April Fool's Day

Hey, I hope you like this story. If you find any errors, please PM me personally! Thank you!

Brian woke up and saw that the sun was starting to rise. He sat up and yawned and then threw his legs over the side of the bed. The next thing he knew, his feet were stuck in something sticky and sugary. He looked down at his feet and groaned as he saw the puddle of molasses. Then he heard a chuckle come from the person beside him.

"April Fools, Brian." Guthrie exclaimed. Brian took his pillow and threw it at Guthrie.

"Get out of here." Brian groaned.

Adam woke up and saw that Hannah was sleeping. He saw her wedding ring and pulled it off and put it in his shirt pocket as he got dressed. Then he walked out of his room and saw Evan and Crane walking downstairs. When they got to the bottom of the steps, they saw Brian sitting on the edge of the bed with molasses on his feet and Guthrie laughing beside him.

"Well, it looks like someone has been pranked." Evan chuckled. Evan, Crane, and Adam walked outside and Evan chuckled quietly.

"I have to go back inside and get my pocket knife. I'll be right back." Evan lied. Adam and Crane walked to the barn while Evan stayed put. When they approached the barn, he followed them.

"We need to fix the stall doors or else all the horses will break out." Adam warned.

"I'll get the nails." Crane answered. Then they stepped on a rope and a bucket of honey fell and covered them. Then they heard Evan laughing.

"Haha. Gottcha." Evan exclaimed as he laughed. Crane and Adam looked at each other and then started chasing Evan. Evan ran to the other side of the barn but didn't see that Ford was hiding nearby. Evan tripped on a rope at the barn door and a bucket of glue and feathers covered him. Crane and Adam stopped and laughed. Then Ford came out from behind the hay bails and laughed.

"April Fools." Ford sang.

Adam, Crane, and Evan walked to the hose and rinsed themselves off.

Inside, Hannah woke up and got dressed. She walked out of her room and saw Brian taping saran wrap to Daniel's bedroom door. Then she watched Brian pour oil on the floor. She laughed and went downstairs to make breakfast.

Daniel woke up and opened his bedroom door and saw the saran wrap. He knocked it down but didn't see the oil on the floor. He stepped on the oil and fell on his butt. Brian stood at the door and laughed.

"Thanks a lot, Brian." Daniel grumbled.

Hannah started making breakfast and she looked into the cupboard and saw that someone had rearranged them.

"April Fools." Guthrie exclaimed as he walked in. Hannah gave him a look and then laughed.

"Good one, Guthrie." Hannah said. Then they heard screaming and fighting outside. They looked and saw Adam, Crane, and Evan at the hose cleaning themselves off while Ford and Brian were laughing at them. Then Adam started chasing Ford with the hose.

"Hey, you got me. I'm all wet now." Ford exclaimed.

Hannah and Guthrie laughed and then Hannah looked down at Guthrie.

"Hey, Guthrie, why don't you help me make breakfast?" Hannah said. They made breakfast and then after breakfast, all the men went to work. Hannah decided to make cookies that didn't call for molasses or honey because she had no more. She reached into a cupboard and pulled out a container of cayenne pepper by mistake.

"Oops, don't want to do that." Hannah said to herself. Then she had an idea. She smiled at the container and finished making her cookies.

Outside, Daniel watched as Guthrie finished cleaning the chicken coop. Then he walked over and made a mess of the coop. Then he followed Guthrie to the tool shed where Guthrie rearranged the tools. Then Daniel messed up the tools again. As Guthrie did all of his chores, Daniel proceeded to mess them up.

Adam walked by the tool shed and saw that it was a mess. He walked by the garden and saw that the weeds were everywhere. Then he saw Guthrie playing with FOrd. Daniel was on the porch playing his guitar.

"Hey, you shouldn't be playing. You haven't done your chores." Adam scolded.

"But I did, Adam. I did all of my chores." Guthrie answered.

"The toolshed is a mess and so is the garden and the chicken coop. Get to work."

"Yes, sir."

Guthrie began cleaning the chicken coop again. When he was done, Daniel walked over and started making a mess again. Ford watched him and chuckled. Then Adam walked out of the house and saw Daniel. He shook his head and smiled. When Guthrie was done with his chores, he walked back to the house and saw that the chicken coop was a mess again.

"Oh come on!" Guthrie groaned. Then Adam walked over.

"I thought I told you to clean the chicken coop." Adam teased.

"I did, Adam. I swear I did."

Then they heard laughing and they saw Daniel hiding behind a bush.

"April Fools, Guthrie." Daniel laughed.

"That's not fair." Guthrie grumbled.

"Hey, I was just picking on you. AT least your butt doesn't hurt like mine does."

"Alright, wise guys. Clean up the mess. Lunch will be ready soon." Adam ordered. Daniel and Guthrie went to work.

They had lunch and then Hannah brought out the cookies. The boys each took a bite and then ran to the fridge to grab the milk. Hannah laughed and then Adam joined her.

"I put cayenne pepper in the cookies." Hannah laughed. "You should have seen your faces."

Adam walked over to Hannah and kissed her. The boys tried to cool down their mouths and recover from the prank that Hannah pulled.

After lunch, Crane walked to the lambs' pen and grabbed Sheba the lamb.

"Come on, Sheba. I have a job for you." Crane sighed. Then he took her inside and let her loose in Ford and Evan's room. Sheba went to work chewing up the blankets and pillows and clothes and proceeded to make a big mess.

Downstairs, Hannah has just finished canning peaches when the six younger boys came in to get ready to go to town. Hannah rubbed her hands and noticed her wedding ring was missing.

"Oh no." Hannah gasped. She looked around but couldn't find her ring. Then Guthrie came into the kitchen.

"What are you looking for, Hannah?" He asked.

"My wedding ring. It's gone."

"Could it be in the cans of peaches?"

"LEt's look."

SO they looked through all the cans of peaches. Then Adam came inside and saw the two.

"What are you two looking for?" Adam wondered.

"Hannah lost her wedding ring. We thought it was in the peaches. We've looked everywhere but can't find it." Guthrie answered.

"Oh, this ring?" Adam asked as he pulled out Hannah's wedding ring from his pocket. The boys all laughed and Hannah scowled at Adam and then sighed. Then she walked over and Adam put the ring on her finger.

"I'm gonna get you for that." Hannah promised.

"I can't wait."

Ford walked up to his bedroom and saw that it was a mess.

"Oh no. Who made this mess?" Ford questioned. Then he felt something grab his shirt and pull a piece off. He looked and saw Sheba chewing on his shirt. "Oh, Sheba. Who let you in here?"

Brian and Crane fist-pumped downstairs and chuckled at each other.

"You got him good, Crane. Just remember, you're fixing the clothes and bedding." Brian quietly stated.

"April Fools." Crane said. Ford groaned and grabbed Sheba and took her outside.

While the 6 younger brothers were gone, Hannah cleaned up FOrd and Evan's room as well as the rest of the house. Then Adam came in with a bail of hay.

"What are you doing?" Hannah wondered.

"DOn't say one word." Adam warned.

"I won't. Just tell me what you're doing."

"Watch."

Adam removed the sheets on the beds and laid a layer of hay. Then he made up the beds and then he removed the pillows and hid them. He put hay into the pillowcases and made it look like a real pillow was inside. Hannah chuckled when Adam was done.

"You know, now I see where the others get it from." Hannah said.

"It has to start somewhere." Adam replied.

After supper, the boys were tired and they went to bed. They each laid down and noticed how prickly their beds were. Daniel looked in his pillow and saw hay.

"SOMEONE PUT HAY IN MY BED!"Daniel shouted.

"Hey, who put hay under the sheets?" Guthrie asked.

"It wasn't us." The other brothers replied. Then Adam walked out of the bathroom and looked at his brothers who were looking for the culprit.

"April Fools." Adam answered. The boys threw their pillows at Adam who ran and hid in his room. He didn't notice that Hannah had set a little trap for Adam.

"They found out?" Hannah wondered.

"Yep." Adam chuckled. Then he sat down in his chair and then yelped and jumped up. Then he saw the thumbtacks in the chair. Hannah giggled and Adam sighed and walked over to the bed and grabbed Hannah. He tickled her and then they laid on the bed laughing.

"You know, you're cleaning up the mess in the morning." Hannah stated.

"I know, but it's worth it." Adam answered.
