Little Finn, Jackson and Greta are my original characters, but I don't own CSI.

Also please read and review my story Mudder's Day Flowers.

I wanted to write a little Mother's Day story for little Finn. Hope you enjoy...and pretty please review!

It has been a pretty busy day for Finn Stokes. He woke up his father Nick, and they and their dog Sam spent the day playing in their favorite park and chatting with Greta and Jackson. Finn called his grandmother and all of his aunts to wish them a happy Mother's Day. And he couldn't spend enough time with his father.

That evening, Nick gave Finn a bath and told him to get ready for bed. As Finn plopped on his bed, he glanced at the picture of Julie on his night stand. "Daddy?"

"What's up, Finney?" Nick asked as he picked up one of Finn's toy cars from the floor.

Finn settled against his pillows. "How come I don't have a mommy?"

Nick froze and sighed softly. He knew Finn would ask that question someday. Glancing at Julie's picture and back to his son, Nick wanted more than anything for Julie to be alive and raising Finn with him.

Sitting on the bed and looking at Finn's beautiful face, Nick took a deep breath. "Finney..." Nick began. "I know you don't remember her, but you did have a mommy."

Finn curiously looked at his father. "She in my picture?"

"Yeah," Nick said. He quickly glanced at the picture of Julie, realizing how much Finn looked like his mother. "She was your mommy."

Finn looked at the picture of the smiling woman. "She pwetty."

That brought a soft smile to Nick's face. "She was. And you look like her."

"Yeah?"

"Yeah," Nick said as he gently ran a hand through Finn's hair.

Finn looked up at his father. "How come I don't 'member her?"

Nick willed his lower lip to stop trembling and took a deep breath. "Well...she died when you were just a little baby. But she loved you very, very much."

Finn frowned. "She did?"

"She did," Nick said with certainty. "She..." Nick thought about how to tell Finn about his birth. Looking into his son's beautiful eyes, Nick said, "I know she wanted to see you grow up, and she loved you."

Finn thought for a moment. "Did she like cars?"

Nick smiled softly, knowing how Finn loved to play with his toy cars. "She did. I think she knew more about cars than I do." That brought a giggle to Finn and a smile to his father.

"Did she like Jackson and Geta?" Finn asked.

Nick smiled, knowing how Finn loved his dear friends. "Well, she and Jackson were good buds. But she didn't meet Greta."

"Oh," Finn said sadly. "So she won't 'member her eader?"

"No," Nick said, wishing he could take all of Finn's sadness away. "But Jackson remembers her, and he can tell Greta about her."

Finn gazed at his father. "Do you 'member her?"

Nick took a deep breath and looked at his and Julie's son. "I do. And I think she would be so proud of you."

Finn's eyes brightened. "Yeah?"

"Yeah," Nick said. "You know what?" Finn shook his head. "You're named after her."

"I am?" Finn asked with a crooked smile.

"You are. Her last name was Finlay, but everyone called her Finn. So I knew she'd want you to have her name."

Finn smiled. "Cool!" He thought for a moment. "Did she like my name?"

Nick smiled. "Yeah."

Looking at his father, Finn asked, "Did she like me?"

"She loved you," Nick said. He thought about the dream he had just after Julie died, when she said she loved him and their son. "She loved us both very much."

Finn smiled softly. "Daddy? Jackson and Eli say dat Eli's daddy is watching ober him."

Nick smiled sadly, knowing Warrick would have loved to see his son with Nick and Greg's kids. "He is. And I think he and your mommy are watching over you, because they love you. You're named after Eli's daddy, too, you know. "

"Yeah," Finn said. His father told him his middle name came from his Uncle Warrick. Finn thought for a moment. "Daddy...Do you fink mommy is mad dat I wish Aunt Morgan an' Mawmaw an' ebrybody a happy mudders day?"

"No!" Nick said as he narrowed his brow in concern. "Why would you think that?"

"Because eben dough she not here, I didn't wish mommy a happy mudders day."

Nick smiled softly at his son's concern. Holding Finn's hand, Nick looked in his eyes and gently rubbed Finn's hand with his thumb. "I think she loves that you love your family so much. And even if she can't be here with you, she loves that you have me and our family who love you so much."

Finn smiled softly. "So she happy we got each udder?"

"Absolutely," Nick said with a warm smile. "And you know what?"

"What?"

Nick smiled at his beautiful son. "I know she would love that we have each other and our family. She loved us both so much."

Finn gave Nick an adorable smile. "Yeah?"

"Yeah!" Nick smiled at his innocent son. He couldn't help but see Julie in the sweet, beautiful boy. A tear found its way down Nick's cheek.

Finn thought for a moment. "Daddy? Does it make you sad to fink of mommy?"

Nick smiled sadly. "Sometimes, yeah. But you know what?" Finn shook his head. "Even though it makes me sad, I'm also happy."

"You are?"

"I am. Because you are the most amazing, beautiful gift I have ever gotten in my whole life."

Finn's eyes widened slightly. "Eber in your whole life?"

"Ever in my whole life," Nick said. "You are the most important person in the whole world to me. And I love you so much."

Finn smiled at his father. "I love you so much, too, daddy!" He gave Nick a big hug. Nick fought back happy tears as his son hugged him. He'd never loved anyone as much as he loved his beautiful son.

Finn pulled away and smiled at his father. "Daddy, Jackson say when he misses somebody, he gibes dem a big hug."

"He does," Nick said, remembering a conversation he had with Jackson when he was around four years old. "I told him every time he thinks of someone he loves, he can send them a big hug."

"So if I miss mommy, can I send her a hug?" Finn asked.

Nick smiled. "I think she would love that."

Finn closed his eyes. "I send mommy a big hug."

"I think she'd love that," Nick said with a warm smile. "I'll send her one too, okay?"

"Yeah." Finn opened his eyes. "An' daddy?"

"Yeah?"

"I love you more dan anyfin' too."

Nick's lower lip wobbled before he hid it with a smile. "I love you, Finney."

Finn gave his father another hug before Nick tucked him into bed. "Nigh' night, daddy."

"Goodnight, Finney."

Finn looked at the picture of Julie. "Nigh' night, mommy. Happy mudder's day. I love you."

Nick gently kissed Finn's forehead. As much as he wished Julie was here and they were raising Finn together, he treasured every moment with their son. He knew Julie would always be part of their lives. And he knew he would always love her and be grateful for the sweet little boy with his arms wrapped around his teddy bear. Nick smiled warmly and said a silent "thank you" to Julie for their son. He would always love and be thankful for Finn.

The End
