A Farwell for now:
The Avengers fell on to some seats in the Helicarrier, panting for breath. They were tired, worn out. Some of them received aid including Natasha who had been wounded by Ultron's gun firing. Wanda sat on a seat, crying into her hands for the loss of her brother. Vision consoled her with a hand on her shoulder. So did Una on her other side.
"I'm so sorry," Clint apologised feeling guilty. If he wasn't in danger, Pietro wouldn't have had to sacrifice his life for his.
Wanda didn't say anything. She managed to hold up her head and wipe a few tears away. "At least..." she struggled to speak. "At least – he died – fighting for a good cause,"
"We'll never forget his sacrifice," Una promised. "He saved more than mine and Clint's today,"
"Have you tried to contact Banner?" Nick approached Natasha.
"Contact? What's happened?" Una asked.
Clint looked at her. "Banner leapt into the Quinjet and tossed Ultron out before Wanda finally finished him off. Nat tried to contact him but he turned off his com and activated the stealth mode,"
"Why would he do that?" Una asked.
Before anyone could answer her question, they heard whooshing from outside and noticed Iron Man flying outside. All of them except Vision and Wanda scurried out. Tony deactivated his mask once he landed. He panted for life.
"You made it out okay?" Steve asked.
Tony didn't say a word but nodded.
Una noticed that someone was missing. "Where's Thora?"
The question brought the other's attention. They stared up at the sky, hoping to catch a glimpse of her flying.
"Where is she Stark?" she questioned him.
Stark turned away.
"Stark?" Steve addressed again.
Stark would move a muscle.
"Where's my cousin?" Una begged for an answer, but Tony would move again She began to lose her temper with him. "Tony! Look at me! Where is she?!"
Tony looked back up at her with a sad glance. "Thora was on the city when it exploded. I searched for in the sea below and the debris. There was no body,"
Una felt her eyes turning watery. "No…" she shook her head. It can't be true.
"I'm so sorry," Tony apologised.
Una turned away, let out her tears, unable to let her friends see her cry.
A sad Steve placed a hand on her shoulder. So did Clint and Nat.
Suddenly they heard a whooshing sound. They looked out to the clouds. Up through the clouds shot…
"Thora!" Una squealed out.
Thora landed on the carrier, covered with bruises. She instantly dashed to her cousin and friends and embraced Una.
The others crowded her. "Why I thank you for you for saving my life Stark. But I do not appreciate you that left me on the surface,"
Everyone looked at Tony with accusing looks.
"I didn't pick you out of the sea," Tony answered.
Thora frowned at him. "But then who did?" she asked. "Did you see anyone else?"
"No I didn't," he answered. "I looked for you. I scanned the ocean for you; I saw no sign of you,"
He noticed everyone was still a little sceptical of his claim. "Are you all accusing him of leaving Thora to die?
"Are you sure you were picked out of the water?" Steve asked Thora.
Thora nodded. "I saw a figure dive down towards me before I blacked out. But I didn't catch a good glimpse,"
"Why I most certainly didn't pick you out of the water and leave you on the surface," Tony told her clearly.
"Then who did rescue her?" Steve questioned.
There was no answer.
The Avengers flew over to America to their new base. Hundreds of people were inside on computers and in combat training rooms. Thora and Una noticed Natasha inside alone by herself, worried about Bruce.
"Any ideas of where Bruce is?" Una asked.
"Not much," Nat vaguely answered. She didn't turn to them. "Any ideas of who could possibly have rescued you Thora?"
"Absolutely not," Thora answered. "I wish I knew,"
"Why would Banner abandon his team?" Una changed back to the subject, knowing that Nat was just trying to talk his way out of it. "How could he just leave like this?"
"He must have felt really guilty about Africa," Thora realised. "Maybe he was afraid of hurting someone again,"
Nat concealed her sadness but not completely. The girls could see the sorrow in her eyes.
"Hey…we'll find him eventually," Thora consoled.
"No," Nat shook her head. "We won't,"
"How do you know that for sure?" Una tried to lift her spirits.
Nat still wouldn't answer. The girls decided to take their leave.
"I'm returning home to Asgard now," Una said to her.
"And I'm returning to my boyfriend," Thora told her. This earn Nat's attention. "One day we'll find Bruce. He'll be back. Come here," she offered Nat a hug and Una joined in. She accepted it.
After their hug and goodbye to Nat, the girls took their lave with Steve and Stark.
"The rules have changed," Steve said.
"We're dealing with something new," Stark remarked
"Oh the Vision is artificial intelligence,"
"A machine,"
"So it doesn't count,"
"No, it's not like a person lifting the hammer,"
"Right different rules for us,"
"Nice guy. Artifice,"
"Thank you,"
Thora spoke up at last. "If he can wield the hammer, he can keep the Mind Stone. It's safe with the Vision. And these days, safe is in short supply
"But if you put the hammer in an elevator…" Steve started again.
"it would still go up," Tony estimated quickly.
"Nope. Elevator's not worthy gentlemen," Thora shook her head. "I'm gonna miss these little talks of ours."
"Not if you don't leave."
"I need to. I'd hate to keep my man waiting. But I'll come back occasionally," Thora promised.
"I hate to keep my man waiting too back on Asgard," Una said. "Besides, I've always got them into enough trouble,"
Thora frowned her eyes. "Trouble? What are you talking about?" she asked.
"Nothing you should be concerning yourself with
"There's another issue we have to focus. The Mind Stone is the fourth of the Infinity Stones to show up in the last few years. I feel it is no coincidence,"
Una frowned her eyebrows this time. "You mean someone has been playing an intricate game and has made pawns of us?"
"I've got a strange feeling cuz,"
"And once all these pieces are in position..." Una figured out.
"Triple Yahtzee." Tony answered.
"That wasn't what I was going to answer but still works," Una let him have it.
"You think you can find out what's coming?" Tony asked.
Thora didn't quite answer; it meant that to figure out the answer she'd have to leave Earth.
"I'll deal with it Thora. I find more information about these six Infinity Stones back home. And I'll call you if you need," Una selflessly decided, not wanting Thora to leave Jesse again.
"This is goodbye for now dear friend," Steve shook Una's hand.
She turned to Tony. "Can't believe I'm saying this but – I'm gonna miss you,"
"That's nice to hear you say that," Tony shook her hand with a smile.
"A bit,"
Tony's smile dropped.
"Just kidding. Made ya look," Una giggled.
"Oh, hardy ha,"
"Until we meet again boys," Thora shook Steve's hand again, then Tony's.
The two men waved to the two girls as they walked away.
"Farewell cousin," Thora embraced her cousin who hugged her tightly.
"Take care of my cousin," Una requested to Jesse who had driven over to pick up his girlfriend.
"You have my word," Jesse promised.
Una gifted him a friendly nod before looking up to the sky. "I'm ready Heimdell,"
A golden blast burst from the sky and Una was carried upwards. She disappeared back into space back towards Asgard.
Jesse noticed an agitated face had formed on Thora. She was looking rather uneasy. "Are you alight?"
"It's just…I feel like I'm neglecting Asgard, and that promise I made
"You can't think that. You're still worthy of Mjolnir are you not? Could you still lift if you did neglect? No matter what live you're living now and what duties you have you'll always be worthy of it,"
Those words were all that were needed to boost Thora's confidence. "What do you say a double date with Darcy and Ian?"
"You got it," Jesse smiled and kissed his girl.
They drove away, off to another date.
