Hey guys! Thank you for everyone who's stuck with the story so far, I'm already at almost 400 views. I will continue, but I would love (and I kinda depend on) your veiws of this story. As always, R&R(and favorite please)
The battle raged all around me. I felt the ground under me shake as a fuel cell exploded on the droids.
"Have to say it Commander, launching the fuel and shooting it at the droids was a pretty good idea."
"Well, if every plan we pulled off was sane, we wouldn't have gotten as far as we have in the war." I grinned.
As the last of the droids disappeared into fire, I almost cheered. My master shot me a glance from her hiding position and I quickly swallowed my pride. The Jedi were not proud.
"Good job, guys." I said. My comlink chimed and I raised my wrist to answer it.
"Akirah, back to base; the droids are gone."
"Yes, Master."
Back in my quarters on the ship, I tried comming Ahsoka again, but she didn't answer. I dropped my head in my hands. Where was she?
"She'll call you back." The voice behind me said. "She's just busy."
"Master! I didn't see you."
"Come on, let's train. You can't continue to worry about your friend."
I didn't want to train. I wanted to stay here and wait for her to com me back.
"Akirah!"
Picking up my lightsabers, I began to walk sullenly towards the door. She held me back.
"Leave them."
I set them on my bed and walked out. We headed to an empty hangar, considering that was where there was the most space. Master Aayla took her position a few paces away from me, and I raised my fists in front of my body. I let the Force guide my actions; it whispered in my head. Not yet, it said, wait. A second later, I narrowly avoided a blue fist flying towards my face. I stepped sideways and aimed a kick at her side. She grabbed my foot and I had to step back. I stepped forward again and almost landed a punch before I was kicked in the stomach. Hard. Backing up, I spit blood onto the metal floor. Kriff. I didn't know she'd kicked me that hard. I backed up and we began circling. I looked for an opening to attack.
"Focus. Use the Force." Master Aayla prompted. Calming myself, I looked back at my master and noticed she wasn't guarding her left side. I wondered if she was baiting me. It was a risk I was going to take. The Force guided my body as I stepped forward and placed a well aimed punch. Careful, it whispered. I ducked just in time before Master Aayla'a equally aimed punch flew over my head. Kriff! She had baited me. I jumped back as a kick hit me in the shin. We exchanged punches until a group of clones showed up.
"Set blasters to stun." My master said without pausing.
I jumped back and stopped. Reaching out her hand, she called two lightsabers into her hand.
"But I left those in my room…" I said.
"You left them, I brought them."
"Thanks, Master, but isn't it kind of late?" I replied.
"Just when you think you're done,"
"Two more enemies show up." I mumbled.
I tied a black cloth around my eyes and ignited my sabers. In a ready stance, I opened myself to the Force. Using it to heighten my senses, I heard the brush of a finger on a trigger to my left. My saber hummed as I brought it up. From a trickle to a waterfall, the blasts came from all directions, and I could barely keep up with them. Suddenly, I heard the faintest click from a blaster changing mode. Behind me the same click told me two of the people shooting at me were about to shoot real, deadly blasts at me.
I ran at the first one, deflecting blasts as I did. I slashed the blaster in half and kicked him to the floor. Using the Force, I moved a box over his leg so he wouldn't get up. Then, I spun and, crossing my sabers, deflected the blast into the other shooter. By then, everyone else had stopped shooting. The blue blades shrank into their handles, and I pulled off the blindfold. I saw Master Aayla pulling off the helmet of the first man.
"It's not a clone." She confirmed as she put binders on his wrists.
"This one's not, either." Said Lucky from across the room.
"So how'd they infiltrate us? Who even are they?" I asked. I ran a hand over the dark cloth that was still in my hands.
"In the name of the Galactic Republic, you are under arrest for the attempted murder of Padawan Akirah Canis." Master Aayla declared as she dragged the living imposter towards the detention level. I sighed openly. We'd been in the system for a week and I was already overwhelmed.
"Kir, rest until tomorrow. We'll interrogate him and then report to the council."
I nodded gratefully.
"Thank you, Master."
I walked back to my small, empty room and sat on the cot. Checking the comlink, I realized there weren't any messages. Kriff, I thought. I used the 'fresther before trying to call Ahsoka… again. This time, though, she answered.
"Kir!"
"Ahsoka!"
"How are you?" I asked.
"I'm fine. We blew up a huge shield generator."
"Really? I got a concussion, crash landed my fighter, and almost got shot by two people pretending to be clones."
"I don't believe you." She laughed.
"I've got the cuts to prove it. Look!" I pointed to the gash on my forehead.
"Hah, alright." Ahsoka chuckled, but there was less humor in it.
"This war is… terrifying. I watched men I met that day die right in front of me." I dropped my head into my hands and sat on my cot.
"At least you're alive." She said.
"I guess…" I deadpanned, but Ahsoka looked over her shoulder.
"I have to go. I'm so sorry, Akirah."
"Stay safe!" I implored as she shut off the com.
After changing into sleepwear, I lay down and closed my eyes.
