Story time!

"I wouldn't have expected it to be so hard.."

"Killua, I can carry you."

Gon proposed full of empathy.

"You're already saving my arm from decay, seriously dude how long have you been going? Your Shu can't last forever, you should take a break.. don't worry for me I'll walk"

His breath was uneven, he had lost a lot of blood. Even just walking and breathing had become difficult.

How far have I fallen? Hn?

He forced a faint smile.

"I will protect that arm from anything, you can count on me, don't worry about my Aura it's good training"

He chuckled as bright as ever.

It was hard to imagine he had abandoned a friend for the first time in his life just a few hours ago.

Killua felt an heavy weight in his throat, he was to dry to cry, but his breath betrayed him..

It was the first time he weeped in front of Gon..
He felt shameful, it wasn't the time, if ever, yes, it was probably the worst time to weep..

This pain frustrated him, he felt cornered, normally he would have tried to keep it to himself but for some reasons :

"I would have thought you would be the one crying like a little baby" he said half-jokingly..

"Killua, I can't let you bear everything.. Usually I would have been the one crying.. But… But, you don't have to worry about anything.. I feel like I have an infinite amount of energy right now, I can keep going for Days!"

Suddenly, Gon grabbed Killua's legs, put his head between them and lifted Killua over his shoulders..

"Hey!"

"You can sleep don't worry, I'll prevent the blood loss"

Killua felt a massive amount of energy, Gon's energy, flow through his body..

You can't be serious Gon!

Killua knew exactly how hard was what Gon was doing.. He knew that even at full strength he wouldn't have been able to last a minute.. How much stronger than him Gon really was? Sure he was an enhancer but that was crazy.. But that was when he realized :

Gon, you're such a nice guy.. that aura of yours is not made to hurt anyone, Yes, your full potential isn't in combat, you'll never be as strong hurting someone as you can be saving your friend..
You're.. you're my most precious friend..

For the first time in his life, Killua willingly gave up control, he gave in the warmth of his friend's aura and slept. He knew everything would be alright.

Back at the ant hill.

I am finished, no one is going to take me seriously anymore.. I was defeated by children! Fuck! what's wrong with me! Why didn't I see that coming?!
Kerpico wouldn't have fallen for that!

"Hey! Leader, how's it going? Any weird symptoms?"

"Leave me alone.."

"Need I remind you that both Colt AND Yunju were defeated by only one of those kid and that you managed to slice the arm of one of them despite fighting them both at once.. cheetu did nothing because he was paralysed.. NO ONE is going to mock you, no one.."

"Kerpico.. you're insulting me if you think I don't know that Zazan is using our humiliation to gain ground while we recover.. This fool Cheetuh doesn't see the problem, he never understood complex power dynamics, he still thinks that all squadron leaders are equal and that the queen is the one in command..

Even if my soldiers are of good faith and admit I did well, let's say 5% of them will switch allegiance to Zazan.. Let's be real, Colt and Yunju are both finished , how many of THEIR soldiers are going to go for Zazan"

"I know, It should have went more smoothly, It should have been a flawless victory that would have made you the undisputed king of the hill.. But as the commander of the operation, I will take the blame"

Kerpico didn't have anything to say..

"I.." he started to say something nonetheless.

"I know.. I know.. you're sorry.. I am sorry too.. I didn't want to be a jerk"

Then Hagya could see a vicious and smug smile on Kerpico's face..

"Ow no no no no no, you're mistaken.." he started as smug as he's ever been.

"Ow you little shit don't you dare!" The lion was preemptively triggered.

Now Kerpico's facial expression looked more like a troll meme..

"I swear if you finish that sentence I'll tear you apart!"

"I didn't mean that I was sorry, I meant 'I'.. '..had nothing to do with it, you'rejustabigweaklinganda jerk'"

Hagya roared and lunged at Kerpico..

The rat ran as fast as he could but Hagya quickly caught up and put him in a head lock..

"I know your weakness!" said the lion..

Then, he started to tickle the rat's arm pits ruthlessly.

"Oh no no! AHH not the tickling that's unfair! I give! I give!" squeaked the rat.

Suddenly, Hagya realized that Colt, Peggy, Turtle, Cheetuh and..

Fuck!

..and Zazan!

..were standing there watching their antics..

"Hey! Why did you stop?!" pouted Kerpico who visibly wanted more..

"You know I love when you.. Ow!.. ow.."

He had opened his eyes..

"..when you er.." he gulped mid sentence and blinked at least 5 times "..teach me those fighting techniques?"

Hagya facepalmed, his body emanating an unnatural quantity of awkward pheromone..

Zazan giggled : "Ahaha! Don't worry darling, I like my male small and squeaky too"

"Fuck you!" shouted Hagya menacing..

Colt was getting annoyed : "Enough! You two!"

"Yes! Let's be mature guys! What Hagya does with his soldiers in private.." added Cheetuh before he was cut off..

"Fuck you too!"

Cheetuh made a face tongue stuck out and holding down his right lower eyelid as he bounced on his pads ready to take off :

"You'll never catch me!"

"Well looks like Cheetuh want to be tickled too" taunted Kerpico..

"Wut?! No! No one can tickle me!" He's really adorable when he's offended.

"WE HAVE IMPORTANT MATTERS TO DEAL WITH!" boomed Colt..

"Hagya, do you have any symptoms?" asked Peggy, the official ant doctor.

"I just got zapped, what kind of symptoms am I supposed to be wary of? I am feeling pretty normal apart from the mild burns.."

"So.. apparently, the only one whose suffering we can't explain is Rammot.." concluded the small penguin chimera.

"what about Yunju?" inquired Kerpico.

"He's feeling weak from blood loss but that's all"
explained the doctor. He hoped no one would tell Yunju what he just said about him.

"I think I saw some kind of leak coming from Rammot's body, during the fight.." noted Colt, the avian general.

They were all silent and very curious until Kerpico broke the silence :

"Farko saw it too, you have good eyes general! He said it looked like the aura that emanated from these humans"

"Thank you soldier, It does seem Farko have me beat there though.."

Peggy then hypothetized that the dark haired boy's attack might have opened some pores from which aura can leak off.

"Mmmh? and.. if Rammot can't hold it in, he's going to die"

"uh? Er.. that's a pretty huge leap there Kerpico!" said Peggy..

"Tss.. no.. he's right.." confirmed Colt.

"The aura of the rare humans don't leak out, it's controlled, they can freely surround their body with it or keep it inside and invisible.." added the rat.

The lion rolled his eyes : "what he means is that it's an energy and if you loose all your energy because it leaks out of your body, you die.."

Kerpico paused a moment : "yes.. yes, it's much clearer explained like that.."

"The little rat get a bit too caught up in his own head, I see" chuckled Zazan..

"However, there is one thing that Kerpico was going to say that is much more interesting.." complemented Colt..

A faint smile crossed his rodent feature as he closed his eyes..

He opened his mouth :
"But first there is one thing I want to know Colt, have you guessed that strange fact too or did you just assume that I would find out something important that you wouldn't have?"

Hagya was lost and he really didn't like that :
Did I miss something? I was so focused on myself that I forgot to look at the big picture, what are they talking about?

Colt somehow managed to look even more serious than he did a few seconds ago :
"Since our little genius is being facetious, here is the important part : they purposefully avoided to open these "pores" of ours.. despite the potential that it would have to kill us.."

Everyone except Peggy and Kerpico were shocked.

"Are you suggesting that they just might have given us powers similar to theirs.." enquired Hagya in disbelief and with a whole new hope for power kindled inside.

"Well, my explaination would have prevented you from concluding that kind of unlikely possibility.."

Now, even Colt was curious : "What do you mean? Whatever they can do, we can do.."

"Peggy, what is the average age of humans when they reach their mature size?"

Now what is that rat thinking? Wondered Zazan.

"er.. between 15 and 21 years old" answered the curious penguin.

"Now, what exactly is a year compared to something we know?"

The ant penguin gulped as everyone was waiting for his answer :

"365 days"

There was a silence as everyone except Cheetu of course was pondering what that meant.

Cheetuh just pretended to be deep in thought but wasn't very convincing.. at all..

Kerpico started to explain himself :

"General Colt, these teens were hundred of times your age, now can we know how long they've been training? Do we have any idea of the talent required to reach such level of mastery? Do we have any comparable talent here? Kite is going to be part of the Regalia, he won't be used to make any soldiers so that leaves only me and it's pretty clear Kurapika wasn't as talented as any of these three. And we weren't able to get any information out of Kite"

Hagya had a satisfied look on his face, "ahh Kite.. what a delicious finger, If only I could get more!"
He finished his sentence looking at Colt's hand or lack thereof with a grin trying to bully Colt into submission..

It earned him a harsh glare from Colt..

"I'm doing fine, I don't need both hands to conduct my job.. My body is only there to serve the queen, unlike some traitors"

Hagya rolled his eyes : "Traitor, hn? Big word for such a small bite don't you think?"

Colt stepped forward, making the lion gulp instinctively under the heavy and balefully calculating gaze of Zazan.

"Are you going to do something or what?" said the lion trying to assert himself and switch the focus from himself to the condor.

Kerpico and Cheetuh got ready to intervene as Turtle tried to defuse the situation with his calm and old voice : "C'mon you two, there is no need for argument, the past is in the past"..

"If you steal from the queen again, Hagya! I will personally end your life."

Cheetuh whistled with a big smile on his face as the atmosphere became heavier..

Kerpico tried to talk sense into him but..

"General Colt! You're not being reasonable, you've always been one for disc.."

But, he was interrupted by a piercing laughter :

"Yes, 'General' Colt, be reasonable! No matter how powerful that finger is, there is no way it was more nutricious than all the humans Hagya here has eaten, What is it ? 5 Per days? 6 maybe.." cut Zazan to make the situation worse and remind the rat of his mere soldier status..

There was a long silence as Colt and Hagya stared each other down..

Until a very impatient squadron leader intervened : "To be honest, I kill more than that" admitted Cheetuh with a big nervous smile, closed ayes and his right arm behind his head.

Colt was hurt for a moment.

Kerpico didn't know what to say, this was between squadron leaders, he didn't have a say in the matter anyway.

Thankfully, Tortoise was there, he gently tapped Colt's shoulder : "please calm down, some battles are simply not worth fighting.."

"Kerpico! Go check on Rammot, take Meloth and Farko with you, monitor his progress, save him, teach him how to manipulate this aura! I don't care if you don't remember anything, you will find a way! If you fail I will kill you!" ordered the lion as he turned his back to his avian rival..

Kerpico kneeled and lowered his head behind the lion's back for proper etiquette :

"I won't disappoint you, General! May I take Hina with me?"

The lion paused for a moment then waved his hand suggesting a yes.

Peggy was very curious and asked the soldier what was his idea.

Kerpico was very.. very... VERY! blunt :

"I was thinking about exploring the reaction of his aura to something he would be passionate about, something he would focus on, You know, the whole 'impaling' stuff.. can you assist me in my research?"

It was flat and very direct, Peggy didn't even hesitate a moment :
"No"
