He was falling.
It wasn't a nice fall, or a fall that made the wind slip through your hair, it was a scary fall; the fall where you can't seem to open your eyes due to fear.
Grian recalled what happened before he started plummeting.
He felt dizzy after the cheers.
He lurched forwards.
Then he couldn't feel the machine.
"Grian..!" He heard the faint, worried voices of his friends as he fell towards the ground. The whooshing sounds in his ears, he couldn't hear his friends anymore.
When he was sure that he was about to hit land, his life ending right then and there, because of the stupid idea of a flying machine; Grian's back felt wet.
He opened his eyes and saw that there was water around him. Someone had used their water bucket to save him. Grian sat up, his breath hitching, his body shaking, "What was that?"
Stress was the first to reach him, since it turned out they placed water all over to make sure he didn't hit the ground. "You seemed to have just fallen. What happened?"
Grian looked at his approaching friends. "I felt dizzy, as if I was hit with a potion of dizziness, but it was short." He glanced at all his friends individually, thinking it was one of them that did it, but it seemed unlikely, since they all tried to save him. Grian pushed that thought away.
"That was a weird thing you did, breaking through the barrier, Grian. How?" Xisuma asked out of the blue. Grian swiftly turned his head to X, and pondered the question for a moment. He stood up and shrugged, not understanding how he was able to do it.
"It just happened, it seems." Grian exhaled. He shook a bit, water splashing off his red shirt. They were near the village they wanted to go to, he realized.
"Did anything weird happen when you broke it?" Mumbo inquired. Grian opened his mouth to answer, but thought better of it. If he told his friends, they might worry a bit too much about him. Grian didn't want that. So he shook his head. Mumbo nodded, slowly.
Silence.
"Anyways, let's go to the village! It's right there!" Our protagonist said in his cheery voice. He marched up a hill blocking the way, and ran down it, not looking back to make sure everyone else was following.
I can't let them know what happened. I can protect myself from whatever is happening. Grian thought to himself as he reached the village.
But I need to know what happened up there.
