Prologue
In front of a fledglings group stood a man. His expression stern, his posture firm, giving off the serious aura that intimidated the group. He scan each one of them from head to toe, and silently shake his head. Yet, another batch of young celestrians that he refuse to train. There is no way he will train any of these ones, especially not when they appear to be intimidated simply by his own's presence.
He was about to turn and left, rejecting another batch of students when his eyes come across another one and their eyes locked. Seeing no fear nor intimidation swirl on her eyes, he is slightly surprised at this. She may be small and isn't appear to be very strong physically, but her eyes hold fierce determination, a contrast to her small physique.
He surprised not only others but himself too by approaching the female celestrian, and took her in as his very own's student. The student, whose name is Lynx was surprised at this too. How could she not, when she was chosen to be a student of the one and only Aquila, he, whose skills are talked about often for their greatness, he, who refused to take in students for so long until now?
She smiled and bowed respectfully at her superior. "Thank you sir, it would be my honour."
Being Aquila's apprentice is no easy matter. Said man was harsh, both in training and speech. The trainings were hard, and he was blunt, giving her critiques and such with no compliments. He also rarely show emotions, let alone smile. Lynx wondered what had made him to be so stern like this.
But it doesn't matter, for she loves him just the way he is. Lynx knows that despite his cold demeanor, her teacher is very kind. He may not show this obviously, but through the times they spend together, she comes to learn to know more about him.
"You have come far Lynx." Aquila spoke. "I must confess that i have doubts in you taking over me, but you have proven yourself to be capable of such task. Well done."
"Thank you master." Lynx spoke, her heart swell in pride upon being complimented by him. Getting compliments from him are rare, and so, when she was given one, no matter how small the compliment is, she feels really proud.
Lynx doesn't know why she always feel the need to satisfy her teacher, to make him proud of her and earn his recognition. And how she always looking forward to see him smile, and when he did once, she felt her heart almost stop upon looking at the beautiful sight.
"Hah... hah.. my bones.. it's getting late, you must go on without me, the monsters becomes more active at night." The voice of an old man broke Lynx out from her thoughts.
"Don't be silly grandpa, Angel Falls is just up ahead!" The girl spoke.
"You see those, right?" Aquila spoke, averting his gaze towards the two slimes and a cruelcumber who are hiding behind a rock, ready to ambush the poor, innocent travellers. "They must not touch your flock Lynx, come."
Lynx flies towards the monsters from behind, surprising them with a light attack of her sword. But due to her sword isn't something that strong, it only managed to make the cruelcumber winced slightly and it retaliate with a thrust of its spear.
It wasn't hurt of course, for Lynx is a celetrian not a mortal being. Aquila decided to take down the Cruelcumber with one swing of his sword only while Lynx take down the two slimes, thus emerging a victory.
"Not bad for your first, official fight Lynx." Aquila complimented, and Lynx smiled happily at this. "And look, behold is the benevolessence, the crystallizarion of the mortals gratitude towards us, celestrians."
"It's beautiful.." Lynx spoke in awe upon seeing it for the first time. It gives a glowing aura that makes her heart feels warm. "It fills me with warmth."
Aquila smiled slightly but he was quick to return to his usual stern being. "Let us return to the observatory, that you may make your offering."
Following his order obediently, Lynx flies after him towards the Observatory, satisfied with her work today. Tomorrow will be another day, a day when she is able to come to Angel Falls by herself.. hopefully.
