After such an audacious rescue, the pair was exhausted. Kyd was still wincing at the aching bruises he had been dealt with whilst retreating and looked bleary and unfocused. He indicated wildly to answer Jinx's question and thankfully Seemore translated.
"Starfire punched him into metal bars,"he explained, flinching,"I heard it too. It really didn't sound nice."
Kyd nodded, rubbing his arm nervously. Finally, Billy Numerous entered the room after a few minutes of concealment in immense fear of Jinx reaction. She glared harshly at him as he smiled awkwardly and sat sheepishly on the furthest end of the comfortable sofa.
"Don't you have anything to say?,"she snapped irritatedly.
He shrugged non-committedly and multiplied to three. He grabbed the xbox controllers and began playing roughly, altercating and whooping raucously with himself. Jinx took a few deep breaths to compose herself and shook her head disbelievingly. Kyd glanced wearily at the time- it was one in the morning. Tiredly, he stumbled to his feet and stiffened as Seemore threw his arms around him in a tight embrace. He patted his back awkwardly and seemed immensely uncomfortable but still attempted to look thankful. After he broke apart swiftly, he vanished and teleported rapidly to his room. He locked it securely and didn't even bother to fall asleep in his pyjamas.
Meanwhile, Jinx was still set on a direly owed apology from Billy. Seemore had yawned widely and retreated to his room sleepily as Mammoth grunted a weak excuse about working out to flee the awkward atmosphere. Jinx had placed her hands on her hips and scowling meaningfully at Billy. He merely ignored her and continued competing online. Finally piqued enough, she ripped off the plug and the xbox shut down abruptly. The Billy's leapt up and glowered, irked.
"What was that for?,"he cried brazenly.
"Yeah, chill!,"another said furiously.
"Honestly!,"one copy remarked arrogantly.
"You owe the whole team an explanation and apology!,"she retorted frostily.
"For what? So I accidently threw a jug at the security control-thingy! Maybe I let my guard down at the fight! Who cares?,"Billy snapped brashly, prancing blatantly to plug in the xbox.
She gaped incredulously at his shameless reply.
"Wait, seriously?,"Jinx spluttered unbelievingly.
She had no idea how any one could be so outrageously impertinent. She watched, appalled, as he continued playing video games like the entire conversation was of no particular importance or use.
Jinx knew Billy Numerous had grown with a ruthless childhood but truthfully they all had. Seemore's parents had been incinerated in a sweltering blaze. Gizmo had been estranged from all he knew by his freakishly advanced intellect. Mammoth had lived with an abusive grandfather and he had nearly perished in the merciless hands of neglect, but grown anomalously strong in a desperate attempt to defend himself. Kyd's was a complete mystery but he eluded the topic urgently so they assumed it was traumatic. And Jinx had been abandoned on her own, after her family had one look at her bizarre appearance and dubiously bad luck she created. The sort that only happened with her around. She was fully aware Billy's mother had died of cancer and left him to be at the mercy of his heartless father. Even so, he had to endure like the others. He had to accept that these doleful occurrences happened and deal with it in a suitable way, rather than resulting in unbridled insolence.
"I get what you did was an accident but you still did it. Just say sorry and get this over with,"she cajoled coldly.
"Screw it!,"a copy spat aggressively.
She felt her fervent wrath threaten to erupt at his uncaring impudence. Taking a sharp intake of breath, she left the room stiffly. It was clear, for the whole time she had been plotting fastidiously and he had wrecked it, a sorry wasn't there. To get the team caught and for all the time they had been planning a daring rescue, the apology wasn't coming.
