I tried to leave it on a good cliffhanger last chapter but I don't know how you all felt about it? Was it any good

His voice was quiet as he whispered to her" I'm sorry Clary I really don't want to do this but.." with that he pulled out handcuffs and in a more assertive Tone and volume he stared " I am arresting you and taking you for questioning in link to the Sebastian Verlac drugs raid seen as you claim to live here."

He placed her tiny wrists in the handcuffs although they barely fit and then he put his arm around her and walked her over to the police van. Her fully body was shaking with sobs in the same way it was that morning. It was bad enough to be arrested in connection to her boyfriends illegal drug business however to be arrested by Jace who that morning had bought her pancakes and a milkshake and who made her feel like she was pretty and not as broke as she thought.

Clary couldn't deal with it much longer, the world started Turing black, it started with splodges in her vision until they all joined together and she collapsed. Jace caught her and lifted her up unti the back. He told shouted at them he would ride with her to try and get her to come back round to consciousness. With that they slammed the doors, all the officers looked pleased with the progress but not Alec. He looked at him with disappointment and it was definite he had joined all the dots together.

In the back of the van Jace got Clary a bottle of water then laid her down across the seats, he then sat there and stroked her hair, slowly caressing each curl and playing with them between his fingers. Finally her eyes started to flutter open and she came around. "Jace. What's happened? Where am I?" She said as she sat up, her voice was filled with doubt.

" I don't know how much you remember. But you passed out just before I got you in here, I think it was due to dehydration, lack of food and sleep. You don't look well."

"Jace." Her voice was raw and pleading, " there is something I haven't exactly told you."

" What do you mean?"

"Please don't get angry when I tell you this. Well, as much as I don't want him. I have a boyfriend, I want to leave him. He sells drugs and W elects ne to and he hits me like he did last night because I got home late. I've been trying to leave for so long but I've never known how and the only escape I've ever had is my nights with you. When we would just laugh and talk. You are so different to him you know. "

His eyes stared into hers as if they were looking deeper inside her, into her soul. There was darker tones of gold that she had never noticed, the metallic colours swirled around and danced even if the dimly lit van. He looked sad and apologetic.

"I'm sorry about it Clary. I just wish you would have told me."

He then turned away and they spent the rest of their journey in silence, avoiding eye contact.

Clary found herself sat in a room with white walls l, a table and two chairs then a window that you couldn't see through but you knew other people could see in. She sat at one side of the table while the white haired man she recognised from the crime scene sat at the other.

He just stared at her before beginning "Hello, Clarissa Fray, I'm going to be asking you a few questions today, try and be honest we need to try and catch Verlac."

Clary cringed slightly at his name, he was a slimy toxic man who she hated so much. She once did love him before they moved to the city then he cahnged, he wanted more money and he wanted to impress people."

"Okay." Her voice cracked

"Do you recognise this man?" He held out a photo of Sebastian.

"Yes I do, that's Sebastian Verlac. My boyfriend, well now ex boyfriend."

" What do you know about this crimes?"

"He sold a lot of drugs, he tried to get me to sell drugs. He's an aggressive clever man who just wants his one way."

"Have you ever been involved in his crimes?"

"He has forced me to before. It wasn't what I wanted but then he started hitting me and he's never really stopped since then."

"Okay I think we are done. Wait in here then I'll be back."

The chair scraped along the floor as he got up and strutted out of the room. She felt like she handled that pretty well, no tears or anything like that.

Valentine went outside and found the three other younger officers who were also working on the case. Alec, Jace and Jordan. He noticed how Jace was stood up slightly pacing, he looked worried.

"According to the girl, he has been selling drugs for many years and there might also be a few charges or domestic violence. I need one of you to ask her about the bruise on her face. Decide between yours legs then go in." With that he walked off into his office and sat at the computer.

Alec looked down, then Jace volunteered to talk to her just as he expected. He walked through the door shut it and walked to the other side of the table. She let out a weak smile.

"Hey clary. You've mentioned Sebastian has hit you before?"

"Yes."

" I know it might be hard but we need to see the bruises to charge him with it ,then in court the photos will be used as evidence."

She pointed out the faint purple mark on her face, then pulled the neckline of her T-shirt down a bit to reveal cigarette burns on her collarbones, there was at least 10, then she lifted up her T-shirt to reveal smooth silky white skin (which under any other circumstance Jace would have loved to see) however it was covered in purple, green and blue marks.

He gasped slightly, it was covered with marks. He thought it would be bad but not this bad, he realised most of them would be covered by her work clothes and that's when he remembered how manipulative Sebastian is, he didn't want anyone to find these.

"Is it okay if I take you to get these photographed?"

"Yes."

He lead her out the door and they walked to another room. She was pleased this could be her escape. She prayed that it would be her escape, she had dealt with the terrors too long.
