2 ½ months earlier.
The day that Amanda was set to arrive, everyone was nervous but kind of excited. Everyone stood around as the giant glass was brought into the squad-room. The man and his crew brought the glass case in on a dolly and placed it in a corner of the squad-room. They set it up and gave Olivia the instruction manual on how to program it. Olivia signed the delivery slip and sent the men on their way.
"I can do it captain." Kat says happily. "I have been reading all about them and I think I could-" Kat starts but she is rudely interrupted by Olivia.
"I got it. I'm completely capable of doing this." Olivia says staring at the container, with the seemingly sleeping woman. She puts her hand on the handle and opens the door. Amanda's eyes suddenly open and she looks straight at Olivia.
"I am Amanda. Model number 67844272."
"Hello. I am Captain Benson and this is my squad-room."
"Nice to meet you. I am here to help you and your squad with your cases."
"Right. Ok. This is Katriona Tamin. She's going to show you around." Amanda steps down out of the glass case. She steps down and shakes hands with Kat. Olivia refuses to watch this integration of the foreign technology and goes back to her office. She could never learn to trust an Android.
2 months earlier
After the first day Amanda arrived, people were less interested in her and just went about their day. Their curiosity turned to skepticism. People kept their distance but talked about her. No one wanted to be around her but she didn't really seem to care. They gave her all of the work that no one wanted. The commissioner kept insisting that they take her out when investing and Olivia reluctantly agreed. But, Amanda was still treated very poorly by her. Kat, Fin, and Carisi were warming to her, but Olivia hated her still.
"Captain. I have completed the paperwork you asked for." Amanda says, walking into the captain's office. She places the completed files onto Olivia's desk neatly. The files that had taken Amanda such a short amount of time usually took the other hours to complete.
"How? I gave it to you 15 minutes ago." Olivia looked over the documents for any mistakes, hoping to find some. She looked and looked but she knew in her heart that she would never find anything. Amanda was too...perfect.
"I am here to complete a job and I will only get better over time." Amanda says. Amanda stares off into the distance for a few seconds. Olivia furrows her brow for a second and looks at the woman. The small glowing circle on the side of Amanda's head was now a bright yellow color. The circle spins, almost like it was buffering.
"Amanda?" Olivia asks and Amanda opens her eyes.
"Yes?" Amanda swiftly looks back at Olivia.
"You were staring."
"Sorry. Cyber life sent me new information. I was trying to process it."
"Okay…" Olivia says. It was creepy Amanda was creepy and she hated the fact that she had to work with her.
"Is there anything else you'd like me to do captain?" Amanda asks, folding her arms behind her back. Amanda was the epitome of a cop. She stood like one, talked like one, but she would never truly be one in Olivia's eyes. She was nothing more than metal given a name.
"No."
"Captain. I have been here for a week and your demeanor towards me hasn't changed at all. Is there a reason that you hate me?" Amanda asks leaving Olivia's mouth agape. Olivia never knew that Androids were able to day what they wanted
"Excuse me? Don't you have a code for that or something? You should not be talking to me like that."
"I'm sorry, Olivia. I didn't mean to offend you in any way. I just feel that I have not actually completed anything since I have been here. Everyone else is allowed to go out on cases but I have to stay here and do paperwork. I am designed to go to crime scenes and find things that most humans would not be able to. I can't do my job if you don't allow me." Amanda says honestly. Amanda knows that Olivia could have her easily destroyed and replaced with another model but she feels the need to push her point.
"Okay. Fine. I will send you out with Fin. He is your partner. You will do everything he says. Do I make myself clear?"
"Yes captain." Amanda says and leaves the office. Olivia just rolls her eyes and goes back onto the computer.
