his face upon the two figure in front of his soulless eyes . "Even though you were supposed to be my greatest masterpiece...But now by sacrificing you, I can gain power from that person...I can finally gain power...I have no use for you." Cracking sound were emitting inside his mind. No hope, no love, nothing that deemed as important stayed in his heart.

"Hisashi san, that's enough. I will take him to our boss." The two figure in his hands disappeared. I Hisashi stepped closer, handing the boy to the suspicious man.
Suddenly a metallic shovel thrown towards the man.

"IZUKU!" Inko stepped into the horrific scene. Confused yet her mind focused on her precious son currently gripped by a stranger. Inko repetitively called his name. Yet Izuku's eyes were lost in the darkness; he responds but was not moving nor resisting. "..I-Izuku! Izuku!"
"There isn't any point Inko, he is no longer with us!"
"What have you done?!" The tears shed from Inko big eyes.
"I have finally gotten my dream of being a human with strong invincible quirk. No one can look down on me."
"W-wh...What do you mean?"
"I am going to obtain power if I hand Izuku over!... Isn't that a great deal?" Hisashi's eyes beam in unknown presence. Inko couldn't believe who that man is...The conversation between the two continued as Mitsuki (Bakugo's mother) behind Inko was
fuming in anger. She had come to giving her best friend Inko a hand, and in front of her eyes was nothing but a tragic disaster. Inko's husband that Mitsuki knew was no longer someone that she recognized. His face twisted in it's own greed and no love was shown between two. The foggy stranger begin to activate its power; distortion of the power quietly moved as Mitsuki's emergency radar darted to Izuku who was held captive. Glancing over at horrified Inko, Mitsuki took a large step before it was too late. She leaped past Inko and pulled Izuku by force. She successfully held the unconscious boy in her arms but let the two man go. "Hisashi!" Inko curled into the ball bawling in pond of tears. Mitsuki held Izuku tight and caressed Inko's back.

"Inko...Live near my place. Away from anywhere he would know. YOU have to protect Izuku kun!"
