In Camden, New Jersey, they approached the building Rumlow had been squatting in. Bucky was instructed to wait on the roof of the next building over, watching through the windows, ready to snipe Rumlow when he had the chance. Steve lead Natasha and Wanda inside, both of them in formation behind him, and Sam kept his distance from the back of the building in case he made a run for it.

As they stepped through the front door carefully, they saw hundreds of guns, grenades, smoke bombs, knives, and tear gas canisters of every size from countries around the world and hundreds of more bullets filled the room and were perfectly aligned on the ground. Broken and abandoned tables and chairs were in pieces and half rotted hapazardly around the room, some with weapons on them, some without.

"Forget the black market, he has his own arsenal," Natasha said as she swiped a hand gun and put it on her belt when no one was looking.

Wanda asked, "If all of his weapons are out here, does that mean he's unarmed?"

"I wouldn't count on it," Sam said through the com.

Bucky looked through the scope of his gun through the windows and said through his com, "I see movement inside, toward the back of the building, only one person in the shadows."

Steve walked through a doorway carefully and was met with Rumlow dressed in elaborate gear, staring back at him across the large empty room. "You're smarter than I thought," he said menacingly, "I knew S.H.I.E.L.D. would find me eventually, but I was hoping someone else would get here first."

"What are you wearing?" Steve asked, "Is that bullet proof?"

"Of course it's bullet proof," he replied, "it's magnifies my strength, which means I can go against a super soldier like you without getting hurt, despite never having taken steroids."

Bucky sighed and said, "If it's bullet proof these regular bullets aren't going to do anything, Steve. I'm dismantling my gun and keeping my distance."

Steve demanded, "Where's the red notebook that can control the Winter Soldier?"

Surprised, Rumlow said, "How do you know about that?"

Meanwhile, outside, as Bucky took his gun off of it's stand, a shadow covered his from behind and a British accent demanded, "Don't move."

Bucky slowly turned around to see Vision flying above him, but within arms reach. As he carefully stood up, he said, "You're not human."

"No," he said, "I'm not. I'm made of vibrainium, the same material as Captain America's shield, so it would be futile to attempt to cause me harm."

Rhodey flew over and pointed an arm canon at Bucky. "S.H.I.E.L.D. found Rumlow," he explained, "who we now know is Vienna bomber, but they want us to take you in too. Tony told them everything. Stand down. I know if I hurt you, I'll make Captain America my enemy, so don't make me do something I'll regret."

"What are they going to do with me?" Bucky asked.

"They're willing to take you alive if you go down easy," Rhodey answered.

Now distracted, Steve wondered what was going on outside. Sam said desperately through his com, "Cap, we have a situation out here."

Steve looked over to the windows outside, and saw Bucky backing away from Vision and Rhodey nervously. Rumlow asked, "What are you-" he looked outside and saw them for himself, "you brought the asset right to me. What a nice surprise." He took out a tear gas gun and shot it toward Wanda.

She screamed and ducked only for it to burst behind her and immediately filled the room with tear gas. In the commotion, Rumlow ran through them as the smoke covered him.

"Sorry," Wanda said as she coughed, "I panicked."

"We have to get out of here," Steve said, "Sam, he's making a run for it out the front!"

Outside, Bucky jumped off of the building as Sam shot at Vision and Rhodey to cover him. He made it around the building and kicked the front door down in time for Rumlow to get knocked down by it.

"Just the man I wanted to see," Rumlow said as he threw the door off to the side.

"Where's the book?!" Bucky demanded.

"This book?" he asked as he pulled it out from behind himself slyly, "I've spent over a year perfecting the Russian pronunciation and memorized every word to get you to do my bidding."

Bucky grabbed the nearest knife and tried his hardest to stab Rumlow and get his arms around his armor to grab it. Steve walked through the door with Natasha and Wanda, still coughing and crying from the gas, and closed it behind him to keep it contained.

Tony flew through the front door and started blasting with his arm canons. The grenades on the far wall ignighted and exploded, causing everyone to get thrown off to the side opposite side.

"Zhelaniye. Rzhavyy. Semnadtsat'. Rassvet," Rumlow said as everyone scrambled to their feet.

Steve shouted, "Don't let him finish!" The threw his shield at him but it bounced off.

"Pech'. Dyevyat'. Dobrokachestvenny!" he continued.

Bucky grabbed a gun and fired at him. Stray bullets flew everywhere, including through Tony's suit. When he ran out, he used the gun and tried to take Rumlow down with it by hand. "Stop!" Bucky pleaded.

"Vozvrashcheniye na rodinu. Odin!" Rumlow said.

"What's he saying?" Tony asked, "What's happening?"

"Gruzovoy vagon," he finished.

Bucky stopped fighting and stood up, perfectly still. He said coldly, "Ready to comply," in Russian.

"No!" Steve said as he grabbed his shield, "Bucky! Don't listen to him!"

"Fight everyone off here as I make my escape," Rumlow commanded, "no witnesses."

Tony shot him with his canons and said, "I'm not letting you go anywhere."

It bounced off of the armor he was wearing and attacked the roof of the building instead, causing some debri to fall around them as he escaped.

Steve said, "Sam, Rumlow's on the move!"

"Vision!" Tony said, "Rhodey! Go after Rumlow, I've got Barnes!"

The Black Panther appeared in the doorway as Rumlow escaped and said, "I'm told the Winter Soldier is here."

Bucky grabbed a broken piece of broken door and slammed Wanda in the head with it when she wasn't looking, knocking her down cold. Natasha ran up to him and tried to tase his metal arm, but he simply threw it off and kept going. Steve threw his shield at him and he chucked it out the window behind him. It flew directly into the next building over and stuck itself into the wall.

Natasha jumped up and wrapped her legs around his neck, only to be pulled down and grabbed by the throat with his right hand, strangling her. With his left arm he grabbed the gun at her side and pointed it at her head.

Tony demanded, "Put her down and you won't get hurt!"

Natasha tried to say, "Shoot him." But only croaking sounds came out.

"Bucky, this isn't you," Steve said frantically, "your name is James Buchanan Barnes. Put Natasha down! I don't want to hurt you!"

Bucky aimed the gun at him, shaken that he heard that name. T'Challa said, "Put the woman down, only a coward hides behind others."

A memory suddenly came to Natasha as she struggled to breathe. A metal arm. Her voice. I have my final coming up and if I can't take you down in front of the headmistress she'll fail me and I don't want that to happen, her own words echoed in her head, can you try to throw our fight in my favor?

His voice. I can't throw the fight, she'll notice, but I'll tell you something I've never said out loud before. My left shoulder is weak. It hurts when people hit it, more so than my right.

Natasha came back to the present and summoned all of the strength she had to jab him in the left shoulder. He flinched, and moved enough for her to wiggle free and collapse to the ground, struggling to caught her breath.

Frustrated, Bucky kicked her off to the side angrily and shot Steve through his left knee as he ran toward him. T'Challa charged him, got the gun out of his hands, and tried to take him down acrobatically but he dodged every attack.

Tony tried to level his guns but they wouldn't stop moving. "Hey cat suit guy," he said hastily, "is that suit bullet proof?"

"It is vibrainium," he answered, still trying to land a punch.

As Natasha gasped for air on the ground, another memory came to her. She was laying in a queen size bed, stark white sheets, and he was laying there beside her. The bed was warm. The light from the window behind him was soft. His voice. Do you ever see ordinary people living their mundain lives and wonder why we can't be like them?

We have no place in this world, she repeated what she had heard many times before. We can't be like them.

Why not?

Horrified, she got to her feet and watched the mayhem unfolding before her. Where were these memories coming from? Why were they coming to her now of all times? She shouldn't be distracted! She had to focus on the mission at hand!

Steve held Bucky in a choke hold and said desperately, "Remember!"

"He should be dead for what he did!" T'Challa said angrily as he punched Bucky in the face, "He killed my father in Vienna!"

Tony said from a distance, "I don't know who you are, but he didn't bomb the UN a few days ago if that's what you're referring to. The man you let get away did."

T'Challa demanded, "How do you know?"

"He didn't do it," Natasha said desperately, "he was with us the whole time."

Sam dragged Rumlow back into the building, handcuffed with his hands behind his back, and said, "Got him."

"Where's Rhodes?" Tony asked.

"There was a problem," Sam said sadly, "he's still alive but out of commission. Vision is getting help for him now."

"Rhodes!" Tony shouted as he ran out of the building.

As Bucky twisted himself out of Steve's choke hold and knocked him down, Steve asked, "How do we stop this?"

"There is no kill switch," Rumlow said hastily, "only death."

Steve grabbed a long gun by the barrel and bashed Bucky in the head with the butt of the rifle hard enough to knock him down. "Bucky, you have to remember," he said desperately, "you don't want to do this."

Bucky's vision blurred as he grabbed the left side of his head. Hot blood poured on to his metal arm. The room spun violently, but he had a misison to complete. He stood up, shakily, and leaned against the wall for support. A raised a handgun with his right hand at Steve but something wasn't right. He couldn't stop shaking.

"You're in pain," Steve said as calmly as he could as he hobbled over to him, "you're hurt. You're not a weapon, you're a human being. Come on...Buck...please. Put the gun down."

Bucky's face changed from stoic to horror. He dropped the gun and caught his breath as the pain overtook him. "What did I do?" he asked pitfully.

Just as everyone was beginning to relax, Rumlow broke free and took a grenade launcher in front of him. "Hey!" Sam shouted.

He fired it toward Steve, Bucky, and Natasha.

"Get down!" Steve shouted. T'Challa ran for the grenade as Sam grabbed a gun and shot Rumlow in the back of the head as he ran, killing him instantly.

Bucky reached down and grabbed the bomb first, and cupped it in his left hand, and tried to cover his face with his right hand.

"Bucky!" shouted Steve.

BOOM!

Smoke and dust filled the space as the walls shook. Debris fell from the ceiling as it cracked above them, threatening to drop on top of them at any second. Sam desperately ran back inside and examined the scene.

T'Challa was bracing himself in his suit.

Bucky was thrown against the wall, his entire left arm missing just below the shoulder. Chunks of metal were everywhere.

Steve was thrown back from the explosion.

Natasha was holding Wanda down on the other side of the room.

"He was willingly to sacrifice himself to save us," T'Challa said as he looked at the scene before him.

"Bucky," Steve said frantically as he crawled over to him. He grasped his body as best as he could and desperately grabbed at Bucky's neck to check for a pulse. "He's alive! He's still breathing!"

Sam said, "Cap, Tony told S.H.I.E.L.D. everything. They want him in their custody and they still want him dead for everything he's done. We have to get him out of here."

"If he truely didn't bomb the UN and they know that," T'Challa asked as he took off his mask, "then why do they still want him dead?"

Natasha said, "It's a long story."

"Is Wanda okay?" Steve asked, glancing over at her as she sat up.

"My head hurts," she said, "but I'm okay."

Bucky woke up and looked up at Steve, still trying to piece together what happened. Steve stood up, bracing himself against his wounded left leg, and leaned over to him and moved his mouth rapidly, then extended his arm.

"Are you talking to me!?" Bucky yelled, "I can't hear you!" Steve grabbed his right arm and helped him to his feet. He draped his arm over Steve's shoulder to hold himself up better.

After hearing their explanation, T'Challa said, "I have a place."
