Chapter 7 Routine
On Wednesday I did the shopping before picking Henry up from school. He did his homework while I unpacked the groceries and cleaned up a bit. Afterwards we sat down with his storybook. I tried to explain as much as I could, making him promise he wouldn't say anything to Regina.
"My mum stopped looking for a babysitter a while ago so you suggested it yourself, to be able to talk to me."
"Clever boy, just like your mother. We can talk about the curse, our previous lives,…" I started "I even promise to guide Emma from a distance."
"Thanks." He replied, leafing through the book.
"You won't find me in there kid. I'm not one of the famous characters, but I feel like I will be starring in it soon."
"That's okay. I'm just Henry, nothing special here."
"Kid. You're the most special thing there is. You were born out of love, you are the one to make Emma believe again. No one else can."
"You really think so?"
"Yup. 200%. She'll need you kid."
We discussed everything. I even told him about Gold's deal.
"You have to find mr. Gold a wife?"
"I know, strange request right?" I replied "Guess power can't give you everything…"
"Love is the most powerful magic of all." Henry said and told me about his missions with Emma.
By the time Regina came home I had prepared dinner for them and left after doing the dishes.
On Thursday I made a list of Gold's characteristics and compared them with the women in town. I looked for things they had in common with the man. Even though he wanted a woman from Storybrook, I still felt like I could search within our previous realm. We were going back there one day. At least that's what I hoped.
Mulan- too much fighting
Jasmine- happily married to Aladdin.
Aurora- ugh Prince Philip
As my search didn't lead to results, I started working on my propaganda. I made flyers; wrote them in a different handwriting than my own, made drawings and signed them with "The light one".
I finished up round 5 p.m., just in time for dinner at Granny's. It was a slow night so Ruby had time to share dessert with me. At midnight I started hanging my flyers all over town.
On Friday Evelyn let me know everything was back okay between her and Jonathan. They wanted to take me to dinner that night, as a thank you for bringing them together. Dinner was great, so we decided to go to Aesop's Tables bar. There I talked to a women- someone I hadn't seen a lot- with the name Tiana. We engaged in conversation and thought we made fine acquaintances.
The next day I invited her to go shopping- nothing too personal. "Hey, how about one last store?"
"I thought we did them all?"
"Gold's shop is the only left. He sells quite the items I hear."
She wasn't convinced but followed me inside.
"Rose. I've been expecting you. And who is the young lady?"
"Gold meet Tiana. Tiana, Gold." I introduced them "I think she'd like to look at the jewelry display."
"Of course." He replied, revealing the jewelry. I walked around the store while they got to know each other. She picked a lovely pendant to hang round her neck. Tiana paid for it and left me with a quiet goodbye.
"You looked like you were going to murder her." I said, rather agitated "The pendant wasn't cursed or anything, was it?"
"As long as she doesn't show up again, it won't harm her." He bit back.
"Boy you're one girl magnet, aren't you?" I said, on the verge of crying "Regina and Zelina are woman who loved you, once… Maybe I should give them a small nudge towards your arms.. But something tells me that won't be enough."
"You're right. Clever as always."
"I'm not giving up yet."
"Stubborn as a mule."
"You're the one making gold, not I." I sighed, not really sure why I was lingering.
"Did you find anything in the shop?"
"No, not really." I replied "Is there anything that doesn't belong to a fairytale character and that isn't considered entirely dark?"
"Certainly." He replied, going over to a display. He picked out a box and revealed a necklace. Slowly he picked it up and tied it round my neck.
"You're just giving me this, for no reason?"
"It suits you." He replied, holding up a mirror "Besides, no one else want it."
"Watch it Gold or I might warm up to you." I replied, stroking it.
