Hello, everyone. I'm very happy this story got so many views so fast, heck I think it's my one fanfic that has gotten the most so fast for a single chapter release!
I also appreciate the reviews so far, so before the story continues allow me to address some things.
Some people already made guesses about the other women Venelana met during her time in the Nasuverse, and one of the reviewers also got three of them right. What I can for now is this: the first two girls do not come from the original Nasuverse or DxD. They come from another popular visual novel that got a so-so anime adaptation to those that played both versions of the game: Maji de Watashi. They are part of the same world as Shirou, only Hume Hellsing did not exist there.
This means that they are also posthumous characters for the Fate x Digimon crossover I wrote, since the background story is more or less the same. Changes have been made to fit the story, so if you feel that I am not going along with how you knew them I accept the complaints. I simply thought one of them deserved much better development given the ending of her route, and the other was popular and likable as hell but got no route at all… not even in They are My Noble Masters -_-'
If you read both the prologue and the first chapter of The Epic of Emiya Shirou, you will get an idea of the giant mess that would allow them all to meet.
It went very bad for everyone, like Global Crisis bad, and the big bad was way stronger than you remember in the Fate Visual Novel.
Now regarding Rias… can't say. The contract is not forbidding Venelana to have sex with another, but she can only have kids with Shirou even if they will not look like him for the most part or inherit his abilities. That means no sword spamming for any of the Devil siblings, nor Reality Marbles as they are not Ancestors, uniquely insane magical humans, Imaginary Demons or Elementals.
As far as I know, the only Reality Marbles that can be inherited are TATARI, Lair of the Beast King, and Roa's Overload Geomatria being a possible third given the whole mess with Ciel and someone else later in the canon of this fanfic. Altrouge technically had the Millennium Castle as hers, since that is the means she has to summon it as she cannot use Marble Phantasm like her sister.
Back to Rias, I can't say because even now I am not sure. By the end of this chapter you will understand why, but technically the contract could be nulled by the one responsible for it. For those who already guessed the identity of this character, remember those contracts are pretty much unbreakable, they can be temporarily lifted with ridiculous means but nothing establishes that even Rule Breaker would be effective. This will be the idea I will use for them, which makes them very different from your typical Devil contract in DxD.
Whether Venelana is willing given the chance, or if she refuses with possible political repercussions…we'll see.
Finally, the Devil's Civil War is the first part, not the only focus, so be assured Rias and the other girls and even dudes will appear in future chapters. But I will be implementing changes for this fanfic, avoiding bashing and adding more drama and more plight in some moments. Like in the case of Rizevim and his faction, who are more than overpowered evil Devils that got pushed back hard by the natural born genius that would become our favorite Demon Lords.
With all of this out of the way, onto where we left!
Rewriting Your FATE: Irregular Demon Lords.
-Chapter II: Reminiscence-
Gremory State, ruins of the Castle.
By command of Lord Rizevim Livan Lucifer, the fighting power of the Lucifuge was divided between the two fronts. The biggest portion of their forces would be handled by his own children, Euclid and Graifya, to continue the fight against the Rebel Forces.
The smaller part left would continue under his command, he, the Lord Lucifuge himself.
The Lucifuge had served under Lucifer since the day the original Demon Lord created the very Ancestor that would become the progenitor of his family. As the current head, Lord Lucifuge would continue with this tradition keeping true to his family's loyalty, for that is what defined them all regardless of what was commanded to them.
Even if the order was something as supporting the other Demon Lords in eradicating one of the 72 Pillars for being itself support and the birthplace of the main leader of the Rebel Forces, Sirzechs Gremory.
As a Lucifuge he would obey, for that was his family motto, to uphold their duty above all else.
But his own doubts were still there.
Especially with had he had been seeing the last half hour.
(Solid State Scouter-Extended Versions)
It had all begun with a crimson explosion blowing up the Gremory Castle just a little after the barriers had been destroyed and Lady Gremory had come out to the open.
The Demon Lords had gotten away unharmed, but they had been forced back more than just mere meters.
A rain of magical attacks had followed and struck into the smoke in hopes of dealing damage effectively for about 15 seconds, before Tsufaame Leviathan unleashed a huge torrent of water in order to drown whatever was left.
The smoke cleared and the water vanished into dust as Lady Gremory reappered from the ruins.
Only she was coming at them at high speeds, while her body was completely shrouded into a dark crimson aura that simply ignored the torrent of water
Most high ranked Devils and the Demon Lords once more evaded.
The poor fools in the way were not so lucky, and they got annihilated by the crimson shooting star.
From there, the fight had become something out of his expectations.
He had seen the Venelana Gremory fight before, and even exchanged attacks with her from a secure position, never managing to defeat her but having ground to give when retreat proved necessary.
The infamous Power of Destruction from the Bael Family had allowed Sirzechs Gremory to become a walking natural disaster in the frontlines, only effectively stopped by Lord Rizevim the times they had faced each other in battle.
He had raw power far above even Ultimate Devils, and he knew how to use it with skill.
But seeing his very mother stand her ground and push her way through the ranks of their forces right now, Lord Lucifuge reconsidered if perhaps the son had been in fact learning form another master in his family.
For while the Rebel Leader had skill and much more power, his mother had much more control and finesse.
Sirzechs used his power to either vaporize his enemies from mid or long range, or completely obliterate everything within an ever growing radius, without mercy to anything within. It was simple but extremely effective.
And yet, Venelana Gremory was in complete control of her own Aura of Destruction.
Releasing her power in a series of rings that came in waves, whose reach and timing she could alter without problem.
Handling multiple spheres made from the Power of Destruction and interconnected to one another in a series of circles, creating an additional layer of offense and defense that blocked many powerful counter-attacks and could even change form into spears in a matter of seconds.
Sometimes she even released those spheres and they acted as pseudo-familiars, following limited commands on their own until dispelled by enough force beyond their own power.
And sometimes… she actually engaged in close quarters, using her layers of protection and her aura to become a juggernaut in crimson.
Lord Lucifuge had yet to see the absurd display in raw power that Sirzechs Gremory had shown during the course of this war, but he was witnessing something else.
A Devil truly in control of her own power.
Not Sirzechs, not Serafall Sitri, not his daughter, or even his Lord Lucifer could truly claim to have mastered their gifts. They had all become proficient enough to unleash power beyond anything seen since the days of the Original Demon Lords, but they were more akin to natural disasters falling upon their enemies.
As Venelana Gremory soaked more attacks into her aura and blasted away the ever more frustrated, and dare he say scared, Demon Lords, he could see someone not consumed by her power nor savagely unleashing as much as they could easily muster.
Even in the heat of the battle, this was not a mere Devil relying on power, but a veteran of many battles who mastered her talents to levels unheard of.
A fierce warriors protecting her land from the invaders seeking to exterminate both her and her subjects, for he saw no rage, sadness or even glee in the Lady Gremory as she made her last stand.
This was a fight of someone who sought something else than destruction or her own death.
And yet, Lord Lucifuge kept this last thoughts to himself as he continued to witness the fearsome last act of the invasion.
Because, as he saw Venelana Gremory continue her last stand with such conviction, he was forced to think about the path ahead for his own family, and the whole miserable campaign of extermination and sabotage that his Lord had been leading against his own race for the sake of living to the ideals of their maker.
Alas, even he knew it was hopeless to think otherwise.
For even this crimson star would soon lose its light.
Lucifaad, Head Quarters of the Satan Faction.
"Impressive, isn't it?" –commented one Rizevim Livan Lucifer to his fellow Demon Lord, one Bidleid Bashalun Beelzebub, as they looked at the scrying provided by their invading forces on the Gremory Territory.
His fellow didn't seem to appreciate the commentary, however.
"What do you mean impressive Rizevim? I thought there was only one of those monsters from the Bael Pillar capable of fighting on your level, but now it seems they were keeping a second one hidden! The whole point of this plan was to destroy the Gremory so that upstart kid had no support from home, and the Bael found themselves with no options but to bend the knee. But not only have we lost two hundred thousand Devils… we may even lose our fellow Demon Lords there!" –finished Beelzebub to Rizevim, who took his companion's rant in stride and merely continued smiling.
"Wouldn't that actually benefit us?" –He began, enjoying the startled expression on Bidleid's visage –"You are a Beelzebub, old friend, and you may pretend this war is for the sake of maintaining the status quo in our society, but I know you. I know that if the Four Main Pillars become Two, you would simply take what they left behind. As I would."
He took a moment to look once more at the scrying, as the Lady Gremory had finished destroying another High Chimera and sought their fellow Demon Lords once again, only to be consumed by a tsunami unleashed from the mouth of Tsuufame Leviathan in her true form as The Serpent of the End.
His smile only got wider.
(Dark Church Organ-Pride. Gothic Church Organ)
"Impressive indeed, but ultimately futile. Even if the Lady Gremory somehow succeeds in killing every single one of the invading forces, she will either die or be left in such a poor state that Ultimate Devils would not be needed to finish the job. Even if Sirzechs Gremory rescues his precious mother, the damage to his reputation is still done and the rebel forces are going to be missing their main powerhouse and when they need him the most. And since Zekram Bael had already done the same as Sirzechs to protect his own territory and that of his allies, these rebels will have no option but to rely almost exclusively on children to lead them into battle"
Bidleid Beelzebub said nothing, but Rizevim could deduce from the silence that he must be caught in his words.
"Those children think that they only have to conquer territory and beat enemy armies and commanders, and that the hardest part of a war is the number of deaths needed to obtain victory. But beyond tactical skill and raw power, they lack a good strategy and a true understanding of what it means to fight a war. First they were so focused on us that they left their territories unprotected, and now they are forced to either abandon their allies and loss their support in the short term, or spread themselves thin and weaken their push into our territories.
It matters not if the attack on the Gremory ends up failing its main objective, or even if the current Asmodeus and Leviathan perish, for you and I will soon win this war. We are about to launch a quick attack on the headless Rebel Army and deal with its remaining stars. We will send the Lucifuge siblings to keep the Sitri Princess occupied, while you will do the same with the Glasya-Labolas Prince. Do not try to beat him, just make sure he does not move to support his friends."
He stopped for a moment, letting his companion process all of his words.
Bidleid took a moment to look once more at the scrying, then back at him, before asking the obvious.
"What about you, Lord Rizevim?"
"I will take care of Ajuka Astaroth before either Sirzechs Gremory or Zekram Bael can return to the frontlines, old friend, and then we will all be even… after all, two Demon Lords for another two seems like a fair exchange, don't you think?"
Getting up from his chair, Rizevim Livan Lucifer began making his way out of the room, in preparation to once again enter the battlefield. With a wave of his left, the scrying stopped and Bidleid Beelzebub took that as the sign to make himself ready as well.
The strongest Demon Lord as of now, had one last thing to say, however.
"The board is set, and the outcome has already been decided. The crimson star of Gremory will soon fall from the skies, and the ones out there will follow. And then, all Devil-kin will know that Sirzechs Gremory is a fool that can protect nothing and no one. In that moment, old friend, this war will be ours."
Ruins of the Gremory State.
Under better circumstances, she would have possessed enough magical energy to continue the battle for hours, but even being conservative in the use of her power changed not the weariness due to days of no sleep and facing two Demon Lords and their allies by herself.
She may have better control than her son, but he had the reserves to quickly solve the problems in front of him or outlast them in a prolonged battle.
So, when her reserves had finally been exhausted, her Aura of Destruction disappeared and left her vulnerable to her foes.
After seeing her fall from the skies and not immediately recover, some grunts jumped to the chance of being the ones to claim the prize.
But even with no energies left to keep her power active, Venelana Gremory had not survived this long by relying exclusively on it.
She had always been talented in finding high quality gems, and she had taken to heart the style used by the late Tohsaka and those Edelfelt sisters that had become their best allies during the Third Vampire War.
She had also learned from the inhuman training regimen from the Silver Princess, who had reached the realm of Legends by relaying on Martial Arts alone.
As such, she had not been helpless when the fools came to meet their deaths, while the more cautious Demon Lords watched before intervening for a last time.
She had used her last gem to try burning the face of the Giant Serpent Leviathan, which did inflict pain to the transformed Demon Lord and got Venelana a painful squeeze from her tail for all her troubles.
Alas, she was now trapped and truly spent, with no more tricks hidden in her sleeves.
None but one card, taking a page from one of her beloved friends in the other side.
(Inuyasha OST: Kikyo's theme)
'Ah, so this is what it was like for her after she was the last one standing against the Parade' –she wondered as she realized how familiar this looked.
'I was forced to watch helplessly as they fell one by one, while Shirou bleed on the ground and Sion appeared to have been destroyed. And by the time I got there, it was too late, and the Vermillion Princess was no more, nothing remained on the scorched earth once that bastard fled except the unconscious forms of Shirou and Rouge.
Now, I am at the center of the happening, and Sirzechs and Zeoticus are the ones occupying my previous role…I'm so sorry, both of you, but I think I will be departing now'
Venelana was forced back into reality by the feeling of her bones cracking under the increased pressure from her captor.
"I was doing this attack on the Gremory out of pragmatism and to enact my authority as a Demon Lord, but you have made this easily personal, Bael whore. I will not drown you in my water, but you will still not get a quick death. I will take my time squeezing the life out of your broken body with my own, and let your fool of a son watch your defiled corpse once he arrives to the empty ruins of his home."
Venelana replied with a snort, while preparing her last move.
"Then… you would be painting a target on your back, Tsufaame… My son is more powerful than I… and you know how Gremory deal… with those attacking what they care for…you feel like taking on him… after the trashing I gave both of you?" –she taunted the Leviathan even as the hold on her body made it difficult to speak more than some words at a time.
The pressure increased by a lot this time.
"Then perhaps I should just hasten your demise, after all. Aren't I merciful, Bael whore?" –countered the Leviathan with a sneer, and Venelana believed she had less than a minute before her body was crushed.
It didn't matter, her move was ready.
(Inuyasha OST-Spiritual Power)
To the surprise to both Demon Lords, a new wave of power exploded from the trapped Gremory, her body glowing in dark crimson light once again.
Of course, Tsufaame Leviathan had been the more surprised of the two, as she had been forced to release her prey as the Power of Destruction attempted to consume her body.
"Impossible! You should have nothing left, we even checked twice to make sure you had no more hidden tricks! So how, how are you doing this!"
Venelana was tired and wounded, barely managing to stand on her feet as she looked at the Demon Lords and the awed enemy army.
She still gave them a grim smile, knowing full well her time had come.
"I could tell you in detail how and let you in the secret, but we both have no more time left. My son will be here soon and he needs all the help he can get to put an end to this war. I am but a mother using her own life to become another set of stairs so he can rise to create a better future for our people. I am but a widow hoping to meet her beloved friends on the other side… and I told you before, Tsufaame, that I would make of you both gifts to announce my arrival."
[Ittō Kasō], the Forbidden Technique used by Akiha Tohno to burn away The Parade and protect Shirou, at the price of her life and soul, and the souls of all those exposed to the infernal heat born in her blood. While their loathed enemy had still survived, he had been left so badly hurt on a conceptual level that he never fully recover from the attack.
Venelana Gremory was no Crimson Red Vermillion, but she understood the basics of Akiha's technique to pull off her own version.
If she didn't have any more magical energy in her reserves to use her Power of Destruction, then she would turn herself into the fuel for it to burn one last time, dragging along all targets within the walls of the Gremory state.
Her last move would end the siege, and take down two of the Main Pillars heading the loyalist.
'Now it really is up to you, Sirzechs…'
The Demon Lords must have realized something was wrong as they started summoning their teleportation circles.
The spell would be released at a superior speed, however.
This was it.
With this, it would be over.
With this, she could finally…
…
"By the power of my black blood, I bind you to the following: the power raging within will stop running wild, and your body will return to its previous state… but you will not be able to use said power at all for the following two weeks."
(Trinity Blood OST: Trinity Blood)
And just like that, she suddenly lost her ability to even remain standing, unable to do anything else but collapse on the ground.
Before she did, though, she was stopped by a pair of slender arms, cold to the touch but carrying a familiar warmth in their embrace.
As familiar as the voice that spoke with authority before she lost access to her power and realized that she actually felt more like a living being and less like a bomb about to go off.
"Gaaaah!"
"Damaidosu!"
Before she could coordinate her memories with her senses, her attention was caught once again by the screams coming from the positions previously occupied by the Demon Lords, followed by an explosion that released holy energy from the exact location of the Asmodeus Pillar.
"Really, such a troublesome lot you are"- spoke the familiar voice mockingly, but there was no real bite in the tone –"Why did I end up with a group of self-sacrificing idiots? Even I will start taking on such a bad habit if this keeps happening!"
"Rate of success from Durindana: 100% assured elimination of the target struck. All within calculations. We expected the other target to easily avoid the damage due to recognizing the holy attribute of the Noble Phantasm, so you must be the one to engage it" –another voice coming right behind her added. It sounded similar to the assessment of a computer, but she could still recognize the speaker actively pretended not to hear the comment.
"Good for me, but don't' just ignore my complaint, Eltnam"-replied the first, and now that no more surprises interrupted her thought process, she could finally turn around and look at the new arrivals.
Holding her was a woman with a pale tan, purple hair combed into a single braid that reached to her backside, and wearing a dress that combined a darker purple with white and additions of black and gold for decorations. Her crimson eyes regarded her for a moment before they turned behind both of them to look at the second person.
Long, black hair with a single ahoge sticking out like an antenna, and pale skin covered by an elegant black dress. A pair of crimson eyes that weren't there in the past now stared at her.
She knew these faces, these voices.
She knew these people.
Even tired, her body was shaking with emotion. But she still needed to ask.
"Sion…Rouge. Are you really here? …Is he-"
"Who do you think struck down the voyeur up there?" –The Black Princess replied before Venelana could finish, and then a third figure came into her sight.
Tanned skin, eyes and hair turned into silver by overuse of his magic, wearing black for his chest and legs, while leaving his arms exposed.
As her own violet eyes lost themselves into those silver eyes, Venelana finally released the waterworks.
(Trinity Blood OST: Broken Wings- Full Version)
A/N: Hello there, second chapter released. Now you know more about the past of Venelana and who remained with her by the time of the last battle. One Demon Lord is down and now the other is facing the Black Princess of Ancestors herself.
I will be fixing some errors in writing from the first chapter and busy for a while, but I hope until the next update you can enjoy this pair of chapters. In the meantime, feel free to make reviews and even send PMs.
Take care of yourselves and enjoy this work while we are all dealing with Type-COVID.
See ya!
