Chapter 1 Almost Forgotten

After Miguel was sent back to the land of the living he ran home as fast as he could to get his great grandmother Mama Coco to remember her father Hector. "I have to make sure Mama Coco remembers Papa Hector before he is forgotten forever!" Miguel thought to himself while running. Back at the land of the dead Hector was hardly able to move and was fading fast. "Hector don't you dare disappear forever. I just got you back and now I'm about to lose you for good this time. If only I knew the truth before our deaths…" Imelda cried as tears streamed down her face. The rest of their family were crying as well wishing they could do something. Unknown to Miguel in the land of the living his whole family spent the entire night searching for him. "Miguel where have you been?! We've been worried sick about you! What are you doing with that guitar!?" Elena Miguel's Abuelita shouted as she saw her grandson running into his Mama Coco's room with a guitar locking the door behind him. Elena demanded Miguel to open the door but he had a mission and it was to get his great grandma to remember her late father.

With tears in his own eyes Miguel said, "Mama Coco I saw your papa. Remember Papa?" To try to get Coco to remember Hector Miguel showed the picture of her parents and herself as a child that had Hector's head torn off. While Miguel was attempting to get his Mama Coco to remember Hector put his hand on his wife's face and said to her in a weak voice, "even in death I'm glad you and I could be together even though I did a horrible thing by leaving you and our daughter. I'm so sorry for doing that and missing out on being there." Before Miguel could continue to attempt to get his Mama Coco to remember her father Miguel's Abuelita Elena opened the door and the entire family came in relieved that Miguel was home. "Miguel where have you been?" Migeul's father Enrique asked as he comforted Miguel as he was crying. "We thought we lost you forever." Through his tears Miguel apologized to his father for running away.

Miguel's Abuelita was still furious with her grandson for what he did including stressing out his Mama Coco at least that's what she thought. "Miguel apologize to your Mama Coco now!" Elena ordered. Miguel picked up his great great grandfather's guitar and said, "Mama Coco your papa wanted to have this song." Miguel began playing the song that Hector wrote for Coco all those years ago,

Miguel: "Remember me

Though I have to say goodbye

Remember me

Don't let it make you cry

For ever if I'm far away

I hold you in my heart

I sing a secret song to you

Each night we are apart

Remember me Though I have to travel far"

All of a sudden Coco smiled at her great grandson and started singing along as she finally remembered her father and the song they used to sing together,

Coco and Miguel: Remember me

Each time you hear a sad guitar

Know that I'm with you

The only way that I can be

Until you're in my arms again

Remember me."

Elena started crying after hearing her grandfather's song for her mother as she realized music wasn't the worst thing in the world. Coco saw her daughter crying and asked, "Elena what's wrong?" Elena answered, "Nothing Mama. Nothing at all" with a smile on her face. Miguel then said to his great grandma, "Mama Coco your papa loved you so much. Hearing Miguel's words about her father loving her very much made her happy. Mama Coco opened her drawer and took out a notebook. "My papa used to write letters and poems to me while he was away. I missed him so much when he went away and even more when his letters stopped coming. I even kept this" said Coco as she showed her family the poems and letters from Hector and the torn part of the photo from her childhood as she began telling her family stories about Hector who were happy to hear them.

Meanwhile back at the land of the dead Imelda started crying even harder when Hector began to close his eyes. "I love you Hector. Don't leave me!" Imelda cried out. "You have to stay for me, for our family including our daughter Coco! I don't want to spend the rest of my afterlife without you!" When Hector didn't say anything Imelda thought she lost the love of her life forever and started crying more. All of a sudden Imelda felt Hector holding her as he said, "I love you too Imelda and I promise you I'm not going anywhere ever again. I want to spend the rest of my afterlife with you and the rest of our family. Imelda will you marry me and be my wife again?" The whole family were happy that Hector didn't disappear forever which meant that Miguel was successful in getting Coco to remember her father in the land of the living. Imelda smiled and kissed Hector as she accepted Hector's proposal. The whole family and the audience from Ernesto De La Cruz's sunrise concert cheered and clapped for the happy family. "Come on let's go home and do something about your clothes. After that we can talk about having a second wedding" said Imelda as she and the rest of the family returned home.

Author's Note: Hello to everyone who enjoys fan fiction. I would like to present The Rivera Family Together Again a fan fiction based on the Disney movie Coco. The idea to write this story just popped into my head and I always wondered how things went after Miguel was able to get his Mama Coco to remember her father Hector. I don't own Coco or anything else Disney related. I'm just a big fan of Disney. Please stay tune for my next update. Peace out from Princesspeach102!
